Diggs Duggun is a dwarf that runs around the maze.

You say, 'Hail, Diggs Duggun'

Diggs Duggun says ''ail, dere! Ain'tcha a sight fer me sore eyes! I knows dat we're strangers an' all, but might I ask a [boon] of ye?'

You say, 'What boon?'

Diggs Duggun says 'Well, me pickaxe is blunted awfully bad and me ale supplies are dangerously low. If'n ye would be kind enough t' get me a new pick and a couple o' bottles o' dwarven ale, I would be f'rever in yer debt.'

Give him a Pick (found at the vendor at the Kaladim Bank) and two Dwarven Ales (not stacked).

Diggs Duggun drinks one of the ales and burps loudly then says 'By Brell's Beard! Yer a lifesaver, ya are! 'ere, take dis bone I've found 'ere in dis maze. Looks human ta me and I'm thinkin that a proper burial is in order. Freeport's the closest place dat has one o Marr's temples. I'm thinkin dis was one o' his Holy Knights by da look o' da tattered tunic I found it wrapped in. I'm thinkin Valeron might be havin an interest in it.'

Receive A Dusty Old Leg Bone.

Now go find a Paladin guildmaster by the name of Valeron Dushire. He is in West Freeport, approximate location -1120, +495, -126 (inside the Hall of Truth, the building in the north-northwest part of West Freeport).

You say, 'Hail, Valeron Dushire'

Valeron Dushire says 'I am Sir Valeron Dushire, leader of the order of the Knights of Truth. If your soul shines with purity and strength, I urge you to join our order. The might of Mithaniel Marr stands behind all who join. Soon that might will help us free this city from the tyranny of the [Freeport Militia].'

Give him the Dusty Old Leg Bone. You must be indifferent or he will simply hand it back.

Valeron Dushire says 'Hail, adventurer! I... what's this? Where did you get this? Never mind.. I.. I never thought we would find [him]!'

You say, 'Who is Diggs Duggun?'

Valeron Dushire says 'According to this crest on the tunic, you have recovered one of the bones of a lost Paladin [Hero].'

You say, 'What hero?'

Valeron Dushire says 'His name has been long lost but his legend lives on in every young knight who aspires to continue his fight. He attempted to quell an evil that resided within Kithicor, perverting nature itself. Much to his relief, it was an earthly foe he fought against and not a denizen summoned from the planes of evil. Then, suddenly, he was surrounded by dozens of dark elves. He was captured and taken to the Dead to be experimented upon and had his soul twisted by vile necromantic magics. Then the Tier'Dal cast his remains to the winds. Where they landed, no one knew, until now. You have found one of his bones. I hereby charge you with a Holy Quest to bring this Hero's bones back for a burial with honors. Do you [accept], knight?'

You say, 'I accept.'

Valeron Dushire says 'Good! I knew you would. It is one of the highest honors one can receive. Your quest will not be easy for I know not where his other bones lay. A spy of ours within Neriak was able to surmise that six of his bones along with his sword and shield were scattered throughout Norrath. You must search far and wide to find the remaining pieces, as you already have one.. Do not give up. It is now your sacred duty. Once you have retrieved all eight pieces, come back to me and inform me that you [have all the bones].'

You now need to collect six bones, a shield, a sword and a coffin. These are the items and locations:

1. A Dusty Old Skull - Minotaur caves in Steamfont in Meldrath's room.

2. A Dusty Old Leg Bone - You received this from talking to Diggs Duggun in Beholder's Maze.

3. A Dusty Ribcage - The Garden in Castle Mistmoore.

4. A Dusty Old Backbone - Ghost Room Pit in Unrest.

5. A Dusty Old Jawbone - Underwater Ice Cave in Everfrost.

6. Dusty Old Finger Bones - Inside Phinigel Autropos's room in Kedge Keep on a rock next to the wall. Exact Location is neg 147, pos 145, neg 251.

7. A Dusty Broken Sword - In the mines of Kaladim in the water.

8. A Dusty Broken Shield - On a ledge on right cliffs in Erudin from the docks.

9. Gem Encrusted Casket is received from Ping Fuzzlecutter as follows:

You say, 'I have all the bones.'

