NOTE: A patch on March 25, 2015, added a work-around to obtain items from Cazic Thule, Dread, Fright, and Terror:

- In the Plane of Fear, a harbinger of Fear can help adventurers get their epic 1.0 pieces that would normally drop from Cazic-Thule or the golems. These pieces cannot be multi-quested or traded. In addition, a harbinger of Fear can advance the Whistling Fists quest in the same way as Cazic-Thule.

Furthermore, a patch on April 22, 2015, added a work-around to obtain bottleneck items from Phinigel Autropos (Kedge Keep), Gorenaire (Dreadlands), and Talendor (Skyfire Mountains).

- In Kedge Keep, a harbinger of the seas can help adventurers get their epic 1.0 pieces that would normally drop from Phinigel Autropos.
- In Dreadlands, a harbinger of frost can help adventurers get their epic 1.0 pieces that would normally drop from Gorenaire.
- In Skyfire Mountains, a harbinger of flame can help adventurers get their epic 1.0 pieces that would normally drop from Talendor.

Full Walkthrough

The Warrior Epic quest begins with both Kargek Redblade and Wenden Blackhammer in East Freeport (click for map image). They can be found under a gazebo at -1300, -380 (just inside the North Ro gate).

Red Scabbard

Find Kargek Redblade in East Freeport.

You say, 'Hail, Kargek Redblade'

Kargek Redblade looks up from his forge and says, 'Hello there, can I help you?' Your eyes are drawn to an extremely large red sword scabbard strapped to his back with no sword in it. Kargek speaks again, 'I said, can I help you or do you need help from Wenden?'

You say, 'Tell me about that scabbard.'

Kargek Redblade turns to look at you and says, 'It is a family heirloom. I might tell you the story behind it if you do me a little favor.'

You say, 'What favor?'

Kargek Redblade says 'An associate of mine is wandering somewhere in the Feerrott. His name is Oknoggin Stonesmacker. If you will deliver this note to him, I would appreciate it.'

You receive a Wax Sealed Note. Take this to Oknoggin Stonesmaker in the Feerrott at 800, 1140 (by the main bridge across the river). Upon hand-in:

Oknoggin Stonesmaker snatches the note from your hand and rips it open with your large hands. 'You take dis to Kargek. He want!' Oknoggin says, as he throws a tiny lute at you.

You receive a Tiny Lute. Run back to East Freeport and give the Tiny Lute to Kargek Redblade to receive a book called Redblade's Legacy.

Kargek Redblade says 'Thank you for delivering the note to my associate. Take this book - it will tell you a little of the history of the old scabbard. If you would like to own the scabbard, seek out my younger brother Tenal and give him the book.'

You gain experience!!

Take the book over to his brother in East Karana - Tenal Redblade, who is at the very end of the canyon next to the ramp to Highpass.

You say, 'Hail, Tenal Redblade'

Tenal Redblade says 'What brings you to my home, ______? Do you seek knowledge of Rallos Zek and the great wars to come?'

Hand him the book.

Tenal Redblade says 'So, you know my brother Kargek. He is weak and does not believe the legend that our family was chosen by Rallos Zek to bear the great scabbard. Yet he still holds it. Very well, I shall give you the first test since my 'dear' brother seems to have forgotten it. Travel to the fortress where the children of Rallos were first cursed by the Rathe and bring me the heart of one of the goblins who have made it their new home. Do not return without the heart of your foe and this war totem.'

You gain experience!!

You receive a Frozen War Totem.

Go back to East Karana and hand Tenal the Totem of the Freezing War and a Heart of Frost.

Tenal Redblade says 'Very good, you have wreaked havoc on your foes in the ancient land of the giants. Rallos Zek must have guided your blade.' Tenal's voice is suddenly silenced and you feel as if your body is frozen. From Tenal's lips issues a voice that is not his own, 'Bring this mortal the scales of the children of Veeshan. The red and green as well as my war totem. I will guide your blade.' Your movement returns as Tenal falls to the ground, gasping for breath.'
You gain experience!!

He'll give you a Totem of Fiery War.

