Requesting the Expedition: High Priest Diru Riwirn (Progression)

If this is your first time doing this Sewers zone, you can request this expedition as part of Gates of Discord Progression by speaking with High Priest Diru Riwirn (click for map image). Doing this will result in a flag at the end of the expedition.

You say, 'Hail, High Priest Diru Riwirn'

High Priest Diru tells you, 'Utandi, the map maker, should be in the sewers. I must apologize for him in advance. He is wonderful with his maps, but very timid. Good luck and I hope that we can stand together, defiant against the invaders.'

The direction to the entry to your instanced zone(s) have been marked on your compass.
Sewers of Nihilia, The Pool of Sludge is now available to you.

Requesting the Expedition: Gamesh (Non-Progression)

If you've already done progression or are otherwise not concerned about it, speak with Gamesh (click for map image) at /loc -385, -710, -120:

You say, 'Hail, Gamesh'

Gamesh says 'I don't know why you would want to, but if you want me to tell you the way to one of the different areas of the sewers let me know. I know how to get to the treatment [plant], [crematory], [pools] of sludge, or the [lair] of trapped ones.'

You say, 'I'd like to go to the pools of sludge'

Gamesh leans in closely to whisper, 'Okay, listen closely...'

The direction to the entry to your instanced zone(s) have been marked on your compass.
Sewers of Nihilia, Pools of Sludge is now available to you.

As you make your way through the zone, you'll see emotes (believed to just be flavor):

Muted skittering can be heard echoing off the wet, stone walls.

You step in something soggy, causing your feet to be encrusted with disgusting green slime.

The smell here is almost unbearable. Your vision is hampered by the thickness of the dank air in here.

Stone pipes creak as if they are about to fall to pieces as you walk underneath them. Some event has shaken the very foundation of this place.

Curdled water bubbles in this pool. The stench of decomposition turns your stomach. It wasn't always this way. It used to be well-maintained.

You almost slip on the slimy floor. As you look down you see rotting remnants of flesh and bone that have washed down from the city above.

Fetid water splashes into a pool, causing slimy ripples to appear.

Named Mobs

Named mobs that have a chance to spawn here:

Distraught Slimesnipper
Festering Sewer Gnat
Xthid the Undying

It's reported a named has a chance to spawn after every 20 mob kills. Note that the map above only reflects known spawn areas of these nameds. It's possible that they have other spawn locations.

Expedition

General mob population here tend to hit for a max ~700 (nameds hitting higher). Note that golems are unslowable.

Here, you'll first need to speak with Utandi, found in the room just northeast of the zone-in room. The player who requested the expedition has to be the one to talk to Utandi. If anyone else tries to do so, Utandi will brush them off:

Utandi tells you, 'Who are you? What do you need with me? Please leave me be, I cannot endure anymore punishment!'

You say, 'Hail, Utandi'

Utandi tells you, 'Wh, who are you?' Utandi's voice quivers with fear. 'I have nothing of value if you are planning to rob me. What's that? You will not harm me? You seek treasures elsewhere? You think like I do. I myself am in search of treasures. There is only one [problem] though.'

You say, 'What problem?'

Utandi tells you, 'Well I was attacked by some of the creatures here in the sewer and I lost my map. If you could [find it], I have some valuable knowledge I could pass along to you.'

You say, 'I'll help you find it'

Utandi tells you, 'You will help? That is good news indeed! Search here in the sewers for my map. It was made of stone and unfortunately it was shattered into four pieces when I got attacked. If you find the four pieces, hand them to me.'

This triggers the spawn of "Slime Cube" in the southwestern-most room of the zone. As you approach the room, you see:

As you enter this room you see a rather large gelatinous cube slither up through a grate in an unpleasant looking pool of water. The grime has come alive.

The Slime Cube hits for a max ~1,100 and doesn't appear to have any special abilities. Upon its death, it splits into 6x "Cube Fragments" (non-KOS, untargetable) that move to different locations within the zone.

Slime Cube slips towards you with astounding speed, bones and other remnants of past victims jiggling inside.

Slime Cube has been slain by _____!
Slime Cube's corpse splatters into pieces as you deal the final blow.

Seek out and kill the Cube Fragments (immune to stun/mez; hit for a max ~600) until you've collected four map pieces, and then turn in the four map pieces to Utandi.

Cube Fragment has been slain by _____!
Cube Fragment's corpse quietly congeals into a pool of odorous gel.

Upon handing in the four map pieces:

Utandi says 'You are most kind. I think I can salvage these pieces and assemble my map again. As a reward to you, I will now explain how to gain access to the temples through our once sacred mountain passes. First seek the High Priest and tell him of your duty here. He will recommend you to the only one that can help.' Utandi proceeds to explain to you and your party how to access the mountain zones.'

If doing the progression version of this expedition, you also see:

You have gained a character flag! The passage through the mountains is now clear in your mind.

Double invis does not work like the previous 3 sewer tasks. Undead and slimes see through both. Makes it a lot more tedious but you can still skip a bunch of mobs.
