You get this after completing the goblin raider quest. The captain now wants you to hunt goblin battlemasters. They sometimes drop Goblin Bracers. Bring him 4 of these and you will receive a random piece of Faydark Ringmail Armor, which has the same AC as ringmail/chainmail, plus stat modifiers.

I spent 4 hours in WW trying for the goblin skull earring with no luck. All i know is that i had apprehensive faction with the Fv outpost prior to starting. Part of the strategy to get Grachnist to spawn is to clear the fort where he most commonly spawns. After several hours you should be able to get a decent enough faction raise to enter FV outpost. Also i Left with 14 bracers and those were the ones i had collected i ran out of room and had to let a few rot.

At one point this was worth doing. But now with all the newbie armor quests it seems kinda pointless to do this quest for the armor.

This armor quest is the easiest out there that I have seen so far. Just collect 4 goblin battlemaster bracers and turn them in for a piece of armor? No problem. They seem to drop about every third battlemaster that I kill. Being 25 ranger, they are green or lblue to me and go down easy, and are very abundant in the plain by the windmill. I can collect 8 in about an hours time. I have received 6 armor pieces so far, and all have been different. I also receive XP each time I turn these in, about the same as killing a blue mob. The worst part of the whole quest is the run from LOIO to FV past the spiders, but all you have to do is have Sow with Camo or Invis and keep a lookout for spiders crossing the stream. I am surprised that few people know of this quest or care to do it. I have asked many ppl about it, and they said they never heard of this type or the quest. True, killing the battlemasters at my lvl don't really give me any XP, but in the plain there are many blue mobs always popping that I kill while I wait for the next battlemaster to appear, which doesn't take long, even when there are groups trying to clean the plain. I plan on selling these off to other chars as an easy way to make money.

These pieces of armor shouldn't be used for fighting...they should be used for selling items! A full set gives +27 CHA. Add two opal encrusted steins, and that's +77 CHA. Folks, with that kind of...friendliness, I could probably fletch to vendors for a profit! And what about slowly replacing some of these items for better ones like a +4 Cha bracelet? Even more Cha!

you dont get any price improvement over 109 CHA with amiable faction. you can try this out and prove it by selling with 200 CHA and selling with 109 CHA. same prices.
Actually, if you are of a class with very low CHA or faction to start with, +77 CHA would mean a huge improvement in prices. I was also told that you get best prices at 135 CHA not 109.

Forget about hunting raiders in FV... I went to LOIO & killed Goblin Raiders near Cabilis in a Ruined building with Goblin Hunters. 3 Spawn at a time & I never had an Iskar NPC come anywhere near me. I believe these Gobbys are lower levels than their FV counterparts. Also might be named something other than Goblin Raider, I cant quite remeber but look for the ruined building w/ 3 gobby spawns. MUCH MUCH MUCH safer than running around FV searching for Raiders there!!

Aye, also if you have a level 45+ character you can clean up the Warsliks Wood Goblin City and grab many Bracers in the process. You can also kill Grachnist for his valuable Shrunken Goblin Skull Earring (which you keep for high level raids, or sell for 2K+), you can loot Iksar Bandit Gloves, and a somewhat rare totem I think (3 str 3 wis). If you aren't afraid of loosing the camp you can also run to and from the place where the Iksar Bandit Lord spawns and grab a Bracer of Scavenging.
By the way except for Grachnist the Destroyer, you can do all this at level 35ish solo. The Bracer of Scavenging is pretty good at that level.

I have Banded right now, which has more ac but is heavier and doesn't have stat modifiers. I am not sure weither to go with the banded or this. Which would be better for a Ranger with low str?

Faydark Ringmail Without a Doubt Is Better then Banded... or you can Just save up and get Ivy Etched or even some gnome skin.

I have in the past destroyed the bracers because I couldn't complete the quest, but I now know how. Get a levitate and trade through the floorboards. That's right the floorboards, just above the water. Get one bracer on your pointer and left click the crap outa the floorboards right beneath him. Eventually you will hit the right spot. Next, quickly add 3 more bracers in trade window and complete. Did this 3 times last night with no problems.

I should twink my lvl5 bard in this stuff. Im glad I finally have found a use for all the gobbie bracers ive been getting in LOIO by the windmill.

Is Shammy Bearform KOS here? I just found that i could use the Kelethin bank when in bear form. This would help a big tall barb shammy to get into those small elf doorways.

Bear form shouldn't be KOS, but in FV you don't have to go in any doorways to bank. There are those windows on the side of bank and bankers are right there...so you can bank from the outside.