Now get yourself a Green and Red Dragonscale (from Severilous in Emerald Jungle, and Nagafen in Naggy's Lair respectively).

Go back to Tenal Redblade and give him the Totem of Fiery War, the Green Dragon Scale and the Red Dragon Scale.

Tenal Redblade looks at you oddly as you hand him the scales. 'What are..? You have done well, mortal, and you will be rewarded if you are truly brave. Travel to the Plane of Hatred and slay the ancient bard who lives there. Do not return without his hand and this mark or you will never be a true warlord.' Tenal drops to the ground as the last words leave his lips.
You gain experience!!

You receive The Mark of the Sword.

You'll now need to go to the Plane of Hate and kill the Hand of the Maestro (note: Hand is now pullable without having to kill Maestro of Rancor). You need to loot the hand, which is a rare drop. Bring that back and give it to Tenal along with the mark.

Tenal Redblade looks horrified as you give him the hand of the Maestro of Rancor and show him the mark of the sword. The godlike voice returns, 'You have done well to acquire this. One final task must be completed before you hold the red scabbard in your mortal hands.' Tenal reaches out and hands you a note. 'Take this note and a wingblade of the spiriocs to Kargek. When he receives them, I will speak to you one last time.'

You receive Tenal`s note to Kargek.

You now need a Spiroc Wingblade from the Spiroc Lord in the Plane of Sky. Take the Wingblade and the note to Kargek where he gives you the Red Scabbard and instructions on how to combine the Ancient Blade, Ancient Sword Blade, Finely Crafted Dragon Head Hilt, and Jeweled Dragon Head Hilt.

Kargek Redblade says 'What is this? A note from my brother? Thank you for the gift as well.' Kargek reads the note and hands you the huge sword hilt. Your mind is filled with the sound of battle and a voice. 'Place the ancient sword blade, ancient blade, finely crafted dragon head hilt and the jeweled dragon head hilt into the scabbard to receive your rewards. If you think you are worthy, place your rewards into the scabbard and see what havoc you can unleash on the world. Kargek addresses you as you turn to leave. 'One more thing. Gartrog over there has told me of a great discovery. Seems there are all sorts of stones being found in the recently discovered lost dungeons scattered around Antonica. The Wayfarer's Brotherhood has found a way to make items even more powerful by using the stones with existing items.'

You gain experience!!

Ancient Sword Blade

Talk to Denken Strongpick on Aviak Island in the Ocean of Tears.

You say, 'Hail, Denken Strongpick'

Denken Strongpick says 'Hello, ______. I am Denken Strongpick. I wish I could get off this rock, silly clan honor. My boss broke our rebreathers and we can not go back to the mainland before we gather some goblin relics.'

You say, 'What goblin relics?'

Denken Strongpick says 'There are supposedly goblin ruins around here somewhere. Fendlemend thinks we will find paydirt underwater. We did find one thing.'

You say, 'What did you find?'

Denken Strongpick says 'We found a very fine sword blade.' Denken pulls open his pack and shows you a razor sharp sword covered with runes. 'I can't figure out what type of metal it is and I sure can't figure out what technique was used to forge it. Perhaps you would like to take it off my hands and [buy] it?'

You say, 'I will buy it.'

Denken Strongpick says 'Out here, money is fairly useless to me. You see, I can't leave Fendlemend out here alone. I signed on with a very detailed contract. I could sure [use] a few things from the mainland though.'

You say, 'What could you use?'

Denken Strongpick says 'I would be willing to part with this very fine blade for; a keg of Vox tail ale, a block of permafrost to keep it cool and two new rebreathers to get this operation back underway.'

a) A Keg of Vox Tail ale - bought from alot of vendors around the world. A good place to buy one is the sandfishers in North Ro or the Freeport Port Authority.

b) A Block Of Permafrost - Dropped by Ice Giants. (while you're here, kill some goblin wizards until you find a frozen goblin heart -- you'll need it later).

c) Two Rebreathers - Tinkered by Gnomes. Expect to drop as much as 4k for getting two rebreathers.

