NOTE: A patch on March 25, 2015, added a work-around to obtain items from Cazic Thule, Dread, Fright, and Terror:

In the Plane of Fear, a harbinger of Fear can help adventurers get their epic 1.0 pieces that would normally drop from Cazic-Thule or the golems. These pieces cannot be multi-quested or traded. In addition, a harbinger of Fear can advance the Whistling Fists quest in the same way as Cazic-Thule.

Full Walkthrough

The quest starts in Nektulos Forest where you must find Venenzi Oberzendi. She is at location -1140, -260 post-post-revamp.

You say, 'Hail, Venenzi Oberzendi'

Venenzi Oberzendi says 'What is it you want! Can't you see I am gathering reagents for my [master]? If I don't get them for him quickly he might punish me.'

You say, 'Who is your master?'

Venenzi Oberzendi says 'You do not know of my teacher? The great Kazen Fe'cae! I am one of his illustrious apprentices! If you fancy yourself a necromancer, travel to Lake Rathetear and tell Kazen you wish to study the dark arts.'

You say, 'What reagents?'

Venenzi Oberzendi says 'My master is working on some great project. He's always busy studying an old text he found and murmuring something about following in the footsteps of Miragul.'

Her Master, Kazen Facae, is at location +340, -1600 in Lake Rathetear.

You say, 'Hail, Kazen Fecae'

Kazen Fecae 's eyes seem to glow as he turns to you and says, 'Leave me be if you have no reason to be here, mortal!'

You say, 'I wish to study the dark arts.'

Kazen Fecae looks you up and down, his eyes glowing with a soft red light. After a moment he begins to speak though his lips do not move. 'You wish to study under me? Perhaps, if you prove yourself to follow the twisted path. If you prove to be as coldhearted as I then I will let you become my servant.'

You say, 'How can I prove myself?'

Kazen Fecae says 'The wandering 'knight' Sir Edwin Motte recently slew one of my lesser servants. This foolish knave travels from town to town pretending to be 'good.' Separate his head from his body and return it to me so I may work my magics upon it. This fool will become another plaything for me, even in death.'

Sir Edwin Motte is a 33rd level Paladin. He is found in four places throughout Norrath. The easiest place to find him is at the Docks in East Freeport. He spawns fairly frequently in Seafarers Roost. Once he has spawned, kill him and loot his head. Bring the head back to Kazen for the Symbol of the Apprentice.

Kazen Fecae says 'Excellent!' You watch Kazen hold the head by the hair and begin to cast a spell. A flash of darkness centers around the head and the eyes of the dead knight open, a terrible scream emanating from its lips. 'This poor fool here - I think I will keep him in my bag from now on. You have done well, my new apprentice. Take this symbol and know that you can do other tasks to advance within my apprentice ranks.'

You say, 'How can I advance?'

Kazen Fecae says 'I share great secrets with my more powerful servants who show me they are willing to serve without question. Tell my servant the name of any symbol he gives you and he will instruct you. If I give you a symbol, speak its name to me so I may instruct you.'

You say, 'What about a symbol of the apprentice?'

Kazen Fecae says 'You have a long way to go before I teach you the true secrets of life and death. Visit Venenzi Oberendi in the Nektulos forest and show her the symbol. She is collecting reagents for one of my experiments and is taking far too long. I do not wish her dead, yet. I simply need the reagents soon. Retrieve the reagents and give them to my assistant Emkel Kabae. I do not wish to handle them myself.'

Take the symbol to Venenzi and she will give you the Twisted Symbol of the Apprentice.

Venenzi Oberzendi says 'I see you serve my master as well now. I assume you are here to take the reagents from me which I have gathered for him? I don't know if I like the idea of you gaining the credit for my hard work here. I might consider giving you these reagents, if only you do a small [task] for me.'

You say, 'What task?'

Venenzi Oberzendi looks down at her robes and back at you. 'There is a certain dark elf magician who has decided to wear the same fashion as I have on several occasions. I do not wish to attend another social gathering in Neriak and look exactly the same as another woman. Slay her and bring me her robe and I will give you my hard earned reagents.'

