This is a seasonal task (offered around Valentine's Day) given by the Emissary of Erollisi in the Plane of Knowledge. She's located at 260, 1340 (just east of the Bazaar entrance).

You say, 'Hail, Emissary of Erollisi'

Emissary of Erollisi says 'Why hello there, friend. Good tidings and blessings of love to you! The days of Erollisi are upon us. It's time to put away our petty differences and embrace one another as equals and friends, though some seem not to be in the grand spirit of such a wonderful time! Erollisi has sent me here to enlist the aid of friends such as yourself to help spread her message of love! Can I count on you to lend [help] and spread joy throughout Norrath?'

      You say, 'I will help!'

Emissary of Erollisi says 'Wonderful! Simply wonderful. Here, take this doll to aid you upon your task. The goddess herself has imbued this doll with magical powers which can turn an enemy to friend if they're open to her blessings. Return to me when you have found at least ten new friends, and receive Erollisi's blessing upon you!'

You receive "Erollisi's Idol of Friendship" with a right-click effect "Can We Be Friends?".

You have been assigned the task 'Things Are Best with Friends'.

The goddess, Erollisi has enlisted you to spread her message of friendship and love by venturing out into the world and making 10 new friends. Use the Erollisi Friendship Doll to help make new friends.

Make friends with 10 people using the Erollisi Friendship Doll 0/10 (ALL)

Target players and right-click the item (30 second recast delay) until you've gotten 10 updates. You can cast on the same person if they have full buffs to avoid the buff timer limit. However it doesn't always update.

Return to the Emissary of Erollisi in the Plane of Knowledge 0/1 (Plane of Knowledge)

You have completed Erollisi's charge, and made new friends, spreading peace and love throughout Norrath.

Don't worry about buff not falling off in Lobby or PoK. It does indeed countdown.
      Reward is level based

I did the quest with a level 2 mule I had. She got a choice between either 2.xxx plat or 4% of level 2 to level 3.

The friendship/non-friendship buff is a normal buff that will time down in any zone (PoK, Guild Lobby, etc). This buff is a side effect of the clicky and has no bearing on whether or not you get a friend quest count or not...it is just there to slow down the process and make you go find other toons (clicky cooldown is 30 sec, but the buffs are 2 or 3 minutes in length).

BUT if the buff cannot land on a toon (when the toon is at the buff limit), you can keep using that toon over and over again because the buff never lands and the toon is always a valid target. So find yourself a low level toon at your server's buff pile that is at the 15 buff limit (or create your own) and just click the idol every 30 seconds until you have your 10 successes.

      Easy peasy.

Thanks for this information. I tried the normal way and after 6 attempts and no friends i started to get frustrated. Tried the 7th one on a fellow iksar and it worked but decided to try your suggestion and it worked at first. This method did not work every time though. Tried this many times and it varried but definitely not guaranteed to work every time but he was right about being able to cast it on that same character numerous times without having to wait for the buff to fade off if the character has max buffs. So in the end this was certainly much easier than running around trying to find people to cast it on.

Glad my suggestion could help you.

Sorry if it wasn't clear before - whether or not you get a success is still random (over many, many toons, I'd say the success rate is 50 percent...like a coin flip). And like a coin flip, it's still perfectly normal to get 4-5 failures or successes in a row and still be completely random.

What this quest description doesn't mention is that one of two things can happen when you use the idol. The player you target will get either the 'feeling of friendship' or 'not so friendly' effect in their buff window. Neither can be clicked off or blocked.

'Feeling of friendship' counts toward your goal, lasts 2 minutes and wears of in the suspended buff zones.

'Not so friendly' does not count toward your goal, lasts 3 minutes and will not wear off in the suspended buff zones.

Please don't use it on random people you happen to see, especially those in buff areas around Teek or in the guild lobby. It will waste one of their buff slots that could be used for something important, especially if they get 'not so friendly' which won't wear off unless they zone.

I tested this with some of my own toons. The effect your target will get is random, with 'not so friendly' happening more often. You can use the idol on one player multiple times, but you have to wait for the current effect to wear off before you can cast it again. I suggest using alts, guildmates or friends who know what's going on. It doesn't take long to finish and you won't make people mad.

The "Not so friendly" buff does wear off in Guild Lobby. Confirmed. Likewise the "Feeling of Friendship" buff also wears off in the Guild Lobby.
