Diggs Duggun is a dwarf that runs around the maze.

You say, 'Hail, Diggs Duggun'

Diggs Duggun says ''ail, dere! Ain'tcha a sight fer me sore eyes! I knows dat we're strangers an' all, but might I ask a [boon] of ye?'

You say, 'What boon?'

Diggs Duggun says 'Well, me pickaxe is blunted awfully bad and me ale supplies are dangerously low. If'n ye would be kind enough t' get me a new pick and a couple o' bottles o' dwarven ale, I would be f'rever in yer debt.'

Give him a Pick (found at the vendor at the Kaladim Bank) and two Dwarven Ales (not stacked).

Diggs Duggun drinks one of the ales and burps loudly then says 'By Brell's Beard! Yer a lifesaver, ya are! 'ere, take dis bone I've found 'ere in dis maze. Looks human ta me and I'm thinkin that a proper burial is in order. Freeport's the closest place dat has one o Marr's temples. I'm thinkin dis was one o' his Holy Knights by da look o' da tattered tunic I found it wrapped in. I'm thinkin Valeron might be havin an interest in it.'

Receive A Dusty Old Leg Bone.

Now go find a Paladin guildmaster by the name of Valeron Dushire. He is in West Freeport, approximate location -1120, +495, -126 (inside the Hall of Truth, the building in the north-northwest part of West Freeport).

You say, 'Hail, Valeron Dushire'

Valeron Dushire says 'I am Sir Valeron Dushire, leader of the order of the Knights of Truth. If your soul shines with purity and strength, I urge you to join our order. The might of Mithaniel Marr stands behind all who join. Soon that might will help us free this city from the tyranny of the [Freeport Militia].'

Give him the Dusty Old Leg Bone. You must be indifferent or he will simply hand it back.

Valeron Dushire says 'Hail, adventurer! I... what's this? Where did you get this? Never mind.. I.. I never thought we would find [him]!'

You say, 'Who is Diggs Duggun?'

Valeron Dushire says 'According to this crest on the tunic, you have recovered one of the bones of a lost Paladin [Hero].'

You say, 'What hero?'

Valeron Dushire says 'His name has been long lost but his legend lives on in every young knight who aspires to continue his fight. He attempted to quell an evil that resided within Kithicor, perverting nature itself. Much to his relief, it was an earthly foe he fought against and not a denizen summoned from the planes of evil. Then, suddenly, he was surrounded by dozens of dark elves. He was captured and taken to the Dead to be experimented upon and had his soul twisted by vile necromantic magics. Then the Tier'Dal cast his remains to the winds. Where they landed, no one knew, until now. You have found one of his bones. I hereby charge you with a Holy Quest to bring this Hero's bones back for a burial with honors. Do you [accept], knight?'

You say, 'I accept.'

Valeron Dushire says 'Good! I knew you would. It is one of the highest honors one can receive. Your quest will not be easy for I know not where his other bones lay. A spy of ours within Neriak was able to surmise that six of his bones along with his sword and shield were scattered throughout Norrath. You must search far and wide to find the remaining pieces, as you already have one.. Do not give up. It is now your sacred duty. Once you have retrieved all eight pieces, come back to me and inform me that you [have all the bones].'

You now need to collect six bones, a shield, a sword and a coffin. These are the items and locations:

1. A Dusty Old Skull - Minotaur caves in Steamfont in Meldrath's room.

2. A Dusty Old Leg Bone - You received this from talking to Diggs Duggun in Beholder's Maze.

3. A Dusty Ribcage - The Garden in Castle Mistmoore.

4. A Dusty Old Backbone - Ghost Room Pit in Unrest.

5. A Dusty Old Jawbone - Underwater Ice Cave in Everfrost.

6. Dusty Old Finger Bones - Inside Phinigel Autropos's room in Kedge Keep on a rock next to the wall. Exact Location is neg 147, pos 145, neg 251.

7. A Dusty Broken Sword - In the mines of Kaladim in the water.

8. A Dusty Broken Shield - On a ledge on right cliffs in Erudin from the docks.

9. Gem Encrusted Casket is received from Ping Fuzzlecutter as follows:

You say, 'I have all the bones.'

