Call of the Forsaken Info & Guides: Overview | Progression & Task List | Raiding | Visible Armor

About Heroic Adventures

- Heroic adventures in Call of the Forsaken scale in level: As low as Level 75 and up to current maximum level.
- Scale is based on the highest level player present in the zone and affects difficulty, loot quality, and mob levels.
- There is some variation/randomization in the task steps you'll be assigned as you progress through the task.
- Time of completion will vary by your group's makeup (anywhere from 30-90+ minutes).
- Collection items appear as ground spawns midway through tasks (you'll see an emote indicating their appearance).
- Named mobs (or their PHs) spawn midway through tasks (usually, but always, at the same time collection items appear).
- These tasks have individual 3-hour lockout timers (timer gained upon completion).

Experience in Heroic Adventures

- Mobs in these instances grant some experience, but the bulk of experience is earned upon task completion.
- As of a patch in November 2014, less difficult tasks were tuned to reward less experience and more difficult ones were tuned to reward more.
- For an added experience bonus, check out Clayton Teek's "Daily Tasks".

TASK IN DETAIL

TRIGGERING THE TASK

You say, 'Hail, Brother Estle'

Brother Estle shakes his head as he surveys the devastation. 'When I first came to minister to the people of West Karana, I never thought this would be their fate. I imagined I would carry the message of the Prime Healer to all the people and bring peace to their souls. I imagined these lands would prosper and that my brothers and I would establish a new temple that would be the spiritual foundation of the Karanas. But when the light of [reality] shines, imagination often withers like shadows in the noonday sun .'

You say, 'What reality?'

Brother Estle says 'Who can say what shadow plays of imagination will foretell the future? The first act in my mind's theatre never showed to me the betrayal by my brother, Trintle. His spirit having been fouled by the cult of Bertoxxulous in the sewers below Qeynos, he attacked me one night on the road. Were it not for the help of a passing adventurer much like you, my body would have been as broken as these lands are now. Instead, Trintle went to his grave, and Chintle and I thought long about whether to abandon our mission and return to the temple. We decided the souls of the people were more important than our anguish at the loss of our brother. We thought our [vision] was still possible.'

You say, 'What vision?'

Brother Estle says 'Now I can see how naive it was. The play has become a tragedy.' Brother Estle sighs. 'The old visions are unwelcome. I can think of nothing lofty. What is left to me now is worry and duty. As a healer, I must attend to the injured. If I lose their bodies, I will also lose their souls. If only [Brother Chintle] were here to aid me in such an impossible task.'

You say, 'Brother Chintle?'

Brother Estle says 'He was always even more naive than I. He could never accept that Brother Trintle's evil was not some sort of possession or mind control, just as he could not accept that such an enormous calamity could fall upon West Karana apart from the wrath of some evil spirit or god. Shortly after the tragedy occurred, Chintle began speaking of visions -- visions of Brother Trintle and the truth behind what happened here. He ran off in the night, and I have not seen him since. I fear for his safety and sanity, but now my [task] has doubled in difficulty without him. I cannot search for him when there is so much suffering with which I must contend.'

You say, 'Task?'

Brother Estle says 'You have given much aid to this village thus far. I thank you for that. Now that the area has stabilized, we must look for Brother Chintle in earnest. Will you [help]?'

You say, 'I'll help'

Brother Estle says 'Thank you, _____. [Go] and prepare. Speak to me when you are ready.'

You have been assigned the task 'Remember the Dead'.

In this brief respite between attacks from spirits and the Harrowing Horde, Brother Estle wants you to find Brother Chintle and bring him back. This missing brother must know something about the recent attacks and plans of the Horde.

You say, 'Let's go'

Brother Estle says 'We shall yet rise above this tragedy, _____.'

LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
You have entered Ethernere Tainted West Karana.

Step #1

  • Speak with Brother Estle 0/1 (Ethernere Tainted West Karana)

Task Window Says: Now that the Harrowing Horde has slackened their attacks against the village, speak with Brother Estle about the whereabouts of Brother Chintle.

