At the end of the previous quest, Master Kyvix told you that Harbinger Glosk needed a new revenant. (/loc of Harbinger Glosk?)

    You say, 'Hail, Harbinger Glosk'

Harbinger Glosk halts his chanting. 'You dare to interrupt me? You had best have a good reason. I care not for small talk.'

You say, 'I am the new revenant.'

Harbinger Glosk ceases his chanting and gazes into your mind. 'Yes. You are. You shall do as I command. Take this. It is incomplete and must be ready for the emperor within the half season. You must find the [four missing gems]. When you have them, you will have to quest for the [Grand Forge of Dalnir]. Within its fire, all shall combine. Return the sceptre to me with your revenant skullcap. Go.'

You receive an Unfinished Sceptre (identifies as "Unfinished Sceptre of Vekin").

You say, 'What four missing gems?'

Harbinger Glosk says 'The missing sceptre gems are: an Eye of Rokgus, a Gem of Yet to Come, a Heart of Torsis and the Crown Jewel of Ganak.'

You say, 'What Eye of Rokgus?'
You say, 'What Gem of Yet to Come?'
You say, 'What Heart of Torsis?'
You say, 'What Crown Jewel of Ganak?'
You say, 'What Grand Forge of Dalnir?'

Harbinger Glosk scratches his chin. 'I know little of it other than that it once belonged to the ancient Haggle Baron, Dalnir. From what I have read, its fires require no skill, but will melt any common forge hammer used. Dalnir was said to have called upon the ancients for a hammer which could tolerate the magickal flames.'

The Eye of RokGus is dropped by Chief RokGus in the Frontier Mountains. The Gem of Yet to Come is dropped by a sarnak gem oracle in the Lake of Ill Omen. The Heart of Torsis is really a Shiny Emerald (identifies as "Heart of Torsis"), dropped by various mobs in the Emerald Jungle and City of Mist. The Crown Jewel of Ganak is dropped by Red Eye Jack in Firiona Vie. The forge is the Grand Forge of Dalnir (a.k.a. the "Always Works" forge) in the Crypt of Dalnir at -230, 30 on the bottom floor.

The "hammer which could tolerate the magickal flames" is the Forge Hammer of Dalnir, dropped by an undead blacksmith.

Combine the unfinished sceptre, the four gems, and the hammer in the Always Works forge to craft the Sceptre of Emperor Vekin (no-fail combine, identifies as "Sceptre of Frontier Spur").

Return the Sceptre of Emperor Vekin with your Revenant Skullcap to Harbinger Glosk.

Harbinger Glosk says 'I await both the sceptre and your revenant skullcap.'

Harbinger Glosk presents to you a glowing skullcap. 'This is the treasured cap of the sorcerers of this tower. Let all gaze upon you in awe. You are what others aspire to be. I look forward to reading of your adventures, Sorceror ______.'

Your faction standing with Brood Of Kotiz got better.
Your faction standing with Legion of Cabilis got better.
    You gain experience!!
You receive 2 platinum from Harbinger Glosk.

    You receive your Sorcerer Skullcap.

This quest worked at amiable faction with Harbinger Glosk. Will it work at a lower faction standing?

Easy at lvl 37 and got a few yellow xp as well. Died once in the undead blacksmith part. I love the way EQ1 can still scare me.
For the combine I used Gather Shadows and ran all the way through the gray and green mobs to the forge, did the combine, found a safe spot and gated out. Yay!

    Finding those mobs...
    # Oct 06 2004 at 4:38 PM Rating: Excellent
    Hi everyone,

    If you have trouble finding

*The Charbone: just look near: Pos 3706, and Pos 3876.
If you can't see a charbone here and you see a spurbone, kill it because the spurbones are the PH's.

*THe gem Oricle: Go to Overthere and don't bother with the stupid sarnak fort in LOIO. He should just be in one of the sarnak ruins (that's where I found him), if not just kill stuff there until he pops. Easy.

*Cheif Rokgus: Just look in the Cheif rokgus page and look at the comments, they are correct.

*Red Eye Jack: He spawns exactly where the Rogue Swashbuckler spawns (although you don't need the rogue anymore), Feign death near the hill and just send the pet after whatever walks by, he spawned near 4-5 AM game time, dunno if this matters...

    Cheers.

I believe that the Greater Charbone you are looking for will be carrying a Fine Steel Ulak & a Trooper shield like the Captain of the Guard in City of Mist.
My take on this, so far
    # Sep 12 2004 at 9:57 AM Rating: Decent
I got the gem from the Greater Charbone in EJ without too much undue difficulty. I hung out at the bottom of the great stairs, and kept casting "detect undead". This points you at, and targets, the nearest undead creature. Then I'd run over and kill it. I figure that the Greater Spurbones are PHs, so I made sure to kinda move around a little to kill as many as possible. My gem dropped from the first Greater Charbone I saw. Took about 20 minutes.