Valeron Dushire says 'Excellent! You are indeed worthy to bear the title of Holy Knight! Now, about the coffin. I have spoken with Ping Fuzzlecutter, outside the western gates. Ask him about the coffin and once it is made, bring it to Simon Aldicott of Marr. I shall have Simon meet you by the lake in the Commonlands after Ping gives you the coffin.'

Go to Ping Fuzzlecutter, outside the gates of West Freeport.

You say, 'What components?'

Ping gives you an Empty Gem Bag to combine the following items:

1. a diamond
2. a star ruby
3. a pearl
4. a fire emerald (you have to buy it from Brisha Fyrestone in Firiona Vie (ask her "What about the special fire emerald") and then give it to her husband to get the correct one -- there are two kinds of fire emeralds out there and this is the one that works)
5. a sapphire
6. a fire opal
7. 2 enchanted platinum bars

Combine the gems in the bag to craft a Full Gem Bag. Give this to Ping to receive a Gem Encrusted Casket.

Ping Fuzzlecutter smiles broadly as he rifles through the bag, then looks up at you and says, 'Bout time! Here is the coffin as promised.'

Put the dusty items in the casket and combine to craft A Gem Encrusted Casket. See Simon Aldicott in the West Commonlands.

You say, 'Hail, Simon Aldicott'

Simon Aldicott says, 'Hail and well met, ______. I am Simon Aldicott, a cleric in the service of Mithaniel Marr. I've been sent here to prepare a [funeral service] for one of our lost to join Marr in his kingdom.'

You say, 'What funeral service?'

Simon Aldicott says, 'Are you the brave knight whom Valeron sent to meet me here? If so, please place the remains in the coffin and seal it. Then hand me the coffin so that we may bless it in the waters of this lake.'

Give him the casket.

Simon Aldicott places the coffin in the water and begins to pray. 'Lord of Valor high above, take this knight, your loyal child, into thy kingdom and... by all that is holy! What is that thing?!'

A Tortured Revenant will spawn and attack you (some thanks eh?). Kill it and loot Revenant Ash (identifies as "Ash of Darak Lightforge").

A Tortured Revenant's corpse says 'At last I can rest..'

Give the Revenant Ash to Simon and he will reward you with your new spell.

Simon Aldicott says, ''Tis a sad thing. His soul was twisted to its current state somehow and he thought YOU were the foul Teir'Dal who destroyed him in the first place. But that is no matter..you have freed him to stand by Marr's side once more! Now, give me the ash so that I may finally put him to rest. In return for your valor I shall provide you with an ancient spell unknown to most Holy Knights of Marr.'

Simon Aldicott says, 'Thank you Knight. With this task accomplished, I shall reward you with this scroll. It is an ancient spell that only the holiest of knights may cast. Remember your duty!'
Your faction standing with Priests of Marr got better.
Your faction standing with The Freeport Militia got worse.
Your faction standing with Knights of Truth got better.

You gain experience!!

Ok, I have a post for all pallys that havent started this..Get the finger first. if you cant get the finger dont bother with the rest. I have been trying to get it for 2 weeks and cant seem to figure out a way to do so. I have EVERYTHING else. Can someone please tell me a good strategy to get this. I cant get a group to let me in when they are in Kedge to get in Phiny's room. I hear that if he is dead that the SS guards can see invis and will kill me if I go in there also. Does anyone have a plan? Raiding and killing the entire dungeon is a no go.(I dont have the man power) How many people does it take to go in and kill the room with /and without Phiny there....please help with any and all info you may have.
p.s. All the posts/info on this site are GREAT the other items are easy to get/find with the help from everyone else's posts. Great job guys

Thanks in advance for any help,

Concern #1: Phinny is up
Forget it, don't even TRY to get the bone unless you're in a raid. Phinny is one nasty MOB.

Concern #2: Seahorses see through invis
The tricky part of this is SOME seahorses see through invis, some do not. When I attempted it, I was lucky and none of the ones who were up saw through invis, so I was able to go down and get the bone.