The robe she speaks of is a Flowing Black Robe. This is dropped in Najena by - you guessed it - Najena. It would surely be quicker to visit The Bazaar and buy one off a player. Regardless of how you obtain it, head back to Venenzi and hand it over.

Venenzi Oberzendi says 'Thank you. I did not think you would track down Najena and slay her. I think that I am going to return to my old life in Neriak. I am sick of the way Kazen has been treating me. He never seems to teach me anything worthwhile. Don't forget to give his lapdog that symbol with the reagents. I'm sure he will give you a new one.'

You will receive a Rolling Stone Moss. Now you will need to go back to Lake Rathetear and find Emkel, Fazen's Apprentice. He is by the stone skeleton tower.

You say, 'Hail, Emkel Kabae'

Emkel Kabae says 'I am Emkel Kabae, first apprentice to Kazen. If you have a symbol, tell me its name.'

Give him the Twisted Symbol of the Apprentice and the moss for the Symbol of the Serpent.

Emkel Kabae says 'Very good, you have done as the master asked yet again, take this as a reward.' Emkel reaches into his robes and pulls out a small symbol. He holds it out and the tiny symbol floats to your hand.

You say, 'What is the symbol of the serpent?'

Emkel Kabae says 'There are more reagents to be gathered. The time draws near for our master's ascension. Travel to the lands of Kunark and seek out Ssessthrass. He is a very wise Iksar herbalist helping me in my endeavor to please Master Kazen. Be careful not to insult his speech, or you may end up dead before you serve your purpose to the master. Be sure to show him the symbol as proof or he may consider you dinner.'

You will need to take this Symbol to Ssessthrass, a named Iksar in the Swamp of No Hope. He is at location +3800, +1600, which is in a house in the pass to go to Field of Bone. He will give you Scaled Symbol of the Serpent.

You say, 'Hail, Ssessthrass'

Ssessthrass says 'I do not wisssh to be bothered.'

Give him the Symbol of the Serpent.

Ssessthrass says 'Sssso, Emkel ssssent you to retrieve the manisi herb? I do not have the herb. The ssssarnak guard the herb. Apparently it is ssssacred to them. Only memberssss of their royal family are allowed to partake of it. They live deep in Chardok. They are hoarding what little of the precious herb there is. If you have an army, perhapssss you can bring me the herb and I can prepare it for Emkel. Bring back this ssssymbol as well.'

Next, head to Chardok and find the Herbalist. His spawn point is at the green house near the bank (first right after you cross the bridge). He doesn't always drop the Manisi Herb, which is what you need from him so you might have to try this more than once. Return to Ssessthrass and give him the Manisi Herb and the Scaled Symbol of the Serpent.

Ssessthrass looks at you and bows. 'You are truly a fearsome sssshadow weaver! Or you have powerful alliessss,' he adds a moment later. Ssessthrass pulls the manisi herb apart and hands a piece to you. 'Emkel will be most pleased with us both!'
You gain experience!!

You receive a Refined Manisi Herb. Head back to Emkel and give him the Refined Manisi Herb.

Emkel Kabae says 'You are truly worthy of studying with our master. Bear this new symbol and contemplate what you wish from life before you let go of it. Ask the master about the symbol of testing and he will explain all. I too was tested by him.' Emkel pulls up his sleeve to show a grievous scar from his wrist to his shoulder.'
You gain experience!!

You receive a Symbol of Testing.

You say, 'Tell me about the symbol of testing'

Emkel Kabae says 'You must ask the master about the symbol of testing. Do not hand the symbol to him for he may interpret that as a breach of conduct.'

Return to Kazen and tell him about the symbol:

You say, 'I have a symbol of testing'

Kazen Fecae says 'Show me that you can overcome larger obstacles and manipulate servants. Gather a force for of mercenaries if you like, or so-called friends, if you desire, and prepare for battle, my promising young student. Return to me with the symbol of testing when you are prepared for battle with my creations. Have no fear, I will not slay you myself. If you do live, tell me the name of the symbol you receive.'

Hand him the Symbol of Testing.

