    Prerequisite : Shackle of Rock.

Master Niska says he has heard of [troubles with an outlander].

You say; 'what troubles with an outlander'

Master Niska says 'It seems Klok Ephmir has encountered an outlander who was hunting the food we lizards enjoy. The Legion will not act without proof of this outlanders existence. We were asked by the Baron to find this proof. We shall do this. You shall provide me with the outlanders head and the shackles of Rock and Stone!!"

Klok ephmir can be found on the island of merchants.

    You say, 'hail Klok Ephmir'.

Klok Ephmir stares at you with a wicked smirk."So you share the Brood's love of Frogloks. Alive, they provide much trouble. Dead, they provide much delight. I have found many uses for the Frogloks. From fine meat to fine mats. Ask if you do not see something.'

    You say, 'what outlander'.

Klok Ephmir turns pale at the mention of the Outlander. 'The Outlander!! That is what the lizards in the Tink N' Babble have dubbed him!! He is tall and strong. Get close enough and he will kill you on sight!! I think he could even defeat the likes of Bruiser Noz!! I spotted him near the edge of the swamps. He was headed toward the fields of Firiona.'

Kwinn the Outlander spawns in Firiona Vie. He is a rare spawn and is usually killed by frogloks soon after he spawns. Kill him and he drops a head. Return his head and shackles of rock and stone to receive the shackle of copper.

Master Niska says: 'Very good!! Here is your shackle of copper. The emperor shall be pleased that I, Mistress Niska, have slain the outlander. Do you have some time? I need someone to be my [personal courier]? Will you?'

Your faction standing with Swift Tails has been adjusted by 10.
Your faction standing with Legion of Cabilis has been adjusted by 2.
You receive 5 gold from Master Niska.

You say, 'I will be your personal courier.'

Master Niska grabs a tin box resting by her feet. 'Take this to Master Rinmark and be quick about it!'

This item (Tin Box) then appears on your cursor.

This begins the Shackle of Bronze quest.

Klok Poklon takes a swig straight from the keg's tap. His saliva covers the spout. 'Ahhh!! Heard of the Outlander, eh?!! He is said to be 20 feet tall and has arms the size of treetrunks. He carries a bow of fire and the arrows he shoots can follow you around corners. Some croak said he ran smack into him and was not even attacked, said he even greeted him. Ha!! Now that's babble if I ever heard it!'

You have slain Kwinn the Outlander! <<No faction hits.>>

    Triggered or not
    # Mar 28 2005 at 12:18 PM Rating: Default
Whether this guy is triggered or not shouldn't really be that big of a deal. It takes about 10 minutes of camping the "muddy hill" to get this guy to spawn. I just walked around on my now 52 monk (redoing the quest after getting my Whistling Fists) and I just cleared everything that walked to or from that hill (it's slightly northeast of the pit area's northeast corner btw) and he spawned within a matter of minutes.

So, who cares if this guy can be triggered or not? He's not a hard camp.

Now fingered skeleton, there's a camp that takes far too long...
    whatever works

I can confirm that in fact you can trigger this...

Talk to Riska first then talk to Elmphir make sure to say 'yes i love frogloks'... then hail again...

And Pop... at Loc 2134, -1341 in FV

Looks like a once a day thing ...

I can confirm he is NOT a triggered spawn. I have two accounts and under one spoke with both people who are supposed to trigger him to spawn and with the other account had the monk sitting roughly around the area he spawns. Nothing happened. If any one got him to spawn after speaking with the two people in east cab then it was by pure luck he spawned. Trying to confirm he is a triggered spawn however is pure B.S.
    And another loc.

I stumbled across Kwinn at roughly p2400, n1400. I believe he was heading roughly west at the time, also. As for this persistent theory that you have to spawn him by talking with Riska and Ephmir, it's purely happy cooincidence, be glad. I did verify that he was not kos to drolvarg or froglok factions, but forgot to check giants or goblins. I did run him by a few leeches, but I'm not positive about them. As for being a shaman, it's doubtful imo. I ran around for a while with him, checking his faction against the mobs, and he didn't cast a single spell for the duration. Also, with aa run 3, I left him behind without a problem.

So to recap what I found useful from the previous posts, slaughter everything wholesale. The area near the mud covered hill to the join in the grass, across to the giants, is his probable location. Everything in there that isn't a static spawn could be a ph, afaik.