Turn the Rebreathers, Keg of Vox Tail Ale, and the Block of Permafrost in to Denken:

Denken Strongpick says 'Excellent! Here is your sword. I feel like I'm at home already!'
You gain experience!!

You get the Ancient Sword Blade.

Ancient Blade

The Ancient Blade is dropped by the Queen of Chardok. Bring along a large group of friends.

Finely Crafted Dragon Head Hilt

Head to the chessboard in Timorous Deep. At the base of the King piece you'll find a Severely Damaged Dragon Head Hilt. Head back to Wenden.

You say, 'Hail, Wenden Blackhammer'

Wenden Blackhammer says 'What do you need? Be specific, I'm busy right now!'

You say, 'I have a Severely Damaged Dragon Head Hilt.'

Wenden Blackhammer says 'Where in the world did you drag that up?!' Denken peers closely at the severely damaged dragon head hilt. 'This metal is the same material that some mages use to make powerful golems and this other metal looks like rejesiam ore. If you can find some of those materials, I can fix this hilt up easily.'

You say, 'What kind of golems?'

Wenden Blackhammer says 'That metal is used as the 'soul' of powerful magical constructions like golems. I do not know any place in this world where you could find a golem with a living center as powerful as this once was.'

You say, 'What is rejesiam ore?'

Wenden Blackhammer says 'Rejesiam ore is from the lands of Kunark. The mountain giants in the frontier mountains control the only known mine of this great ore. They have built a vast fortress around the mine to protect it. The giants don't particularly like to trade with us smaller folks, but there is one old miner named Mentrax Mountainbone who has traded with me in the past. Go find him and tell him Wenden sent you.'

You'll also need a Ball of Everliving Golem. This drops from the named golems in the Plane of Fear: Fright, Dread and Terror. Since a march 2015 patch, you may also get it from a harbinger of Fear if the golems are not up.

Now go to the Dreadlands, to the giant fort just west of Karnor's Castle. You need to kill the Mountain Giant Patriarch and loot a Giant Sized Monocle. Take the Monocle to Frontier Mountains. Get to the giant fort and get inside. When you get to the very end of the Mine you will see the giant named Mentrax Mountainbone.

You say, 'Hail, Mentrax Mountainbone'

Mentrax Mountainbone says 'What be it you want! Go away before I eat you for dinner!'

You say, 'Wenden sent me.'

Mentrax Mountainbone says 'Oh, old Wenden? I guess you be wanting some ore. Well, you can't have none! Not unless you get me a new monocle. No. No. No. Don't even try to talk, you either bring me a new monocle that will fit or no ore for you!'

Hand him the Monocle.

Mentrax Mountainbone says 'Eh, you actually found one! Thank you, ______. Here is a block of ore for you. Just don't let the other giants know.'
You gain experience!!

You receive Rejesiam Ore.

Now run back to East Freeport with the Rejesiam Ore, Ball of Everliving Golem and Damaged Dragon Head Hilt. Give these to Wenden.

Wenden Blackhammer begins to work and hammer away at the hilt pounding the new material into it. You can see the metal shifting and moving in ways you have never seen metal move before. Wenden wipes his brow as he hands you a fantastic looking hilt.

You receive a Finely Crafted Dragon Head Hilt.

Jeweled Dragon Head Hilt

Head to Lake Rathe and pick up an Unjeweled Dragon Head Hilt. It can be found on the lake floor at +2513, +920, underneath the aviak tower. Then head back to Wenden.

You say, 'Hail, Wenden Blackhammer'

Wenden Blackhammer says 'What do you need? Be specific, I'm busy right now!'

You say, 'I have an Unjeweled Dragon Head Hilt.'

Wenden Blackhammer says 'That just looks like it's missing some gems. I'm not quite sure what type of gems either but I can tell you two things about them just by the settings. They were all different, and they all were very, very expensive. If I try to put the wrong kind of gems in these slots, it may be ruined forever. I'll do whatever you want, though, just bring me the three gems you want me to try and put in the hilt.'

You'll need to get a Diamond, Black Sapphire, and Jacinth. They drop in various zones (Sebilis, Planes) and can almost always be found for sale in The Bazaar.