Kazen Fecae says 'As you hand Kazen the symbol, you hear him speak directly into your mind. 'Good luck, my student!' Kazen finishes an incantation and suddenly hands begin to reach up from the ground, as if they were pulling themselves from the grave all around you. A piercing scream fills the air as the creatures advance upon you!'

a bone golem says 'Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!'

A bone golem spawns to the east of Emkel on a little inlet. Upon its death, a failed apprentice spawns and attacks. Upon its death, a tortured soul spawns and attacks as well. You can kill these with two groups of 50+. With a few clerics and tanks, they shouldn't cause trouble. They hit for ~120 and are not overly difficult.

Loot a Symbol of Insanity from a tortured soul.

Upon asking Kazen about the symbol:

You say, 'What do I do with the symbol of insanity?'

Kazen Fecae says 'It is time for you to meet my partner, so to speak. Drendico Metalbones is his name and I assure you he is quite mad. His mind has been rended by fright, dread, and terror in his trips to the planes and his heart is full of hatred now. He has a tome which I wish you to use. Show him your symbol slowly and listen to his rantings well, they hide great knowledge.''

Take the symbol to Drendico Metalbones in Timorous Deep (he is located near the dock that takes you to the Overthere). If you turn right from the docks and climb onto a stoney hill, you will see this little gnome wandering around +6485, +3829.

You say, 'Hail, Drendico Metalbones'

Drendico Metalbones says 'The hills ears keep spinning the wonders of wells. Twisting twisting fly in water scar hot horses. Teach me! Bring floating water islands of doom!'

Give him the symbol.

Drendico Metalbones says 'Seek, search, turn, twist! Kazen hopes to death master truly! Read out, read in between! Talk to the pretty clouds.' Drendico turns his back to you and throws a book over his shoulder. 'Bring back book! Bring back reagents three!!' He shouts as he mumbles some more gibberish.'

You receive his journal. It reads (backwards):

must find for master kazen

feathered spiroc cloak
eye innoruuk of
slime of blood thule cazic

grocery list
milk
bread
soap
fippy snacks

I am quite mad you know
You'll need to pick up a Cloak of Spiroc Feathers, the Eye of Innoruuk, and the Slime Blood of Cazic Thule.

The Eye of Innoruuk drops from mini-bosses in the Plane of Hate (also from Innoruuk himself).

The (Slime) Blood of Cazic Thule is dropped off of Terror and Cazic Thule himself. Needless to say you'll want to bring a few friends for this fight.

To get the Cloak of Spiroc Feathers, complete the linked "Necromancer Test of Power" quest in the Plane of Sky.

Take the cloak, eye, blood, and the journal to Drendico.

Drendico Metalbones turns to you in amazement. 'You actually did it! These are the correct components! Kazen will be most pleased. I searched the planes for almost a year and could not find all the correct components.' Drendico fiddles with the components, puts them into a box and hands it to you. 'You must have access to an army, _____. Return the components to Kazen quickly.'

You receive a Prepared Reagents Box. Take this to Kazen:

Kazen Fecae stares through you at the horizon, pausing as he reaches into his robes. Kazen pulls out a scythe with a shimmering black blade that seems too large to have been hidden there. As quickly and gracefully as it was displayed to you, it is returned to the void inside Kazen's robes. 'It is a creation of Miragul which was looted from his lair under the ice. Take this tome, it will be your final task for me as an apprentice.'

You receive a Tome of Instruction.

Now, head to the Plane of Sky and speak with the Thunder Spirit Princess on the port-up isle.

You say, 'Hail, a thunder spirit princess'

a thunder spirit princess says 'Greetings, travelers, welcome to the Plane of Sky! We are thunder spirits - this first island is our home. You are welcome to stay here as long as you like. If you wish to go to other islands you may purchase keys from the Key Master.'

You say, 'Tell me about Gkzzallk'

a thunder spirit princess says 'Gkzzallk lives far above here. We often take him tea because he's so nice to us fairies! He likes to chat with the others who live here and can often be found in the temple up above. If you give me a bit of money, I can go make sure he is home.'