In Firiona Vie, I got Red-Eye after about an hour. As per advice here, I camped on a muddy hill West of the giant settlement which is on the East side of the zone, close to SoNH. I killed everything, and got the Halfling Swashbuckler guy, the Ancient jarsinth, and Red-eye Jack. The Halfling and Red-Eye had a HUGE aggro radius. The Ancient Jarsinth hit me from behind, I don't know about his.

My friends and I have been taking alts into the LoIO fort for the Gem Oracle. They Say he likes to spawn on the battlements on top of the front gate. My friend and I camped it, clearing mobs, and the gem Oracle popped after about 20 minutes. I think we got lucky. I spent abuot 2 hours earlier in the day clearing inside the fort.

I got RokGus after checking the caves a few times. over 2 days. No real trouble. Beware the Goblin Traitor, he hurts your Chardok Di-Zok faction, if you care. If you aggro him, ST him, kill your pet, and Feign.

The succor point in FM is right by the LoIO zoneline, and that ZI is right at the backdoor of the Sarnak fort, so if you two-box a tracker in LoIO for the Gem Oracle, you'll be able to get to the fort with your necro in about 5 minutes tops, depending on your zone times.

I took a few hous of killing the Undead Blacksmith's PH in Dalnir to get the hammer. Remember, get the hammer *before* you go through the one-way door! /selfbonk

    shrink
    # Sep 10 2004 at 7:59 AM Rating: Decent
Figured I would post this here since I didn't see it anywhere. Once you aquire all your items and are ready to go to Dalnir to get last drop and use the forge to combine the jewels. Word of advice if you are any taller than a halfling then take a form of shrink with you. It was impossible for me to duck through the one way door without shrink. I made a trip back to bank to get shrink device wasn't paying attention and got gauze press. So made second trip back to get the correct item (the shrink device) went back to dalnir got to forge and realized man i didn't do the first part of quest to get the sceptre the gems are combined to from quest npc. So then went back to cabilis again to get the sceptre from npc and cleared my way for the 4th time to the forge and got the combine done. So was overall irratating that I kept forgeting stuff. Just be sure to take the sceptre from npc with you and a form of shrink to get through door so you dont run into any problems like this lol.

Where in blazes is this guy found ? It says LoIO , but I have cleared the fort hundereds of times . I have kept the back door cleared . Nothing . Does anyone have some RECENT info on this ?
    RE: Sarnak Gem Oracle
    # Aug 08 2004 at 1:55 PM Rating: Decent
I also cleared the inside of the fort tons of times. Finally I tried clearing the outside and the 3 towers in the front, and also the two towers in the back (one by the back door and one by the bridge). One finally spawned outside sorta near the front gate near the ramps to the towers. Then another one spawned right after I killed that one.

Sarnak Gem Oracle is a very rare spawn in the sarnak fort, but he does indeed spawn as of 07/25/04..

First time I saw him was whenever I was hunting for the Candlestick pieces from the Revenant on the prior Skullcap quest. Foolishly I killed it and let the gem rot, not knowing it was needed for the following skullcap quest. He popped at the backdoor of the fort as the left-most sarnak.

I came back and spent 7 whole hours clearing the entire fort each cycle before another finally popped. This time it was in the courtyard in front of the Sarnak fort.
My guess is that he can spawn in any place a regular Sarnak Recruit can.
    RE: Sarnak Gem Oracle
    # Feb 01 2005 at 3:59 AM Rating: Decent
I dunno which fort you all are complaining about. I'm not saying you all are wrong, maybe you did camp it for as long as you say, but EVERY time ive gone to the sarnak fort after about 20 minutes clearing EVERY mob inside and out theres been 1, 2, and sometimes even 3 up at the same time. The revanents gave me way more problems. The revealer is more common than the revanent and the gem oracle is the most common (in my experiance).
    Where's the Chief?
    # Jan 20 2004 at 11:01 AM Rating: Decent
With all the recent changes, I have not been able to find Chief Rokgus. I've camped in Droga, Mines of Nurga, and even hunted outside in FM where other people have claimed he spawns.

If anyone can confirm the exact location (zone and coordinates), where the chief now spawns, I would appreciate it.

The Eye of Rokgus is the last component I need for this 7th skullcap quest.

    RE: Where's the Chief?
    # Mar 12 2004 at 10:46 PM Rating: Decent
The chief now spawns in the caves in the SW quadrant of FM. Enter the caves, take a right at the first intersection. The chief spawns in the first room to the left.

I can confirm this. The Greater Charbone that dropped the emerald was carring a shield & Ulak.

