In Detail Speak with Lady Lendiniara to request the mission: You say, 'Hail, Lady Lendiniara' Lady Lendiniara says '[Cultist], [soldier], adventurer... it does not matter who you are; soon we will all be dead. Soon there will be nothing left to save. The rifts widen and grow in number. Ethernere spills into this world. You say you have gathered all of the [relics]?' You say, 'Cultist?' Lady Lendiniara says 'The Doomscale...small minds drowning in grief and despair, clinging to my scales, struggling to keep their heads above downward currents. Though I am the cause of their suffering, I am not their salvation. Even now the [currents] rise above my own head.' You say, 'Soldier?' Lady Lendiniara says 'Ignorant men planning ignorant deeds. They will make war upon me, the destroyer of the Karanas, the bane of Qeynos. Not one of them has crept to the edge of the pit and seen for himself whether I bear these titles in truth! No, men will be swept away by the [currents] of fear and the blind belief in the commands of their superiors.' You say, 'What currents?' Lady Lendiniara says 'We will all soon drown in the mists that pour into these Karanas. The barrier I ruptured upon my [arrival] disintegrates. Your world is turning to gray. Everything shall be lost in [Ethernere]' You say, 'What about your arrival?' Lady Lendiniara says 'Recent events swirl in my mind like a gray thunderhead. My passage here was a flight through a great cloud of thunder, a cataclysmic cacophony. My vision still dims trying to recall all of it, but I shall endeavor to [recount] what I can.' You say, 'What is the Ethernere?' Lady Lendiniara says 'It is a world between worlds, the way station of the dead. Any being that dies, god or mortal, rides its currents to their eternal home. It is a vast stream, with infinite tributaries, flowing to all corners of existence. Most of the dead sail to their destinations in silent slumber, but some founder on the shores and linger. Perhaps they join the [Harrowing Horde] or wander endlessly.' You say, 'Well, recount it!' Lady Lendiniara says 'I came from a world much like yours. I recognize these lands as the Karanas I knew in my own time. That is the way of things: There must be a world for everything conceivable, for every possibility. And in my world there was also Kerafyrm. This sleeping dragon awoke, and he came to destroy me. I, the keeper of the Claws of Veeshan and wielder of chronomagic, was one of the first he tried to devour in his attempt to swallow the world. My chronomages readied my [retreat] to deny the Sleeper his victory.' You say, 'How did you retreat?' Lady Lendiniara says 'I flew past time itself. In a shell of magic I shot through the fabric of time and space, like an arrow loosed over a waterfall. I knew not where I headed as I plunged into the stream of Ethernere, rending a surface that is so nigh impenetrable to the living. As I coursed through its currents, I saw the throngs of the dead open their eyes and stare at my passage. I saw the Horde teeming at my tail. And I heard the [call] floating to me from a far off void.' You say, 'The call?' Lady Lendiniara says 'It was a sad voice, filled with despair and tinged with a growing madness. It called for me to meet it in the void, to bring to it the knowledge of one who has passed through the realm of the dead while yet living. He called me to tell him the secret of life and death, and he would unlock for me a trove of knowledge so vast that I could spend an eternity and not fathom half of it. This forsaken voice was the last I heard before I broke through the [other side].' You say, 'The other side?' Lady Lendiniara says 'When I ripped into your world, I brought with me the disaster you now see. Time, space, and Ethernere now bleed into your world, and likely into mine. In my attempt to save one world, it appears I have doomed all of them. As I lay here in the pit, exhausted from my arrival, I saw forms rushing around me: the Horde, the spirits of the dead, and powerful [creatures] whose beings radiated malevolence.' You say, 'Tell me about the creatures' Lady Lendiniara says 'While I was yet weak, one of these creatures stepped from the mists and stood before me, laughing cruelly before walking out of the pit. Many more like it must have passed into your world as I lay in a weakened slumber. It has already begun. The waters are [rising].' You say, 'Rising waters?' Lady Lendiniara says 'The Ethernere stream rushes through the gash I tore, filling up this world like a reservoir. No doubt the same will happen in my world. _____, we must repair the breach. I am no threat to you or the inhabitants of this land. I only wish to [stop] what I have set in motion, to undo the destruction my actions will bring. _____, we must heed the call.' You say, 'How can we stop this?' Lady Lendiniara says 'The portal behind you leads to the void, to the voice I heard. It may know how I can return to my own world and repair the barriers between the lands of the living and Ethernere. Hurry, before all is lost!' You say, 'What about the Harrowing Horde?' Lady