Diggs Duggun is a dwarf that runs around the maze.

You say, 'Hail, Diggs Duggun'

Diggs Duggun says ''ail, dere! Ain'tcha a sight fer me sore eyes! I knows dat we're strangers an' all, but might I ask a [boon] of ye?'

You say, 'What boon?'

Diggs Duggun says 'Well, me pickaxe is blunted awfully bad and me ale supplies are dangerously low. If'n ye would be kind enough t' get me a new pick and a couple o' bottles o' dwarven ale, I would be f'rever in yer debt.'

Give him a Pick (found at the vendor at the Kaladim Bank) and two Dwarven Ales (not stacked).

Diggs Duggun drinks one of the ales and burps loudly then says 'By Brell's Beard! Yer a lifesaver, ya are! 'ere, take dis bone I've found 'ere in dis maze. Looks human ta me and I'm thinkin that a proper burial is in order. Freeport's the closest place dat has one o Marr's temples. I'm thinkin dis was one o' his Holy Knights by da look o' da tattered tunic I found it wrapped in. I'm thinkin Valeron might be havin an interest in it.'

Receive A Dusty Old Leg Bone.

Now go find a Paladin guildmaster by the name of Valeron Dushire. He is in West Freeport, approximate location -1120, +495, -126 (inside the Hall of Truth, the building in the north-northwest part of West Freeport).

You say, 'Hail, Valeron Dushire'

Valeron Dushire says 'I am Sir Valeron Dushire, leader of the order of the Knights of Truth. If your soul shines with purity and strength, I urge you to join our order. The might of Mithaniel Marr stands behind all who join. Soon that might will help us free this city from the tyranny of the [Freeport Militia].'

Give him the Dusty Old Leg Bone. You must be indifferent or he will simply hand it back.

Valeron Dushire says 'Hail, adventurer! I... what's this? Where did you get this? Never mind.. I.. I never thought we would find [him]!'

You say, 'Who is Diggs Duggun?'

Valeron Dushire says 'According to this crest on the tunic, you have recovered one of the bones of a lost Paladin [Hero].'

You say, 'What hero?'

Valeron Dushire says 'His name has been long lost but his legend lives on in every young knight who aspires to continue his fight. He attempted to quell an evil that resided within Kithicor, perverting nature itself. Much to his relief, it was an earthly foe he fought against and not a denizen summoned from the planes of evil. Then, suddenly, he was surrounded by dozens of dark elves. He was captured and taken to the Dead to be experimented upon and had his soul twisted by vile necromantic magics. Then the Tier'Dal cast his remains to the winds. Where they landed, no one knew, until now. You have found one of his bones. I hereby charge you with a Holy Quest to bring this Hero's bones back for a burial with honors. Do you [accept], knight?'

You say, 'I accept.'

Valeron Dushire says 'Good! I knew you would. It is one of the highest honors one can receive. Your quest will not be easy for I know not where his other bones lay. A spy of ours within Neriak was able to surmise that six of his bones along with his sword and shield were scattered throughout Norrath. You must search far and wide to find the remaining pieces, as you already have one.. Do not give up. It is now your sacred duty. Once you have retrieved all eight pieces, come back to me and inform me that you [have all the bones].'

You now need to collect six bones, a shield, a sword and a coffin. These are the items and locations:

1. A Dusty Old Skull - Minotaur caves in Steamfont in Meldrath's room.

2. A Dusty Old Leg Bone - You received this from talking to Diggs Duggun in Beholder's Maze.

3. A Dusty Ribcage - The Garden in Castle Mistmoore.

4. A Dusty Old Backbone - Ghost Room Pit in Unrest.

5. A Dusty Old Jawbone - Underwater Ice Cave in Everfrost.

6. Dusty Old Finger Bones - Inside Phinigel Autropos's room in Kedge Keep on a rock next to the wall. Exact Location is neg 147, pos 145, neg 251.

7. A Dusty Broken Sword - In the mines of Kaladim in the water.

8. A Dusty Broken Shield - On a ledge on right cliffs in Erudin from the docks.

9. Gem Encrusted Casket is received from Ping Fuzzlecutter as follows:

You say, 'I have all the bones.'

