Diggs Duggun is a dwarf that runs around the maze.

You say, 'Hail, Diggs Duggun'

Diggs Duggun says ''ail, dere! Ain'tcha a sight fer me sore eyes! I knows dat we're strangers an' all, but might I ask a [boon] of ye?'

You say, 'What boon?'

Diggs Duggun says 'Well, me pickaxe is blunted awfully bad and me ale supplies are dangerously low. If'n ye would be kind enough t' get me a new pick and a couple o' bottles o' dwarven ale, I would be f'rever in yer debt.'

Give him a Pick (found at the vendor at the Kaladim Bank) and two Dwarven Ales (not stacked).

Diggs Duggun drinks one of the ales and burps loudly then says 'By Brell's Beard! Yer a lifesaver, ya are! 'ere, take dis bone I've found 'ere in dis maze. Looks human ta me and I'm thinkin that a proper burial is in order. Freeport's the closest place dat has one o Marr's temples. I'm thinkin dis was one o' his Holy Knights by da look o' da tattered tunic I found it wrapped in. I'm thinkin Valeron might be havin an interest in it.'

Receive A Dusty Old Leg Bone.

Now go find a Paladin guildmaster by the name of Valeron Dushire. He is in West Freeport, approximate location -1120, +495, -126 (inside the Hall of Truth, the building in the north-northwest part of West Freeport).

You say, 'Hail, Valeron Dushire'

Valeron Dushire says 'I am Sir Valeron Dushire, leader of the order of the Knights of Truth. If your soul shines with purity and strength, I urge you to join our order. The might of Mithaniel Marr stands behind all who join. Soon that might will help us free this city from the tyranny of the [Freeport Militia].'

Give him the Dusty Old Leg Bone. You must be indifferent or he will simply hand it back.

Valeron Dushire says 'Hail, adventurer! I... what's this? Where did you get this? Never mind.. I.. I never thought we would find [him]!'

You say, 'Who is Diggs Duggun?'

Valeron Dushire says 'According to this crest on the tunic, you have recovered one of the bones of a lost Paladin [Hero].'

You say, 'What hero?'

Valeron Dushire says 'His name has been long lost but his legend lives on in every young knight who aspires to continue his fight. He attempted to quell an evil that resided within Kithicor, perverting nature itself. Much to his relief, it was an earthly foe he fought against and not a denizen summoned from the planes of evil. Then, suddenly, he was surrounded by dozens of dark elves. He was captured and taken to the Dead to be experimented upon and had his soul twisted by vile necromantic magics. Then the Tier'Dal cast his remains to the winds. Where they landed, no one knew, until now. You have found one of his bones. I hereby charge you with a Holy Quest to bring this Hero's bones back for a burial with honors. Do you [accept], knight?'

You say, 'I accept.'

Valeron Dushire says 'Good! I knew you would. It is one of the highest honors one can receive. Your quest will not be easy for I know not where his other bones lay. A spy of ours within Neriak was able to surmise that six of his bones along with his sword and shield were scattered throughout Norrath. You must search far and wide to find the remaining pieces, as you already have one.. Do not give up. It is now your sacred duty. Once you have retrieved all eight pieces, come back to me and inform me that you [have all the bones].'

You now need to collect six bones, a shield, a sword and a coffin. These are the items and locations:

1. A Dusty Old Skull - Minotaur caves in Steamfont in Meldrath's room.

2. A Dusty Old Leg Bone - You received this from talking to Diggs Duggun in Beholder's Maze.

3. A Dusty Ribcage - The Garden in Castle Mistmoore.

4. A Dusty Old Backbone - Ghost Room Pit in Unrest.

5. A Dusty Old Jawbone - Underwater Ice Cave in Everfrost.

6. Dusty Old Finger Bones - Inside Phinigel Autropos's room in Kedge Keep on a rock next to the wall. Exact Location is neg 147, pos 145, neg 251.

7. A Dusty Broken Sword - In the mines of Kaladim in the water.

8. A Dusty Broken Shield - On a ledge on right cliffs in Erudin from the docks.

9. Gem Encrusted Casket is received from Ping Fuzzlecutter as follows:

You say, 'I have all the bones.'