If You Get This Step: Hail update.

    Step #2

  • Ask the villagers if they have seen Brother Chintle 0/5 (Ethernere Tainted West Karana)

Task Window Says: Brother Estle said you should ask people in the village whether they have seen Brother Chintle recently.

If You Get This Step: Hail updates.

Frodolis Clemwyne says 'Don't speak his name! He talks to the dead and will lead us all to the grave!'

Helmard Lasswain says 'I heard Brother Chintle made a home in the trees and only comes down at night to steal our food!'

Herkila Lenson says 'Brother Chintle? I haven't seen him since shortly after the disaster. He was wandering near the southern hills.'

    Step #3

  • Investigate the last reported areas of Brother Chintle's whereabouts 0/10 (Ethernere Tainted West Karana)

Task Window Says: The villagers have given you clues about various places Brother Chintle could be. You should investigate the locations of various sightings.

If You Get This Step: Around the village are five smoke auras spawn (findable via CTRL+F). Step into an aura to spawn 1-3 ambush mobs (hit for a max ~6,000). Stepping into the auras and mob kills contribute to this update.

    =====================

  • Follow Guide Jornlin to the spots she says Brother Chintle might be located 0/6 (Ethernere Tainted West Karana)

Task Window Says: Someone has come forward and claims to have recently seen Brother Chintle. Speak with them and find out where he has gone.

If You Get This Step: Hail Guide Jornlin and follow her into the tunnels. In the tunnels will be three auras. Step into an aura to spawn an ambush of mobs. The first aura spawns two mobs; the second aura spawns three mobs. These mobs hit for a max ~6,500 and are rootable/snareable, but summon. In the last aura, Guide Jornlin aggro's and must be killed.

    Step #4

  • Speak with Brother Estle 0/1 (Ethernere Tainted West Karana)

Task Window Says: The spirits of the dead have confounded your efforts to find Brother Chintle. Tell Brother Estle of your failure.

If You Get This Step: Hail update.

    You say, 'Hail, Brother Estle'

Brother Estle says 'It seems the Horde and the spirits of the dead are still active: all the more reason to find Brother Chintle as quickly as we can.'

Brother Estle says 'A moment ago, Rillaia Stalsor told me there has been news about Brother Chintle's whereabouts. I wonder if it is true...'

    Step #5

  • Speak with the person who just saw Brother Chintle 0/1 (Ethernere Tainted West Karana)

Task Window Says: Speak with the person who just saw Brother Chintle.

If You Get This Step: Hail villagers until you get an update.

If the next step involves the bandit wall, you see:

Rillaia Stalsor says 'I saw Brother Chintle wander into the bandit camp to the east of the village. The bandits have since erected a wall and defend their camp from any intruders. I doubt anyone could get in there except by killing the guards and destroying the wall. If you manage to get in there, you should interrogate someone about Brother Chintle's whereabouts.'

If the next step involves a sleeping bandit, you see:

    ??

If the next step involves the bandit leader, you see:

    ??

    Step #6

  • Break through the bandits' barrier and find whether Brother Chintle is in the camp 0/1 (Ethernere Tainted West Karana)

Task Window Says: Brother Chintle was last seen entering the bandit camp to the east of the village. The bandits have erected a high wall to keep out invaders. You will need to destroy the wall to get inside. Interrogate any frightened bandits you find.

If You Get This Step: Destroy the "Bandit Wall" near /loc 280, -2075, -100. Note that for purposes of DPS, this is an invisible man in the front/center of the wall, with a small hitbox. Upon attacking it (and every 25 seconds thereafter), 1x "a wall defender" spawn and attack. These mobs hit for a max ~4,000 and have a relatively small amount of hitpoints. Once the wall is killed, head to the end of the bandit camp where you'll find "a frightened bandit". Hail it to update the step.