Someone else mentioned that you can swim down next to a seahorse that does not see through invis and stay out of the aggro range of those who do. You can con from a distance, so it's pretty easy to tell which ones do and which don't. When I attempted it, I had my friends hold all my equipment (except a coldstone and a couple of invis potions in case it dropped while I was looking around down there), so if I died, it was no loss, except some XP.

As for getting back out, there are a couple of options - you can try swimming back out (picking up the finger does NOT drop invis) by the same seahorse you came down near, you can have a porter swim down with you and port from the bottom of the room, or you can buy a gate potion and gate out once you've got the finger.

For getting down to Phinny's room, that was actually pretty easy. We invised at the entrance, and just swam down. If someone dropped invis and was attacked, we just evac'd. If you can see the route ahead of time on the map, it's really not too far, and there are a couple of "safe" spots (only green cons swimming by).

Good luck.

What? You used a coldstone? What about that nice LVL 15 pally spell, 'halo of light'? Maybe this is what that spell is for? I know I have never used it unless I was bored, or on a CR in a dark area. Come on, use the spells you have at least. LOL

The simple thing is to NOT KILL the little fishies. If you keep good faction with them they will not break any invis, their faction is completely different than the rest of the stuff in there and works on the same scale as bear or wolf faction would to a ranger. You will not see the faction hit but they will start scowing at you if you kill them. Then you need a reasonably balanced team of 50's to go in and do swirlspines. The see thru invis ones are not too hard to kill if they are alone and once you kill these 2 or 3 horsies you are good to go invis (provides you have good faction with the sailfins). BE WARNED a 2 pull is VERY BAD these things have a CH spell with a casting time LESS than any stun spell (hint hint) so 2 will tear you up as they are not mezzable. I had little difficulty with my regular group of 52 chanter, 49 cleric, 49 pally, 46 pally, 49 ranger, and 49 mage. Once again the sailfins in Phinny's room WILL AGRO if you have BAD FACTION with them and they see thru invis. it is not a good CR from there let me tell you.

Dikkamer,
I just completed this quest and was in much the same situation as you. I started by signing up for kedge raids on Rordin's raid site. Most of the time those raids were called because Phinny was killed before the raid. What I had to do was park my char in Dagnor's Cauldron for a week and send tells out to people and try to start a group to go in just for xp camping the swirlspines. Try to get a full group of 55+ people with a good Feign Death puller. After a couple days I knew the spawn times on Phinny and was able to entice higher level people to come, mages and wizards especially. Tanks will join for a chance to get Swirlspine belts. The xp camping seahorses is great. You will also run across people forming a raid and usually ask to join. Since you dont want any epic stuff they should have no problem with you joining. It was not easy. It took me a week before things worked out and I got the bone. I lost over a full bubble of xp there at level 55 in the process. Just be persistent and you will get it.

The Dusy Jawbone is located in the caves beneath the river in Everfrost.

Despite someone's earlier post, the way to access this cave is through the northern hole in the West Fork of the frozen river.

Once in the water, swim directly north to the caves. The caves themselves are not underwater, so breathing won't be an issue. While the swim to the caves CAN be made without enduring breath, I'd recommend against it as it can be a little difficult finding the hole in the ice on the return trip.

Once inside the cave, you may see an aqua goblin or two. Way green at 50, but I have no idea of their level. Additionally, there were some random ice bone skeletons wandering around. I took the opportunity to locate Sulon McMoor. He's in the far NW room of the caves. He conned red to me btw.

To find the Jawbone, walk straight north from the water keeping the wall to your right. The Jawbone is located at POS 4532, NEG 5235 below a painted symbol on the left wall. It's easy to miss if you are only following the wall on the right without stopping to check loc. Once located, it's very easy to exit simply by retracing your steps and heading south.

I'm almost done with this quest and hope to have this spell in the next couple of days. Hopefully, it's worth the time and effort.