Valeron Dushire says 'Excellent! You are indeed worthy to bear the title of Holy Knight! Now, about the coffin. I have spoken with Ping Fuzzlecutter, outside the western gates. Ask him about the coffin and once it is made, bring it to Simon Aldicott of Marr. I shall have Simon meet you by the lake in the Commonlands after Ping gives you the coffin.'

Go to Ping Fuzzlecutter, outside the gates of West Freeport.

You say, 'What components?'

Ping gives you an Empty Gem Bag to combine the following items:

1. a diamond
2. a star ruby
3. a pearl
4. a fire emerald (you have to buy it from Brisha Fyrestone in Firiona Vie (ask her "What about the special fire emerald") and then give it to her husband to get the correct one -- there are two kinds of fire emeralds out there and this is the one that works)
5. a sapphire
6. a fire opal
7. 2 enchanted platinum bars

Combine the gems in the bag to craft a Full Gem Bag. Give this to Ping to receive a Gem Encrusted Casket.

Ping Fuzzlecutter smiles broadly as he rifles through the bag, then looks up at you and says, 'Bout time! Here is the coffin as promised.'

Put the dusty items in the casket and combine to craft A Gem Encrusted Casket. See Simon Aldicott in the West Commonlands.

You say, 'Hail, Simon Aldicott'

Simon Aldicott says, 'Hail and well met, ______. I am Simon Aldicott, a cleric in the service of Mithaniel Marr. I've been sent here to prepare a [funeral service] for one of our lost to join Marr in his kingdom.'

You say, 'What funeral service?'

Simon Aldicott says, 'Are you the brave knight whom Valeron sent to meet me here? If so, please place the remains in the coffin and seal it. Then hand me the coffin so that we may bless it in the waters of this lake.'

Give him the casket.

Simon Aldicott places the coffin in the water and begins to pray. 'Lord of Valor high above, take this knight, your loyal child, into thy kingdom and... by all that is holy! What is that thing?!'

A Tortured Revenant will spawn and attack you (some thanks eh?). Kill it and loot Revenant Ash (identifies as "Ash of Darak Lightforge").

A Tortured Revenant's corpse says 'At last I can rest..'

Give the Revenant Ash to Simon and he will reward you with your new spell.

Simon Aldicott says, ''Tis a sad thing. His soul was twisted to its current state somehow and he thought YOU were the foul Teir'Dal who destroyed him in the first place. But that is no matter..you have freed him to stand by Marr's side once more! Now, give me the ash so that I may finally put him to rest. In return for your valor I shall provide you with an ancient spell unknown to most Holy Knights of Marr.'

Simon Aldicott says, 'Thank you Knight. With this task accomplished, I shall reward you with this scroll. It is an ancient spell that only the holiest of knights may cast. Remember your duty!'
Your faction standing with Priests of Marr got better.
Your faction standing with The Freeport Militia got worse.
Your faction standing with Knights of Truth got better.

You gain experience!!

The ribcage

for anyone who is having trouble finding it, is in the room that is off the garden with the pool in it. Its near the bush in the right corner if you face into the room and turn right.

Ok so this is gonna be all the items, from the Ribcage on...

Backbone

Is in the pit below the broken bridge, there is a secret wall near the opposite stairs you come down into the main basement thats marked on the EQatlas Map. follow it till you find the bridge then jump and have fun with the mobs. ^_^

Jawbone

As its been posted before Ill just elaborate, hug the right wall as you come in and follow it until you find the first sign. The sign will come on your left.

Fingerbones

Is somewhere to the left when you walk into Phinnys room, its on the bottom somewhere or near it, be *VERY* careful of the sea horses there they are evilly MR...shammy was able to get a baby slow to land and DoTs but not much else, I couldnt get anything but tash to land.

Soloing Kedge Keep and Phinny...
# Jul 20 2004 at 11:12 PM Rating: Excellent
The most exciting thing I did during this quest, was the mission to retrieve the Dusty Old Finger bones from Phinigel Autropos's room.

