Klok Mugruk is an armor merchant located in East Cabilis at +387, -217, +6.06 in the west part of the Haggle Baron building. He's on Find (Ctrl+F).

    You say, 'Hail, Klok Mugruk'

Klok Mugruk says 'Welcome to my shop, sss. Only the finessst I have. I make for you jussst as I make for the emperor's harem. Many [bristle silk] garmentsss do they need. Ssss.. Lucky man, the emperor isss.

    You say, 'What bristle silk?'

Klok Mugruk says 'What is bristle silk?!! Huh? Where have you been living? Under the rocksss.. Nahh. I sssee. You are a broodling from the common ssstock. You could never afford bristle silk nor the affectionss of those who drape themselves with it. Still, commons have much ssservice to offer. Maybe you would like to earn some [curscale armor]. Hmm?

You say, 'What is curscale armor?'

Klok Mugruk says 'Curscale armor? I make thisss crude armor from the broodlings of the scaled wolves. I use the ssskins of the pupsss and cubs. Those ssskins are ssstill young and thin and are bessst for the young adventurers. I sssupply them to the Legion of Cabilisss, but for a [small service] I shall make them available to you.

    You say, 'What small service?'

Klok Mugruk says 'I am in need of pup and cub scaled wolf skins to create more [curscale armor]. Many Legionnaires have died in battle. The Baron demands more sssuits. I mussst have more ssskins or it is MY HIDE!! I shall reward pieces of the curscale armor to any who [perform a small service].

You say, 'I will perform a small service'

Klok Mugruk says 'Good. You take thisss pack and fill it all with scaled curskins. Only the pupsss and cubs of the scaled wolves shall do. They are not much for one sssuch as you. Combine all those ssskins and return the full curskin pack and I shall reward you with any available piece of curskin armor and a sssmall amount of coin. Mossst important is that you shall be proving your allegiance to all of Cabilisss.

You receive an Empty Curskin Bag.

In the Field of Bone, kill scaled wolf pups and cubs until you have 8 Scaled Curskin. In the container, combine these to create a Full Curskin Bag. Give this to Klok Mugruk.

Klok Mugruk says 'You are a good servant and a fine citizen. I have this piece of curscale armor available, but if it is not enough then perhaps I shall have another piece available if you were to [perform the small service] again.

Your faction standing with Cabalis Residents has been adjusted by 5.
Your faction standing with Legion Of Cabilis has been adjusted by 1.

    You gain experience!!
You receive 2 silver from Klok Mugruk.
You receive 1 gold from Klok Mugruk

I have bug reported this in-game as well. I tried every phrase listed in this thread (even some that sounded really wrong lol). None worked, got exact situation Jophiel describes.

If there is anyone who decides to have Cabilis as their starting city and bypass the tutorial and Crescent Reach, this is one of the best quests to do as a new character.

You get good exp, armor, coin, and any random armor you already have you can sell for coin. It is great for getting needed spells.

You can find Klok Mugruk easily now with the new Find button in your Actions area.

This container and many other quest/non-tradeskill containers are currently broken (they do not combine as expected). The fix for this should go live with the patch tomorrow, March 10th.

Today, i went and wiped out newb area of scaled wolf pups and cubs. I found 1 cub out of them all, and it took 4 hits from me before it fell(I have a sap of piety,13 36, very nice weap)from about 29. I am currently hunting these to get my merchant faction up, so newbs beware

For newbies backpacks are hard to come by to do this quest without going back and forth getting curscale skins then bringing them back to klok Mugruk. So hail him and get the backpack to put the curscale skins in. Then go to the shaman/Shadow Nkight guild and hail one of the shaman lords(forgot what they are called) and you get a 4 container bowl. This way you can get 16 curscale skins in 1 trip by putting 8 in the backpack, 4 in the bowl and 4 in inventory.

After the patch which makes it so easy for low levellers I started a newbie monk and doing this quest alone, got to level 5 in about two hours. I was never in any danger of getting killed by these things...even when they started mobbing me.(although the first time I was mobbed was at level 3, so below that level, be careful!) Also, I found it best to get as many skins as you can carry then when you are trading in the full pack and ask for another pack..if you have enough on you to fill it again, do so..it saves another journey. If you don't have enough to fill the pack again, put the rest of the skins in the bank, then the the next time you come back, you should have accumulated enough to hand in the pack twice.
This armour is great for noobs and will certainly do until I start getting some sparring armour

Good idea, but no merchant 'stocks' these skins. So the only ones they have for sale are the ones that players sold to them. I don't think VI would allow us to 'buy' experience.

WOW. This was a fun little quest. Great for a beginer guy. You get exp. for the pups and a lot for turning in. I got a monk from 1 to 4 just by doing this quest. 1 bad thimg is it is heavy. If you can only cary 75-100 pounds you will be encombered. What you wanna do is fill your bags with 8 skins each then go turn in. Oh! Just hail him and say "Iwould like to perform a small service" and he will give you a bag.
    Quest rocks

This quest rocks, you get great newbie exp, money, faction and a newbie armor. I encourage this quest to any iksar under lvl 5 or 6.

