"an undead foreman" may be found at +2385, +3305.

You say, 'Hail, an undead foreman'

an undead foreman turns to face you. You can see a faint green glow emanating from his vacant eye sockets. 'Are you a [new worker]? Huh? Speak or go!!'

You say, 'I am a new worker.'

an undead foreman says 'Hmmph!! Too much flesh!! If you want to work, you must first fill my eye sockets with my favorite gem. This shall be your payment for your Sledgehammer.'

His favorite gem is jade. Give him a Jade.

an undead foreman places the gem deep into his hollow eye socket. He pulls a giant sledgehammer from thin air and hands it to you. 'Here!! You shall be assigned to the lower decks of the Scaled Trident.'

You receive a Worker Sledgemallet and no experience, faction hits, or coin.

Not so easy after all
# Mar 24 2001 at 9:03 PM Rating: Default
This quest may seem very easy, but the fact that you need to have a warm Venryl Satyr faction to be able to get the Worker Sledgemallet makes it not so easy at all.

You need to do the "Protect the Shipyard" quest and hand in braids for a long time before you'll be able to raise your faction high enough.
#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 01 2001 at 3:42 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Or..hunt in HS so long your faction rolls over from KoS to Warmly.

Faction no longer rolls over.... it'll hit "your faction with VenrilSathir could not possibly get any worse" and no more.

where does it put you?
# Feb 20 2001 at 4:07 PM Rating: Decent
where does the gate drop you in ot? is it a ways from the outpost, so i can go back to kc? and can anyone confirm if it has 1 charge or infinite?
RE: where does it put you?
# Mar 19 2001 at 2:37 PM Rating: Excellent
It puts you on one of the ships that are being built, down below from where the foreman stands.

As far as I know, it can be used over and over again.
Minor Illusion
# Dec 13 2000 at 8:17 AM Rating: Decent
As a dark elf enchanter I cast minor illusion and automatically became amiable to the undead foreman, gave the jade and got the hammer. I must say that at level 9 there was no reason to travel overthere (no pun intended) to get the hammer, but it looks cool.

Easy for chanters!!
# Dec 04 2000 at 9:57 PM Rating: Default
Level 33 enchanter here. Used illusion DE to get into Overthere. Once I found undead foreman I switched to illusion skelly, took me to indifferent. I cast Benevolence on him. He thought we were drinking buddies. Begged me to take the hammer.

I got my hammer without turning in a single warbraid. I can't use it until 50 but I can kill my VS faction now. My hammer is safely in the bank. Now all you enchanters go get one!!
Bad Faction, but..

Questions:

1) I have bad faction with VS and am KOS to Overthere. Is there any charm spells or any items that could make the quest doable to a KOS Ogre Shadowknight?

(Think Illusion:Dark elf, 60th level Enchanter charm...etc.) Any of that stuff work?

2) If it did work, and I managed to acquire a hammer, would I be gated to a place where I would be immediately killed?

Please answer with facts, not theories. I'm espically interested if you have managed to "cheat" the faction and get one anyways. I'm a shadowknight with Jboots so even if I get beamed into hostile territory, I can FD and Run, so this item interests me alot.
probably not :(
# Nov 28 2000 at 10:53 AM Rating: Default
IF you do need to be amiable for it to work, then no having someone charm it for you won't work. other peoples pets con indiff :(
but if you can charm him your self you're in luck.. I believe cazic thule drops some all usable charm item with a few charges?

Theoretically, you could get wolf-form and be indifferent. So, I say collect like 20 war braids, get wolf form, and go turn em in for faction. If you get to amiable+ in wolf-form, you could get the hammer. Just a thought, im gonna try it tonight some time.
RE: possibility
# Jul 29 2001 at 4:17 PM Rating: Default
Hate to burst your bubble, but it will take a tad bit more than 20 braids to go from indifferent to amiable.
RE: possibility
# Apr 16 2001 at 7:06 PM Rating: Good
The Dragoons in the Overthere don't like people in wolf form. My ogre SK got wasted by a goon while I was in wolf form and I normally con amiable to them. Go near any of the NPC's at the outpost in wolf form and you will be killed.
Call of Bones
# Oct 29 2000 at 12:31 AM Rating: Default
I was bored in Overthere waiting for a friend to meet me and was playing around with COB and noticed i went from indif to amiably on everything (well, didn con merchants or the goons so be warned heh). So if your a necro or have a skeleton illusion this can help!
The best thing about this hammer..
# Oct 13 2000 at 8:44 PM Rating: Decent
For evil people who are done fighting somewhere say like, Sebilis, but want to bank and gate back, they can duel someone, and beat on them with this hammer until it procs, then bank and sell in The Overthere and gate back, truly a time-saver for such an easy quest, everyone 50+ should have one, oh and another thing, this hammer looks DEADLY hehe, same model as the Truncheon of Doom I believe, so quit reading this and GO GET ONE!