Valeron Dushire says 'Excellent! You are indeed worthy to bear the title of Holy Knight! Now, about the coffin. I have spoken with Ping Fuzzlecutter, outside the western gates. Ask him about the coffin and once it is made, bring it to Simon Aldicott of Marr. I shall have Simon meet you by the lake in the Commonlands after Ping gives you the coffin.'

Go to Ping Fuzzlecutter, outside the gates of West Freeport.

You say, 'What components?'

Ping gives you an Empty Gem Bag to combine the following items:

1. a diamond
2. a star ruby
3. a pearl
4. a fire emerald (you have to buy it from Brisha Fyrestone in Firiona Vie (ask her "What about the special fire emerald") and then give it to her husband to get the correct one -- there are two kinds of fire emeralds out there and this is the one that works)
5. a sapphire
6. a fire opal
7. 2 enchanted platinum bars

Combine the gems in the bag to craft a Full Gem Bag. Give this to Ping to receive a Gem Encrusted Casket.

Ping Fuzzlecutter smiles broadly as he rifles through the bag, then looks up at you and says, 'Bout time! Here is the coffin as promised.'

Put the dusty items in the casket and combine to craft A Gem Encrusted Casket. See Simon Aldicott in the West Commonlands.

You say, 'Hail, Simon Aldicott'

Simon Aldicott says, 'Hail and well met, ______. I am Simon Aldicott, a cleric in the service of Mithaniel Marr. I've been sent here to prepare a [funeral service] for one of our lost to join Marr in his kingdom.'

You say, 'What funeral service?'

Simon Aldicott says, 'Are you the brave knight whom Valeron sent to meet me here? If so, please place the remains in the coffin and seal it. Then hand me the coffin so that we may bless it in the waters of this lake.'

Give him the casket.

Simon Aldicott places the coffin in the water and begins to pray. 'Lord of Valor high above, take this knight, your loyal child, into thy kingdom and... by all that is holy! What is that thing?!'

A Tortured Revenant will spawn and attack you (some thanks eh?). Kill it and loot Revenant Ash (identifies as "Ash of Darak Lightforge").

A Tortured Revenant's corpse says 'At last I can rest..'

Give the Revenant Ash to Simon and he will reward you with your new spell.

Simon Aldicott says, ''Tis a sad thing. His soul was twisted to its current state somehow and he thought YOU were the foul Teir'Dal who destroyed him in the first place. But that is no matter..you have freed him to stand by Marr's side once more! Now, give me the ash so that I may finally put him to rest. In return for your valor I shall provide you with an ancient spell unknown to most Holy Knights of Marr.'

Simon Aldicott says, 'Thank you Knight. With this task accomplished, I shall reward you with this scroll. It is an ancient spell that only the holiest of knights may cast. Remember your duty!'
Your faction standing with Priests of Marr got better.
Your faction standing with The Freeport Militia got worse.
Your faction standing with Knights of Truth got better.

You gain experience!!

Ok... I just completed this pain in the butt quest. (55 Pally)

1) Most of the posts here are on the mark. yay

2) The hardest parts are:

i)Kedge...go in armed to the neck, if Phinney is up you have NO chance. We had 3 groups and almost got wiped. The piece is where they say it is.
ii)The Rev....I almost decided to solo this guy, but at the last moment noticed a guildy mate of mine was on (54 Druid). So I ask her if she wouldn't mind snaring this thing so it would be easier for me to take down. LOLLOLOLOLOL. We ran around like noobs with this crazed skelly nuking and kicking our butts!! She died, ported back and we ran around and eventually zoned on opposite sides of the zone. (I thought I'd lost and the thing would de-spawn). When we came back he was standing at his spawn spot laughing like the evil bastaard he is!! Anyway this went on for like an hour until re-inforcements showed up in the form of lvl 50's-60's (I wasn't taking any chances) War, Monk, War, and Cleric. [My gratitude to the Truthkeepers Guild on E'ci. Needless to say we nailed the bugger in about a minute.

