Call of the Forsaken Info & Guides: Overview | Progression & Task List | Raiding | Visible Armor

This solo task is the fourth in a series of six. It begins with Dedire Harath (click for map image) on the zone-in level of the Tower of Rot.

Pre-Requisites:
- Completed "The Scions of the Tower"
- Completed "The Tower's Victims"
- Completed "Fenn's Job"

Say "ask" to request the task.

Summary & Requesting the Task

- Hail Brendaleen.
- Location update just inside the first basement floor (one floor below zone-in).
- Kill 5x "a rockbreaker" and/or "an excavator".
- Two floors below the zone-in level, DPS "a tower scion" mobs to under 10% health and hail them (you'll need to finish them off after they re-aggro).
- In the southwestern corner of the same floor, say "hidden booty" to spawn Jrint the Scout. Just as you enter the southwest room he will spawn on the right just inside the entrance.
- Hail Jrint the Scout to receive "Tower Scout's Grappling Hook".
- At three separate locations on this floor:
--- Use the grappling hook to fling yourself up to a ledge, and wait.
--- A short time after doing this, 1x "a Scion bonemage" and 1x "a Scion deathcrafter" spawn on the ground below you.
--- You'll have a short time to engage them before they run off (mobs are NOT social with each other, so you'll need to manually aggro both mobs).
--- You can respawn these mobs if you miss one or both of them.
- Location update in the far western room of the bottom floor to spawn non-KOS Narius.
- Say "gifts" to spawn 2x "a deadskin bodyguard" (aggro-linked).
- Kill the bodyguards.
- Hail Deidre to complete.

You say, 'Hail, Deidre Harath'

Deidre Harath frowns. 'I must know more, _____. The Scions scour the floors for supplies and harry us at all corners, but what is their [aim]?

You say, 'What do you know of their aim?'

Deidre Harath says 'The Scions gather in the floors below, and the sounds of their picks echo up the stairways. They delve deeper. They must be searching for [something] in the depths.'

You say, 'Something in the depths?'

Deidre Harath says 'I almost do not wish to know what might lurk at the heart of this dreadful tower, but if Narius seeks it, no good can be found. If we have any hope at stopping him, we must know his [plans].'

You say, 'What plans?'

Deidre Harath says 'I tasked Brendaleen Thundershield with discovering Narius' intentions, but she's late with her report. Will you [ask] her why I'm still trying to sketch an attack route in the dark? When I ask for a candle, bring me a torch!'

You say, 'I'll ask her'

Deidre Harath smiles. 'That's what I like to hear. You're one of the more pleasant surprises I've met with in this tower.

You have been assigned the task 'Narius' Plan'.

Deidre Harath has asked you to find out what Narius is planning.

Map

Note: Jrint the Scout's spawn location was moved in a June 2014 patch. He is now found in the southwestern room of Floor B2 (you may need to refresh this page to see the updated map).

Speak with Brendaleen Thundershield 0/1 (Tower of Rot)

Task Window Says: Brendaleen Thundershield has been tasked with discovering Narius' plans, but thus far she been unsuccessful. Find out why.

You say, 'Hail, Brendaleen Thundershield'

Brendaleen Thundershield says 'Damn it, _____! I'm a treasure hunter, not a spy! You ask me to snatch the chalice from the skeletal hand of a long-dead king, and I'm your woman! But if you want secrets, that's Jrint's business. I sent him to the lower levels days ago -- or what I think was days ago; I can't really tell time in this place. Perhaps the undead miners below ripped him apart before he could move deeper and spy on the Scions. If you want answers for Deidre, find Jrint. He was wearing a black cloak the last time I saw him. Oh, and he answers to the password 'hidden booty.''

Find the first floor of the basement and begin your search for the spy 0/1 (Tower of Rot)

Task Window Says: Brendaleen sent Jrint to the lower levels. Descend to the first floor of the basement and see what you can find.

This updates on Floor B1 (one floor below the zone-in level) at about -10, -60, -196 (just outside the ramps).

Kill the undead miners to find any clues about the spy 0/5 (Tower of Rot)

Task Window Says: Jrint might have been stymied by the undead miners. Kill them and see if you can find any clues of Jrint's whereabouts.

Kill undead mobs in this same area until you see an emote about footsteps leading to the floor below. Upon the 5th kill, you see:

You hear a scuffling of feet heading down the stairs to the lower level. Did you just miss the spy? Perhaps there are Scions below who know of Jrint's fate.