I was wondering if it's possible to have a illusion mask: DE and then sing the bard invis song and avoid being attacked. I ran into the same problem as the barbarian. I have a vah shir bard. Not only I'm wearing still the equivalent of raw-hide it's really getting hard fighting mobs at my level. Anyone know a solution?

then I just went outside under water to use the mask and quickly started playing sonorous clouding. Then just open the door, run in, and remove the dark elf illusion effect. To get out, just stand at the doorway and use melifluous motion...
Kinda drawn out... but it works :/
P.S. never tried the rapid ducking thing.... hasn't seem to work what I have tried with ducking.

Just keep ducking and moving forward hitting the duck key constantly while trying to move in the door and you can get in

Is there any way a Big Barbarian can get to the captain? The bracers drop all the time aroung the windmill in loio

I have collected over 40 beads and 20 bracers, and was never able to complete this quest as a Barbarian because Keatar is too far from the window, and I can't get in the door. Wolf form is KOS in FV, and it seems invisible and wolf form is out, and no one is ever around that I can buy shrink potions from.
As the items are no drop, it really bites to have to destroy them.

Any quest that payes you twice for the same kill is a good quest. The coin, exp, and sellable ... if not wearable items are a bonus. Also, this is a good lower level(kill on the fly instead of sitting in a cramped room) guild raid.. the upper class always seem to have something to do.

i would just like to let u guys in on some info 1st off go to EGATLAS and make a map of FV LOIO FM OT and Warsilk Woods if u havnt already thier is a goblin fort thier wit tons of battle masters i was thier campin a named guy (something the destroyer) BTW hes tough at lvl34 for a ranger impossible to solo b weary but anyways i hunted the battle masters thier to pass time very easy at lvl 34 got 8 bracers in like 1 and a half hours its a dangerous trip for a low lvl but stick to the zone walls and youll b fine

Just got to FV yesterday with my ranger ... and I remembered this quest from Allakhazam. Said ranger is kitted out in Rygorr, (a nice ranger leaving the game found I was the only non-begging, non-twink newbie in the Gfay zone and randomly gave me it, yes I was lucky and thankful) but looking at the really BAD stats on this armour ... was wondering about the weight and look factor ... my SK in her banded can BARELY move (I have to cast Siphon Strength to even THINK of moving normally!) and maybe this armour would be good for her? Wonder if it still looks like Ivy on a DE SK ... "Hail, a Dark Elf Ranger." Drizzt Do'urden, anyone? /grin

I would have thought Sony would have made dark Elf Rangers by now. They could have been like the other races that have both good and bad classes. Would have been extremely fun to play.

Having done this quest to death, and still without the arms. (on the Rathe Server - hint hint) I can assure you they are totally random. I have even gone to the bank, worn every piece earned (I have everything except arms) and have gotten up to three copies of everything else.
Why people dont want to trade to complete sets is beyond me, but I think that eventually people get tired of collecting them, esp, since they are only ringmail class AC anyway.
I'm moving on to Ivy etched now, forget the FR. (but I would still buy a set of arms for 30pp if someone had them)

What kind of faction hits do you get from this quest?
I would like to know as well. Does this quest give the same faction as the Goblin Raiders quest? If so, your Legion of Cabilis faction will go up for hunting the gobs and then back down when you hand in the loot for the quest.

Do you have to hunt the battlemasters in FV or can you hunt the ones in Loio. Ive done the headband quest and ive thats really easy if your in loio but i havent seen any braclets on gobs yet. Any ideas

These bracers do drop in LOIO and i would say they are uncommon rather than rare. I collected 6 bracers after hunting Battlemasters for 2 hours. Easy quest plus some exp.

since none of the buildings are marked... the captain is in the back room of a duplex (fletching supplies) to the left of a short wood walk across from anoter duplex with a Barbarian,Ogre,and dwarf standing by a still.

yes you can, just ask "What about goblin battlemasters?" if you have enough faction with the people in firiona vie (which you can only get by killing goblins) then he will tell you to bring back 4 bracers. if you don't have enough faction, he will say that you cannot be trusted fully. if that's the case, just kill more goblins :)
when i first got to loio on lvl 18, i didn't have enough faction, but i got the faction in one lvl, so it's pretty easy for a wood elf. a human on the other hand is a different story, my husband has a human cleric and has had a hard time getting faction. so good luck!

It may be a well-kept secret. There is a bandit camp on island east of ogre island in Tim Deep (Island with Fallen Iksar skels) these bandits also give Firionia Vie faction.
and if your a bard you can play cinthias charasmatic carillion : )

I have done this quest a few times. Its easy for the reward, I still have a lot of newbie armor at 22, and the faydark stuff is at least a little better than what I have. I also have low charisma since im a dwarf, and this helps with merchant prices. The tuffest part of the quest was getting amiable faction. If you go to Ocean of Tears and ask to hit on Gornit the named cyclops, people usually let you do. The higher level gives you a more intense faction hit with firiona. Good stuff.