Fear lands 1/5 times don't think about soloing it...it won't happen and if you die....you get to start the quest over....no cool.
Respawned after ash turn in
# Jun 05 2003 at 2:47 AM Rating: Decent
After turning in the ashes and getting the spell, the Tortured Revenant respawned right where he had spawned before! He didn't attack, so I worked up my nerve, and tried to solo him (my party had left after an easy kill--- me, 62 shammy and 52 wizzy).
After a few minutes of futile battle and using my LoH, I tucked my pride between my legs and and ran for the Kithicor zone.
I healed myself up (I was down to 35% health, while A Tortured Revenant was still at 80%) and zoned back in, expecting the Tortured Revenant to have despawned.... he hadn't. I gave up and ran to East Commons, then decided to double back and try again, realizing that the spell was NOT no-drop, and was no doubt worth a FORTUNE if I could get it.
I zoned back in, and again to my surprise, he was STILL up!!! I ran back over, and a curious 48 ranger was making a stab at him. He was giving up after a minute and running for the zone when I sent him a tell, asking him to snare the Tortured Revenant, and I'd beat on his back while the ranger medded up to continue. We worked out a deal for the loot, and the battle commenced. It took about 10 minutes (with a 51 pally and a 48 ranger only), but we killed him, and Simon gave me a SECOND copy of the spell!!! My guess is that this was a game bug, but what do I know???
I'm now selling it on Morrell-Thule for 4k. Send a tell if you're interested!
Solo Last guy?
# Jun 02 2003 at 3:02 PM Rating: Decent
Do you guys think a lvl 62 paladin could solo the last mob that spawns? with my new undead proc and celestial heal (its 700hps healover time casts in 1.5secs 30sec recast time) if i would have enough DPS to keep this guy down i realize magic resistance is nutz so shouldnt waste mana trying to stun or root but would just standing and giving it to him be enough ? Heres my equip if that makes any diff would love some opinions : http://www.magelo.com/eq_view_profile.html?num=397867

Some thoughts on this quest:

I had been putting this quest off for quite some time until last night I decided to go ahead and get it done. The funny thing is (with the exception of Kedge) I had been to each and every one of these zones before and could've picked up the bones ahead of time, but being the shortsighted person I am I had to start it all from scratch.

Collecting the first few bones was cake. The shield in Erudin was a little frustrating until I went a little bit further down the shore and found it on the ledge. I'd also suggest just doing the invis thing into Meldrath's cave since even at 52 he's still a challenge to defeat. I also went ahead and picked up the gem bag from Ping, bought all the necessary gems, combined it and stored it in the bank.

Kedge and Mistmoore were the last two bones to get. I got on a level 16 alt and did some reconnaissance work in Kedge. It's a little confusing in there but with the help of the map from EQ Atlas and lots of /locs I was able to get in and out relatively easily. Three level 60+ peeps were in zone and said that Phinny wasn't up so I took that as a good omen to run the whole mission. In my experience none of the mobs saw through my 16 chanter invis and I was able to locate the bone on top of one of the large boulders on the ledge halfway into the star room. I also took the chanter to the Gorge but Diggs refused to speak to me, so it looks like you have to be a certain level to do this quest (probably 46+).

Feeling emboldened, I took my 52 pally, full armor, lots of buffs, and a few invis potions into Kedge. When I zoned in the other people had left so it suddenly felt really lonely in there (at least when you're busy dying you don't feel so bad when someone can hear you screaming). Taking my chances I swam in, heart racing, and made my way to the bone. Grabbed it and hauled butt outta there. Felt really, REALLY good to be done with that part. (On a side note if you go into Kedge solo like I did, on your way in turn around and see what the room looks like after you go into a new area or swim up through some doorway or passage (take your time!); it'll make leaving less confusing.)

Next was Mistmoore; I invised and went in the front doors of the castle, making my way to the garden easily... but taking a peek around the corner where the fountain is caused an undead mob to see through my invis and attacked. Suddenly I had at least six mobs on me all hitting, casting and lifetapping. After trying to fight it out (and losing) and after having to fire off my LoH I cast a Divine Aura and called train. Several times.

A bit later on (after DA and LoH came back I ventured into the yard again, meeting up with a higher-level pally that knew what I was after and offered to help. In no time we hacked and slashed our way to the fountain and I grabbed the bone. I also forgot that at night there's more undeads in MM, so I would suggest a daytime "invis bone-grab sneak in and out".

On to WC; it was a 52 pally (me), a 53 druid and a 65 chanter. The chanter commented afterward that she only used about 20% mana... the fight lasted a little over a minute, no heals needed (we also made sure to pull the skelly before he had a chance to throw up all his buffs). Most of my stuns landed and the skelly went down pretty easily. Looted the ashes and got my new spell, which is also tradable, btw (not nodrop).

