You may find Shakey Scarecrow at the Tagglefoot Farm.

You say, 'Hail, Shakey Scarecrow'

Shakey Scarecrow rustles and looks up at you in acknowledgment.

Reebo Leafsway shakes his head sadly. 'Poor old [Shakey] just isn't what he used to be.'

You say, 'Who is Shakey?'

Reebo Leafsway says 'Shakey is our protector and friend. He is just getting old. Losing his [stuffing]. His [head] is getting very cracked and dry as well.'

You say, 'Stuffing?'

Reebo Leafsway says 'The hay he requires is difficult to obtain. It must have been harvested from the Plains of Karana, then cursed by a high priest of the Faceless, [Cazic-Thule]. Finally, you must cast the hay and a flask of blessed Oil of Life into an armorer's forge. Only then will the hay be ready. We Stormreapers will reward you greatly if you could accomplish this task. Remember, you must give the scarecrow stuffing to Shakey only after it has been properly prepared.'

You say, 'Cazic-Thule?'

Reebo Leafsway says 'Cazic-Thule is the dark deity of fear. He is worshiped by many evil beings. There is believed to be a ruined temple dedicated to him deep in the [Feerrott]. That would be a good place to look for one of his high priests.'

You say, 'Feerrott?'

Reebo Leafsway says 'The Feerrott is a vast rain forest in southwestern Antonica. It is home to many lizardman tribes.'

Go to the Western Plains of Karana and find a bump on the fields or follow Cleet Miller around until he drops a bale of hay. Blessed Oil has its own quest. Roror can be found west of the river in the Feerrott, and he wanders erratically.

You say, 'Hail, Roror'

Roror says 'Greeetingsssssssssss. What brings sssssuch asssss you to the heart of the Feerrott? Do you [know fear]?'

You say, 'Yes, I do know fear.'

Roror says 'Yesssss. I can tassssste the fear in your pitiful heart. I am Roror, High Priessst of Cazic-Thule! I sssseek to sssssspread terror acrossssss all of Norrath! I ssssshall let you live thisss day so you can sssshare the fear that liessss within you.'

You say, 'Bless my hay.'

Roror says 'You sssseek the blesssssssing of the Lord of Fear?! Give me what you have and 66 gold pieces as an offering to Cazic-Thule.'

Roror says 'Yesss. But remember, Cazic-Thule demandsssss both the item and 66 gold piecessss assssss an offering.'
Roror says 'Whatsssss thisssss? You sssseek my blessssssssing? Heh heh heh... Very well... CAZIC-THULE! Take this fruit of Karana into horror'sss dark embrace. Fear and death made manifesssssst. A harvesssst of terror! Here, take your gift of blood and sssstraw. Use its dark powersssss in the name of the Fear Lord!'

You receive a Sack of Cursed Hay (identifies as "Straw of Cazic-Thule"). Combine with Blessed Oil in any forge, trivial at 15 (no-fail?). The result is a Sack of Writhing Hay (identifies as "Scarecrow Stuffing") Upon giving this to Shakey:

Your faction standing with Storm Reapers has been adjusted by 25.
Your faction standing with Mayor Gubbin has been adjusted by 2.
Your faction standing with Merchants of Rivervale has been adjusted by 3.
Your faction standing with Unkempt Druids has been adjusted by -3.
You gain experience!
You receive 1 gold from Shakey Scarecrow.

If you say 'I don't know fear' to Roror, he tells you that you soon will and attacks you.

You also receive experience and some money.

where's my harvester?
# Aug 06 2000 at 12:32 PM Rating: Decent
i have done this quest many times before the change and the first time i did it with 1 point in smithing i failed.i then made it 10 points and from there succeded each time and got the belt, but no harvester.the reason they suggest level 20 is because u should be a halfling druid to do it.why 20?tracking and teleports make it a lot easier.funny story, the last time i did i was around level 15 and he conned yellow to me.ach, i digress, ne way, if u don't have tracking, the easy way to find him is to constantly move about 10 feet and stop.look around and keep movin, don't follow rorer as he will be in front of u one moment and 20 feet ahead of u the next, just follow the pet and u will be fine.if u find him standing still, wait for him to run as he will only stay in one spot long enough for you to accomplish your goal.the belt is a keeper, but i wouldn't waste my time trying to get the harvester as there are plenty of better weapons such as the drop off of lockjaw.
Roror