Valeron Dushire says 'Excellent! You are indeed worthy to bear the title of Holy Knight! Now, about the coffin. I have spoken with Ping Fuzzlecutter, outside the western gates. Ask him about the coffin and once it is made, bring it to Simon Aldicott of Marr. I shall have Simon meet you by the lake in the Commonlands after Ping gives you the coffin.'

Go to Ping Fuzzlecutter, outside the gates of West Freeport.

You say, 'What components?'

Ping gives you an Empty Gem Bag to combine the following items:

1. a diamond
2. a star ruby
3. a pearl
4. a fire emerald (you have to buy it from Brisha Fyrestone in Firiona Vie (ask her "What about the special fire emerald") and then give it to her husband to get the correct one -- there are two kinds of fire emeralds out there and this is the one that works)
5. a sapphire
6. a fire opal
7. 2 enchanted platinum bars

Combine the gems in the bag to craft a Full Gem Bag. Give this to Ping to receive a Gem Encrusted Casket.

Ping Fuzzlecutter smiles broadly as he rifles through the bag, then looks up at you and says, 'Bout time! Here is the coffin as promised.'

Put the dusty items in the casket and combine to craft A Gem Encrusted Casket. See Simon Aldicott in the West Commonlands.

You say, 'Hail, Simon Aldicott'

Simon Aldicott says, 'Hail and well met, ______. I am Simon Aldicott, a cleric in the service of Mithaniel Marr. I've been sent here to prepare a [funeral service] for one of our lost to join Marr in his kingdom.'

You say, 'What funeral service?'

Simon Aldicott says, 'Are you the brave knight whom Valeron sent to meet me here? If so, please place the remains in the coffin and seal it. Then hand me the coffin so that we may bless it in the waters of this lake.'

Give him the casket.

Simon Aldicott places the coffin in the water and begins to pray. 'Lord of Valor high above, take this knight, your loyal child, into thy kingdom and... by all that is holy! What is that thing?!'

A Tortured Revenant will spawn and attack you (some thanks eh?). Kill it and loot Revenant Ash (identifies as "Ash of Darak Lightforge").

A Tortured Revenant's corpse says 'At last I can rest..'

Give the Revenant Ash to Simon and he will reward you with your new spell.

Simon Aldicott says, ''Tis a sad thing. His soul was twisted to its current state somehow and he thought YOU were the foul Teir'Dal who destroyed him in the first place. But that is no matter..you have freed him to stand by Marr's side once more! Now, give me the ash so that I may finally put him to rest. In return for your valor I shall provide you with an ancient spell unknown to most Holy Knights of Marr.'

Simon Aldicott says, 'Thank you Knight. With this task accomplished, I shall reward you with this scroll. It is an ancient spell that only the holiest of knights may cast. Remember your duty!'

It's a level 49 spell. How do they expect you to use it, if you can't get it? Of course you can get it below 50. I dont any Paladins who have gotten it before 49, though I KNOW that at 49 you can do the quest.

Oh, and no, the post below mine(2 down from this post) is incorrect from what I saw. Phinny was up when I did this, and yet none of the swirlspines saw through invis. I don't think they ever can. So if he is not up, and you have an invis potion. You have it made =)

I completed this quest today. I fallowed the posts on this site to help me do almost all of the quest. Although I did do some things different. I completed everything without much difficulty rather quickly with the help of a druid. The only hard parts were the phinny room drop, and the LVL 50 skelly.

Here is what I did:

First I dueled my druid at the couldron near KK zone, LVL 31, so it took quite a while. Then ran back naked with my halo of light on, and my hammer of wrath =P When I got back, I noticed that there was a somone that had been standing next to Unrest zonin for quite some time. Her name was Qalenie. I would like to thank Qalenie of Enigm(something) Revolution. She is a LVL 55 Shammy that happened to be outside of the Kedge Keep zone. She offered to help when I asked if if phinny was up. She went in, and saw that he WAS up. She then devised a brilliant plan. I knew the route there and back, and knew exactly where the ground spawn I needed was. So, she was in my group, and CoH'd me to her in the above part of phinny's room. She then gave me a new invis, and swam back to the zone. CoH takes 12 seconds to cast, so here is what we did:

I knew where to go, and was as close as possible outside of agro range waiting for her mark. When she reached zone, she started to cast CoH, and I swam down and grabbed the dusty finger, and was CoH'd to zone before I was even agroe'd on. Amazing!! She is a freakin genious for coming up with that plan. I am surprized I have never seen a post on that route.