After this I went to CS for a few hours and had the chance to see Divine Might in action. It may not seem like much but 65 points twice or three times in a fight (against live stuff) is an awfully nice thing to see. I don't think the total cost (and risk involved) is quite worth 65 extra points of damage but if you decide to do it anyway you'll be genuinely satisfied when you're done. =)

The bones

Heres a couple bones i had trouble getting, first is kedge keep, mainly cuz its hard to see in there and there can bealot of adds on some floors, if u invis u sould be ok, all the mobs i conned couldnt see invis except in phinnys room, at lvl 51 some of the mobs in phinnys room con white some could see invis others couldnt, u have to swim below the star too which dosent make it easier. i got lucky cuz the mob that i had to swim by couldnt see invis, when u enter the room go to the left along the edge and and u gota swim past a sea horse, it may see invis con it first, right after u swim past the tip of the star swim down past the tip(star as close to the tip as u can sou dont get aggro from see invis mobs)then swim back twords the wall, its there on the rock.

Another one i couldnt find was the Erudin one its on the cliff right off the dock, but way in the back i just didnt go back far enough.

The MM one can be a pain too, u can usually invis almsot all the way there, once in a while u get a see invis mob in the garden and that can be trouble but with high MR u sould be ok.

The ghost pit in unrest is under ground, u gotta go in the front door and take the left hall to the second room, and click the book self to uncover teh hidden passage, once u get to the first area from there go left and head through a wall, after that there is a room with to mushroom gaurds and a pool of redish water do not try and go around it, you will fall into a trap walk through it it is only knee deep.Once you get to a big room with a drop off and one would plank to get around the room just jump off, u can walk across and fight the dark terror(think thats what it was lol) but if he lands a knock back spell on you it will knock u off and youll have half to fight 3 hags and the dark terror and with 100MR at lvl 51 the hags where still landing 160nukes and where hitting from 40-60, when u jump off you will have to fight 3 if u land in the middle lol, the bag sould be right there close to the wall on the bottom floor. As long as you use invis to undead you wont have to worry bout teh haggs adding jsut stay close to the wall to avoid the terrors who are not undead.

The EF one is easy, u only need EB item(or spell) to get to the cave ent after that its nto under water anymore, only thing in here are skellys and an gob here and there, all low lvls, be careful there is one red mob in there(at 51 was red) if u got LoY use the map hes in the big room in the far left corner of the map. just go to loc P4500 and n5300 and its right under the sign there.

Only mob u gotta worry about in the minitor caves is Meldrath him slef he has t2 gaurds that will add on to you and hit you for about 8 and his pet will hit you for about 20 sounds easy but if u ignore them and go straight for meldrath they will bash u while u try to cast spells and he has alot of hp for a green mob lol. and his spells landed for about 100-200 nad he also fears. With a small grorp u can do this no problem if u solo it u might have a problem getting stuns off to stop his casting.

Well that sould be the only ones u might have a prob with, hope that helps, the other ones are easy to get, hardest part of this quest is all the running you gotta do.Haveing a porter with you is key to saving you time, not only will u not have to fight your way back to the ent of these places but they can also invis you and evac u out if u get into alot of adds.Did the most of the quest with just me (51pally) and a 51wizzy

Last part is teh turn ins first u gotta go to WFP and get the bag from Ping Fizzlecutter ask "what components" then go to the guy by the lake in WC and turn in coffin to Simon Aldicott. once u do that the 'A Tortured Revenant' spawn he was DB to me at 51. hits up to 138(thats all it hit me for max, could have missed a few higher) it had high MR since most stuns didnt land and it resisted 2/3 of my undead proc. it also Sheals it self and seems to be kinda hard to interupt, best thing to do is get him slowed and debuffed. all i had was me,wizzy and a uber 65 bard so it didnt take long, but i dont recomend soloing this mob, i dont know what the spell hit for i resisted all that it casted,it has alot of hp since our dps was high and it still didnt wanna die, once the bard landed his slow and debuffs it was easy, and all my stuns started landing. well thats about all i say to help, since we just ran up and attacked, only thing i casted was BSA and insturment of nife. (u might wanna get ageo or HoV if your only taking one friend or going to try and solo it) Good Luck :)

LOL I made it all the way to Phinny's room alone last night. Never been there before. I DON'T like how they have the clip plane for underwater you can't see very far so I had to swim down to see what was down there and got attacked. I just kept spinning and spinning getting hit for 10-500. 500 being some nuke so I died but I'm going back with the guild today to kill them and phinny phinny bo binny

Couple of comments about getting the coffin.