Give her 10 gold pieces or 1 plat.

a thunder spirit princess says 'Thank you, _____. I will tell him to expect visitors.'

Click up to the third isle where you'll find Gkzzallk.

You say, 'Hail, Gkzzallk'

Gkzzallk says 'Hello Stranger, would you care for some tea?'

Hand him the tome:

Gkzzallk screams as he touches the book. His body shimmers as he shrinks smaller and smaller until it's no larger than an insect. The book shimmers, shifting into the shape of a small, black box. Gkzzallk holds on to the opening of the box as he is sucked backward into it. The tiny screams are finally silenced as the box top closes.

You receive "Gkzzallk in a Box". Take this item to Kazen.

Kazen Fecae grins widely and his eyes flare a deep red. The scythe he promised you flies through the air and into your hand. 'Enjoy your toy, I have no more need of you as a servant.'

You receive the Scythe of the Shadowed Soul.

I was really wanting to do this quest till I looked over the details. Compared to the risk vs reward this quest is awful! I mean you have to visit all 3 of the old world planes unless you have 400k to buy the hate/fear items. Then to top it off you have to fight a raid mob with crappy loots (other then epics of course) that MAY or MAY NOT drop the freakin item you need! And I imagine soloing even at higher levels is out of the question on the Posky mob since it deathtouchs...thats real fair.

They should have knocked out all of that plane of sky stuff and instead just added a required no drop item from Old Seb or something. Anyways when I look at the difficult of this quest as to say the Druids epic I think the druids get a better item and less risk. I imagine the dot this weapon casts probably has the same resist check as a darkness spell, which means it will not be uncommon to get resisted ALOT.

Basically since I am not loaded Id have to try and get loot from a POF golem, which once again doesn't always drop. Since there is so many lvl 70 super geared toons you can't hardly find named in fear because you have people sitting there waiting for them to respawn for that AON (and heck for selling the necro epic). I probably could afford the eye of inny, its only 5 to 6kish. Its hard to get any help with epic 1.0's because most guilds simply do not care enough about them to help.

I guess this is why I see so few necros with epic 1.0.

If you die to one of the 3 mobs having given the Symbol of Testing to Kazen do you have to start all over again?

I can confirm that if you die during Kazen's test, you do not have to start over - as long as no one in Lake Rathetear kills the mob you're on, it will hang in one place until you gather your group and come back for it. I wouldn't recommend logging for long periods of time, but I definitely took about an hour to gather a better force, and the bone golem just hung in the lake waiting to be attacked.

I can't believe I am doing the 1.0 at level 70 with a 11K Mana Necro, but after looking at the bypass and needing a group for the 5 Wolves on the first step, "Thats rediculos SOE btw", and seeing I can preaty much solo out or buy what I need in bazaar for the actual 1.0, I will go with the 1.0 , cause like most good Necros, I hate trying to formup a group.

Anyhoo, took me about 2 hours to get him after I figured out that your either going to get very lucky or have to keep his PH spot open for him and hope he hits a pop on the zone your in. I choose the Freeport Bar spot and just kept killing everything that popped in it with FD on to avoid the agro and Levant loaded in case I agroed a guard. Levant is cool here cause you get rid of the unwanted agro and your zone in spot for Levant is right on the same dock a couple of hundred yards down from the Bar.

Finaly figured out the spot he was going to spawn in next to the table after going thru enough PH's and reading this thread. It seems the PH's take up a spawn somewhere else, because you keep getting the same ones over and over again until you hit a new cycle. This probably bodes well that you will hit Sir Edwin if you just stay on PH spot thats next to the 3 Bard pops by the door. I saw 3 different PH's on Sir Edwin's spot, a Male Dwarf, a Male Barbarian and and a female DE over the course of the couple of hours.

The best advice on this is just FD kill the pops with the pet to keep the agro and bad faction off you, and if you do get a Guard on you, just have Levant loaded and hit it and run back the short distance to the bar.

Just thought I'd add that I got Sir Edwin using the tunnel to West K method. There is another Sir somebody knight there that looks just the same, but when he walks by, invis and follow him until he turns and goes past the guard tower. Once he is a 'safe feeling' distance away, let pet drop him. Sir Edwin will spawn right by there, and walk infront of you as he begins pathing. Killed with ease for a 68 necro.