Just wanted to say this quest was a blast. Collected all the items in about 4 hrs with the help of a 50 necro and 50 druid with the exception of the diamond (that took 3 days to find a seller). As far as the Tortured revenant ..... be careful. He is highly magic resistant, fire based spells work nicely. Myself and the lvl 50 necro (with pet) managed to take him down in about 10 minutes. Keep in mind this was a very hectic 10 minutes. I would definitely recommend a full group as engulf darkness stuck twice and fear only stuck three times and we ended up kiting at J-boot speed. Luckily the NPC druid (halfing) that wanders that area snared the revenant at the last 20% of the fight. Definetly the funnest quest I have ever done!

Hello,

Seems that some places say that you have to be level 50 to complete this quest, and other places say that you don't (a post below here by a 48 paly said he completed the quest).

Does anyone know for sure about this? I don't want to get a group together to complete the quest only to find out I need to get 4 more bubs of xp...

Thanks!

Complete guide to this quest.
# Feb 03 2001 at 12:29 PM Rating: Good
I'm lvl 48 and I just completed this quest - here's some info that might help.

Get a druid friend to help you, all that running around - you will need ports, sow, enduring breath, and levitate 2 of you can get all parts in a under a day.

1. kaladim = easy (except when a newbie picks it up 30 secs before you). Buy dwarven ale at pub in sth kaladim. Buy pick at vendor in bank.

2. Beholder maze, Erudin, Steamfont = easy. Be inviz in minotaur mines. (p.s. it's not worth killing meldrath)

4. Unrest = trickier to find, if you don't know layout and the dark terror in room sees thru inviz to undead. (easy but annoying to kill)

6. Permafrost - once you find hole it's easy. You need enduring breath tho (longish swim). See eqatlas for loc of hole.

7. Kedge - the 51 druid and myself did this with someone who guided us to Phinny's room and we'd never been to Kedge. We were lucky to go after a patch so phinigel hadn't spawned yet. (or maybe he'd been killed already and it's a 12 hr spawn). I'm told you can hear Phinny casting when he is up. Be inviz at all times. Swim around bottom of pit a lot. This was the most scary part of quest as it took a while to find and inviz wears off etc.

8. The garden in Mistmore is in the castle. You go to room where piano is, then out to courtyard, turn right, and it's in the far corner under a bush. (be inviz of course)

9. Gems - buy in Firiona and ask about the special fire emerald for the one you need. You can buy diamond off a player. (1kpp) You can get fire opal from Genni in the library at the temple of Solusek Ro in Lavastorm. You talk to her and give her 550 gold (or 55 plat). Your faction must at least be indifferent. If your faction is poor, do quest to raise it or get someone with good faction to buy it for you.

10. Say to Ping "what about the components" He will give you bag to put all the gems and enchanted platinum (unstacked)in and combine. You then give bag back to him and he gives you coffin.

11. Hail Simon by lake in WC. put all the bones, sword, shield in coffin, combine and give it to Simon. A tortured revanant will spawn at lake edge that cons yellow (to a 48). This undead mob has high magic resist - ie, it can't be snared, rooted, stunned or feared. But can be dotted. Probably nuked too (wiz lures). I killed it with a group of 6, ranging from 47 to 52. We had 2 monks, 2 druids, shadowknight and pally. No one died. Took about 1-2 mins to kill it, - it heals itself.

12. You then get revanant ash off the mob. Give ash to Simon and he gives you spell.

Hmm...don't ask me why...but Meldrath was not KOS to me at all. I did not spens alot of time there killing Minos early in my career....maybe that is why. But if you are Human or other race and have not visited there....the Mino's WILL attack you anyway. Mino Lord jumped on me and I nailed him quick...then went into Meldraths room without Invis and he was dubious? Dunno...but the skull is always up as most people that hunt there are newbies and scared to death to go in that deep. GOod luck

I've been told that the 'garden' is in fact the 'fountain room' in MM... unable to verify this yet because both of my attempts so far resulted in death and nasty CRs. Gonna go back with a group and kick some butt :)

When you enter the garden area, there is a little alcove to the right, with a small pool and bench. I seem to recall seeing it sitting either on or next to the bench when I was in there.

Last night I accompanied a Mage friend (and her group of people) to kill Phinigel for her Epic Weapon. I figured since I was down there, I might as well get the finger bone, since I am 4 bubs from 49.

