At the end of the previous quest, Master Kyvix told you that Harbinger Glosk needed a new revenant. (/loc of Harbinger Glosk?)

    You say, 'Hail, Harbinger Glosk'

Harbinger Glosk halts his chanting. 'You dare to interrupt me? You had best have a good reason. I care not for small talk.'

You say, 'I am the new revenant.'

Harbinger Glosk ceases his chanting and gazes into your mind. 'Yes. You are. You shall do as I command. Take this. It is incomplete and must be ready for the emperor within the half season. You must find the [four missing gems]. When you have them, you will have to quest for the [Grand Forge of Dalnir]. Within its fire, all shall combine. Return the sceptre to me with your revenant skullcap. Go.'

You receive an Unfinished Sceptre (identifies as "Unfinished Sceptre of Vekin").

You say, 'What four missing gems?'

Harbinger Glosk says 'The missing sceptre gems are: an Eye of Rokgus, a Gem of Yet to Come, a Heart of Torsis and the Crown Jewel of Ganak.'

You say, 'What Eye of Rokgus?'
You say, 'What Gem of Yet to Come?'
You say, 'What Heart of Torsis?'
You say, 'What Crown Jewel of Ganak?'
You say, 'What Grand Forge of Dalnir?'

Harbinger Glosk scratches his chin. 'I know little of it other than that it once belonged to the ancient Haggle Baron, Dalnir. From what I have read, its fires require no skill, but will melt any common forge hammer used. Dalnir was said to have called upon the ancients for a hammer which could tolerate the magickal flames.'

The Eye of RokGus is dropped by Chief RokGus in the Frontier Mountains. The Gem of Yet to Come is dropped by a sarnak gem oracle in the Lake of Ill Omen. The Heart of Torsis is really a Shiny Emerald (identifies as "Heart of Torsis"), dropped by various mobs in the Emerald Jungle and City of Mist. The Crown Jewel of Ganak is dropped by Red Eye Jack in Firiona Vie. The forge is the Grand Forge of Dalnir (a.k.a. the "Always Works" forge) in the Crypt of Dalnir at -230, 30 on the bottom floor.

The "hammer which could tolerate the magickal flames" is the Forge Hammer of Dalnir, dropped by an undead blacksmith.

Combine the unfinished sceptre, the four gems, and the hammer in the Always Works forge to craft the Sceptre of Emperor Vekin (no-fail combine, identifies as "Sceptre of Frontier Spur").

Return the Sceptre of Emperor Vekin with your Revenant Skullcap to Harbinger Glosk.

Harbinger Glosk says 'I await both the sceptre and your revenant skullcap.'

Harbinger Glosk presents to you a glowing skullcap. 'This is the treasured cap of the sorcerers of this tower. Let all gaze upon you in awe. You are what others aspire to be. I look forward to reading of your adventures, Sorceror ______.'

Your faction standing with Brood Of Kotiz got better.
Your faction standing with Legion of Cabilis got better.
    You gain experience!!
You receive 2 platinum from Harbinger Glosk.

    You receive your Sorcerer Skullcap.

This quest worked at amiable faction with Harbinger Glosk. Will it work at a lower faction standing?

    # Apr 19 2002 at 12:00 PM Rating: Decent
Anyone know if they just updated the spawn frequency of Red Eye Jack or whether they've fixed the Hermit's quest??? Smaug and others have pretty much explored every possibility for his request in all of Norath /grrr and we haven't seen any results. It would be nice to have a descent return for all our hard work on this nutball quest instead of the hunk-a-junk we've received after completing the 7th...

Blighted skullcaps, the Velious quest hats, pretty much anything puts this thing to shame /deep sigh.

Hermit quest is broken. If you want it fixed wont you send an email to jaraiza@soe.sony.com, or your favorite sony executive and ask them why all the iksar quests were fixed except the necro and warrior one? Jose Araiza said this would be fixed 6 patches and 3 months ago, why does it now seem to be taking a backseat?

Well thank Cazic. I was very close to ditching my necro altogether, but this renews my interest. I assume there's some cool item (ala Greenmist) on the horizon for Iksar Necros, maybe a robe or something...

Finally found this guy today 03/27/2002 after having given up on him for many moons. I set myself and my pet down next to the giant fort, opposite from the Swamp zone. My partner, a 45 monk, pulled everything in sight (all but the giants). We killed Kwinn several times, and the Swashbuckler popped after 3 hours. The next demi-human pop was Red Eye Jack. He came strolling up over the hill toward us from the "muddy" area by Swamp zone. In all, I spent about 3 and a half hours campin him till he popped. Purely random, I'm certain.

Whether because of the recent GM events encouraging Legends Server, or simply because they've finally fixed the spawn, Red Eye Jack is (for now) no longer an ultra-rare spawn.

On the Saryrn Server he was killed 2 times yesterday, and 4 times today. I was lucky and camping Fironia Vie (again) today...so the 4th kill was my own.

He dropped the Jewel of Ganak, along with the standard Lore pirate sword. I immediately went to Dalnir's, camped the Undead Blacksmith for a long time, and eventually made the "Sceptre of Emperor Vekis" in the Always Works forge.

