Jungle Moss is not a ground spawn. It has to be obtained by using the foraging skill (something I had never done), which is an AA that must be purchased if you don't already have it, and then you have to create a button for it on the Actions / Abilities tab.
It took me around an hour, maybe more (it felt like more). It took until I got to level 36 foraging to get the moss (or anything at all). When I got the moss I got a pod of water with it. I have no idea if it matters where you are; like if you fail at one location should you move to another, or just stay put? I tried to stay near the base of trees since I read that is where it grows. When I finally got the moss I was at the base of a tree that was on the edge of the central river loop.

Pre-Requisites for Requesting: - Minimum Level 95 - Minimum apprehensive faction with The Thaell Ew Say "assistance" to request the task. You say, 'Hail, Supplier Thissus' Supplier Thissus says 'You have proven yourself trustworthy, _____. I need your [assistance] in shoring up our supplies, as our hunters and foragers have been losing ground to the jungle beasts.' You say, 'You have my assistance...' Supplier Thissus says 'Very good, we could use your help collecting the following...' You have been assigned the task 'Fortifying the Water Supply'. Supplier Thissus needs your help in obtaining purified water for cooking as both the freshwater rivers and the temple aquifiers are not suitable sources for his purposes. You will need to use a Tracker's Water Extractor and several Purification Tablets to extract water from the raw materials you gather. The extractor and tablets are available from the Thaell Ew shopkeeper in the eastern temple. You should be able to identify the Jungle Water Roots by their bluish hue. If you follow the river south of our temple as it winds to the west, you should be able to find several suitable harvesting locations. Rivercap mushrooms can be indentified by their subtle orange tint. They too grow along the banks of the river south of our temple. Jungle Moss can be foraged nearly anywhere on the island if you try hard enough. Dig up some Jungle Water Roots 0/2 (Thuliasaur Island) Ground spawns: blue/green plant-looking things along the sides of the river that runs west-east near the tyrannosaurus' nests. Gather some Rivercap Mushrooms 0/2 (Thuliasaur Island) Same area as above, appearing as tiny orange mushrooms in the water. Forage up a bit of Jungle Moss 0/1 (Thuliasaur Island) This can be foraged anywhere on the island. Extract Fresh Water from the Jungle Water Roots 0/2 (Thuliasaur Island) Now you'll need to do some combines. Visit "a Thaell Ew shopkeeper" in the zone. It sells unlimited Purification Tablets (you'll need five of them) and has a stock of 50 "Tracker's Water Extractor" containers. There are two ways to reset his inventory: Either kill him, or complete the task "Resupplying the Sundries". In a "Tracker's Water Extractor": Combine 1x "Jungle Water Roots" + 1x "Purification Tablet" to produce 1x "Freshly Extracted Water". (repeat for two combines) Extract Fresh Water from the Rivercap Mushrooms 0/2 (Thuliasaur Island) In a "Tracker's Water Extractor": Combine 1x "Rivercap Mushrooms" + 1x "Purification Tablet" to produce 1x "Freshly Extracted Water". (repeat for two combines) Extract Fresh Water from the Jungle Moss 0/1 (Thuliasaur Island) In a "Tracker's Water Extractor": Combine 1x "Jungle Moss" + 1x "Purification Tablet" to produce 1x "Freshly Extracted Water". Take off lev and shrink x2 in order to pick these up. Have to be under the water, which is about 2 inches deep.

After running around for an hour looking for roots, I finally stumbled upon them at 580, 898.

I spent more than an hour last night wandering up and down the river where the map shows the roots should be, AND tried to find them by the /locs above, AND looked for something with the appearance shown on EQ Resource. None of those approaches worked.
Also the /locs appear to be way further South than the river actually goes.
Any help, please?
