There is an NPC named Ged Twigborn who hangs around another NPC and they will wander the forest at times. I usually see them in one of two places: either along the same wall as the zone to the commonlands, or by turning on the path off the main road from the sign pointing towards Freeport.

Ged will make you some gloves for a price. The lionskin gloves cost 96 gold and a high quality lion skin.

In order to get the lionskin gloves, you need a high faction with Ged, which you can get by killing Shralok Orcs in the Forest. High Quality Lion Skins are dropped by Highland Lions in EK. I have been told that a tiger spawns some times in the south west corner of Kith forest near the orc spawn and gives a high quality skin as well.

Ged Twigborn and Irin Lunis wander Kithicor Forest together. I'm not sure of their entire path but their pass does cross just below High Pass.

You say, "Hail, Ged Twigborn"

Ged Twigborn says, "Hello, ______. What brings you to this neck of the woods? You must have heard of my expert tanning skills. I craft some of the finest skin garments this side of Highpass Hold."

You say, "What skin garments?"

Ged Twigborn says, "Gloves are my speciality. I make four varieties: ratskin, wolfskin, bearskin, and my most sought after type, lionskin."

You say, "What lionskin gloves?"

Ged Twigborn says, "Interested in the best, are you? Well, it will cost you. In addition to a high quality lionskin, I require payment of 96 gold pieces for me to craft you my exquisite lionskin gloves. Search the northern plains of Karana for highland lions as their skins are the most supple."

  • Give Ged 96 gold and a High Quality Lion Skin

Due to phenominal items being common these days, and the boom in tradeskilling, I think it's so sad that these gloves aren't worth the 96 gold, let alone the 3000pp hq lion skin!
Cats are not necessarily enemies of druids/rangers.

Ok, there seems to be a slight misunderstanding about being KOS to druid/ranger guilds and the con table with the animals.

No ranger or druid is KOS to bears or wolves except the war wolves in East Karana, who are allied with the gnoll reavers. The cats in the Karanas will con dubious to rangers and druids but have never attacked unless I was killing another cat (this was when I could get exp for them). However, the sabertooth tigers in Overthere, for example, will attack my ranger. I do not know about any other cats in the Kunark zones as I do not hunt in them often.

Except for the bears in Surefall Glade or the wolves and bears in Jaggedpine Forest, if you kill any wolf or bear you will not take a faction hit for them. If you kill wolves or bears near the druid rings, or as someone said in a previous post, near a treant, then you will get attacked and probably take faction hits for killing whatever attacked you (this is if you are high enough to do so). So, the bottom line is...some zones the cats will be kos to druids and rangers, but in my experience, most are not.

Kill carefully and whatever you do, do not kill wolves and bears in sight of Holly Windstalker in Qeynos Hills...she will hand your butt to you if she sees you.

    Good hunting.

I looted one of these off a woodland Lion in East Commons. I sold it to a merchant. :-( If I find any more,I'll /auction it. What are these skins for anyways? Can't be just for the gloves.

HQ lion skins are very rare, and are used in tailoring the fleeting quiver, I've seen HQ lion skins sell for as much as 500pp on Fennin Ro, sorry you sold it to a merchant, hopefully you will remeber this if you run across another

    According to eqtraders:

Ruined Lion skin- lions in NK/SK/EK no known use
LQ lion skin- off highland lions in NK, no known use
MQ lion skin - off highland lions in NK, poison vial
HQ lion skin- off highland lions in NK, poison vial, for Kithicor quest and for tailoring fleeting quivers

No one ever said that anything other than bears and wolves are supposed to be your friends. If they con amiable to you (ignore the attack message from the gorge hounds and dark stalkers in EK. They are wolves and don't attack) then they are your friends. So go out there and kill those lions to your heart's content.

I have buyers for HQ (yellow) lion skins from 200pp to 250pp. Why would anyone give them to someone for a pair of gloves? I have only seen these drop from highland lions in NK

If this item indeed requires a HQ lion skin, I urge everyone DO NOT DO THIS QUEST! a HQLS will sell for 100pp, and you can probably get the better split paw gloves thrown in free, if you sell it in NK. I've killed hundreds of lions in NK (by far, the best place I've found for MQ and HQ cat pelts) and never once found a HQLS, although my companions have.

I would take your advice if the only thing I wanted was money. These gloves do provide decent AC and SV Cold is also nice. For an UN-twinked char, I would say go ahead and get the gloves, then if you loot any more HQ lion skins, go ahead and sell those.

WHAT are you talking about? If you don't sell the first HQ lion and get four sets of better gloves you're a doofus - the HQ lions are too rare to turn in for this crappy glove

Um, what you get off those cats in WK are cat skins which are a brown color. Those can be used to tailor various (medium size) leather armors and tailored quivers. For this quest you need a hq LION skin which is a yellow color and until recently could not be used for tailoring. (Now they can be used by extremely skilled tailors to make a fleeting quiver.)

    # Jun 01 2001 at 8:16 AM Rating: Default
killing animlas doesn't drop your faction w/ druids. although, killing bears near treants pisses them off, and they will attack you. And killing treants DOES drop your faction with druids. These things give good exp and drop a couple plat each, so if you don't mind avoiding druid rings, go for em.

"Superb" or "excellent" skins or pelts are used in cultural tailoring. Making armor for a specific race. Check out this tailoring site I found, good info.

    http://www.lokari.net/everquest/tailoring.html

And while we're on the subject... hehe... I'm told skins and pelts are interchangeable for tailoring but I've had no luck making anything with a "skin". It won't combine. I do have a large sewing kit, so maybe I'll try it with a small one.

The skins used for cultual talering are Sabretooth skins. Sabretooth tiger hide and Excellent Sabretooth tiger hide are the names I think. I've look long and hard and have yet to find a use for the Superb Lion Skin.

    # Mar 27 2001 at 3:17 PM Rating: Default
I have killed several hundred Highland Lions in EK, i like this zone, and have gotten dozens of Ruined Lion, 5 or 6 LQ, 1 MQ, but never a HQ. I can no longer get xp from the lions, and only take 1 on if it attacks me while killing crag spiders. This is one of those quest that if u get the drop, do it, other wise, don't worry about it.

    what a terrible quest!
    # Mar 20 2001 at 5:29 PM Rating: Default
the estimated time above doesn't seem to be realistic. if you are a high enough level to kill a highland lion, you will still need to go through many of them just to find a hq lion skin. then you have to search for ged which can take a considerible amount of time w/o track. then, he does not con right to you, you have to go raise your faction which will probably take a great amount of time. then after repeated check-backs to see if you con him correctly, you have to dish out 10 plat and your hard earned lion skin for a pair of average gloves. argh! plan to spend a few days on this.

...not that i'm sore or anything... ;)

#Anonymous, Posted: Oct 12 2000 at 2:47 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I think I can speak for everyone on this topic. Please people when you know that someone has been camping for a long time, don't pester them about when they are going to leave. Don't sit down next to them to "wait" until they are done. You might be waiting a long time and then the time it takes for you to complete your camp on top of that. The NPC will always respawn and will always be there. Just ask them kindly if they will send you a tell when they are done and 9 times out of 10 they will. These players are tired from camping that long of a period and quite understandably a little grouchy and become extremely nervous at the thought of someone possibly stealing their kill. So, be courteous.