Roror is on the same faction as CT lizards wich are different from most lizards in feerrott. this evil guy takes down a lvl 49 druid in moments. To raise CT liz faction (Allize Taeew) kill the smaller lizards in Feerrott (Allize Volew) i did a lot of CT killing before they moved Roror off his beta neutral standing and boy does he make spec kiting THAT much harder
Not Broken, Just harder
# Jul 28 2000 at 8:46 PM Rating: Good
Nope ths quest aint broken, just ALOT harder. Roror is now on the oposite faction as the lizzerdmen on the inside of cazic-thule. Kill the lizzard men there and your faction with him will eventualy be high enough to do the quest. However the minimum level for this quest is now more like 20 since the lowest level creature in cazic-thule is a broodling, levels 9-11
DANGER! DANGER!
# Jul 26 2000 at 4:19 PM Rating: Good
Do NOT approach RORER ( a level 49 MOB) unless you are sure you have your faction with him repaired. (wish I knew what faction it was...) He made quick work of me the other day. Unless they put this back the way it was this quest is essentially broken.
Roror

He still moves, but occaisionally stops in spots.
Where is he than?
# Jul 25 2000 at 12:34 PM Rating: Decent
If he no longer moves than what is his exact location?
Things change

I have done this quest two times and received a belt the first time and a Wee Harvester the second time. I tried once more yesterday. Roror now stays in one place instead of moving around. Factions have changed, Roror killed me when I appeared in front of him. Check your faction before you go and visit Roror. This quest just got a lot harder.
Wee harvester quest
# Jul 14 2000 at 8:07 PM Rating: Decent
I have dont his quest about 7 time now, i got lucky and got the harvester first time out, here are some miths that i will dispell.
1. you NEED 5 points in smithing, a friend did this quest and failed because of this
2. with Teleports this quest take about an hour (Roror likes to roam, this take the majority of the time)
3. having the belt does not automaticly make shakey give you the harvester, you will just recieve exp and a smile.

I did this quest as a 12 Druid half-elf. i have 23 blacksmithing skill, and when i combined the blessed oil and the cursed hay in the forge it sayed it was trivial, so sharpening weapons till its trivial will work. Also when I found Roror he was at neg375, pos1450. I plan on doing this quest again for the harvester, as the belt of the river is halfling only:(
Need Smithing Skill
# Jul 12 2000 at 9:24 AM Rating: Decent
I had read posts both ways concerning the need or lack of need for blacksmithing skill to combine the Oil and Hay in the forge. I have tried it three times now, once with zero smithing skill, once with 5 points invested and once with 10 points invested and failed each time- lacked the skill to make the item. I am going to go to FP and sharpen weapons until its trivial before trying again, because I've wasted about 5 hours travelling halfway across Antonica with nothing to show for it.
Great quest

I did this quest twice, once at 12, and once at 14 or so. Just use camoflague. I am 34 now and still use the Belt of the River, and sold the Wee Harvister for twice what it is worth. May have to do it soon with my new druid hehe.
finding him and note on faction
# Jul 09 2000 at 12:30 AM Rating: Decent
I'm bound in Timorous so I decided to give this quest a try because I figured it would be fast, easy and fun. The oil was easy to get, the hay was easy to find. Roror however was pretty challenging. Almost as soon as I walked up to him, he took off running at break-neck speed and both I and his pet wolf had a hard time keeping up with him. He finally stopped when he got to the river. I gave him the money and the hay and he gave me the cursed hay. However I didn't get a faction adjustment for Beta-neutral like the quest said. Is this a change or what?
One other comment: The belt is a lore item correct. In general when a quest gives one of two or more lore items as a reward, it doesn't try to give you the same thing twice. You should get the harvester when doing the quest a second time, assuming that you have a belt already in your inventory.
RE: Not good idea i think
# Sep 08 2000 at 1:23 AM Rating: Default
If you have a belt in inventry, and next reward is a belt, 2nd belt will simply poof!
You will get nothing in that time.

I have experienced this kind of matters some times.
When i land on Freeport rier, i run down to pub basement and do fishing pole quet.
When i take Lenka's pouch to Lady Lenka, i will get either a broken fishing pole or nothing.
Because i already have a moggok's right eye in my bank.
So don't try your luck in this manner ;)
Sell your belt/harvester before try next.
REJeez, forgot to resister.

I did this quest 6 times, got belt every time, eek failed once; that's the bad news, the good news is I sold the belts on average for about 60pp, made a killing, started quest with 6pp at 17 after having bought a couple of nice items and ended up at 19 with all my spells and 70pp left over. I recommend this quest for anyone who needs a little extra cash.
Good quest, but...

I combined the Cursed Hay and the Blessed Oil and got the message "These items in this quantity combine to produce nothing." Please e-mail me if you find better info. Chris@teach.com
Thanks!

The description says you can tell Roror to curse or bless your hay. Could this have a difference in wether you get belt or harvester? Someone cast Identify on the resulting hay..could they be different?
Roror
# Jun 30 2000 at 10:00 PM Rating: Decent
I went and started this quest at 10th level, boy that was a mistake. Roror is impossibly had to find without tracking, I spent 12 hours over several days, then gave up. I came back at level 20 and found him in 3 minutes=)
Reward

I have done this quest five times...and I have gotten the Belt of the River as a reward each time I have completed it. I guess the Wee Harvestor is the rare reward.
level