Turned it in with skullcap 6 ... abracadabra ... Sorcerer Skullcap. AC8, Dex1, Int5, Mana10, Magic 5. It's taken me about 10 months to finally finish this quest, so I intend to wear it until I'm old and grey. :) A thousand thanks to Smaugg, who recently encouraged me to keep trying and not lose hope.

While I was there, I also paid a visit to the Iksar hermit. I can confirm...they've changed the wording of his quest. While he used to say "With it shall be your Sorcerers Skullcap." He *now* says something to the effect of "With it shall you receive your Sorcerer's Skullcap."

So apparently his quest is just a shortcut to avoid countless hours of achieving 1st-7th.

Only point to figuring out his quest now is to see if there is a follow-up. Or to save young iksar necros time and hassle doing the other 7 quests.

    # Feb 22 2002 at 1:38 PM Rating: Decent
It's a possibility. Only thing that bothers me about that theory is that both 7th cap and Hermit's cap are called "Sorcerer Skullcap." Whereas the monk shackle quests all have different names. (ie. Rock + Stone = Copper)

Oh, and one more thing. Red Eye Jack hasn't been spawning on Saryrn server near the cliffs. Rahter he's been spawning near the muddy hill and giant fort. Killing the giants, wandering drolvargs, and nearby frogloks and leeches is how we've spawned him. Pirates do not appear to be placeholders, strangely enough.

Would like to see the Sorcerer Skullcap beefed up, or at least have confirmed follow-up quests leading to better caps. It's frustrating that we go to all this work for it, when we could just catch a Fear raid and get a Blighted Skullcap with better stats. Since most of us are 46+ by the time we can acquire the Sorcerer Skullcap anyway. <shrugs>

Willing to work on the Hermit's quest if we've got any leads.

Similar to how monks have to have a few shackles to get the next one.

    7th Skullcap is Sorcerer Skullcap
    # Feb 18 2002 at 4:00 PM Rating: Good
After much time and frustration....the Sorcerer Skullcap...7th skullcap in the Iksar Necromancer quest line has been completed again. The most frustrtating thing about the quests was the lack of knowledge that I was on the right track. So here is the information that most everyone here is looking for. The mobs, their drops, and their locations. (all locs are from EQAtlas maps with the exception of Red Eye Jack. His loc is from atop his dead body):

Crown Jewel of Ganak drops off of Red Eye Jack in Firiona Vie. Wanderer. And I think I actually found his spawn point(one of them if he is random). After sending my pet to attack a drolvarg I took a quick look around then sat down to med. Within 2 seconds Red Eye stabbed me in the back. I don't think he wandered up, I think I was sitting on his spawn point. Approximately pos 1875 neg 1960. He has been reported by others as being all the way over by the FV outpost and up by one of the Swamp of No Hope zone areas. I can't confirm those, but on the word of the noble Vah Shir warrior Stath, from New Elements of Power, I went just south of the giant camp and started killing everything I could. I have hunted Red Eye for days down south and over by the sunken boat. But within 15 minutes I got him in this area. Stath said that he and a hunting partner saw Red Eye twice within a couple of hours up in this area. Killed him both times. Still can't confirm placeholders but I know they are not the giants in the camp. Mobs I killed before I saw Red Eye: Drolvarg, frogs, drachnids and leaches in all variations, a pilgrim or two, and also a Diseased Forest Giant (pos 1000, pos 2200, wanderer) before heading over to the area where Red Eye spawned. None of the giants in the camp had been touched. I saw Kwinn the Outlander but didn't kill him.

That seemed to be the one gem that everyone was looking for. But here are the locs for the others since all I could find were vague locations on other posts. These aren't all spawn points. Just locs of where I ran into them.

Eye of Rokgus: Burnyai in Mines of Nurga. Only spawn in the room behind and to the right of the spleeping ogre. May be any type of slave (iksar, gnome, gobline etc). But only the Burnyai drops it and not all the time. Loc is pos 1100 pos 210 (spawn point).

Gem of Yet to Come: Sanrak Gem Oracle in Lake of Ill Omen Sarnak fort. Wanderer. Usually see him near front door of the fort. Loc neg 2500 pos 3500. Reported to also be found in Overthere.

Heart of Torsis: Charbone Skeleton in Emerald Jungle. Wanderer. pos 2500 pos 4000 right near the zone wall. I did find several skeletons up and down the west wall though. But the one that dropped it for me was at that loc.

I did most of these mobs between level 40 and 46. They are way easy at that level. Red Eye should have run at the sight of me. Problem is staying alive while hunting them if you try to do this lower than 44 and solo. Hold off until 44 and then hunt with confidence and still get xp without too much threat of dying.

There you have it. After finally getting all the gems...the trip into Dalnir was a breeze. I cleared the statue room myself for the forge hammer of dalnir...and had a little help clearing the forge room. You can invis all the way there. There are two static sarnak in the forge room and one wanderer that comes in. The skeleton is a fourth mob but is an indifferent con.