Lendiniara says 'Even I know not the true nature of the Horde. Do the masses of lost dead fill their ranks? Did Ethernere itself give birth to them? I know the Horde are the keepers of Ethernere, maintainers of its purity. They see the dead to their resting places, and they cleanse the stream of anything that does not belong. The Gehein, Tirun, Skirth, and Orafik: You have seen them in the Karanas. My [arrival] has brought them here, and they continue to seek purity. As Ethenere seeps out, they will cleanse everything, and everyone.' You say, 'About the relics, I have all of them...' Lady Lendiniara says 'No, there is another. That dark elf woman, Lanys, speaks with Zebuxoruk, teasing from the Forsaken's riddles the locations of relics. The final [piece] lies beyond the rift, within the world from whence I came.' You say, 'What piece?' Lady Lendiniara says 'A staff most powerful, bound to that world. It is the [link] that will see me to my home and, fortune willing, repair the rift.' You say, 'What is the link?' Lady Lendiniara says 'I can see the threads connecting us across the abyss. I can chart the paths we must take to heal the great wounds in time and space. But nothing is certain as my reality bleeds into yours. Yet another [passageway] opens, and I ask you to traverse the abyss and return with the staff.' You say, 'A passageway?' Lady Lendiniara says 'I can feel the tug of my home world and hear a voice calling for answers from within the portal. My place is here, to await the ritual that can both send me home and avert the cataclysm. You must be the hands that clasp these drowning worlds and recall them to life. You must [retrieve] the staff!' You say, 'I will retrieve it' Lady Lendiniara says '[Go] now.' You have been assigned the task 'A Guide Beyond the Rift'. Lady Lendiniara has asked you to traverse the Ethernere and retrieve the most powerful relic from her world. You say, 'Let's go!' Lady Lendiniara says 'Return with the staff!' LOADING, PLEASE WAIT... You have entered The Other Side of the Rift. Speak with the holder of the staff 0/1 (Plane of Growth) Task Window Says: Seek the holder of the staff within Lady Lendiniara's world. Firiona Vie sits in what may seem like a familiar place... You say, 'Hail, Firiona Vie' Firiona Vie opens her eyes as she stirs from her meditation. She looks intently at your face. 'You stare as though you know me. Forgive me, adventurer, but you appear strange and unfamiliar. Your garb... it is as though you stepped out of the mists of time, a ghost arrived to condemn or warn us. [Which] is it?' You say, 'Which is it?' Firiona Vie pauses for a moment, weighing your words before continuing. 'I came here to contemplate. I can always tell when the seasons are about to change. Even before the snow begins to melt, through my Lifeguide I feel creatures stirring, returning to life. I know when the sleepers are about to [awaken].' You say, 'Awaken?' Firiona Vie says 'What you have told me -- the Sleeper, the Dragon, the cataclysm of Ethernere -- echo and amplify the whispers of the Lifeguide. If you speak the truth, soon my world will be as endangered as your own. However, whispers can be misheard, and strangers can lie.' Firiona Vie reaches for your hand and places it upon her staff. 'So that we may find the [truth].' You say, 'What's the truth?' Firiona Vie's eyes close, and her pupils dart beneath their lids. Her brow darkens as flashes of recent events flow through the staff from your mind to hers. She opens her eyes and draws the Lifeguide away from your hand. 'I had almost hoped you were a liar. I see how it must be. Lady Lendiniara must return to my world. She belongs in yours no more than I do. The [Lifeguide] shall journey with you.' You say, 'The Lifeguide?' Firiona Vie raises her staff and looks wistfully at its gem. 'Though I may never see the Lifeguide again, I commend its power to you. Without such sacrifice, all that we know will be swallowed in the gray night. [Return] to your world before regret overcomes me. I now have much to do here, for surely the actions I am about to take will one day send you to me at this very moment.' Firiona Vie hands you her Lifeguide, and you store it away for the return to your world and the upcoming ritual. Speak with Lady Lendiniara 0/1 (Ethernere Tainted West Karana) Task Window Says: Firiona Vie has not yet seen the cataclysm occur in her world, and she must remain there to ensure events unfold properly to make the moment of your meeting possible. She has given you the Lifeguide to complete the ritual and close the rift. Tell Lady Lendiniara you have the staff. You say, 'Ready to return...' Firiona Vie says 'I pray to all the gods that soon we will sing the name of _____, who emerged from beyond the gray chasm and saved not one world but two!' LOADING, PLEASE WAIT... You have entered Ethernere Tainted West Karana. Speak with Lady Lendiniara to complete the mission. You say, 'Hail, Lady Lendiniara' Lady Lendiniara says 'You have the staff; I can sense its power and the familiar essence of my world. The time has come to close the rift.