You say, 'Hail, a frightened bandit'

a frightened bandit says 'Don't kill me! Don't kill me! I'll talk... Brother Chintle came here a few days ago, stole one of our shovels, and ran off toward the village to the south. Lieutenant Rolth might know more. Just don't kill me! I talked! I did good!'

    =====================

  • Infiltrate the sleeping bandit camp bring written clues of Brother Chintle's location to Brother Estle 0/1 (Ethernere Tainted West Karana)

Task Window Says: Brother Chintle was last seen entering the bandit camp to the east of the village. After sleeping until nightfall, you can sneak into the bandit camp and look for clues to Brother Chintle's whereabouts. Perhaps the bandits keep a logbook lying around that details the events that happen in their camp

If You Get This Step: Head to the bandit area around /loc 280, -2075, -100 and find "Bandit's Log", a ground spawn at about 615, -1735, -100, give the logbook to Brother Estle.

    =====================

  • Confront the bandit leader and find out where Brother Chintle is 0/1 (Ethernere Tainted West Karana)

    Task Window Says: ?

If You Get This Step: In the bandit area, DPS "Ladric the Fancy" (spawns an add at 70%, 40%, and 20% health); task updates at 10% health.

    Step #7

  • Speak with Brother Estle about what you discovered in the bandit camp 0/1 (Ethernere Tainted West Karana)

Task Window Says: Speak with Brother Estle about what you discovered in the bandit camp

If You Get This Step: Hail update (Brother Estle is now closer to the bandit camp).

If the next step involves bandit burrowers, you see:

Brother Estle says 'So Brother Chintle has traveled to the southern village... I would have you hasten there immediately if you had not stirred up so much trouble at the bandit camp! We recently received a shipment of defensive knives from the guard camp, and now the bandits are tunneling to the knife boxes in the village. Kill the burrowers before they reach the knives, or else they shall be too well armed!'

If the next step involves bear-riding bandits, you see:

    ???

    Step #8

  • Destroy the bandit burrowers before they can steal the shipments of knives 0/12 (Ethernere Tainted West Karana)

Task Window Says: Bandit burrowers have appeared all over the village. They are digging close to the surface and are heading for the crates that sit around the village homes. Kill the burrowers before they get to the knife crates and become more powerful.

If You Get This Step: Mobs called "a burrow" spawn around the village and make their way towards "a box of knives" in different locations (16 total). If you attack "a burrow", it triggers the spawn of "a bandit burrower" (kill target for this step). If "a burrow" reaches "a box of knives", the bandit burrower spawns on its own, but gains the ability "Knifeplay" to use in combat.

    =====================

  • Kill the mounted, bear-riding bandits that are preparing to attack the villagers 0/10 (Ethernere Tainted West Karana)

    Task Window Says: ?

If You Get This Step: Kill update (10x "a bandit bear rider" that spawn around the village).

    Step #9

  • Speak with Brother Estle 0/1 (Ethernere Tainted West Karana)

Task Window Says: Speak with Brother Estle about what to do next.

If You Get This Step: Hail update.

If you deal with tailors next, you see:

Brother Estle says 'The threat posed to the village by these bandits won't end until you deal with the bandit leader, Ladric the Fancy. His love of fancy dress is all-consuming. He keeps a coterie of tailors to keep him supplied with fine garments woven from stolen fabrics. If you kill his tailors, he'll likely move on in search of others. They are likely hiding in the tunnel under the bandit camp.'

If you deal with Ladric the Fancy next, you see:

    ??

    Step #10

  • Kill Ladric the Fancy's personal tailors 0/6 (Ethernere Tainted West Karana)

Task Window Says: Kill Ladric the Fancy's tailors in order to drive him out of the area. The tailors are hiding in the tunnels beneath the bandit camp.

If You Get This Step: Kill 6x "a bandit tailor", each of which casts "Fine Linen Wrap" every 35 seconds (random target).

    =====================

  • Kill Ladric the Fancy 0/1 (Ethernere Tainted West Karana)

    Task Window Says: ?

