You loot Scrap Metal, not black box fragments for this quest. I have done it several times. Beno Targnarle is located at 83.28, 404.15, 14.50 in the Warrior Guild.

I tried to this quest and while i was given the talk about exterminating rats, and then about the metal rat, he won't take the blackbox fragements from me, just says he doesn't need them.

I'm not sure I'm interested enough to kill rats just to see if it changes things. ALso I
m nt a warrior or a dwarf, which might factor in. Curious to know if anyone has tried it lately.

Has any one done this quest? How long does it take for the metal rat to spawn?

U can use the bb fragments from Steamfont in the RED V quest in Ak'anon. Talk to the leader of the Gemcutter's Guild (warriors) to get the lead in quest to the RED V one.

I saw the metal rat on top of the structure that covers the mine entrance. I killed it and took the parts to beno who gave me a Knight card. I took this card to the Island Erollisi (sp) and gave it to the dwarven Smith. I recieved a dwarven Tunic. Yes the same one you recieve from killing Emporer Crush in Crushbone. Nice reward with little effort. However, since then I have yet to see the metal rat spawn again.

Many moons ago you used to be able to hand in your black box fragments from the dead clockworks in Steamfont to Sanfyrd, the junk dealer across the water from the mines of malfunction. I petitioned a GM recently and asked if there was no further use for the bb fragments, then why were they still there? The response was that they couldn't divulge information about quests and that I had to discover the uses of any items on my own or ask other players. Is there a quest involving these fragments anymore? The quests posted here require fragments from specific spawns and are not the ones you find on every clockwork spider or rat.

The quest to Sanfyrd is still operational. I have turned in dozens of the fragments to him in the last few weeks. There is a change though, he wil only take the fragments and not the other items that he also used to take.

The minimum level for this quest should be 4, not 10.

I have never even seen the cleaner much less killed it, so i was wondering if the blackbox fragments from steamfont work

I tried giving my many blackbox fragments to both Beno Targnarle and to Jeet (Miners Cap quest) but neither gave any response. Perhaps my faction is not good enough (Wood-Elf range).
Has Anyone found a use for the blackbox fragments dropped from Rouge / Runaway clockworks? Or has anyone been able to use them for either of these 2 kaladim quests?

WTF I killed something called a clockwork runaway that i saw pop after i killed some rats. It dropped Blackbox Fragments that dont stack and are nodrop. What do I do with these. I need the exp and cash since im only lvl 2.

Hey, it just SEEMS like there should be a use for the non-stackable blackbox fragments you get off of rogue clockworks in Ak'kanon's newbie area. Does anyone know of a use for these nodrop pieces? I wouldn't care if I wasn't strapped for cash as a lowbie in Sullon Zek...:)

Dont know if its the same, but I had some loot, looked like scrap metal but is labeled blackbox fragments. They have dropped off of every runaway clockwork ive killed in steamfont.

This quest takes way to long. The cleaner only spawns once you killed a few giant rats and infected rats. Then it runs strait to a guard so if you are not quick enough you have to wait even longer. I haven't gone to Oot to give the knight card yet but i hope it was worth all the time i wasted.

Actually, the guards won't attack the Cleaner VII, so at least you don't have to worry about that.

That said, the quest is still pretty crappy. I collected two Knight Cards and took them to the island. Got a rusty halberd and a buckler (and negligible XP at 16). Hooray for me! :/

Also on the island there is a pirate by the name of Dayle something-or-other who was high blue to my level 16 (at the time) paladin. He aggro'd on me when I was inside one of the sister's huts, so be careful if you are doing the Knight Card quest and are of low level, as there aren't any "guards" in the village to save you. He dropped a "pirate earring" (lore item) which is involved in another quest right there on the island, for which I received my very own Kiola Nut.

All in all, a wasted trip.

The clockwork also drops a Bronze pestal, lore, no drop. What quest is it used for? Also, when you kill the clockwork, you take a faction hit with the clockworks.

this quest is just to get the knight card,so if you want to bother killing it and then running around(swimming)the ocean of tears looking for a random reward,i guess its a good quest