Next, I need to give another really big thank you to Wuden from Cats in Hats.

Wuden was in NFP when I was shouting for help to kill the skelly in WC. I asked if he would go, and said "I guess" WOOT!!! LVL 60 warlord of course. I asked a nice CiH cleric, but she had to log right then and couldn't although she actually would have =) So Wuden was in such a hurry that my pocket druid, Drexia, GG's us there and DS's Wuden. I sent a tell to a LVL 50 pally in zone to come help, but Wuden was in such a hurry that I had to turn in the coffin before I got a response. So the little skelly pops, and Wuden and I start to wail on it. Wuden of course was doing most of the wailing. Drexia (the druid)healed him a few times until OOM, and then I started to heal when the other LVL 50 pally showed up (sorry forgot his name). The skelly has about 8000hps, and hit in the 140+ from what I saw. Not only that, but he has a super fast heal spell, and can cast it about 5 times before he goes OOM. So anyways, bam he's dead. Wuden still had 2 bubs of health, and I didn't even have to LoH him =) Wuden ownz is the meaning of that story. No, wait the meaning is that I got my spell, WOOT!

Anyways, that is how I did it. It was a fun quest when I got the help, and the other parts weren't too bad. Only part I could have done without is the 2k in gems part. Bad for the pocketbook!

Also, I didn't notice it posted anywhere else, so I will. The spell looks like a canablaize when casted. VERY cool spell for a pally. I cannot wait to get some more use out of it.

Swirlspines and Invis

It was my experience and what I thought the situation was on the Swirlspine Seahorses was that Phinny cast See Invis on some of the Seahorses as a buff. If he is up, they will see through Invis because he casts it on them. Once you kill the ones that can see through Invis and kill Phinny, (on a raid, of course) the respawning Swirlspines, any of them, cannot see thru Invis.

On the raid we killed Phinny and his guards and then sent in a Paladin. After the Swirlspines started respawning, a Bard invised us and we went down every time the bone popped and got it. I was last to go. Invised in with the Bard. Didn't con any seahorses to check if they could or couldn't see thru Invis, grabbed the bone, came back out. No problems without Phinny.

I guess I don't know for sure if any can see thru invis on their own accord, but on the night I got my fingerbone, once Phinny was dead, we had no Invis problems.

Just something to think about!

Easy way to get this bone is to get a wiz, invis up and head for main entrance, not through graveyard.
In front of gate is a tree, climb as high as possible up it and get wiz to lev you both. you can then float over to the roof. You have to aim for the roof to the left of entrance.
Once on roof you head right and drop into fountain room..pick up the bone and port out. Et Voila!

Ok I went to Kedge Keep 2 days ago and invis all the way into Phinny's room. But I couldn't find the skull for the death of me!! Do I have to go down into the star in the floor or is it somewhere above the the room? Much help is appreciated because I would like to make a suicide run to get the skull!! Or I need is to click on it to loot it before I die so I have to know exactly where it is!

Any help is most appreciated!!

Nope, you have to go all the way down. The quest description on this site gives you the EXACT location of the finger. A word of warning, SOME of the swirlspines see throug invis. You can con them from a distance, and approach via the ones that are not. I was lucky when I did this, as all of the seahorses up could not see through invis, so it was a simple run down through the floor. I had a group of friends waiting above out of the seahorse aggro range, so once I got the fingerbone (getting does NOT drop invis), I swam right out and we ported out immediately.

As a warning, if some of the seahorses CAN see through your invis, you will need to attempt to go down the hole next to one of the seahorses that CANNOT see through invis. If you get within the aggro range of one of them, one of 'em hits you, you appear and it's all over but the corpse retrieval. It's not like you can swim fast down the hole grab the bone, die, then have your corpse summoned out. You'll never even get DOWN the hole before you're hit with multiple Vortex spells. Once that happens, you're dead.