Take the Unjeweled Dragon Head Hilt, Diamond, Jacinth, and Black Sapphire to Wenden:

Wenden Blackhammer begins to fiddle with the hilt, gently pressing the gems into place. It seems to take forever as you watch in silence. Wenden slowly places the last gem in place and gently bends the settings to hold the gems before he hands it back to you. 'That's a very impressive looking hilt there. The material it is made out of seems strangely familiar,' Wenden says as he turns back to his forge and his other work.

You receive a Jeweled Dragon Head Hilt.

Assembling the Sword

As originally instructed, place the Ancient Sword Blade, Ancient Blade, Finely Crafted Dragon Head Hilt and the Jeweled Dragon Head Hilt into the Red Scabbard to receive your rewards.

Combining the Jagged Blade of War in the Red Scabbard splits it into the Blade of Strategy and the Blade of Tactics. Combine the two blades in the Red Scabbard to get the two-handed version again.

Continuation of the quest
# Sep 20 2000 at 7:03 PM Rating: Decent
I think I have found another part of this quest. This log comes from two NPCs on the aviak island in the Ocean of Tears. The first is a gnome, the second a dwarf.

You say, 'hail Fendlemend Figlefop'

Fendlemend Figlefop sighs and looks up at you. 'What a horrible expedition! No goblin relics, not even some goblin dishes! My rebreather is broken and the only thing we [found]
was not even from the goblin empires!'

You say, 'What was it you found ?'

Fendlemend Figlefop huffs for a moment, looking quite upset. 'I found a silly sword blade. It is useless to me. The only thing I study is goblins, and this thing is definitely not
goblin in design.'

You say, 'What sword blade ?'

Fendlemend Figlefop says 'You will have to ask Denken about the blade. I gave it to him to get it out of my way.

You say, 'Who is Denken ?'

Fendlemend Figlefop says 'Denken is my dwarven excavator. He is taking a break while I try to fix our rebreathers. You might try up the hill near those aviaks. He has a tendency to fraternize with them

You say, 'hail Denken Strongpick'

Denken Strongpick says 'Hello, Mablung . I am Denken Strongpick. I wish I could get off this rock, silly clan honor. My boss broke our rebreathers and we can not go back to the
mainland before we gather some goblin relics.

You say, 'What sword did you find ?'

Denken Strongpick says 'We found a very fine sword blade.' Denken pulls open his pack and shows you a razor sharp sword covered with runes. 'I can't figure out what type of metal it is
and I sure can't figure out what technique was used to forge it. Perhaps you would like to take it off my hands and [buy] it?

You say, 'I will buy it'

Denken Strongpick says 'Out here, money is fairly useless to me. You see, I can't leave Fendlemend out here alone. I signed on with a very detailed contract. I could sure [use] a
few things from the mainland though.

You say, 'What can you use ?'

Denken Strongpick says 'I would be willing to part with this very fine blade for; a keg of Vox tail ale, a block of permafrost to keep it cool and two new rebreathers to get this operation
back underway.

So, many questions. Is this part of the same quest? The sword has runes on it, so maybe. What is Vox tail ale? Have I missed it, or is that new? Isn't a block of permafrost one of the new armor dye items?

Dual Particle Weapons?
# Sep 20 2000 at 6:21 PM Rating: Default
Err, isn't anyone else the least bit excited that the story mentions a PAIR of swords? To me, the news that every class would have some sort of 'special' weapon kind of watered down the 'specialness' of it. However, if Warriors get a PAIR of them, suddenly my Warrior feels a lot more special again.
RE: Dual Particle Weapons?
# Sep 20 2000 at 6:43 PM Rating: Default
Feel special, warriors get three:)

Heart and Soul, two 1h swords, according to rumour, that with the scabbard, can somehow become Heartsoul, a 2h version, which sort looks like both of them combine, with a few cool differences. This is all rumours of course, tho there ARE three models, so it's looking probable. No clue as to if the 2hversion and 1h versions will be able to switch back and forward using the scabbard, or it's a once only thing. (IE, can you stick the 2 1h swords in the scabbard, hit combine, and get the 2h back with the scabbard, and do the same thing to get the 2 1h swords, or once you make it 2h, is it bye bye 1handers?)
RE: Dual Particle Weapons?
# Sep 21 2000 at 9:13 AM Rating: Default
I'm guessing bye bye 1handers but then what's to stop you from doing the quest again and have all 3 :)
RE: Dual Particle Weapons?
# Sep 23 2000 at 1:09 AM Rating: Default
The ONLY thing stopping you from doing the quest again idiot is the F****ng DRAGON SCALES maybe. i am not sure but I think that these would be the SINGLE HARDEST piece you need for this puzzle.