My Paladin, Tristar was 52nd level during this Quest. The first time I went there on this quest, I soloed and fought my way there, just taking my time. The tunnels were my safe areas and the only dangers were in each room. So I just cast Calm on possible adds and single-pulled the mobs into the tunnels. Experience points were pretty good. I used one invisibity potion to get past the Patriarch in the room with the secret door in the Plant Base. I positioned myself over the spot where the ground spawn was to be, and looked down from the ledge. There, down below, the Swirlspine Seahorses could see me, even though I was invisible. I apparently got too close to the edge of the drop-off and was immediately attacked by 3 or more Seahorses. They affected me with their special attack which caused me to spin, uncontrollably, and I never even got a chance to finish swallowing my gate potion. Had I thought fast enough, I might have been able to get off my Divine Aura spell, long enough to grab the groundspawn. I would still have died, but at least the groundspawn would have been on my corpse...

The next day, I showed up with one more item in my inventory... bound and determined to complete this mission entirely solo, I purchased an instant-cast gate potion, which would be ready should I be attacked again by the Seahorses and perhaps even worse... Phinigel Autropos...

Knowing my way around well in Kedge Keep, from soloing there previously the night before, I only needed a single invisiblity potion to get to Phinny's lair, still guarded by the Swirlspine Seahorses, who still, frighteningly enough, could see me clearly. The darkness in the midst of the room, hid something far more menacing, lurking in the dark depths of the water...

I immediately cast Divine Aura to prevent any harm to myself and plunged myself into the darkness of the star-shaped opening below. Locating the niche in the wall with the boulder in it, I barely found the bones just in time; for my Divine Aura had dropped, and the Seahorses had already begun their foul whirlpools which spun me round and round. Their master, Phinigel, had joined them in what would seem to be another slaughter of a human being, and it would have been so, were it not for a small potion bottle in my hand which was swallowed in the blinking of an eye, whereupon, I was gated to the familiar surroundings of the Plane of Knowledge!

Two bulbs of health left, and my heart still pounding, I had arrived with what I had come for, the last item to go into the Gem Encrusted Casket, Dusty Old Fingerbones. Which, of course I stood confused, thinking to myself, dusty fingerbones? Underwater? hmmm : )

I went with a few guildees of mine! a 64 druid a
53 pally and me 58 or 57 at the time! I was waqtching the chat on the server wide flags channel and noticed tha phinny was killed which was a good and a bad thing! The bad thing is that most people do not like going down there unless phinny is up lots of epics need him dead. so no help form them! The good thing is we wouldn't have to deal with him!! So i asked in guild chat and had some luck getting help! the pally knew his way around there nad we esy to get there! the druid was great he inviesed us all and gave us all enfuring breath!! we did not fight anything! no need to just go to phinny and be fast about it! We all heard about the seahorses seeing us even if we where invisable. bu ti guess it was or lucky day he didnt. there was only one to dea with as well!.. we looted the frist bone invis droipped then the seahorse jumped on us. i started to tankthe seahorse took some fdamage and got the crazy spell casted on me. the one the spinns you round and round fun times! This gve enough time for the druid to succor us!! off we did this step again waiting for the bone to spawn again!! we did got the second bone and evac allthe way home. we then had the druid take us to the final turn in. the guy is easy. Undead how hard can it be thje druid nuked us 2 pallies went to town on him dead no worries!! the next day it was just the pally and i and we took Tortured Revenant no p[roblem again!

I must say this is a great quest. Getting the bone from phinnys room has to be the hardest part. Take a druid or a other evac class.

So take the time it took me forever to get this spell! But i love it 65 pionts dmg is 65 points and a zero stun woot. it procs like crazt with the right dex!!

know if i could just finsh my epic and stqart on redemption lol!

I know things here tend to get buried - 8 pages of threads as of this posting, and while I thought I read them all I still had some trouble.

Somethings I just didnt notice though I do see they are listed here now. For instance a few posts down Tireasis speaks of the secret door on the way to Phinny's chamber. I must have sat in that room looking at the maps for half an hour before I figured that out. As Tireasis sayes it is a 'large rectangular plant stand' and it is actually a door. I wish I had spotted his post when I was reading up on this quest.

The hardest ground spawn to get for me was of course the one in Phinny's chamber. I swear there was a see invis mermaid on the way, but perhaps my invis just dropped twice in the exact same spot. In any event once I killed her I had no additional trouble with invis dropping at the wrong time. There are many 'safe' places along the way to re-invis.

