The Darkened Sea Info & Guides: Overview | Progression & Task List | Raiding | Visible Armor

This solo task is part of a series and begins with a noctis viratum (click for map image) at the zone-in of Arx Mentis.

Pre-Requisites for Requesting:
- Minimum Level 95

Say "citadel" to request the task.

You say, 'Hail, a noctis viratum'

a noctis viratum makes a beckoning motion, quietly, urging you to come closer without attracting any attention. His speaks in a hurried whisper, 'Don't let the praetor see you! They've been attacking foreigners on sight. The citizens are a bit more lenient, at least for now. If you intend to get anywhere here, you're going to need to access the [citadel].'

You say, 'The citadel?'

a noctis viratum continues his hurried whisper, 'That pyramid across the way is the junction between the city and the citadel. Every movement within the citadel is tracked, so I suggest you keep your guard up if you manage to survive the trip up.' The shadowy figure begins to detail the logistics of his plan...

You have been assigned the task 'Key to the Citadel'.

The shady figure hiding in the streets of the city is skeptical of your intentions but seems willing to work with you. Your first order of business will be attuning yourself to the Citadel portal.

'Obtain' a key from a praetor 0/1 (Arx Mentis)

Task Window Says: 'Obtain' an attuned portal key from one of the praetor. It is unlikely they will part with their key willingly...

Kill any NPC with "praetor" in its name to receive a "Praetor's Attuned Portal Key" on your cursor. Note that one of these mobs in the zone-in area is a named PH, so watch what you pull!

Make your way to the Penutarx Junction 0/1 (Arx Mentis)

Task Window Says: The citadel is divided into four accessible floors. When entering the citadel from the city you will be on the Protarx. Below the Protarx is the Teritarx that is off limits to any lower-ranking praetor. Going up the citadel sequentially from the Protarx are the Anetarx and Penutarx. Travel to the east end of the Penutarx to find the power junction that feeds energy to the inaccessible Apitarx.

This updates around /loc -35, -140, 175.

Kill 3 Penutarx Junction workers 0/3 (Arx Mentis)

Task Window Says: Eliminate some of the workers in the power junction.

Kill any three mobs in this room (any mobs count: humanoids and otherwise).

Grab the Key Attuner from the Arx Junction 0/1 (Arx Mentis)

"Portal Key Attuner" is a ground spawn at /loc 20, -190, 176 (This is a steaming clockwork-looking object sitting on the northeastern table in this room).

Give the Attuned Portal Key to the noctis viratum 0/1 (Arx Mentis)

Give the Key Attuner to the noctis viratum 0/1 (Arx Mentis)

Speak with the noctis viratum 0/1 (Arx Mentis)

Task Window Says: Speak with the shady figure to have him re-attune the portal key to your body.

You say, 'Hail, a noctis viratum'

a noctis viratum fiddles with the key attuning device for a moment before pointing it directly at you. You feel your chest heat up as the device emits a brief beam of blue light. The figure nods, 'You've done well. Perhaps you are ready for more.'

You are now attuned to the city's portal to the citadel. Though it seems your work with the shady figure has only just begun...

You can now use the portal on the pyramid to enter the floating tower without taking damage.

Despite getting a lockout timer, this task is not repeatable.