Beat down the scions in the second floor of the basement and interrogate them 0/3 (Tower of Rot)

Task Window Says: You heard someone trying to stealthily make their way to the second level of the basement. Perhaps the Scions there have heard strange noises and can point to Jrint's location. Soften up the Scions and then interrogate them.

On Floor B2 (two floors below the zone-in level), DPS "scion" mobs to 10% health, and then hail them. The scion will give you a directional emote indicating where to find an NPC named Jrint. (The scion then goes non-aggro and cannot be hailed again.)

a tower scion says 'Don't hurt me! I... I heard some shuffling and rustling in a corner around here... it must have been to the northwest, about 250 paces away...'

Say the password in the spy's hiding spot in the second floor of the basement 0/1 (Tower of Rot)

Task Window Says: You think you have a good idea of Jrint's location on the second level of the basement. Go there and speak the password Brendaleen gave you.

Note: Jrint the Scout's spawn location was moved in a June 2014 patch. He is now found in the southwestern room of Floor B2 (you may need to refresh this page to see the updated map above).

Jrint the Scout spawns in the southwestern room on the floor. Say "hidden booty" at this location to make him appear (you have to be at this step for this to work).

You say, 'Hidden booty'

Jrint the Scout appears out of the shadows, muttering as loudly as he dares. 'Quiet! Are you trying to blow my cover?! And I told Brendaleen not to call me that! She's already spread that name among the ladies in the camp, and apparently, she's bragging to every adventurer from here to Qeynos. I wish to be known for my stealthiness, not my backside! So, what is it you want?

You say, 'Hidden booty!'

Jrint the Scout says 'Shut up!'

Speak with Jrint the Scout 0/1 (Tower of Rot)

Task Window Says: Jrint has come out of hiding. Speak with him.

You say, 'Hail, Jrint the Scout'

Jrint the Scout says 'Yes, let's talk business. I've been trying to listen to the Scion bonemages and deathcrafters as they discuss Narius' plans, but they have ways of seeing through my stealthy tricks. I haven't been able to hear their conversations. I was thinking I might use this grappling hook to watch them from the ledges above... but now that you're here, you might put it to better use. See if you can hide on the ledges and hear what the Scions say before beating them senseless and looking for clues on their corpses. You seem to have Brendaleen's confidence, so I trust you. Besides, I think my backside looks better living than undead.'

You receive "Tower Scout's Grappling Hook".

Get onto the ledges overlooking the second floor basement and wait for Scions 0/1 (Tower of Rot)

Listen to the bonemages and deathcrafters, kill them, and look for clues 0/1 (Tower of Rot)

Listen to the bonemages and deathcrafters, kill them, and look for clues 0/1 (Tower of Rot)

Listen to the bonemages and deathcrafters, kill them, and look for clues 0/1 (Tower of Rot)

Listen to the bonemages and deathcrafters, kill them, and look for clues 0/1 (Tower of Rot)

Listen to the bonemages and deathcrafters, kill them, and look for clues 0/1 (Tower of Rot)

Listen to the bonemages and deathcrafters, kill them, and look for clues 0/1 (Tower of Rot)

Task Window Says: Jrint wants you to spy on the bonemages and deathcrafters. Use the Tower Scout's Grappling Hook near certain ledges on the second basement level to find a hiding spot. Listen for the conversations, and then kill the bonemages and deathcrafters. Take any clues from their bodies you can find.

This series of steps updated on the platforms that overlook Floor B2. You'll need to use the Tower Scout's Grappling Hook at three locations:

* 35, 120, -401
* 20, -105, -402
* -85, -40, -400

At each of these locations, right-click the Tower Scout's Grappling Hook to fling yourself up to a ledge. Once on a ledge, wait there until two mobs spawn below: "a scion bonemage" and "a scion deathcrafter". You'll see some emotes from them, and then they'll walk away and despawn. You need to aggro them before they despawn, kill them, and loot their corpses (repeat x3 for six loots total in three different locations).

Note that the mobs /con KOS, but don't attack until provoked, and they are NOT social with each other. Bonemages are necromancers and deathcrafters are enchanters (will cast, among other things, a disease-counter AE slow).