We killed Phinigel and all the Guardians with only a couple deaths. I waited for about 5 minutes, then drank an invis potion, and headed down to the hole in Phinny's lair to look for the bone.

I was about halfway down into the hole, when all the sudden I got DD'ed for 10 damage from a little fish. This level 10 or so fish had seen through my invs and aggroed me automatically.

Well, there were two regular Swirlspine Seahorses that popped around the hole, and a Stingtooth Pirrahna that immediately aggroed me. I swam around like a vortex looking for the bone, while taking damage. I was at 30% health when I found the bone and swam out of the hole.

We managed to kill the three assailants without losing anyone else (barely). But I wanted to let all the other Paladins looking for the bone to be careful. Verant seems to have added an additional threat to what should normally be an easy part to this quest once Phinny is dead. Becareful.

I had the same experience. Some of the mobbos in Phinny's lair definitely see invis now. Don't head down there with one friend thinking it's a piece of cake unless you want a potentially nasty CR job on your hand.

A Few Pieces of Advice
# Dec 26 2000 at 11:15 PM Rating: Good
I am quite close to finishing this quest and a few pieces of advice cobbled from these boards and personal experience.

The bones are pretty easy except for Kedge Keep's (of course) and the one from Permafrost. The Permafrost bone can be found by locating the hole in the ice on the west fork of the ice river. Dive down and swim north (enduring breath isn't a necessity but I advise getting it). Swim to the bottom and you'll find an underground cave with air. Cast Invis vs. Undead and skirt the aqua goblin divers. Miragul the Lich and his pet are inside but bear to the right and you will find the bone under a blue symbol on the wall. Voila, you got it.

Next, Ping Fizzlecutter. You can simply ask "What components?" and he will give you the gem bag to place the gems inside. Remember to place the enchanted plat bars inside unstacked.

Next, diamonds. Nearly all the gems can be easily bought (most in Firiona Vie) but the diamonds drop in a few places, namely Sebilis and Fear Plane.

Finally, and I can't verify this but was told by a level 58 paladin who completed the quest. Darak Lightforge is a rather tough mob requiring a full group to put down. This isn't a guy yoiu want to go lightly on since you'd need to start the quest over to make him spawn again I believe.

Good luck brave paladins.

A nice added proc (65 DD), a trifle short in duration (17 minutes). I have low DEX (106) so I only proc 2-3 times per fight but it is a nice unresistable addition to any weapon. Puts one in the mind to go for the much faster weapons for more opportunities to proc more per melee. I am just using a regular (non-procing)sword for now but since the Divine Might proc stacks with all other procs, any Ykesha-like weapon would be doubly advantageous now.

That is the best part...This combined with a sword of the morning(16 27 10 dex effects tishans claw) makes a palidan a great deal stronger. 27 is also a great deal fast than many of the 2handed weapons paladins use..also im not sure but it said somewhere that its a proc on all melle attacks a pali does..that would seem to include bash which would be awesome hehe ive always wanted a 90 damage bash

The not so easy to find bones..Here they are
# Dec 04 2000 at 2:32 PM Rating: Default
Ok here are the bones that most people have trouble finding listed 1-3 in difficulty to get:

1. Fingerbone: Location Phinnys room in Kedge. Not all of the SS guadians see invis I didnt see any that saw through mine. We had just killed Phinny and 2 guardians. I got an invis swam down into the star hole and the bone is sitting on a rock with a cubby hole behind it. (bone is a 18 or 20 minute respawn time I think the same as the gaurdians)

2. Jawbone: Location Everfrost Icecave. You will need endure breath or a waterbreathing device. Find the hole in the ice (sorry no loc) anyway its a long swim from hole to tunnel long enough to drown. Once you reach the tunnel cast invis undead Miragul sometimes wanders around. Night vision helps (blind humans) becuase the cave is dark. There are some way green gobs that won't aggro. Stick to the right wall once you go a good distance in you will see a painting type thing on the left wall the bone is directly below it on the ground.

