Styria Fearnon walks around the top of the hill next to the dock on the island with the Sisters of Erollisi.

You say, 'Hail, Styria Fearnon'

Styria Fearnon says 'Welcome to my island. I always welcome visitors, but I would prefer that your stay not last too long. My warriors are sometimes tempted by others. That is why they all wear purity belts. I should warn you, also, to be on the lookout for the Pirates of Gunthak.'

You say, 'Who are the Pirates of Gunthak?'

Styria Fearnon says 'The Pirates of Gunthak have been stranded on a nearby island. Their ship was sunk by some unknown water beast. They no attempt to take over this island and commandeer the first ship they encounter. I am looking for brave adventurers to hunt the rogues. Do you wish to hunt the pirates or are you waiting for the next ship?'

You say, 'I wish to hunt the pirates'

Styria Fearnon says 'Go and seek them out. They are on a nearby island. You will have to swim if you have no boat. Each pirate wears the pirate earring of the Pirates of Gunthak. I shall reward you for each earring you return to me. They have also stolen the Bracers of Erollisi from us. Their leader may have the pair. Return it to me and I shall be very appreciative.'

Capt. Surestout is on the Isle of the Seafoam Cyclops, two islands to the west.

Give the Bracers of Erollisi to Styria Fearnon.

Styria Fearnon says 'Oh!! Thank you!! We are so grateful to you. I offer you this as reward. It is one of the dwarven smith's finest works.'

Or is the bracer you turn in worth more than the random weapon that you get back?

I had to say

/say I wish to hunt the pirates

in order to get the response "stranded on a nearby island" ... "I will hunt" did not progress the step.

I got an axe for the bracers...
# Apr 21 2002 at 8:45 AM Rating: Decent
It was around 6 damage and a 38 second delay 1HS. No magic, nothing like lore or no-drop. Just a plain old axe "Made by our finest dwarven smithies." I sold it for around 2.5 plat to a vendor.

The Captain and most of the pirates can backstab so keep them directly in front of ya.

lemme tell you THIS... faction is PRICELESS. When you get to be level 45, you can kill the captain and drix in like 3 hits... and by then you don't give a crap about the bracer's stats. they're no big deal at all... bind yourself there, and travel to Styria (btw, if charm doesn't work, sneak/hide DOES work), turn the bracer in and you have sooo many less irritating mobs to kill just to raise your faction. If you want a good bracer, you can quest for the hero bracer or bracer of scavenging... Whatever item you happen to get in return? yeah, probably not worth the stupid bracer you got in the first place... but the faction IS... gate back, do it as many times as you want. The bracer dropped for me 8 times last night, I think I killed him maybe 11, just for something to do when I wasn't killing Grimrot. I had to let it keep rotting, cause the damn thing was lore. VERY easy to get, faction is not.

Hilt of Noblemen is one of four parts needed in the Ghoulbane Paladin quest. Others are from crazed goblins in BB and Highkeep and crazed ghouls in unrest.

I wold turn this bracer in for the faction so I can start my epic. Telin Darkforest won't talk to me and I am amiable to him. Go figure, now I gotta either do this or kill a billion orcs in CB. Ohh well, i guess that's why they call it the epic quest.

Granted, there is no excitement, no exhilaration, and no adrenalin rush to stuffing a bunch of muffins down a hungry dwarf's gullet, but... Why not?

My low level Ashen Order monk (FV server) started planning early for eventually traveling to Greater Faydark. It was so ridiculously simple for me to go from Apprehensive to Amiable with muffins. It just cost me about five stacks of muffins and a whole lot less time than pummeling tons of CB orcs.

IMHO, IF working on faction -- and NOT experience -- were your main objective, having to compete with several dozens of other players for CB Orc kills, CB Belts, and CB Pads would be much less efficient.

Styria cons red to a 51 so i'm not quite sure if she's charmable.
Hmmm
# May 21 2001 at 10:58 AM Rating: Default
The bracers drop off the little Halfling captain on seafury island. I get them quite often because I kill the captain in order to mana drain the spirit that spawns afterward. I usually just give these bracers away to a newbie. I'm on the island to kill seafuries.

I am wondering if I can use this quest to increase my Tunare faction, which I recently destroyed on a PoG raid (where I got a resplendent robe, so it was worth it). I believe I will try charming Styria Fearnon and doing the quest. I can't see another simple way to recover my Tunare faction.
RE: Hmmm
# Jul 22 2001 at 3:33 AM Rating: Default
If the spirit that you mana drain is a wolf with name a greater spirit, I wouldn't advise helping a shaman with his epic (and I hope you aren't a shammy). That spirit is the beginning of the shaman epic.
RE: Hmmm
# Jan 29 2002 at 5:56 AM Rating: Decent
The spirit has no faction hit, which is a good thing since I killed dozens of them in my teens levels hunting pegleg and found out later they were part of my epic when I played my shammie, was no harm done though was able to do my epic without probs since there weren't faction hits.
RE: Hmmm
# Jul 08 2002 at 4:26 AM Rating: Decent
it is a faction hit against the shaman only. you can mess up only once before you have to do the starting of the shaman epic to get your truespirit faction back

You're going to Charm her to make her LIKE you? How does that work? I can see using some spell like Alliance, but Charm makes an NPC your pet for a few minutes then they attack you if they haven't died yet. What is charming her going to do? Will giving a charmed NPC (thus giving your pet) a quest item still work, or will it just hold it like any other pet would?

Elemarian of Prexus (I have one of these too, they are Lore now, I'm not sure how long ago that happened) I'm not turning mine in, it's only worth about 35 or 40pp now, at least on Prexus (where everything is dirt cheap) but I'm still not wasting a good item like that.

RE: Hmmm
# Aug 26 2001 at 11:21 AM Rating: Default
Yes, you can give items to your charmed pet, and complete quests this way.

What is "a random item"? Oh, I will sure trade 50-100 bracers, if I can get a random item like Ragebringer, Trak tooth, Bloodpoint... or maybe just a few pieces of Assassin/Mrylokar armor...
RE: Hmmm
# Feb 04 2009 at 12:54 PM Rating: Decent
And you can have someone else charm a mob and give things to it and complete a quest. Did that recently with Loloal Storm something or other in FV. May end up trying that with the pained unicorn since it doesn't like me and I'm tired of turning in muffins. EQ really needs to rethink faction. I don't mind a little work to fix my accidents but turning in over a 1000 muffins is ridiculous. I could see maybe that is one option, then offer other quests that give a much greater faction boost that take a little time to figure out and do. Was hoping maybe this was one. But few quest mention how big a boost you get from faction. I'd rather do 1000 muffin turn in's than 1000 of this quest.

Almost ready to give up on epic.

Capt Surestout and his band of pirates are located the second island west of Sister Isle. It's the one with all the Seafury Cyclopses running about. In the southwest corner of the island, on the beach, is a collection of huts. Outside one of those huts is a female dark elf named Dixl Drool. The hut she is standing near contains Capt Surestout the halfling.

Dixl is close enough to the hut that she and the Capt can both be hit with a single Harmony. You should also either Harmony or Lull Toko Binlittle and his pet as they will aggro when Dixl is pulled (not sure if they will when the Capt is pulled but I wouldn't recommend trying it). The Buccaneer is far enough away to not cause any problems. My partner and I worked from the small peninsula just west of Dixl and we had no trouble alternating between Dixl and the Capt. Also, the cyclopses do not get close enough to aggro on anyone on that little area.

Turn in a 50pp item for faction and some random POS. Not bloody likely.
