The Darkened Sea Info & Guides: Overview | Progression & Task List | Raiding | Visible Armor

This solo task is part of a series and begins with a noctis viratum (click for map image) in Arx Mentis.

Pre-Requisites for Requesting:
- Minimum Level 95
- Completed "Key to the Citadel"

Say "taken" to request the task.

You say, 'Hail, a noctis viratum'

a noctis viratum says 'So you're ready for more, _____? Good, good... I suppose your eagerness in assaulting the citadel deserves some candor. In addition to being a 'shady figure' I was once a praetor serving as hand of the citadel to enact his highness's will. I proved to be rather incapable of this job as it required a number of, let's say, inhumane qualities. I escaped the ranks when it became necessary to send a number of us down to the dredge, but now I fear for a number of my companions that have been [taken] from the city to the citadel in the interim.'

You say, 'Taken?'

a noctis viratum says 'Taken is a more accurate word for what the citizens call 'ascending.' The populous thinks that being chosen to serve in the citadel is a grand honor, but I fear more sinister measures are taking place...'

You have been assigned the task 'What Lies Above'.

The shady figure is more amenable now that you have proved your willingness to work with him. He has revealed himself to be an escaped citadel praetor by the name of Tsalis Ferin and would like you to make contact with two citizens who have recently 'ascended' but have not been heard from for some time.

Locate Serphus Arlis 0/1 (Arx Mentis)

Task Window Says: Serphus Arlis was a philosopher before he was chosen to join the ranks of the praetor guard. Tsalis found it surprising that Serphus was chosen given his propensity to muse on the ethics of militarization. Tsalis believes that Serphus does not share his fellow citizens' enthusiasm for ascension and may have more to reveal about the strange occurrences happening within the Arx.

Serphus Arlis is found roaming the port-in area of the Arx (roams through the port-in room from hall to hall).

Speak with Serphus 0/1 (Arx Mentis)

Task Window Says: Serphus appears to be patrolling the Protarx portal. Let him know that Tsalis sent you.

You say, 'Hail, Serphus Arlis'

Serphus Arlis stands upright and projects his voice past you, 'H-Halt intruder!' He quickly lowers his voice to a whisper, 'Just go, I don't want any trouble.' His expression changes from fearful to anxious as you explain that Tsalis sent you. He nods, his voice still a whisper, 'The last I saw of Crasis was on the Penutarx. Go now. We can't be seen conversing. Though I may have work for you later if you are truly a friend of Tsalis.'

Locate Crasis Whesar 0/1 (Arx Mentis)

Task Window Says: Crasis Whesar was a prominent artist in the city before his ascension to the citadel. His ascension is particularly surprising to Tsalis given the primary subject of his work was of the citadel's weaponry. Tsalis is unsure where Crasis may be located.

Crasis Whesar is found in the Penutarx Reanimation Ward at /loc 60, -5, 175 (on a table in the northwestern room of the top floor).

As you survey the ward, you take notice of the body lying on the table. You believe you have found Crasis...

Kill anything that gets in your way 0/5 (Arx Mentis)

Task Window Says: Although Tsalis encourages you to utilize stealth when traveling through the citadel, it may be necessary to dispatch anything that takes notice of you as you explore the halls.

Any five mobs on any floor of the Arx should update this step.

Speak with Tsalis 0/1 (Arx Mentis)

If you've been paying attention, you know this is "a noctis viratum".

You say, 'Hail, a noctis viratum'

a noctis viratum listens intently as you recount the details of your encounters. 'Crasis will be missed. He was a brave man amidst many cowards who will not speak out. I am glad to hear Serphus is well, he will prove valuable in weakening the praetor's hold on the populous. When you are ready, there are two more people I would like you to make contact with.'

Tsalis is certain that Serphus will prove to be a useful ally in uncovering and unraveling the praetor's plot. It seems there are at least two more people that Tsalis would like you to track down in the citadel whenever you are ready.

The final step was a little confusing, the step says to speak with Tsalis but in reality you just need to go back to the entrance and hail "a noctis viratum" to complete the quest.