RE: Dual Particle Weapons?
# Sep 21 2000 at 3:30 PM Rating: Default
no, you right click on the 2h you get the heart and sould 1handers. you can go back anytime... just a click.
RE: Dual Particle Weapons?
# Sep 21 2000 at 3:39 PM Rating: Default
ummm, then what do you need the scabbard for? if you can just right click the swords to get them to combine....
RE: Dual Particle Weapons?
# Sep 22 2000 at 1:12 AM Rating: Default

You right click the 2H to make it into 2 1H weapons. Put the 1H weapons into scabbard and hit combine button to make it a 2H weapon again. Nuff said
RE: Dual Particle Weapons?
# Sep 22 2000 at 6:26 AM Rating: Default
I am also making the assumption that the scabbard is required to make the hitls and blades rejoin as a whole unit. I suppose that Wended(sp?) the dwarf in east freeport near the redbalde guy might also remake the hilt and blades into the sword. It would be neat though if you could at least get the 2 swords made without the dragon scales and the scales only be a requirement if you want the 2hander.
RE: Dual Particle Weapons?
# Sep 24 2000 at 4:06 PM Rating: Default
If you have 2 one handers and you can click to make it a 2 hander then what do you do about the lore item part? can't have 2. duhhh
RE: Dual Particle Weapons?
# Sep 25 2000 at 12:47 AM Rating: Default
ok you have 1 one handed slashing weapon named heart and you have another 1 handed slashing weapon named soul you put em both into hilt to make Heartsoul the 2 handed slashing version...right click on it to get both 1 h versions back
it doesnt matter if there lore cause heart and soul are 2 different weapons. btw there are pics of these 2 awsome weapons
pretty kool lookin :)

look hard for em and yull find em
Felonius/Kargek Starting full dialog
# Sep 20 2000 at 4:43 PM Rating: Excellent
Here are the full starting conversations with both Felonius Sworddancer,Kargek Redblade, and a short conversation with Oknoggin Stonesmacker:

Felonius Sworddancer at the base of the ramp in East Karana....