    Happy hunting. :)

I got Kwinn at loc 1932, neg 1732. Scary fight at lvl 32, even twinked. Left me with around a bubble of health left. Mend was not used as it was already used from a previous fight with a drolvarg.

BTW, don't forget to kill drolvarg scavengers to get the sulfer stone while you are there for the next shackle quest.

I can confirm that Kwinn is triggered. I talked to Master Niska and Ephnir. I ran straight to FV after and waited, at the most, 5 minutes. I was SoWed so I got there a bit fast. Perhaps if I were not SoWed, I would have got there just as he spawned. Some of the posts below have different coordinates. These are all great posts. I took the four coordinates and made a box of roughly these points. I stayed within the box and found Kwinn very easily. At 35, he put up a decent fight and I used mend when he got me to about 2 and a half bubbles just for the heck of it. He conned blue to me so I was happy that I was actually getting EXP from him. I hope this helps future brothers and sisters in this quest. Good luck all!

Tried this twice. Both times he did not spawn.

Take note that this quest was made before VI learned how to trigger a spawn between zones. That in itself is proof enough that this is false.

Someone else probably triggered him... I got the courier for the previous shackle just by chance, he was walking by the mill one day. Sure I snagged someone's guy, but oh well, saved me the trouble.

I had no problem with this guy at all. I talked to Master Riska, then to Klok Ephimir. I ran to the eastern most FV/swamp zone, and I killed a few mobs I saw near where the grass changes textures. I killed a goblin standing in a certain spot, then turned around to kill something else, when I turned back Kwinn the Outlander was standing pricisely where the goblin had been. I screenshotted his exact /loc it is POS 2678, NEG 2266. He was not kos and light blue to 43.
    ok, just got the head

ok guys, i've been trying time after time to get him to spawn since i was level 20 (level 41 now) and trying everything on this page to get him to. finally, by dumb luck (isn't that how everything usually happens?) i was leaving zone to give up and help a guild mate out, he spawned right in front of me. i didn't talk to master niska, or anybody previously, he just spawned. so i'm positive he's not a triggered spawn...but i bet he has placeholders. anyway, as a few have mentioned before, he spawns inside fironia vie, near the swamp of no hope zoneline, the eastern one. the approx. loc he spawned at was pos2800,neg2000....right where the grass changes. he's not too easy, i was at 50% and he forced me to FD and bandage once before i could kill him. not extremely hard, i just wouldn't recommend any 20s soloing him like it says to. =)
    too easy

LMAO this guy was a joke i took my monk to FV and put him up on the hill at the giant fort (p2640 n2779) and logged a newbie monk in to iniate the quest (with guild master and merchent) then logged on my wifes 25 Druid and waited after 15min (approx) he spawned at p2382 -1789 in between a rock and a tree. takedown was a joke got head got bracer

I have tried triggering him several times and it hasn't worked, but when I read abtou him poping near the swamp/normal grass part near zone, I wonder, what FV/SONH zone is that at? There are 2, I have been camping the eastern one, from the zone to the 'muddy hill' with a tracker, and he hasn't poped after taking a mule to talk to Klok Ephmir.

I tried all the spawning suggestions on here, and when I took my character to cabilis and started the quest then went to SONH --> FV he was there
    easy!

I just did this quest, and oh god was it the easiest I have ever done. Maybe I just got lucky, but damn it was!

I DO think that Kwinn is on a timer with the Klok, because when I left for FV the last thing I did was talk to the klok. When I got to FV I shouted for a trackers help and the loc of the giant fort where I planed to set up camp. With no trackers to assist me, I ran to the giant fort, and on the way there was a attacked by a wondering Drovlarg, when I FDed, who should spawn right next to me? none other then Kwinn.

The loc of his spawn was around 2046, -1563. It was int he middle of a couple rocks.