Once in Phinny's room one of the see invis horses was up and I had a hard time finding the bone. I managed to swim down easily without the see invis mob getting me, but the loc and descriptions just werent helping me. Eventually I sawm to close to see invis horse and got killed. I logged in my main, killed the see invis horse and then scouted around until I found it.

The bone is down in phinny's chamber itself. When you come off the ledge and swim down the it is to your left. So, swim down, turn 90 degrees to your left and look for a rock, the bone is on top of that rock.

I looted it with my main, camped for the night and then the next day got up to get it with my pally (I figured if the spell was indeed tradeable I might as well do it twice in case someone else I knew needed it). In the morning Phinny was of coruse up. She is on a 12 hour time from what I understand. I figured this might be the case and was pondering taking phinny on myself when a few others showed up wanting her for thier epics. We killed her (I would have died had I tried it alone that was obvious from the fight) and then I was able to loot the piece easily with my pally.

I thought the description of the 'special fire emerald' above was lacking until I actually did it, it was actually very accurate and correct. Just buy a fire emerald off Brisha Firestone and hand it to her husband who stands right next to her. I found it odd that the resulting special fire ememerld was listed as useable in tradeskills. While I suppose you are using it in a combine, the bag you use is hardly a standard tradeskill container. Plus of course, if that is the criteria, being combineable in a container for the tradeskill tag, then all the bones should likewise be marked 'useable in tradeskill' and they are not. I might pick another up when I redo this quest with my main just to play with.

I had no trobule with the combine(s) though I see several people below saying they thought the quest was broken.

I did the dialog in North Freeport with the Pally GM. I do think this text is optional, but I was enjoying the story line so I did it anyway.

The tortured revenant was not a push over for his level. I could not have easily soloed him with my 52 pally and I wouldnt recommend trying. My advice is not to get cocky, now if your time equipped - you dont need my advice, go away. If you are a 'normal pally' for this quest then take a friend two and you will be fine. He did proc divine might - which I enjoyed. He did cast flame of light. He hit about 130's and was slowable. Fun mob. I wish I had captured the text form simon and thought to hail him after the fight - I will try to remember next time.

The spell IS tradeable. Which surprised me.

Have fun, good quest, only trouble I had was that bone in Phinny's room and it wasnt tooo bad. I can find my way to phinny's chamber now in my sleep.

Really enjoyed the quest. It was fun going back to some of my old hunting grounds. The post about the greenies in MM was absolutely correct and I ran into some DB inside (got a nice ring with a necro enchantment on it though). Make sure you select the dusty jawbone link above before you go into the underwater entrance cave in Everfrost; I ran around for an hour until I came back here and found out where it was located. Simon was up in the daytime, didn't have an issue with that. Went duo on the revenant with a 53 Cleric - she was OOM when it was still at 33% - popped LoH when I was at 23% and got it to turn and run. Great battle, thanks to all that posted before for the help.

Finally finished this one today. The hardest part was Kedge Keep for me. The seahorse's kept seeing through my invis. I decided to leave all my gear at the bank and go in Kedge Keep completed Naked - just in case I got killed. I didn't die and found the bag pretty quickly - way down inside the star. Then we went and took out the Revenant. Me a lvl 50 pally and a lvl 51 bard. Took him down without too much trouble, I did have to lay hands and use my Etheral Cleansing spell about 12 times to stay alive. Not too bad, though the spell isn't that great - it is definitely better than nothing at all.

One item of note in Kedge Keep is finding your way from the Seahorse Patriarch room to Phinigel Autropos' room. The North East corner has what looks like a large rectangular plant stand (yes, there is a plant coming out of the top). This is actually a secret door that when touched, opens and allows tunnel passage to Phinigel Autropos' room. Several maps I've looked at and even the in-game map do not show this secret. The maps show this to be an open passage with no marked secret openings.

Its probably an obvious thing if you raid Kedge Keep often but it will good for those of you first encountering this route. It drove me mad for a bit until I touched it and there it was, open passage! Just my 2cp worth. I hope this report helps you in your quest!

Tried this quest on and off for last 2 days. Was able to get gem w/no problem from enchanter I assisted with. Formed small raid to go to Phinny room, was going to try for Phinny but he wasn't up.