These are the conversations you'll overhear:

a Scion bonemage says 'The preparations have been made.'
a Scion deathcrafter says 'The altars have been raised.'
a Scion bonemage says 'I will ready the bodies.'

a Scion bonemage says 'The others have almost breached the wall.'
a Scion deathcrafter says 'Narius will want to be the first inside.'
a Scion bonemage says 'He will control the power of rot!'

a Scion bonemage says 'We will close the breach after Narius?'
a Scion deathcrafter says 'None shall pass once he is inside.'
a Scion bonemage says 'Then the spells are almost prepared?'
a Scion deathcrafter says 'Yes, we cannot be stopped now. Let us hurry. Narius waits below.'

The items you'll loot:

* First Sealing Spell Fragment
* Encoded Scion Plans - First Scrap
* Second Sealing Spell Fragment
* Encoded Scion Plans - Second Scrap
* Third Sealing Spell Fragment
* Encoded Scion Plans - Third Scrap

Find Narius on the third floor of the basement and confront him 0/1 (Tower of Rot)

Deal with the consequences of confronting Narius 0/2 (Tower of Rot)

Task Window Says: Narius is waiting on the third floor of the basement for his followers to breach a hidden room. Confront him and deal with the consequences.

Head to the very basement to about -45, 120, -496 (far western room). This spawns Narius. Speak with him and be prepared to two aggro-linked hostile mobs.

You say, 'Hail, Narius'

Narius says 'My child, have you come to repent of your errors? There are many fools in this tower who believe it is inevitable to prostrate ourselves before the power of death. It creeps like a tide up the shore. Kyle Bayle drowned beneath it, as did my family, my friend... and so shall Deidre. Will you do the same? Will you not take my [hand] and be saved from the rising waters?'

You say, 'Your hand?'

Narius holds out a withered hand for but a moment. He clenches and withdraws it. 'Then there is no salvation for you. When I reach the source of rot, there will come a day of reckoning. The honorable dead shall live; the dishonorable living shall die. I once studied the healing arts and wished to grant the touch of life to all. But now I know very few deserve such [gifts].

You say, 'What gifts?'

Narius says 'You are not worthy of the gift of life. You are lower than my thralls -- creatures fit only to live as my servants. To you I grant only death.'

2x "a deadskin bodyguard" spawn in front of him and aggro. These are enchanter mobs; hit for a max ~17,500; are immune to root/snare and root; and proc "Rotting Fist". Kill them to update these steps.

Rotting Fist: Single Target, Disease (-975)
1: Decrease HP when cast by 30769
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 7692 per tick
3: Increase Disease Counter by 30

a deadskin bodyguard has been slain by _____!

Speak with Deidre Harath 0/1 (Tower of Rot)

Task Window Says: Tell Deidre what you discovered.

You say, 'Hail, Deidre Harath'

Deidre Harath says '_____, you certainly proved yourself more competent than Brendaleen! So, Narius seeks the source of rot? If what you say is true and he plans to seal himself inside the bowels of the tower, I don't see how we can stop him! We must move as swiftly as possible before he breaches the wall and constructs his defenses!'

You have discovered that Narius is trying to enter the lowest chamber of the tower's basement and take control of what he calls the 'source of rot.'

The northwest corner as posted did not work for spawning him but the southwest corner did. Just as you enter the southwest room he will spawn on the right just inside the entrance.

You can do all this invisd, just watch out for the see-all-invis muck in the other corner. The exact location for Jrint to spawn is -66, 143, -396. This room is right next to a great camp spot to pharm the scions. Three of them have spawn locations in the nearby area. Jrint vanishes after 4 minutes or so, then the next player can say the password and then hail him after he spawns.

Any suggestions on how to pull this room? It's hard as heck to keep clear and I haven't found a good spot to place the group. Anyone know a good spot to place the group? Thanks!

Clerics: Galvos Retort II aggroes all mobs in a wider AE, I assume even floor wide - very nasty, like the Aura from the Cleric does. Be aware of that.

Clicking grapple has a cast time and breaks invis. It's easier to ignore the grapple and use Lev to just climb up to the spawn spot on the ledge; this spawns the bonemage and deathcaster. In fact you can just sit someone up there (like a caster) and mobs will keep spawning. This way you can get all the mobs you need quickly. The person on the ledge will need to be at the appropriate point in the quest, and should be the last one to loot. Once all six drops are looted, that person will no longer spawn mobs.

Yes no idea who thought it would drop more then one piece but the scions you spawn do not drop more then one. You also do not get the update on get on the ledges until you have looted al six pieces.

Rathe server, only dropping the one item.

Though spawning Narius (which BTW does not update until after his guards are dead) and killing his bodyguards we only had to do once for the whole group.