Only one caveat for those even amiable in the OT outpost: Merchants in the OT outpost price gouge. Everything there costs twice as much, and they only buy from you at half the normal prices of other merchants... so if you have 500pp in loot and sell it in the OT outpost, you will only make 250pp for your effort.

It's great for banking, though.. and in a pinch I will sell there, if money isn't as important to me that day.

I have a question about the effect itself. Does it cast instantly, or can it be interupted? Does it proc fairly often during fighting?
RE: The best thing about this hammer..
# Feb 12 2001 at 4:14 AM Rating: Decent
It should only proc once.. once it procs you see "Loading, please wait..."

As for the proc rate.. it's a 50dly weapon, so take a while to proc.. also depends on your dex...
Faction?
# Oct 09 2000 at 7:23 PM Rating: Default
What does your faction have to be and whats a easyer way to fix faction other then war braids quest?

Better faction for Venril Sathir? Go kill level 60+ dragons ;) Esorpa of the Ring, Faydedar, Gorenaire, Phara Dar, Talendor, and Xygoz are the only mobs in the game (so far) that you can kill to raise it.
Maximum level is not for quest
# Sep 17 2000 at 2:21 PM Rating: Default
I got the hammer at around level 41 or so, the hammer will not proc and a GM said it would be fixed in the next patch. I'd not be surprised if this GM was unaware of the possibility that this item is not supposed to proc until level 50 though. It may be a bug that allows us to get the hammer before level 50 in the first place.

There's nothing that says you can't get an item before it will proc for you.
Where *exactly* do you port
# Sep 16 2000 at 3:25 PM Rating: Default
Where does the proc land you in the Overthere? Is it square in the middle of the dark classes/races outpost? Or is it elsewhere in the zone?
RE: Where *exactly* do you port

on the second floor of the unfinished ship in the yard underneath the skeletal worker

If your faction is bad, do you get attacked, or do you have time to use invis vs undead?
RE: Where *exactly* do you port
# Feb 12 2001 at 4:11 AM Rating: Decent
If your faction is bad, there is no way to get the hammer in the first place...
RE: Where *exactly* do you port
# Feb 14 2001 at 4:42 PM Rating: Default
Wrong. Like a previous post says. COB takes you to amiable.
RE: Where *exactly* do you port
# Mar 09 2001 at 8:28 PM Rating: Default
I guess they nerfed this then because I am standing in front of the Foreman as I type this and neither Lich nor Call of Bones alters my faction whatsoever. I am indifferent to them with or without either spell.
RE: Where *exactly* do you port
# Mar 14 2001 at 6:12 PM Rating: Decent
Correct .. All Skeleton illusions no longer alter your faction.

However, the question about faction is a good one. You can get the hammer once you get amiable, after a couple runs in select Kunark dungeons, you will be KoS to the Outpost.

all you need to do is buy a jade from the jeweler in the tin merchant place, give it to the foreman with amiable or better faction and he will give you the Worker Sledgemallet, the stats suck, 6/50, 2hb, lore, no drop. but it does have 1 charge of Overthere, which is a proc. only thing is it doesnt work until lvl 50
Hammer?
# Sep 01 2000 at 7:51 PM Rating: Decent
Can anyone tell me the name of the hammer, and it's stats? Any other info would be nice, such as whether or not it's a no-drop, or lore. Also, I'm looked at indifferently, so will Amiably do it, or must I have better faction than that?
Easy...
# Jul 18 2000 at 12:37 PM Rating: Decent
The Jade randomly drops as a rare off anything in The Overthere. Easy to get and complete the quest. I'm only level 40 so it's going to be a while before I can say anything about the effect...
RE: Easy...
# Oct 10 2000 at 4:30 PM Rating: Default
hehe buy if from the merchant closest to the door in the overthere shop.
