This group mission is the second in a series of five. It begins with "Beal the Minstrel" (click for map image) on the island of Jardel's Hook in the Buried Sea, at about /location 140, 3035.

    Pre-requisites for Requesting:
    - Completion of "The Mystery of Aviak Island"

You say, 'Hail, Beal the Minstrel'

Beal the Minstrel is humming to himself and smiles. 'Always a pleasure to see you again, _____! No doubt the mysteries of the Windsong have compelled you as much as they compel me. Have the time to assist me again in searching for it? Perhaps you could [have another look] around Redfeather Isle?'

You say, 'I can have another look.'

Beal the Minstrel says 'Johnny said he heard music on the western islets of Redfeather. The way he described it, it could have been chirping possibly, but it could also be whistling. Start your search there and watch out for the natives.'

You have been assigned the task 'Finding a Way to Understand.'

With the return of the jeweled box, Beal is sure that Redfeather is the island referred to in the Windsong lyrics. However, he has now realized that he will need to understand the strange language of the aviaks to progress further in his quest to learn the Windsong.

He has sent you to speak to Johnny the Black Crow for more information. Johnny was aware of a creature referred to as a 'crabman', that supposedly resides on Redfeather Island, that has the ability to understand any language. Once again, your quest to uncover the mystery of the Windsong takes you back to the aviak island. Get a ticket to Redfeather Isle from Dockmaster Angus and board the ship Isabeau.

Speak to Johnny the Black Crow 0/1 (The Buried Sea)

"Johnny the Black Crow" (click for map image) is located on the southwestern corner of Jardel's Hook (/loc -1665, 3270).

You say, 'Hail, Johnny the Black Crow'

Johnny the Black Crow says 'For the love of old Teach, haven't you heard that 'hail' isn't the proper way to address a pirate? What, Beal sent you over, eh? And no doubt he still wants to know how to speak to the aviaks. It's another mystery held by that mysterious Redfeather island. This might be nothing but an old crone's tale, but I've heard a legend of a crabman who could comprehend many languages. You might try to catch him and see if you can divine his secret.'

Purchase tickets to Redfeather Isle and catch the boat 0/1 (The Buried Sea)

Buy a "Seafarer's Ticket: Redfeather Isle" from Dockmaster Angus at the dock (nearby) and keep it in your inventory. When the ship docks, step onto it and wait for it to sail out to the Buried Sea. Upon zoning, you'll find yourself in an instanced version of the island. (Next to you is a rowboat that serves as your zone-out.)

Dockmaster Angus says 'You look like you've been at sea on a dangerous mission for a while? Perhaps you plan to head back out, in which case you're going to need to purchase another ticket before boarding the Isabeau.'

Kill the regrua seaskimmers 0/10 (Redfeather Isle)

Mobs called "a regrua seaskimmer" are found along and off the eastern coast of the main island. These mobs hit for a max ~1,750, flurry, and are stunnable and mezzable. Upon killing the last one, you see:

From the eastern waters of Redfeather Isle, a hulking aquatic creature scrambles toward the shore, flanked by two equally intimidating guardians.

Defeat the pair of regrua guardians 0/2 (Redfeather Isle)

The regrua guardians hit for a max ~1,700 and each have ~100,000 hitpoints. They are immune to mez, but can be stunned.

Defeat the Regrua Chieftain 0/1 (Redfeather Isle)

"The Regruan Chieftain" hits for a max ~1,700; flurries; has ~140,000 hitpoints; and flees at low health. It is immune to mez, but can be stunned.

Loot the Conch of Understanding 0/1 (Redfeather Isle)

    The Chieftain drops this item.

Deliver the Conch of Understanding to Johnny the Black Crow 0/1 (The Buried Sea)

With the conch of understanding, you will be able to understand the aviaks' language. You should return to Beal at once!
