Call of the Forsaken Info & Guides: Overview | Progression & Task List | Raiding | Visible Armor

About Heroic Adventures

- Heroic adventures in Call of the Forsaken scale in level: As low as Level 75 and up to current maximum level.
- Scale is based on the highest level player present in the zone and affects difficulty, loot quality, and mob levels.
- There is some variation/randomization in the task steps you'll be assigned as you progress through the task.
- Time of completion will vary by your group's makeup (anywhere from 30-90+ minutes).
- Collection items appear as ground spawns midway through tasks (you'll see an emote indicating their appearance).
- Named mobs (or their PHs) spawn midway through tasks (usually, but always, at the same time collection items appear).
- These tasks have individual 3-hour lockout timers (timer gained upon completion).

Experience in Heroic Adventures

- Mobs in these instances grant some experience, but the bulk of experience is earned upon task completion.
- As of a patch in November 2014, less difficult tasks were tuned to reward less experience and more difficult ones were tuned to reward more.
- For an added experience bonus, check out Guard Hamarn's "Daily Tasks".

TASK IN DETAIL

========================================================================
TRIGGERING THE TASK
========================================================================

You say, 'Hail, Gribble Grobblenobber'

Gribble Grobblenobber gives you a stern warning, 'Stay away from the northwestern hills, stranger. Plenty of adventurers have gone missing after wandering those paths. Once you cross the [bridge] of bones, you never come back!'

You say, 'What bridge?'

Gribble Grobblenobber says 'I've never seen the bridge myself, but I hear it was built from the bones of ancient creatures that once lived in these hills. It's a shame, I bet the bridge is a sight to see, but you won't catch me near it. Not while people keep [disappearing].'

You say, 'Disappearing?'

Gribble Grobblenobber says 'We had a healthy expedition crew when we first arrived in these hills, but our numbers have been dwindling. At first, one or two gnomes would go missing on an excursion, so we started traveling in small groups. But then, whole groups would vanish! Eventually we stopped exploring the northwestern section of the hills altogether. I still curious about what happened to my friends, but I'm not curious enough to [investigate] alone and risk my life in the process!'

You say, 'I will investigate'

Gribble Grobblenobber looks you up and down, 'Well, I guess if a _____ is coming along, whatever is out there might snatch you instead of me! Just say [when] and I'll follow you into the northwestern hills.'

You have been assigned the task 'Into the Hills'.

Gribble Grobblenobber would like your help with discovering what lies within the northwestern hills.

You say, 'When!'

Wander the path, searching for the missing adventurers 0/1 (Dead Hills)

Task Window Says: Follow the path while keeping an eye out for any clues that may lead you to the missing adventurers.

If You Get This Step: This step updates as you move forward from the zone-in. Be warned: undead mobs spawn at the update location. ========================================================================
STEP #2

If You Get This Step: Kill the rat scavengers in the area.

=====================

Save the gnomes from their attackers 0/4 (Dead Hills)

Task Window Says: Some adventurers are alive, but they're surrounded and can't escape! Kill their captors.

If You Get This Step: Kill the pirate mobs around the captive gnomes (mezzable; stunnable; hit for a max ~12,500).

a captive adventurer cries, 'Help me, please! Get these bloodthirsty pirates away from me!'
The freed adventurer thanks you with a quick smile before running away.

========================================================================
STEP #4
========================================================================

Kill the hired guards along the bridge 0/12 (Dead Hills)

Task Window Says: Kill the hired guards on top of the enormous bone bridge.

If You Get This Step: Clear the bridge of hired guards.

=====================

Defeat the undead puslings roaming the bridge 0/12 (Dead Hills)

Task Window Says: Kill the undead puslings on top of the enormous bone bridge.

If You Get This Step: Clear the bridge of undead mobs. The undead puslings hit for a max ~12,000 (mezzable; stunnable).

========================================================================
STEP #5
========================================================================

Defeat the creatures of disease that linger near the wall 0/8 (Dead Hills)

Task Window Says: Kill the piles of bile that ooze near the wall.

If You Get This Step: Kill the oozes on the other side of the bridge. These mobs hit for a max ~13,500 (mezzable; stunnable).

=====================

Defeat the creatures of disease that linger near the wall 0/8 (Dead Hills)

Task Window Says: Kill the malarian pests that buzz near the wall.