1) Valeron says to go see Ping Fizzlecutter, but his last name is really Fuzzlecutter. No big deal there.

2) When you ask Ping about the coffin.. you must type the 2 "dots" after the word coffin..
"Tell me about the coffin.." gets you the bag to put the gems in.

Couple of comments about the Tortured Revenant.

1) Tough mob. Get a solid party together to take him down easily. You can't have too many ) Ya, you could probably do it with just a few, but think of all the work you did to get this far. You will be surprised at how tough this guy is for a LVL 49 mob.

2) He is Undead, so load up the Dismiss Undead and I of Nife spells. I would have one pally essentially chain stun him, and the other pallies constantly hiting him with Dismiss Undead.

3) His remains are a No Drop "Revenant Ashes".

Good Luck, if you are on the Bristlebane server and need some help taking him down, look me up.

# Jan 17 2003 at 2:16 PM Rating: Decent
Ok, Tried to solo entire quest as a 51 paly. Using posts on this site with the new Alt-tab feature I got to the Tortured Revenant in one sitting. B/C of the post below I thought I would be able to fear kite him, however, the Tortured Revenant that I got resisted 1/5 fears and the ones that landed lasted 3secs max. So I was pretty much screwed. I started kiting him around (had Jboots) and waited for some guild members to show up. We killed him with Me, a Druid, an SK and a Monk all 51+ and he was still very tough.
Had him up for ~45min. And neither him or the quest dude (Simon I think) despawned.

Oh yeah, cost ~750pp in total, all gems bought in FV except 2 that were bought in bazaar. Fire Opal(100p) and Diamond(175pp)

GL

P.S. KK was easy. Larrikan's Mask(Great item) R-click sup.camo. Took 5min. max (My guild did him about an hour before so knew he was down).

Ok I used a tactic no one has discussed yet to kill him with the help of a 51 druid and me being 50 pally. He spawned and immediately i hit him with spook the dead (undead fear spell) and druid snared him. I kept him feared and just beat at his back. This seemed to be a heck of alot easier to me since you take minimal damage. Just keep him snared and feared and you wont have to worry.

Just an addition to help spell things out.
The druid was healing and nuking not just keeping snare up. I'm not recommending you do this alone but rather was suggesting you dont have to have an entire group with you. Also druid and I both had kei but other buffs were just what we had. Skill with divination and dex will help you cast through hits and help them stick. Some spooks did not last long but some lasted normal length of time. And cha is not a factor as i had 100cha and fears were landing about normal for a even con mob.

Hope this clears things up better.

Got the KK piece the other day, took a dru with me and he eb/camoed us both. we swam through the place fine and stopped just before the big room. At that point, there are no wandering agroes, so we rested a sec and I went for the piece. As long as you don't try to swim up around the star-shaped area, you'll be ok. Got back to the dru without an agro, and he ported us out. We didn't want to risk getting confused on the way out.

Oh, and one more tip: Keep your Iksar Monks out of aggro range of Simon Aldicott when you do the final turn in. Even though the scaley fiend is helping a Paladin complete a worthy quest, Simon will still take a dislike to the lizard and whack him for 400 a pop. Fortunately for those who get too close, Feign Death works.

The respawn rate on the Kedge item appears to be 20 minutes. With Phinney down, four of us headed to Kedge to obtain the piece. Shortly after we got there, two guys from another guild came along wanting the same piece. Not a problem. We combined the groups.

The key to a fast respawn rate for the item appears to be to have the first person who loots the item camp (and return) or otherwise leave the zone. I'm not certain that this is necessary, but it doesn't hurt to do, and the item did respawn in 20 or so minutes.

For the final Revenant kill in West Commons, we did it easily with a 62 Paladin, a 53 Shaman, and a 52 Paladin. The Revenant is undead, and vulnerable to Pally spells vs. the undead. The 62 Paladin still had two bubs of health left, and both the 53 Shaman and 52 Paladin were at full health.