Good luck on your final skullcap. The hermit does talk to me (I'm amiable) and give me a hilt of some kind that requires four more items to be combined in it.../sigh. But he says his reward is a sorcerer's skullcap. I thought that is what I just got. I'm going to log onto your server Smaaug and hope you're not retired.

    Red eyed jack and halfling
    # Feb 18 2002 at 9:00 AM Rating: Decent
Got the crown jewel of ganak from red eyed jack today while waiting for that darned halfling to appear. He was in FV at the bottom of the valley from swamp of no hope about level with the giant camp. Killed him and he re-spawned almost immediately further out.

Killed the outlander in between in the vain hope of getting the halfling to pop. Not sure if this was connected.

Someone told me the halfling popped in the same place yesterday - although I was stuck in Nexus waiting for the portal and someone else got the loot - a druid wanted the stein bizarrely.

Anyone seen Red Eye Jack recently? It's almost like he's disappeared. We've been camping out in FV for about a month staright, killing pilgrims, pirates, drixies, and drolvargs with no luck. If anyone on any server has seen him recently, can you please post the approx date and where in FV? Maybe with all the changes he no longer spawns and someone needs to look at the spawn tables. If someone has seen him, though, that will at least give me some hope. Thanks to all!

I got Red Eye Jack on Trov server on 26th Feb 2002 just west of the Giant Fort or Giant Outpost. I had spent 12 weeks (Sep - Nov 2001)looking for Halfling Swashbuckler before and never once did I see or hear of a Red Eye Jack so I was not looking forward to the 7th Skull Cap quest. I received a tell that one of my former guildmates had just dropped the Red Eye Jack on Feb 25th 2002 near the same area where the Halfling Swashbuckler and Kwinn the outlander wander (between the muddy hill and Giant Fort Outpost). Now that I am 48 very few of the mobs give exp so I concentrated on the Giants. I have no clue if something I killed spawned Red Eye Jack but I had just killed Kwinn prior to seeing Red Eye Jack. I had not killed any giants since they were already camped. Total time spent in FV for Red Eye Jack was less than 4 hours - so go get RE Jack before he becomes extinct again!

Of all the people that found him in the last couple months, where did you find him at? The giant fort or near the town?? Killing everything near town like the drixies and what not is suicide, so i hope he pops near the fort like halfling now.

When I did this step, I did some research. I managed to find 2 people on my server that remembered seeing him. One saw him in August, and the other saw him sometime in October. I stayed there for a week for many many hours a day. However this was during the initial release of Velious, and with the servers coming down 2 to 3 times a day. I got about 20 patches, and was there for most of them. I think that had a lot to do with me finding him. Supposedly Verant is working on these quests. I would suggest sending an email to Thom Terazzas, and Ester. Perhaps if they have enough pressure on them, they will get something done.

Guys, check out Everlore's record for this quest. They have the best record of progress. This quest *has* been completed. The eye of rokgus, for instance, is found off of Red Eye Jack, a pirate NPC that spawns near Firona Vie city in FV zone. Unfortunately, he must be triggered by mass killing in the area before you even have a shot of seeing him (he is very rare).

Okie, I've gotten the 2 gems that we know what are, which are the "shiney emerald" off the greater charbone in Emerald Jungle, which is the Heart of Torsis if ya ID it, and the Gem of Yet to Come, which is dropped by the Sarnek Gem oracle in the Lake of Ill omens. They spawn right outside the fort, by either the front or back door, always to the right side of the door, they're just really rare. Both of these gems are lore, magic, and no drop, so I am inclined to think that the other 2 gems ware looking for will have similar statistics. Verant may not have put them all into the game yet, but I am fairly certain that neither the Essense of Dol, or the Eye of Melnor is for this quest, neither ID as the Eye of Rokgus, just FYI, and no one has any clue about the Crown Jewel of Ganak yet.

I don't know if anyone realizes this but what if this quest doesn't give you back a skullcap, instead you recieve one of the spiffy looking robes they wear. He never mentions that you get a skull cap back. Now to get your skullcap you talk to the hermit and do the same quest again, thus recieving the sorcerers skullcap. However, if once you complete the quest with the guildmaster for the '7th skullcap' he might then turn to you and say, I wish you to slay the hermit(for reason of offering a faulty skullcap). Which when you kill the hermit he drops a robe that looks like those the necromancers wear. Return his robe and you recieve an upgraded version of this robe. Any thoughts?

I doubt that as none of the other quests mentioned you get a skullcap back as a reward. Though it is a thought that you can use the same gems for the hermit's quest just as you do for the harbringer.. Once we find out which ones are the correct ones for the harbringer, i plan on doing both. Only thing is that just inquiring about the hermit's gives you bad faction with the necro guild in cabilis.

In my time in Droga (where Chief Rokgus is), I never got an eye from him, but many of the soothsayers here drop an Eye of Melnor, perhaps this item is the Eye / Gem needed? Being a druid (and having lost the roll for it) I never got to ID it, but it's worth trying to see if Identify gives any extra info on this Eye of Melnor.
