You say, 'Hail, Vurgo'

Vurgo says 'Welcome! I am Vurgo, follower of Solusek Ro and holder of the [harvester] and the [Words of Darkness].'

You say, 'What harvester?'

Vurgo says 'I can forge you one, but you will need to bring me the correct [scythe components].'

You say, 'What scythe components?'

Vurgo says 'The first thing I need is a shadowed scythe from our mortal enemies, the shadowed men.'

Give him a Shadowed Scythe.

Vurgo says 'A shadowed scythe! Well done! The only good shadowed man is a banished one. As the weapons of the shadowed men have a tendency to disappear, I have given you a note to remind me that you have indeed supplied me with a scythe. Give me the note with the following items and I will forge you a harvester: a fungus eye from a mortuary fungus in the Estate of Unrest, a shadowed knife from an island goblin headmaster in the Ocean of Tears and a fire opal. Give me these items, and I will forge for you a harvester.'
Your faction standing with Temple Of Sol Ro has been adjusted by 2.
Your faction standing with Shadowed Men has been adjusted by -1.
You gain experience!!

Hand in the items.

Vurgo says 'Solusek Ro does not believe in half measures.'
Vurgo says 'Solusek Ro does not believe in half measures.'
Vurgo says 'Solusek Ro does not believe in half measures.'
Vurgo says 'My note, a fungus eye, a shadowed knife and gold! All of the necessary components to make a harvester. Well done, adventurer!'
Your faction standing with Temple Of Sol Ro got better.
Your faction standing with Shadowed Men got worse.
You gain experience!!

Scythe only first!
# Jan 08 2001 at 10:47 PM Rating: Default
Make sure and only hand the guy the shadowed scythe. He then gives you a note. Give him the note along with the remaining three components. BTW, I have found all shadowed items very quickly in Innothule swamp, though I don't think it matters where you hunt them.

You can give all 4 then give the note afterwards. I gave all 4 and got just a note back. I was devastated at first...Decided to gamble and gave the note alone afterwards, got me a brand new Harvester...:)

im an erudite necro, and when i get to whats his face with the undead nights, he calls me a talking lump of refuge. the guys down the stairs in the room past him, vurgo and the erudite, kill me on sight. how would i raise my temple faction high enough to get my harvester?

1) Kill shadowed men. They raise faction with the Temple. Or, hang around people who are camping shadowed men and just get a pot shot in every fight. You will get faction hits, they will get exp.
2) Collect Derv rings and hand them in to Ortallius in South Ro. From what I understand, when Ortallius cons warmly (or amiable, can't remember which) then your faction is high enough. If you buy rings, not only do you help yourself, but you can help newbies raise funds to buy gear for themselves.
3) Go into Mistmoore and pick up the flower on the ground and give it to the shadowed man there. That will raise faction as well.
Which items are no-drop

Can someone post which of the items required for this quest are no-drop?
#Anonymous, Posted: Nov 13 2000 at 11:53 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I'd have to guess...GUESS PEOPLE...that the shadowed scythe is no rent, meaning when you log or go linkdead, it go buh-bye, but this is only a guess so back off!

I think I can speak for everyone on this topic. Please people when you know that someone has been camping for a long time, don't pester them about when they are going to leave. Don't sit down next to them to "wait" until they are done. You might be waiting a long time and then the time it takes for you to complete your camp on top of that. The NPC will always respawn and will always be there. Just ask them kindly if they will send you a tell when they are done and 9 times out of 10 they will. These players are tired from camping that long of a period and quite understandably a little grouchy and become extremely nervous at the thought of someone possibly stealing their kill. So, be courteous.

#Anonymous, Posted: Sep 26 2000 at 8:36 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) They do not drop off of orc pawns. It was probably someone who was camping the shadowed men for something else and handed the orc pawn the Scythe because they didn't want it.
#Anonymous, Posted: Sep 13 2000 at 9:03 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I found a shadowed scythe on an orc pawn outside Befallen. Don't know if it was a one time thing or not. But they are a tad easier to kill than the shadowed men
#Anonymous, Posted: Sep 30 2000 at 9:59 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) it was given to the orc pawn by someone....
Temple of Ro faction

My troll is Indifferent to the temple, as was my gnome necro (turned in about 40 billion derv rings) so unless you've messed up faction some how you (the iksar) should be fine
Iksars in the temple...
# Aug 17 2000 at 1:29 PM Rating: Decent
im also curious if Iksars are naturally KOS in the temple... i know there are a couple quests that you can do to raise the faction.. but dont know if i already have a bad base faction or if its already neutral =)

I believe everyone starts at indiff with the Temple. However, killing Shadowed Men is a great way to increase faction with the temple
Temple faction

Hailing Tazgar in the temple will decrease your faction, as I found out
accidentally. I don't know what he can do FOR you, but this is one
thing to be wary of.

I'd like to make a few comments regarding this bad boy:

-It looks cool, especially with Words of Darkness.
-The AC and STR are good for low levels.
-Black Tome is better if you can get 200 INT using it instead of this, because the + mana is really great.

Im a DE necro, and I can't stand this thing. If I ever did the quest I would be to sell it. I use a black tome instead. The +5 int is nice on this, but the +5 str is useless as all casters use STR for is weight capacity and this thing weighs 8 stones, so the STR is useless. the AC and Deadeye are nice but I can live without that. Seing as how I play on Fennin I don't need the see invis and I already have ultravision. I take the Black Tome over it 'cause the +4 int is almost as good, and there is +30 mana, which is good for when I get to 200 int and I need more mana items (that is, if I am still using it) not to mention it doesn't weigh anything. Also, the -5 cha on the harvester screws with our already low cha and that has a direct effect on the Fear series and Screaming Terror (which is a mez). If I where a human or Erudite, sure I might use this, but as a gnome and deffinately a DE, save up for a Black Tome, they are about the same price on my server.

I'm DE and still use it. What does playing on Fennin Ro have to do with seeing invisible? Some special server bonus??? Didn't think so. Expand upon that, if you would.
It's one of the few items I carry for the look. Hell, the ONLY item I carry for the look. Saves me from casting an admittedly low mana spell, but I've grown so used to having deadeye on permanently, I'd miss it. Lazy, I guess...)
A matter of pride too, it's something I got by myself, at a relatively early lvl. And my int is long past 200, so yes, I could do without. I just choose not to...

Could be wrong, but I think he was referring to the fact that Fennin is not a PvP server and therefore seeing invisible isn't critical to survival. =)
Question
# Aug 09 2000 at 5:44 PM Rating: Decent
Can an Iksar Necro go into Temple of Ro and do this quest?
RE: Question
# Nov 15 2000 at 9:59 PM Rating: Default
What slot does it go in?

hey..

I saw it at average so had to vote. Maybe those with ultravision and infravision disdain this baby, but try an erudite or human AND add a pvp server into the mix.. I like :)
Infravision and more
# Nov 23 2000 at 12:51 PM Rating: Decent
The effect is Deadeye, which in addition to Infravision gives
See Invisible. All that plus it looks so kewl for a necro.