All in all, the efforts necessary for the 1.0 now seems much easier then the hassle of doing the 1.5 pre-quest. Any group of 65-70, or a handful of guildies can take fear and hate mini-names with out trouble.

I just to the last fight with the cape, then I go to look up your walkthrough page and i get a page that says "this page is currently disabled". I don't know any other walkthough pages and yours was the best I've seen. I failed to save any copies of your page man. I'm very sad right now. Please get your page back, and up & running asap.

Drexxel....amazing. Thank you so much for the dedication and hard work you have put into all of your guides. They have truly been a lifesaver...especially in dealing with Plane of Sky and the Necro 1.0. I notice it has been a couple of years since you retired so I dont even know if you check back and read this but in case you do you are greatly appreciated. Its incredible to see that despite having this information available, the actual page here for the 1.0 has not been updated in the 2 years since you created your guide. I was so lost and confused it was crazy until I came across your link. Once more....THANK YOU!

Cloak of Spiroc Feathers can be MQ'd. I did mine last night. As a side note, it doesn't appear to be a level restricted turn in, as I was 40.

It sounds like you're really asking if the "Prepared Reagent Box" is MQable. And the answer *probably* is "Yes".

As far as I know, anything that requires just *turning in* items (without doing a "combine" first on your end) is MQable. Since you need to turn in 4 items (Journal of Drendico, Cloak of Spiroc Feathers, Slime-Blood of Cazic-Thule and Eye of Innoruuk) to Drendico, it seems that your friend can first turn in the Cloak, and then you can turn in the other 3 items and then you should receive the "Prepared Reagent Box".

Drexxell

P.S. FYI, to answer your original question (which isn't quite what you wanted to know), the answer is that the Cloak of Spiroc Feathers *should be* MQable, since it requires just 3 items turned in to Jzil GSix, without a pre-combine.

Drexell's walkthru helped alot, one of if not the best I've seen for a walkthru, I got this from start to finish in about 3 days, paid 100k for slime blood, and 4k for eye, alrdy had spiroc feathers and silver disc, went up and killed KoS with 2 people and he dropped it the first time, I MQd it for my necro, got the manisi herb in about an hour to 2 hours, the suckiest part was camping sir edwin motte in qeynos hills, the best way to camp him I found is wait on the road leading to WK, and whatever mob comes running from that roadway will be his
PH, so if u see a mob actually running in QH and hes on the road, he's motte's PH.

oh yea, the clicky is ok I guess, it does do 75 dmg + snare, but 9.0 second casting time is way too long, I am barely able to complete the casting time of it while kiting before the mob gets to me, for the trouble it takes to get this thing, I'd rather have the clickie do way less damage, but snare it the same for a reduction of casting time, 9.0 seconds just seems like days to cast

Nope. Go to first island, turn in 10gp to the princess to spawn Gkzzallk up on Island 3. Then inviso, key your way to island 2 (which is aggro, but nothing sees invisible), and quickly on to island 3. Island 3 is non-aggro (just don't go through the chat with Gorgalask, as that WILL set him off to attack you).

When you arrive on island 3 you'll be staring Gkzzallk right in the face. Turn in, take the box, and jump home. Safe and sound.

I assume you mean on the second trip to Plane of Sky. You don't need to clear anything in Sky at all to do the hand-in. The first island is non-aggro. The second is aggro, but you can invis through it. I believe the third island is non-aggro, but I'm not sure. I was invis when I was there. There are two ways to do it.

If you have your Sky keys:
Hand the Thunder Spirit Princess the 10GP to spawn Gkzzallk, then invis up and head to the third island. Hand him the book and you're all set.

If you DON'T have your Sky keys:
I don't think Mage CoH works in Plane of Sky, but, all is not lost. Enlist the aid of a fellow necro who has their Sky keys and get them a coffin and an Essence Emerald. Port up to Sky and hand the Thunder Spirit Princess the 10GP. Now duel the other necro and let him kill you. Once you die, quickly get a port back to Sky. The other necro can invis up and run to the third island, then they simply summon your corpse and rez you with Convergence. Now, you can do your hand in and you're set.