    I hope this helps others!
    Finally!
    # Feb 11 2002 at 11:18 AM Rating: Decent
It took me a couple weeks of on-and-off searching to get Kwinn, but I finally got him last night. I was sitting just to the left of the Giant camp, picking off the stray doggies and froggies that happened to go near me and was just about to call it a night when Kwinn walks out of the rain right in front of me. I frantically ran out and tagged him and took him back to my pullspot where I proceeded to give him the thumping of his (short) life =) He only took a bubble of health off me (I am a 35 Monk), and I finished him off pretty quick. Got a fine steel short sword and 6gp off of him and, more importantly, his head. I tried doing all the triggers to make him pop, but it seems to me that you just have to wait and hopefully you will get lucky and see him like I did. One more little note... I would not recommend anyone under level 30 to do this solo, as this area literally crawls with froggies and doggies. I was on the "Muddy Hill" with a 54 war friend when I was Lvl 32 and there were so many aggros that it got really crazy at times. Your best bet is o get yourself a tracker and hang out by the giant camp and wait... and wait... and wait =)

I just finished this quest. I tried the trigger theory for Kwinn, but he didn't spawn, so I'm not sure that it consistently works. I just camped down there with a tracker and happened to catch Kwinn. He was wandering freely among the locals, they didn't seem to aggro on him, unless I got super lucky and happened to log in just as he spawned, which I doubt.

The reward was the Shackle of Copper (obviously), some faction, 4 gold, no experience, and an 8-stone box for the next part of the quest (ugg).

    Triggered?
    # Dec 24 2001 at 8:12 PM Rating: Decent
Yes, he's triggered spawn. I sat upon edge of the swamp (where the grass turns to the swap grass) there I camped. I created a new char in Cabilis, there I went and talked to Klok Ephmir. After that, I logged back on my monk who was waiting at the swamps edge. Not 10 mins later (Notice this is how long it would take you to get from Cabilis to FV via swamp) he spawned!

To verify, I did this again, and sure enough, 10 mins on the dot (give or take 3) he spawned again!

    So, there you have it.

    Soloing Kwinn
    # Nov 30 2001 at 12:35 AM Rating: Decent
(Because I hate when people ask if they can solo something.)

Fought two different spawns of Kwinn, once at 30, and then again at 34 (only one blue into level though, so no combat skill increases). Same equipment both times: FB and EoD and half Wu's and half misc armor better than Wu's.

First time I nearly defeated him, but got an add after I IDed him. Second time, with three more levels, Kwinn used me for jail-bait. Three times.

Finally took him down with the assistance of a passing monk (40+ I think he was).
Disarming him really has no effect. He strikes slower, but his average damage increases from 55 to 65.

He resisted ID one out of two times it landed.

Mr. Fizzle was not with him, and I have never seen froggies buff other races, so I think he either has varying strength per incarnation, or was nerfed during the two weeks that I did not see him.

He also regenerates at an insane rate. After taking him down to 25%, I had to FD and immediately began bandaging. By the time I had reached 50%, Kwinn was back to full health.

As for having a triggered spawn, I cannot say. Some people swear by it, but I had no success with it.
    Another coincidence?
    # Nov 09 2001 at 6:16 PM Rating: Decent
Decided to test the "triggered spawn" theory. Talked to Niska, then Ephmir. Ran to FV and wandered around for maybe five minutes before finding Kwinn standing by the forest-->swamp boundry. Didn't manage to kill the bugger, but I DID notice that the frogs and dogs were ignoring him completely. /shrug

Put a druid with tracking and your monk at the forest giant camp in FV. Camp behind the giants for protection, and every couple hours just log on the druid and check tracking. Within a day Kwinn was on track. Snared and Combusted about 4 times, Kwinn went down. Quickly logged and got on monk. Looted the head and I'm on my way to Bronze. Talking to NPC in East Cabiliis does not trigger it, trust me.
    Kwest for Kwinn
    # Oct 29 2001 at 10:51 PM Rating: Default
Kwinn is such a pain. Ive been hunting for him over the past 3 days and no sign of him or the troll for that matter.

I have the collection of stones for Master Rinmark in TD already, the only thing holding me back is a bloody severed head.

Being optomistic I decided to try talking to the monk master and Klok in Cabillis to see if that would spawn him. No luck, dont waste your time. This is just another pain in the butt designed to slow your progress and test your patients. If VI wanted it to be easy then Kwinn would be a static spawn and would always be there for you to kill.

Infact, way back in the beginning when EQ started there was a post from Brad that stated that each zone was seperate from the others. Talking with a NPC in one zone does not effect NPC's in any other zone. But....If you can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt to me that you can trigger a spawn in one zone by hailing or talking to an NPC in another zone please post here and feel free to flame me.