    Great Quest
    # Nov 27 2001 at 7:22 PM Rating: Good
This quest is excellent. I will probably keep this armor until about lvl 10 when my sewing skil will be high enough to sew some better armor. This is what you should do if u are an untwinked monk: get your first shackle and the quest for the second, go across from the monk guild and get this quest, do this quest until u get a full set and when u can buy large sewing kits(2) a 1hb and 2hb weapon, sherukins, and bandages. whenever u get spider silks combine em in your kits to boost your sewing skill, also put 1 point in all skills u need to including brewery and tailoring, save most points for mend but at lvl 12 start saving your skill points to put into feign death.
    Lost Backpack
    # Nov 25 2001 at 9:33 AM Rating: Default
Can any backpack do this quest? I was ambushed by skeletons and killed several times. Due to computer lockup, I lost my corpse and the backpack Mugruk gave me. I went back to talk to him to get another backpack, but was ignored. What can I do?
    Great newbie quest
    # Nov 23 2001 at 9:57 AM Rating: Decent
My little iksar shaman has done this quest about 10 times already. You get a piece of curscale armor each time and one gold. Also at level 6 I still get 2 blue everytime I turn in the backpack.
The armor itself is nothing special and has no graphic, but it is better than nothing at all. And you can sell it back to the Haggle Baron if you don't want it.
    Multiples
    # Nov 18 2001 at 12:25 PM Rating: Default
got the tunic right away and others. I got the belt the last 4 times, so I quit. Wish there was a way not to get so many multiples.

    It's still an excellent quest.
    the look
    # Oct 22 2001 at 8:35 PM Rating: Default
what does the curscale look like on your character? And i know this has nothing to do with curscale but is it true a Rhino hide cap or whatever gives your helmet a bone animation when you put it on,just wondering.

    RE: the look
    # Jan 31 2003 at 12:05 PM Rating: Decent
Dunno about Rhino hide, but an executioner's hood on a male iksar looks like a big skull mask with horns. Pretty cool, and it made my human monk friend jealous, since on her it looks like a goofy leather skullcap.
    Correct Phrase
    # Oct 10 2001 at 7:33 AM Rating: Default
Great quest, just did it so many times with my Iksar Shaman and her (kinda) sister Monk. Great XP, and if you get multiples, selling to vendor price is about 1 GP each.

The proper phrase to get the pack is "I will perform the small service."

    Great for Faction
    # Jul 27 2001 at 11:48 AM Rating: Good
I have a lvl 27 DE SK. I created her with the intent of getting her into Cabilis at some point, since I knew it would be near impossible to get my lvl 54 Woodelf Druid in there.

At lvl 20 I went to LOIO and started killing all the gobolins, sarnaks and outcasts that I could find. By lvl 26 I was feeling brave enough to check my faction....Legions of Cabilis, Dubious :)

I went to Kurns and hunted skellies from top to bottom and got 9 full back packs and turned them into Mozo by standing in the corner by the torch. Still dubious, so had a few guildmates come out to Kurns and help me harvest bonechips. I started losing count, but about 4 days later, I conned Crusader Bodli and found that I was dubious.

Went into the city and there happened to be a lvl 60 Enchanter in there :) She gave me the tour and conned the bankers and Grype for me. They both still scowled at me. So, that goes to show I didn't kill enough outcasts and that the bone chip quest sucks for raising Residents of Cabilis faction.

I've been handing in more bone chips, Marauder MM ring, and pincers to raise my Crusader faction above Dubious so that I can train. And the ONLY quest that I have found to raise Resident faction is Curskins. This is another that I have lost count of how many I have handed in, but as of now I have gone from scowls to threat with the bankers and Jozter and his friend.

I have also been killing outcasts all I can in FoB and Swamp of No Hope. As of now my faction is like this: Legions of Cabilis Warmly (faction cannot possibly get any better is the message I get)
    Crusaders of GreenMist Dubious
    Swiftails Amiable
    Scaled Mystics Amiable
    Residents of Cabilis Threateningly
    Brood of Kotiz Scowls

A lot of people think I am crazy, but I am staying right in this area till I get my Crusader and Resident faction to an acceptable status :) But this blueberry muffin needs to be close to her iksar husband :)

Esclava Detristeza lvl 27 Dark Elf ShadowKnight
Faustina Greanlover lvl 54 WoodElf Druid

    Not for Necros?
    # May 20 2001 at 2:31 PM Rating: Good
I just got a shawl and boots today, and they are not equippable by Necros. Was this a recent change in a patch, or what?

Some of the messages below seem to say that Necromancers can use it, but apparently not.

    RE: Not for Necros?
    # Jul 24 2001 at 12:38 AM Rating: Excellent
Well, they guy below this post says he has a necro "decked" out in it, but he also says he can wear cured silk, a Monk ONLY armor. Not a very smart guy.
#Anonymous, Posted: May 16 2001 at 7:49 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This quest is awesome by far better than silk, i do recommand it to necros... being one myself... im still decked out in it, but some of my items our int of coures.... but none the less its great stuff easy as hell to do... thou easy for a necro to say we can solo from 1 to 60 if need be.... its almost time for cured silk... but if your wise and a necro u can hold out on cured silk for along time since YOUR pet is the fighter :)