3rd island is non-aggro. However, the bit about doing this without your sky keys; most likely, if you're at this point in the quest, you'll have at least your keys up to 3rd island.

If you want your future epics or even just to be able to say "LOOK AT MY DUCKSTICK!!" you will want to do your epic. No character 60+ should be without at least most of what they need for their epics and no 70 should be without their epic 1.0.
What level to start epic?

My necro just turned 50 and have been cleaning house in Dulak (ent/wall etc) for the last level or so. What level should I wait till I consider attempting my epic? Also it seems like for some mobs I will need several grps to assist.....

I know this will sound silly but I started my epic 1.0 for my necro when I was level 23. SOme of the quest components such as the Plane of Sky drops and such are not available to me until i hit 46 but hey, I got as far as the Manisi Herb from Chardok before I hit 45. Now at 51, I've acquired all but the battle royal of the golems and the the Spirok Feather since it did not drop our first time in Plane of Sky. Good Luck.

I finished my epic last week (Feb 8, 2005) and put together a scrapbook full of details that aren't generally found in this or other walk throughs. I hope you find it entertaining and/or useful.

I only hope necros on 1.0 don't wast their time reading anything but Drexxell's write up. Informative and very entertaining - nice read even if you're not after epic. Nice job, Drex!

/wildly applauds... this guide is not only interesting to read, but with pictures and all the info you could ever need is the best necro epic walkthrough ive seen ... ive currently just got the Journal of Dendico, and was lucky enough to be already given the slime blood of cazic thule. So i guess its sky for me now /sigh not looking forward to that one.

P.S. Dredico mentions a grocery list of page 2 of his journal, anyone actually fullfilled this for him? and if so does anything happen? I might try it for a laugh.

Moss
# Dec 10 2004 at 1:23 AM Rating: Decent
Once you hand the Flowing Black Robe in you get "rolling stone moss". Its not listed on Alla ,but is on LUCY............By the way Symbol of the Serpent is doable at 30 ,then thats where it stops and you wait til you grow up some more lol
(something) moss

I can't find the name of that moss, been looking. Someone asked about it earlier, I know that Sir Edwin's head is called "Head of Sir Edwin Motte" though. Trying to print this out in a better format, need the name of that moss if anyone knows please
Nec quest question

On the last part of the necro epic 1 quest..

Now, head to the Plane of Sky. You need to get Gkzzallk to spawn on the Third Isle. Do this by giving a Thunder Spirit Princess 10 gold pieces (you will get a message indicating he's spawned). Now go to and clear the third isle. Give the Tome of Instruction to Gkzzallk to receive 'Gkzzallk in a Bottle.' Take the Bottle back to Kazen. You will finally receive the Scythe of the Shadowed Soul...........Do you need to clear the 3rd island to turn in the Tome??
RE: Nec quest question
# Oct 02 2004 at 2:55 PM Rating: Decent
You do not have to clear isle 3 again to do final turn in.. Me myself I inviso'd and ran/feigned my way to mob and just turned in

Bone Golem
# May 14 2004 at 2:07 PM Rating: Decent
Heads up on the Bone Golem. He is immune to magic. Poison, disease, fire, cold, even our lifetap was resisted.

Augmented CoB had a tough time of it. I ran myself OOM healing him. Of course I blew alot of mana trying to get other spells to land on him too. Good thing is that you can med up between him and the next mob. The next 2 mobs are not immune to magic.

Be careful if you are going to solo that part of the quest.

Not completely magic resistant. Blood of Thule landed both times and I lifetapped him a couple times. Definitely soloable at 65.

whats MQ stand for? and what do you mean by MQ'ing drops?
RE: whats MQ stand for?
# Apr 30 2004 at 6:50 AM Rating: Decent
I believe it means "multiquest." It's when someone does a quest (or most of a quest) for some lazy person who won't do it themselves.