This is kinda an obvious statement to make, but with Luclin and Planes of Power now in release, this is a much easier quest to complete, with far more efficient transport and the max level for player characters raised to 65.

So, there you are, you have the coffin and have combined it, and are waiting for everyone (58 necro, 51 cleric, and 55 paladin) to be buffed up, full health, and full mana, and poof, Simon's gone. Now, the quest wording makes it sound like he's a triggered spawn (maybe special version?) from getting the coffin at Ping. Fortunately, he's not. Just go play with the undead in Kith forest till the next morning and he'll be back, ready to accept the combined coffin.

I heard different stories about the level that Diggs gives out the quest. At 47 I have all the bones, sword and shield, still workin on gems though. Can i get the spell at 49? Or do i have to wait?

I was able to solo most of this quest.. let's face it - most of it is cake.

The tricky parts -

- Kedge. Obviously. My hats off to those who have soloed this part, but there was no way I was going to try it. On the Tunare server Phinny is raided within hours of his spawning, so it's not too difficult to sit around KK and find out when he was last raided, and be sure you are there for the next time. Once the seahorses are pulled, and Phinny is dead, simply swim straight out from the ledge, under the star opening, and to the wall. The bones are on the rock there. I didn't have too much trouble finding it.

- The Revenant. He's actually a little tricky.. He's not too difficult, but don't think he's easy for a minute. He hits hardish and fast. And those Divine Might procs will get you a little frazzled. We took him down in about two minutes with a group consisting of a 55 cleric, 52 paladin, 48 ranger, 36 druid and 45 druid. It was overkill, but my guild rocks, so they wanted to come help. I wouldn't try it with anything less than a 50 pally, 45 cleric and a 48+ shaman (or substitute the shaman with a nuker, warrior or rogue).

Also - something I wish I had done much earlier... you can save bankspace by getting the bag from Ping Fizzlecutter at anytime. Once you have all the gems, put them in the bag, and hit combine. It will turn into a pouch that you can store in one slot, instead of 8 in your bank.

Good luck pallies! The spell is quite decent, but note that it does NOT stack with Instrument of Nife.

Invis is the key

Kedge keep is the most heart pounding portion of this adventure. I did not do any research on Kedge and was surprised to know once you zone in there is no relief from water. The entire zone is underwater, this surprise was costly. I went in with the help of a druid friend, we swam in thinking we could surface to gain air. She died by a school of swordfish (go figure). We regrouped and found a guide to help us in. DMF was the best buff in the world. No worries about EB wearing off, and a simple invis from my druid friend and we were off.
We were patient and waited for a group to kill phinni. We swam in looking for this branch to mark the correct portion of the star pit. I spent what seemed like eternity near a section with a branch in it; this proved to be incorrect. There is a rock with a branch sticking out of it 1/2 the way up from the bottom of the pit (this is the rock). I wasted much time down on the bottom of the pit when it was up from the bottom a good distance. So bear in mind there is more then one branch, your looking for the one way up the exterior wall. Good luck, and invis is the key once the main MOB is dead.

I was able to get the mistmoore piece today, I used superior Camo and all mobs from the zone to the garden did not see me ( all conned indifferent). I ran in and picked it up and ran out no problem. Now for the tuff part, getting the bone from Kedge.

My 2 CP
Toughest part like everyone says is Kedge piece and enough has been said about that. It seems a few people have asked about the final part so here is what we did. I hailed Simon and didn't say a thing after that I just gave him the coffin and Darak spawned a little to the left, he looks like your average skellie. To kill Darak we had a 60 Druid, 40 Druid (Thanks for all the porting Abba), 40 Cleric and me a 52 Pally. We absolutly slaughtered him, no contest. Most of my stuns stuck, I proced Instrument of Nife a few times and the 60 Druid (Thanks Orelious) just kept dotting him once I had aggro. He never LOH'ed and if he healed himself, it wasn't for much as the fight lasted only a minute or two. The Cleric (Thanks Clarina) CH'ed me once and I never used my LOH, root also stuck on him. I was also able to interrupt his casting with carefully timed bashes. Big thanks to all my guildies for the help and I hope this helps someone out.