If You Get This Step: Find Ladric in the tunnels beneath the bandit area at around 555, -1855, -93. Also in the tunnels is an NPC named "Gormley" who spawns mobs called "a hovering junkpile" that assist Ladric (you'll have up to four of them to contend with). Adds despawn upon Ladric's death; Gormely is an optional kill.

    Step #11

  • Speak with Brother Estle 0/1 (Ethernere Tainted West Karana)

Task Window Says: Speak with Brother Estle and tell him you have eliminated the bandit threat.

If You Get This Step: Hail update to complete.

    You say, 'Hail, Brother Estle'

Brother Estle says 'Thank you again for your assistance, _____. We have clues to Brother Chintle's whereabouts, and the village is safe. [Leave] and rest, for I will soon ask you to journey to the southern village in search of Chintle. Do not tarry long!'

You have discovered where Brother Chintle might have went. You should leave and prepare for another search.

In STEP #6, if the task is 'Confront the bandit leader and find ...':

Task Window Says: Brother Chintle was last seen entering the bandit camp to the east of the village. The bandit leader, Ladric the Fancy, might know more about Brother Chintle's whereabouts. Rough him up and convince him to talk to you.

In STEP #8, if the task is 'Kill the mounted, bear-riding bandits ...':

Task Window Says: Bandit bear riders are wandering around the village, seeking retribution on villagers for the invasion of the bandit camp. Weaken them, and they'll be knocked off their mounts, decreasing their attack power.

    ---
When looking for the Bandit Bear Riders, I ran out of mobs when just running around the village. I eventually found several more when I moved towards the new / updated location for Brother Estle.

Some of us believe summoning is a highly overused mechanic in this game period.

Sorry to hear you got to eat a death finding out this NPCs habits.

24 aa's earned by group of 105's with LotD running. Alas, double-XP weekend had ended.

When you ask the villagers questions (=Hail them) don't forget those at the top of the transparent ramp.

The dorfs on bears are kind of hard to target, just like mounted players can sometimes be tricky to target. The dorfs don't attack anything the villagers (I guess they're just "preparing to") so you can take your time killing them. Track helps since they tend to be all over the place. (You get one "extra", which annoyed us by pestering us at the end of the instance while we're searching for collectibles.)

    Nothing sees thru regular invis.

Found 3 collectibles on the ground pretty quick. Was under the impression 4 dropped in this instance so spent 30 minutes scouting every square inch, including every tunnel. I don't normally do this since time is money and I'd just as soon buy collectibles I need. But some of the ones supposedly drop here are scarce and "sell" for 50kpp in the Bazaar so I invested the time. No luck on #4. Maybe it's just 3 sometimes...

*Task Window Say : Someone has come forward and claims to have recently seen Brother Chintle. Speak with them and find out where he has gone.

info - the ambushers are white and yellow con to a level 100, are snarable and rootable, but all summon. they only hit me for max 3600. Jornlin was also snarable and rootable and did not summon, but hit for 5k. If you get the other one, the auras spawn mobs and auto agro but they are snarable, rootable and don't summon.

Ladric the Fancy's health locked at 10% on us tonight. We had the 4 junkpiles mezed so thought that perhaps the quest had changed since the last time we had done this quest several weeks ago so we started killing the adds. Gormely comes running around the corner popping a replacement junkpile every time we killed one of the originals so we simply succored out to try again thinking perhaps the 10% health lock was just a fluke. We ran back. Landric's health was at 100% with the original 4 junkpiles there and Gormely where he was supposed to be. Tried again and still the health locked at 10%. Anyone else had this problem?

Just ran this HA and killed Romley as soon as I dropped into the cave. Moving on to Kill Ladric The Fancy, and had no issues. Though I killed the little junkpiles simultaneously and they died before Ladric did. Finished the HA in about an hour with my threesome (Pally, Chanter, Wizzy)...

I got 3 updates for each spot I visited, so only had to visit 4. Not sure if it's based on number of characters in group or what. I did have 3 characters and 3 mercs in the group. I got two pops at each of the spots.