You: Hail Felonius Sworddancer
Felonius: Hello, I am Felonuous Sworddancer. A traveling historian and storyteller. Would you care to hear a [Story]?
You: What story?
Felonius: I could treat you to a story about an ogre legend! But perhaps you would like to hear a story about the [gnome] that cried Kabold?
You: What ogre legend? (the [gnome] is just what it sounds like...the boy who cried wolf)
Felonius: Suteng was an ogre champion who walked the land long before the children of Rallos Zek were cursed. He feared no other creation of Zek and the children of the other gods were to be lauched at. It was at this time Rallos was seeking a warrior to unite all of his armies and lead them to battle against the forces of the other [gods].
You: What gods?
Felonius: Suteng was a great combatant, however he was far too cocky to become a suitable leader and this displeased Rallos Zek. One who respected no one could not do this. In order to test Suteng, who had grown far too confident, Rallos had his twin sons craft two swords to test his great ogre warrior's reaction and resolve. Rallos created a great red scabbard to hold the swords as [well].
You: What well? (lame responce choice for verant)
Felonius: The swords were like no others. Each one having an ornately crafted hilt and shaped like a dragon head. Sparkling diamonds, black saphires, and jacinth covered the handles as well. The razor sharp blades were covered in runes that glowed and [shimmered].
You: What shimmered?
Felonius: Suteng bowed in reverence to his Lord Rallos Zek as he was givin the weapons. Rallos warned Suteng that these weapons might destroy him if he were not truly worthy of leading his armies. Not heading Rallos' warning that the weapons may be too powerful for him to controle, Suteng gathered up a raiding party of his finest warriors to seek [battle].
You: What battle?
Felonius: They traveled across the lands in search of a suirable target. Finally they came across a goblin army camped upon the plains. Suteng sounded his battle charge and his band of ogres charged down the hillside into the army's [encampment].
You: What encampment?
Felonuis: With each swipe of their swords the ancient ogres slew many goblins. Suteng waded through the battle, his new weapons calling out for the blood of more powerful foes. His bloodlust grew with each kill, his blades spurring him onward. Ignoring his own wounds, he fought on until the goblin army was dead or scattered to the [winds].
You: What winds?
Felonius: Only the hulking ogres of the old remained standing on the blood-soaked plains. Suteng felt like a god and that would be his downfall. He looked to his companions, the great and powerful orge warriors with whoom he had killed and shed blood. Suteng felt nothing but contempt for them. They, of course, were weaker then, or at least so he [thought].
You: What thought?
Felonius: Without a second thought, Suteng stabbed the ogre nearest to him in the neck with one of the swords. His body moves like a whilewind of death, slaughtering his own companions. The ogres fought back valiantly, no match for Suteng with his enchanted [blades].
You: What blades?
Felonius: The laughter of Rallos Zek boomed across the plains as the lord of war appeared befor Suteng and took the weapons from the ogre's hand. The swords slashed into Suteng swiftly, killing him where he stood. The lord of war spoke to the remaining ogres in the battlefield explaining why he had [tested] Suteng.
You: What tested?
Felonious: He also told them that if the wished to wield the weapons, they would have to seek them our for they would be broken into pieces and spread across Norrath. The blades would not be whole again until a suitable warrior found the pieces, and gained the red [scabbard].
You: What scabbard?
Felonius: The lord of war handed the smallest ogre the great red scabbard and told him that if was his charge, and that of his family, to test any warrior who wished to have it.

Oknoggin Stonesmacker an ogre at the bridge in Feerot:

Oknoggin Stonesmacker glowers dubiously....
You: Hail Oknoggin Stonesmacker
Oknoggin Stonesmacker: Yoo leave me 'lone!
As a troll he glowered dubious to me. He may have the same faction as the Crakneks-ogre warriors, as they con the same to me. At any rate I didnt have the letter from Kargek to hand him yet. I dont know if he will accept it conning Dubious.

Kargek Redblade in East Freeport:

You: Hail Karget Redblade
Kargek: "Hello there, can I help you?" Your eyes are drawn to an extreamly large red sword scabbard strapped to his back with no sword in it. "I said, can I help you or do you need help from Wenden?"
(Wenden is a dwarf at his side)
You: What scabbard?
Kargek: It is a family heirloom. I might tell you the story behind it if you do me a little favor.
You: What favor?
Kargek: An associate of mine is wandering somewhere in the Feerot. His name is Oknoggin Stonesmacker. If you will deliver this note to him, I would appreciate it.
You recieve a sealed letter.

My only problem with this is he speaks about swords, as in more than one. That could just be a small flaw in the writing of the text but if there is more than one sword that could seriously ***** up all the time we've spent trying to figure this out. Oh well, good luck in the quest. I know we'll all need it.

Yea, he accepts the note if you are dubious. As for Felonius, he has nothing to do with the quest (at least not that Ive found) and is just there to provide some interesting background to the quest.

When you give the note from Karget to Oknoggin, you get this response:
Oknoggin Stonesmaker snatches the note from you hand and rips it open with his large hands. "You take dis to Kargek. He want." Oknoggin says as he throws a tiny lute at you.

Giving the Lute to Kargek gives this response:
Thank you for delivering the note to my associate. Take this book - it will tell you a little of the history of the old scabbard. If you would like to own the scabbard, seel out my younget brother Tenal and give him the book.

All of these people conned dubious but i was still able to do this part of the quest.