For example, the JBoots MQ consists of the MQer giving the ring & sword to Hasten, then the person getting the MQ hands him the gold. The boots are then handed to the person who did the final turn-in.
RE: whats MQ stand for?
# Aug 27 2004 at 7:57 PM Rating: Default
I would not be so quick to call a person lazy for doing an MQ. Many higher level quests can only be completed that way by non-guilded occasional players who do not devote their entire lives to this game.

Do not be so quick to call others lazy.

I CAN speak on this issue as I completed both my Paladins Fiery Defender (final epic) and my Clerics Water Sprinkler epic by having to form my own raids to go to zones friends would bail on me from. It took over 2 years to complete as some zones people just dont like to go to, and other quests people just dont care to help complete.

If someone were to ask me for an MQ I had for a hard to reach zone, there is no shame in it. And it does not mean they are lazy, perhaps desparate after spending 2 years on something, but not lazy.

RE: whats MQ stand for?
# Oct 30 2004 at 1:24 PM Rating: Default
Exactly..i couldnt agree more i am in an unraid-able guild which means I have to ask for weeks even months to get a raid size guild to help in my epic, its not easy being a casual player and its not easy asking people to go and kill some of these mini bosses for something that might not even drop the first second third even fourth kill...Necros have the hardest Epic in the game and i would gladly MQ before i try and get a raid to go to some of these unsoloable spots......

I beg to differ. Tried finding Quillmane or the Power of Fire recently?

Mages get way more screwed than Necro's for epic drops. I almost fainted when I saw how 'easy' Necro drops are. All you have to do is raid a few times...try camping Quillmane for weeks against a small army of druids who want to sell the MQ. They can track, I can't, I lose. A lot.

"Tried finding Quillmane or the Power of Fire recently?"

I know some people get really unlucky with those drops, but the Power of Fire took me one evening and Quillmane one evening and a couple of hours (another Mage in the guild got their cloak in an evening too). I've spent several evenings already killing the Grand Herbalist and out of about half a dozen kills only one herb dropped... which went to another Necro who's further along in their epic.

Equally, I've raided Fear several times for the Golems and CT and never seen those items drop. I suspect I'll have to start soloing Terror to get the drop.

IMHO some of the Necro drops are rarer than Mage drops, but almost all the drops in the Mage epic are rare. OTOH they don't have to clear Fear and don't have to fight any death-touching mobs (other than to get the keys to the 7th Isle in Sky).
RE: whats MQ stand for?
# Feb 13 2005 at 9:52 PM Rating: Decent
The necro epic drops are just as difficult as mage. It all depends on luck for the most part. I have killed Terror 11 times and have not gotten my blood yet, but I have gotten two pegasus feather cloaks. /shrug

Mages probably do have the hardest one, right alongside paladin (First created, and longest). The sad part is, theirs is the least rewarding beyond PoP as a spell.

"Mages probably do have the hardest one"

Not really. Some annoying rare drops from rare mobs, but it's all soloable at 65 if you have the keys to Sky.

"The sad part is, theirs is the least rewarding beyond PoP as a spell."

I disagree: the Mage epic is useful up to level 65, particularly if you do LDoNs. The PoP pets tank better in PoP zones and do more damage in Tier-2 zones and above (the epic pet is too low level for its procs to land on mobs over level 60), but on mobs below 60 it's a significant improvement in DPS over the PoP pets.

Even more so on greens, when farming Chardok faction in Frontier Mountains Fluffy was hitting 250-300dps on the Goblins:

'Goblin hits Fluffy for 12 points of damage'
'Goblin was burnt for 50 points of non-melee damage'
'Goblin bashes Fluffy for 3 points of damage'
'Goblin was burnt for 50 points of non-melee damage'
'Fluffy laughs, quads Goblin for 81 points per hit, procs twice for 143 per proc, and doesn't even bother to stun Goblin because watching him beat himself to death on a 50 point damage shield is much more fun'

And at level 55, when I got mine, it's still uber: shortly after getting the epic I set it on a low dark blue con in Dulak and he soloed the mob and came out with 95% health... versus about 30% health for the 51 earth pet on the same mobs if I nuked them once or twice.