Coffin is still broke and GM says "sorry for any inconivence this has caused and ASSURES that this will be fixed VERY soon." (Hopes not to come back here in a year to see that this is still broke)

Time for dusty bones to get more dusty in my inventory.

Yeah.. I spoke with a GM on Luclin Server.. he said "This is a known issue and we are aware of it. I apologize for any inconvienence this may be causing you"

When I asked for ETA for a fix.. he said there was none at this time. I wonder when this Casket combine broke... well.. maybe we will get this spell one day... everyone knows a pally needs that spell for a decent proc. Do you think the Berserkers are trying to conspire against with the SK's???? We will soon find out I hope.

I literally just collected all of the items.. the hardest one was the one in unrest since both invis and invis vs undead were needed.. so I had to clear way to the spot..

HOWEVER.. I'm a 51pally.. and the Seahorse Near Phinny DID NOT see invis... Phinny was not up... so I was easily able to swim down and collect the item. I brought along a several invis potions, a 61cleric, and a 63 enchanter just in case. Nothing was needed but the enchanters invis spell.

I completed this quest yesterday, and in all honesty it's not as hard as you may think. With alot of Invis potions, an Enduring Breathe item and a few pp to buy the various gems, you can get all the items yourself. (but will need a chanter to enchant two platinum bars).

Kedge Keep:

The hardest bit as previous posts mention is the fingerbone item in Kedge Keep (Phinneys room). Aslong as you have EB, and Phinney isn't up and invis holds though, is not too bad. The annoying thing I found was that theres alot of up and down tunnels to find your way to the star shaped room where the item is. Even with a map it took a while. There is a point where you'll enter a square room where it appears there are no other exits other than the way you came in- click the large, dark block in the corner of the room and it iwll move, providing the way to Phinneys room. Alot of posts mention the Seahorses see through invis- with me they didn't- I conned them and they were indifferent. Though apparantly one can see through invis (maybe i was lucky?!) The item is on a ledge deep down in the center-ish of the star room, and the seahorse mobs are around the side. The exact loc is in the link above for dusty fingerbone.

Unrest:

The item here is in the Basement near an undead dorf, NOT by the dorf on the ground floor (same lvl as you enter the building). To get to the basement you need to click the bookcase in the far left room of the house, which is on the ground floor. and follow steps down as far as you can. Theres a room with a red pit circular in shap in the middle of the room, with wolfbat mobs around the outside and skellies. Note: the wolfbats see through 'invis vs undead', but they aren't very hard at 50ish anyway. from this room you stick to the left wall, down stairs and up the satirs opposite and walk straight forward through the wall into the secret passage which takes you to the basement where the item is. The dorf here conned Light Blue to me at lvl 52. The item is at the very bottom on the side, near a ladder.

Tortured Reverant:

Ths final mob wasn't as hard as I thought, but I did have some help. Myself (52 pally) 52 Shammy, 52 Necro and 49 Ranger (all with kei) took him down very quickly. He spawns straight after hand in and can instantly cast Valor on himself. We attacked straight before he aggroed. I had self buffs and the 52 Shammy buffs on- about 3600hps an i was on 85% when he died and with almost full mana. As with most mobs, Magic Resist was very useful as he can 'fear'. My MR unbuffed was 137 at the time and none of his spells successfully hit.

All of the items except the shield and sword look like typical littel brown bags.

I waited a long time to se if the spell would be in Bazaar but I'm not sure if it is No Drop or not now (in the excitement i forgot to check before putting it in my spell book). The spell is definately worth getting as it proc on any mob and the extra damage is definately very handy! It also requires you to visit quite a few places in Norrath that you may not have seen before :)

Thanks to Klik, Cromicon and Rivas for the help with the Reverant! :)

Hope some of this helps!

Even if the Seahorses see invis if you 'float' down through the Southeast/Southwest point of the 'star' the seahorses in the adjacent 'points' do not see you ir you stay as close to the floor/ then point tip of star/ then roof until at the wall then just swim to the southern most aspect of the lower room.
Enchanted Platinum Bars?

I did this quest and I don't ever recall having to use enchanted platinum bars. I'm helping a friend get his divine might spell and I was just curious if you indeed need to enchant the 2 platinum bars. Can anyone confirm that one, in fact, must get them enchanted in order to complet this quest? I really appreciate it.