The book you are givin conflicts with Felonious' account of events. Its a short read:
Written by Kargek Redblade the 7th. Long ago our ancestor Thegrek the first was on the battlefield as a companion of Surtelk. With his might and quickness he slew many goblin warriors that day as did Surtelk with the help of his magical blades. When the great warrior went insane and was slain by our lord Rallos Zek the blades of Surtelk were spread across Norath until a true warrior who could controle the blades came forth. Rallos Zek himself took the great Red Scabbard and handed it to THegrek. It was to be his charge, and that of our family to hold the scabbard until a true warrior stepped forward to be tested.
As a son of the Redblade family it is your duty to protect the Scabbard and test those who think they are worthy of holding it.

This was my interaction with Tenal: (he is all the way to the back of the gorge that runs next to the ramp in East Karana)
You: Hail Tenal Redblade
Tenal What brings you to my home? Do you seek knowledge of Rallos Zek and the Great wars to come?
You: I seek knowledge of Rallos Zek
Tenal: The armies of Rallos Zek will rise up again, not just the ogres and the giants. I have seen the true path. We humans should also accept the Lord of War. We can cover Norath in a blanket of red and green blood.
At this point I handed him the book.....
Tenal: So, you know my brother Kargek. He is weak and does not beleive the legend that our family was chosen by Rallos Zek to bear the great scabbard. Yet he still holds it. Very well, I shall give you the first test since my 'dear' brother seems to have forgotten it. Travel to the fortress where the children of Rallos were first cursed by the Rathe and bring me the heart of one of the goblins who have made it their new home. Do not return without the heart of your foe and this war totem.
You recieve a war totem to bring with you.

Is it really the frozen heart from a goblin he is he is after soemthing new?

As I remember, (though I could be wrong) goblins werent cursed, it was the giants the were cursed by the Rathe. So is this a new drop on a Giant or is it as simple as getting a frozen heart from a goblin? =)

If you go to the EverQuest site (they may have taken it down in preparation for the expansion), there were several races that were part of Rallos Zek's army, Giants, Ogres, Orcs and Goblins. According to the new history, the Giants that were at the point of impact for the tribunal's punishment were nearly obliterated, those that survived were turned to ice, hence the Ice Giants. Those that were on the fringes were reduced in their powers, the rest. Those that were uneffected by it eventually made it to Velious. The Ogres were struck dumb, the Orcs were stripped to their most tribal abilities and the fate of the goblins was so severe that no record remains of what they were formerly capable of.

There is supposed to be a green dragon in the Emerald Jungle, although I have never verified this personally. Skyfire also should have a red dragon. Both the Skyfire dragon and Naggy drop red dragon scales (Just like Gorenaire and Vox drop white ones). As it is, anyone in the game can get a red and green dragon scale (assuming the Skyfire and EJ dragons exist).

There's a new named wurm in BW. Don't remember his name. its not Azdalin, Gylton, or Entalon. He conned white at 51 and is a caster. I pulled him for my group and lost 4 bubs health and never got him back to group. He was north of the giant fort when he showed on tracking. I know the named wurms drop dragon scales. So maybe this one drops one of the scales. He was a new npc right after the patch for the quests. Hope this helps.

Rumor has it that the 3 new dragons drop from 3 loot tables (Naggy's, Vox's, and their own) Also Faydader in TD drops from the Naggy and Vox tables....SO red dragon scales arent that hard to get if you cant do Naggy anymore. Of course if you put in the Naggy time early you just hang out in Sol on Naggy runs and trade your Red Dragonscale BP for the red dragon scale ;)

How it begins
# Sep 20 2000 at 11:15 AM Rating: Default
The quest begins in freeport, by hailing and talking to Kargek Redblade, Kargek asks you to take a letter to his friend Oknoggan Stonesmacker, Oknoggan gives you a small lute to return to kargek. When you return the lute to Kargek he tells you to give a book to his brother Tenal. When you give Tenal the book, he tells you to find the fotress where the children of Rallos were first struck by the Rathe, and bring the heart of one of the Goblins that lives there now. (This would be permafrost, heart of ice from a Ice goblin Wizard). After returning the heart and the totem you were given Rallos himself takes over Tenals voice. He tells you to bring him the scales of the children of veeshan, both red and green. I believe this means from Naugafen and Vox, but being lvl 40 havnt pushed that far....yet. The red dragon scale would make sense from Naggy, but I think Vox is a white dragon... the only green dragon I can think of is Trakanon... and he's not really green, kinda green/gray. I hope warriors don't have to go tromping through Veeshan's Peak to find their dragon scales...