    # Mar 22 2003 at 9:14 PM Rating: Decent
I'm currently having trouble getting the Shinny Emerald from a Greater Charbone. I've have been hunting the area near the great staircase now for over 10 hours. In that time I've killed 4 Greater charbones, but they have dropped nothing at all. I was wondering if there was a little more info on this drop, as my guild trackers are no longer amuzed about spending long hours on a quest they feel is not worth their time.

the only thing that i can say is: be patient. i got the shiny emerald last night. just happened to drop off the skellie.

OK, thanks. I was worried they changed the drop.
    Update on Eye of RokGus
    # Mar 22 2003 at 6:55 PM Rating: Excellent
Warning: The mines of nurga has changed in the past, and may change again. This info is current as of 03/22/03.

Just to let folks know, the Eye of RokGus does drop from the burynai slaves in the Mines of Nurga. The iksar slaves and the burynai slaves both have the same spawn spots, and the iksar slaves seem to be more common. None of the slaves give any faction hits when killed, so feel free to slaughter your captured iksar bretheren to get the burynai to spawn. A lot of the burynai I killed had an Eye, including the ones that were lying down (fatigued slave, etc.), but only the ones that were burynai. The few that didn't have the Eye had niccolite or frontier ore instead (both no drop). The frontier ore is for a FV rogue quest. I've searched all over and have found no use for niccolite, but that's a discussion for a different forum.

Here's the bad part: All of the slaves of all types were light blue to me at level 45, and they resisted every spell I threw at it, no matter what type. The only way I could kill them was to let the pet solo them while I healed the pet every once in a while.

The other guy that's supposed to drop the Eye may be easier. I don't know cause I've never seen him. Anyway, I hope this helps all you questers out there.

    other confirmation
    # Dec 20 2002 at 7:42 PM Rating: Decent
yeah i confirmed the shiney emrald, in EJ from fob, facing away from fob go to the left and keep heading down tword ruins and the stairs i saw him wandering around there it was a GREATER CHARBONE also droped some no drop shield and ulak thingey might be for other quests.

and just about to work on the red eye jack and gunna get a mini guild raid for the eye of rukgus thing
    just a sorta summary
    # Dec 15 2002 at 4:59 PM Rating: Decent
ok i havent finsihed the quest but i got my 6th cap and i think i can sum it for everyone

in EJ you just hunt on the upper part where the green grass is there is some ruins where i think charbones are so you can just get likea ranger or a bard or adruid friend to help track stuff for ya

gem of yet to come prob the easiest of thease
just go to sarnak fort get your tracker friend with you and he might see a couple on they are i think a very common drop

the dalnir part i have no idea, we might just do a small guild raid maybe 1 group of 6 or 2 groups of 5 to get the forge and kill the undead smith

the eye of rukgus ive been told many things
its either/or droped off the chief or droped off the miners in nurga

then the red eye jack in FV, hes supposed to be bye the sunken ship (rare) or by the "muddy hill" sorta near the SoNH zone so basicly thats what i can think of

also gunna test if other zones that have the charbones drop the shinny emrald
    RE: just a sorta summary
    # Jan 27 2003 at 11:06 AM Rating: Decent
I just invised down to the Chief in Droga, whacked him and got the Sticker and Eye. Camping the blacksmith in Dalnir was a pain... took quite a few spawns for him to pop. The final combine I just did while invis, didn't even have to kill the mobs in the forge room.
    RE: just a sorta summary
    # Jan 02 2003 at 1:13 PM Rating: Decent
In EJ, it specifically drops from a "Greater charbone" (pasted from log). I got it last night, but woefully I was logged in as my warrior, and helping a druid friend get his epic piece from corrupted. Oh well.

anyone gotten the nurga gem recently?
    # Jul 03 2002 at 7:23 PM Rating: Decent

Well since Nurga appears to have changed, has anyone found the Eye of Rokgus lately? Wondering if I should look in Nurga at all or if the quest can't be completed atm...

The Eye dropped of the Chief in Droga today
    nurga is bugged
    # Jun 29 2002 at 4:02 PM Rating: Decent
Ok, i guess this isnt a bug, but nurga now has nothing but goblins in it. No slaves, burnai, or anything else needed for about 10 other quests. I have spent alot of time in there before and after the last patch and it is definatly changed. So, dont waste your time in nurga till after the next patch if you are there for questing
    Has anyone....
    # Jun 14 2002 at 10:00 PM Rating: Decent
....been through Nurga lately and found a Buryni? .... I haven't been able to find ANYTHING other than Gobbos in there since the pet patch went live.....

    any word on this?
    Red Eye
    # May 15 2002 at 10:11 AM Rating: Default
Red Eye seems to be a lot more common. Killed him twice last night in FV (at the muddy knoll both times, was killing anything and everything within view of it). First time took about 15 seconds, literally killed one mob and bang, second time took about an hour.