And of course, don't even ATTEMPT that if Phinny is up

Be careful down there, bring help if you can, he was a real nasty! Also make sure you get a enduring breathe before you head under the ice, it was way too close for comfort

Just finished this last night.. Did it all in about 3 hours.. Just an FYI on the Kedge bone.. Some of the guardians do see through invis.. However not all do. All you have to do is find 1 that does not, and swim down past him, all the way to the bottom.. there are alcoves with big bolder in them.. The bone is on the boulder.. You are well out of agro ranger so no worries.. The area is shaped like a huge star, so just remember where you went down, so you can go back up..

fire opal
# Jun 21 2001 at 8:33 AM Rating: Decent
you can get a fire opal from Genni in the Temple of Solusek Ro off Lavastorm. Hail her and then hand her 550gold or 55plat. she will give you a fire opal.

the special Fire emerald IS quite easy to tell from a regular fire emerald after you give a regular one to the dwarf in Firiona Vie. If you right click it, it is actually called "A 'special' Fire Emerald" and won't stack with any other fire emeralds you mgith have.

Finally, yeah, that fingerbone is a *****. Twice I've gone to kedge with 3 groups, only to have a bad pull of 4 seahorse guardians cause an evac. I think i'm going to have to go the invis potion route.

Quick Tips
# Jun 12 2001 at 2:01 AM Rating: Default
Most of the information for getting the bones is accurate, so I won't bother repeating HOWEVER:

For the Fingerbone in Kedge:
1) Make sure Phinny is dead. On Povar, one guild or another has his spawn timed and kills him shortly thereafter. Hang out at the zone and you WILL see "Phinigel Autropos begins to cast a spell" if he is up. If not after about 5 min, he's dead. However, if you do this right, you will know anyway, cause you WILL bring a ranger along with ya (no druids or bards, you want to be absolutely sure). One trick is to duel outside and go in naked just in case. Do that or not, its up to you. Not a bad idea though. Now, you and a ranger swim invis all the way to the opening to Phinnys room and have the ranger start tracking for "a shimmering sailfin". Contrary to popular belief the Guardians and other seahorses that guard Phinny's room (there are 4 of em) do NOT see through invis. However this little guy does and WILL cause the guards to aggro on you if he sees you. If yer tracker picks up shimmerings from within the room, do NOT go in. Come back another time. If he doesn't then swim in invis and make for the bottom VERY quickly. The bottom of Phinny's lair should be just outside aggro range for the guards, but its close. The bone is sitting on top of a rock on a ledge on the side of the room (neg 150 pos 100 or something like that, pls post a more accurate loc). Stay low and if your invis drops hope you have yer inviser there or potions on you. Once you got the bone get out, yer done, np. =)

As for the final mob, "a tortured revenant," I can only say he is lvl 50ish (blue to me at 51), hits for upwards of 160s and fast and has in the general area of 10,000hps. He is pretty well MR, but the lure line of wiz spells and some upper lvl necro and druid dots did stick. Slow him if possible. I wanted to be sure he dropped so I took 10 lvl 50ish friends with me to kill him. It wasn't much of a problem. Still about a 2 minute fight though.

Heh, Simon's message when the revenant spawns was pretty amusing too. Good luck all, the spell is worth it for free extra dmg and taunt.

I too have been having trouble with Diggs Duggun, until a druid guildmate in wolf form conned him -- she was indifferent. She in turn cast wolf form on me and Diggs conned indifferent to me as well. I hailed him .... he talked to me.. i gave him the items he requested... And I am now a proud owner of a dusty leg. Just thought you all would like to know.... good luck to you all and I hope it works for you too!

The quest is broken on Rodcet Nife also. Diggs Duggun is still Scowls, Ready to Attack to all. I sent a email to eqbugs@verant.com but I dunno if they will do anything about it. This reminds me of the time they made Roror KOS to all in Feerrott... he was for a quest. They changed him back to BetaNeutral so hopefully they will change Diggs Duggun back to whichever faction he was on..

By the way, the proc is a random 75dd, if anyone here has ever played a necro or shadowknight it works much like the spell Vampiric Embrace but it doesn't drain the mobs health.

Well all the posts about Ping Fizzlecutter and the Ping Fuzzlecutter who sells wigs etc outside the gate in West Freeport really confused me. Several posts state that they are two different people. They are NOT, there is only one Ping. His name above his head says Fuzzlecutter but when you say "Tell me about the coffin" to him he says hi my name is Ping Fizzlecutter - with an I. This is just a case of Verant making a typo and not fixing it. I talked to Valeron Dushire (this might be needed to get Ping to talk to you) first then I talked to him and bingo he gave me the bag to combine the gems.