If You Get This Step: Kill the malarian pests on the other side of the bridge.

========================================================================
STEP #6
========================================================================

Speak to Cogwitz Sprocknozzle 0/1 (Dead Hills)

Task Window Says: Speak to the survivor hiding behind a rock.

If You Get This Step: This is a simple hail update.

You say, 'Hail, Cogwitz Sprocknozzle'

Cogwitz Sprocknozzle speaks in a panicked, shaky voice, 'Finally, a friendly face! I was certain that the creatures from beyond the wall would drag me away like the others. Ugly, foul-smelling creatures with teeth like razors! The thought of them makes me ill.' The frightened gnome chokes back tears before continuing, 'I've been hiding out here, unable to retreat with the bridge full of things wanting to kill me! Is it safe to go now?'

========================================================================
STEP #7
========================================================================

Speak to Gribble Grobblenobber to return to camp 0/1 (Dead Hills)
Hail update

Task Window Says: Speak with Gribble Grobblenobber at the start of the path to return to camp.

If You Get This Step: Another simple hail update, which completes the task.

You say, 'Hail, Gribble Grobblenobber'

Gribble Grobblenobber says 'Interesting discoveries, _____. Let's talk [back] at the camp where it's safe.'

You say, 'Send me back!'

We did Into the Hills today, the group was

90 Ranger with healer merc
90 Shaman with tank merc
87 Druid with damage caster merc

Took down Bloodsucker, he dropped Omander's Spiritfork

EDIT: Druid buddy reminded me he dropped Scimitar of Seasons when we drpped him the night before.

I don't see either of those items on this page or on Bloodsucker's page.
EDIT: Now I do.Smiley: wink

So I have been doing these 3 missions casually since lv83. SK, Shaman, Ranger, caster dps mercs. Exp is like 6 of these to level roughly. Loot from the bosses seems to be randomly chosen stuff from the respective group vendors close to your level. I have gotten rings, earrings, weapons, shields, charms...just not primary armor pieces, or at least I have not gotten any yet. So at lv 83 I was getting lv 85 stuff to drop, at lv 87, lv 90 stuff dropped. Etc. Sometimes the bosses are there every mission, but I have ran these for a while now and sometimes you hit a bad stretch.

I habe been saving my marks for the lv 95 stuff. Originally I was going to buy lv 90 stuff but upon trying these missions at lv 92 now, I seem to be doing ok still woth mostly lv 85 1khp/1kmp stuff from HoT sprinkled with lv 90 stuff the bosses dropped fore here. Now at lv 92 i have to take out my second healer merc for the boss fights, but i figure if i can last out till lv 95 i can sport a whole set of 2khp/2kmp stuff from the lv 95 group vendor tjat will carry me to lv 100 when i will go to TBM.
Noticed that named are not dropping loot

At least for my group, we have run 2 in a row, both had named, neither one dropped anything (at all) let alone some loot.

I've never seen that before

easy

This task was extremely easy. I only had one mob summon. I did not get a named spawn but undead didn't see ivu and I was able to root punt rot split everything but the one. For the one my pet tanked it very easily. I run a full group but didn't swap to other 2 characters except to move them along with me. 100 necro 100 pally 100 druid 3 cleric mercs so ymmv.

I did the Captain set from Dead Hills first and they were much much harder.

I am doing this mission as a level 95 group, the trash scales down (they are all DB-white to 95.) but the named if it spawns does not, i got bloodsucker to spawn and tried to kill it, i couldnt even pull it 5 feet away before the dot landed and took out 50% of my hp in 1 tick, so if your doing it as a lower lvl ignore the named, i was in full tier 1 rain of fear. i was at 78k hp and 7.5k ac as a shadowknight.

Edit: also in hopes it helps, for the ambush part hug the right wall and inch forward, should spawn the ghosts without getting agro on you, then back up and proceed to kill them one by one, also the 3rd step i got 'save the captive adventurers' or something along the line, i had to save 4 gnomes by killed all the pirates around, ended up being about 10 pirates. everything ive seen in this zone is snareable minus bloodsucker, nothing sees invis or ivu either, very relaxed and easy mission, i get about 3% exp and 80 marks of valor per mission and takes me about an hr to do. nice mission to grind out in for a lvl 95 :P