Dusty Shield: Location Erudin. To get the shield, go to the dock where the shuttle takes off to go to the boat. Jump off into the water and swim to the rocks across from the dock. swim/walk along the rocks keeping wall to your right. Keep going as far as you can and you'll see the shield up on a rock in the corner of the zone.

Happy Questing!

# Nov 29 2000 at 5:52 AM Rating: Default
Ok, there has been a few conflicting posts on this...here is the deal:

Dive down the hole in the ice, swim over untill you surface in an underwater tunnel/cave. When you get in there, keep taking rights untill you come to an area where there is a big painting on the left wall. you'll see it, can't be missed. The bone is a little bag DIRECTLY underneath the painting. And oh yea, Invis vs Undead just incase you stumble upon Mirgual..he wanders..

Does anyone know where in the underwater ice cave you must go to find the jawbone?
RE: Everfrost Cave
# Nov 23 2000 at 10:00 AM Rating: Default
The jawbone is very easy to get. Here are the directions on how to get to it. When you come out of the water, there will be a goblin diver (wuss), just ignore him and go forward to the first junction. The paths go straight, left and right, you want to go right. Follow the right wall and take another right at the next fork. You will come up to a fork that goes straight or left. If you stop right here and look on the ground tot he left the bag is sitting on the ground under a symbol of some sort on the wall. So, first two rights, then on the next junction, look on the ground to the left. Very easy.

Just take only lefts from the enterance to the cave, and only rights to get back out after picking up the bone. Its not that far (maybe 2 minutes of running?), and you should have plenty of time to get out without losing enduring breath.

The bone itself will be along the left wall, against one of the segments textured with a glyph of some type. As for any possible dangers, I saw only one goblin diver the whole time, at the enterance.

Careful guys, that lich will become our friend later in levels. 'Tis the Lich of Miragul, an Erudite Necromancer in which we need to charm, give him his soul, and then kill the living version. What I'm getting at is, that guy is part of the Firey Avenger quest, and is one tough cookie. Have fun!

Ok is it left or right hehe? It is the last bone I need and I haven't died yet getting them (so lets not start now =P) I don't want to stumble across a lich...
Also how hard is the guy that spawns at the end? Oh and the fire emerald,I've heard you give a normal one to someone in FV and I've also heard you just buy it from FV. Which is true??

Thanks for your help!

I, too, am stuck at this juction. I have everything ready to go, but I can't seem to get Ping to talk to me, much less give me a bag. Can anyone let us know what the words, and, or, items we need to get him to give us the bag to get the coffin?

I got this bit of information of eq.castersrealm.com about this quest and should help with Ping

(Note, to get Ping to talk you have to say "Tell me about the coffin.." With the two dots or it will not work)

How to start this quest

I found the Dusty Backbone in the ghost pit in Unrest. When I returned to the Hall of Truth and hailed Theron Rolius, Valeron automatically chimed in about "The mark on the tunic..." I didnt even have the bone on me. It was in the bank. My guess is owning any of the parts will start Valeron talking.

The Spawn that you have to kill is NOT L53. He conned blue to the L51 Pallie doing the Quest. We spent an hour at least prepping and buffing, when slowed we killed him in about a minute with no Wizards or anything like that, just 1 Mage and a bunch of Melee. A group of high 30's Melee actually got the kill. We had 16 people and it was a joke. A balanced group of 50'ish people with slow could do him easy.

Another very easy one to get, just takes a little looking. Here are the directions how to get the shield. I am a dwarf so I had to bring a druid (or anyone with levitate) to make it up the steep cliff faces. But what you need to do is stand on the dock facing where the boat docks. You can see some cliffs on the other side of the water. Those are the ones you need to get to. It is a little hard to see but once you get up there you will see a half grey colored circle sticking out of the ground. Thats your shield!! There aren't any exact directions on where it is, but once you get on the cliff opposite the dock, you will find it, it took me about one minute to find it once I got over there. Good Luck!

?oc is neg 600.73, neg 723.48. I think that you can swim to it. (Don't quote me on it.) It is past the Dwarf.

The shield is in the far South ledge, up along the top. It is a little hard to see from a distance.

The location is -605, -725

Luck on your quest!