Interesting enough there is a bard half elf going thru the HHP ramp to the right as you walk
up. When hailed he tells the story of Suteng, a mighty ogre warrior and how Rallos Zek tested
him by giving him 2 swords that his children created and a red scabbard. The ogre went with
his army and slaughtered a bunch of goblins then he did his army.. Rallos Zek took the swords
and kills him on the spot.

Then he says that Rallos Zek broke the swords and scattered them throughout Norrath (oh boy), and the red scabbard was given to and ogre and charged him and his pack to test
anyone that would be worthy of it.. Other story he tell is pretty much a Norrathian version
of 'The boy who cried wolf' LOL

Now go find that ogre!! )

Umm, Work on Faction?

Since it is a warrior quest, you may not have to work on faction WITH the NPC, as you are a follower of Rallos Zek, But having to work on faction seems a small price to pay to eb able to get the weapon. Look at everything a Pally has to do, INCLUDING making him/herself KoS in every part of FP but north. And since you have to go thru FP to get to the boats, and all, it CAN be a setback if you dont have a teleporting buddy.

Besides, it would be kinda stupid to just give it away without making a person work on it. You may have to do faction in FP, but suppose part of the quest is ALSO in Ogguk. Imagine all the Hummies and Half Elves workin thier faction there. Take MUCH longer.

East Karana at the bottom of the ramp to Hipass, There is an NPC there ( Cant remember his name now ) that when Hailed will tell you about the Ogre Legend ( or a story that goes nowhere about a Gnome ). It seems we are to Locate a Family of Ogres and get tested to Recieve a " Red Scabbard " that a Powerful Sword was once Carried in. No Idea where this Family is as i didnt have time to Travel around to try and locate them so we still need that info and what ever else comes with that.

Ok I have found Kargake Redblade, he is in East Freeport near the outside of the the necro/SK/theif guild he has a companion standing next to him. when hailed he talks about the red scabbard, and when asked about the scabbard he tells you that he wants a favor, to take a note to Oknoggin Stonesmacker in ferrot. I have had to use a newbie char to get this info becouse my warrior is an ogre, so can't readily go into there without getting attacked. I am about to go in a see if I can get more info on this.

Actually there is a response in that thread that is not bracketed if you read the other posts closely you will see that you must ask the storyteller about the ogres to open the real thread. Also DO NOT TAKE all he says at face value. THE SC ABBARD IS NOT ON AN OGRE. It is actually carried by an human NPC in east freeport. I think the story teller not being accurate is a way to add increased time to the quest. As if getting 2 dragons scales isnt going to take lots of time : )

What on earth does it mean when it says particle effects? Or particle weapon for that matter, it is not close to being self-explanatory, and I cannot find anything that explains it. Could someone please shed some light on this for us clueless people?
RE: Particle Effects?
# Sep 20 2000 at 9:23 AM Rating: Excellent
"Particles", or rather "Particle effects" is a 3D technology term for sprites displayed in the 3D world.

Whenever you see people casting, all those lights swirling around are "particle effects".

Particle Weapon means simply that the ultimate reward of this quest will be a weapon that is surrounded by light special effects. Currently, the only particle weapons known are Soulfire and Fiery Avenger, paladin swords that are surrounded by flames, and the guide/GM swords, which are ornate swords with sparks coursing along the blade.

In 2000, every single epic other than the monk and enchanter epics were particle weapons. Also, I am not sure if the final Iksar epic quests had particle effects.
RE: Particle Effects?
# Sep 20 2000 at 3:30 AM Rating: Decent
Particle effects means that the weapon has a special graphic attributed to it. If you've ever seen a Fiery Avenger, or some Gm slumming it down with us mere morts you'll have seen a weapon that has these particle effects. Basically it's just a neat little animation that accents the weapon/item in question.
