You say, 'Hail, Torchbearing Spirit'

Torchbearing Spirit speaks with a faint sense of sadness in his voice, 'I can see the glimmer of hope in your eye, _____. I feel bad for you, but I will not stop you. It is unfair to stop the ant before it has fulfilled its duties and ultimately meaningless, as there will always be another drone marching behind them. It appears Glask and Napth are waiting for you at [The Rebirth], though your work in [The Threshold] does not yet appear complete.

You say, 'The Rebirth?'

Torchbearing Spirit says 'Steel your resolve and stare deeply into the torch-flames then speak the words [I am ready]. That should suffice as a relocation ritual.'

You say, 'I am ready!'

LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
You have entered Heart of Fear: The Rebirth.

Summary

- Ahead of the zone-in, you'll see Cazic-Thule encased in crystal. Destroy the crystal supports around this structure.
--- There is no risk in doing this; can be done solo.
--- Upon the destruction of the last support, everything and everyone falls into the pit.

- Say "free" to Harbinger Glask to trigger the event.
--- There is a short delay between trigger word and the spawn of the first wave of mobs.

- You'll have to kill five waves of mobs within 18 minutes:
--- Wave 1: Spawns shortly after trigger (0:00 for timing purposes).
--- Wave 2: Spawns 3 minutes after the first wave.
--- Wave 3: Spawns 6 minutes after the first wave.
--- Wave 4: Spawns 9 minutes after the first wave.
--- Wave 5: Spawns 12 minutes after the first wave.
------ This leaves you with 6 minutes to kill any remaining mobs.

- Mob types, abilities, and recommended DPS:
- "a life leech"
--- kite these to death
- "a bloodspine worm"
--- use "Lossbane Fiendshard" (from "a brittle fiend" death) to dispell the DS from the worms
- "a mirrorshell crawler"
--- kite these over the roots spawned upon "a cursed bloodsipper" deaths (roots in place; strips reflection)
- "a brittle fiend"
--- vulnerable to caster DPS; mitigates some melee
- "a nettling extractor"
--- vulnerable to caster DPS; mitigates some melee
- "a capricious mephit"
--- vulnerable to caster DPS; mitigates most melee
- "a virulent pest"
--- vulnerable to melee DPS
- "a cursed bloodsipper"
--- vulnerable to melee DPS
- "an engorged bloodsipper"
--- vulnerable to melee DPS
- "a chaos caller"
--- casts an AE stun; vulnerable to all DPS
- "an infected thrall"
--- charmable; mezzable; let this mob die while charmed
- Recuso (each has their own unique name)
--- does not need to be killed to win the event; charmable; mezzable; instant respawn upon death

Before the Event

You say, 'Hail, Harbinger Glask'

Harbinger Glask says 'I knew our faith would be rewarded! We must shatter this crystal prison and free the Faceless to restore the pantheon! This is no time for cowards and turncoats. If you wish to [leave] say it now and begone from my sight!'

Attack the crystal supports surrounding the encased Cazic-Thule:

Harbinger Glask shouts, 'That's it! Shatter the prison and release the Faceless.'

Your allies seem oblivious to the small cracks forming in the delicate walkway as they continue to hack away at the fear shard.

As you kill the last one:

The jovial fervor of your allies peaks as the final crystalline support shatters. You breathe heavily, a sigh of relief as the crystal shards fall to the ground. Your elation leaves you weightless, until the screams of your allies knock the cold truth of your situation into your mind. You are falling...

Harbinger Glask stands and addresses the party, 'Is everyone all right?'

The wounded lift themselves off the ground and murmur quietly. Only Sam appears unable to stand.

Harbinger Glask places her hand upon the crystalline prison, 'Can you [feel] that?'

Your raid now finds itself in the pit below the zone-in. Speak with Harbinger Glask again once you're ready to begin the event.

Triggering the Event

You say, 'Hail, Harbinger Glask'

Harbinger Glask appears nervous, 'Do you [feel] it? It's as if the Faceless himself cowers in terror to this alien god.'

You say, 'I feel it...'

Harbinger Glask appears to be looking at the walls behind you as she speaks, 'These leeches suckle upon the remnants of our god's power, soon there will be nothing left of him. We must [free] the Faceless before Xaric's influence grows any stronger. That is, unless you want to [leave]. This would be your last chance, unless you plan on taking Napth's way out...'

You say, 'How do we free him?'

Harbinger Glask's words are cut short as the room begins to shake.

The crystalline walls contort and shift into colossal faces.

Feelings of loss begin to slow you down.

The faces speak in a unified voice, 'Harbingers, you cling to antiquities, relics of a dead age. You believe fear is Faceless, but you shall learn that true fear is unspeakable.'

The faces bellow, 'Children of the Unspoken, I command you to rise and feast upon the meal your god has delivered unto you!'

Harbinger Glask kneels before the crystal and calls out, 'You must cut down these beasts before they strip what little power Cazic has left!'

Event Timer

The event timer begins the moment the first wave of mobs appears.

At 0:00
- 12 mobs spawn
- "Curse of Loss" zone effect

At 3:00
- 12 mobs spawn
- "Curse of Death" zone effect

At 6:00
- 13 mobs spawn
- "Curse of Suffering" zone effect

At 9:00
- 16 mobs spawn
- "Curse of the Void" zone effect

At 12:00
- 15 mobs spawn
- "Curse of Loss" zone effect

At 15:00
- No mobs spawn
- "Curse of Death" zone effect

At 18:00
- If the event is still active at this point, it fails and resets (all mobs despawn).

As the event timer ticks down, you'll see these emotes:

Thunderous groaning fills the hall. The body of Thule is growing weaker. You have 10 minutes to destroy the remaining creatures.

The shadowy form of Cazic-Thule seems to spasm within the crystal prison. You have 5 minutes to destroy the remaining creatures.

Harbinger Glask winces and calls out fearfully, 'The leeches have nearly drained him dry. You must hurry!' You have 3 minutes to destroy the remaining creatures.

The hideous faces begin to laugh at your pathetic efforts. You have 1 minute to destroy the remaining creatures.

And if the timer runs out (resetting the event):

The body of Cazic-Thule withers and dies in its crystal prison. You have failed to stop the creatures of Phantasm from draining his remaining power in time.

Zone Effects

Depending on the event timer, one of four zone-wide effects will always be active (see the section above this one for which effects occur at which times):

Curse of Loss: (affects tanks the most)
- decreases all stats by 400
- decreases melee mitigation by 10%
- negates damage shield effects

Curse of Death: (affects caster DPS the most)
- increase mana cost of detrimental spells by 20%
- decreases stats by 400
- negates critical DOT effects

Curse of Suffering: (affects healers the most)

- decreases stats by 400

Curse of the Void: (affects melee DPS the most)
- decrease stats by 400
- decrease damage modifiers by 20%
- negate critical damage effects
- negate flurry chance effects

Up to 12 people at a time can be entirely negate these effects by standing in a protective aura. These protective auras are located at the four large crystals around the room (click for example).

Protection of Loss - southeast crystal
Protection of Death - southwest crystal
Protection of Suffering - northeast crystal
Protection of the Void - northwest crystal

Event Failure

If the event is left idle, you'll see these two emotes (apart from one another, with the second being the reset emote):

The projections of Phantasm gain power as their minions are left unattended.

The body of Cazic-Thule withers and dies in its crystal prison. You have left Phantasm's minions unattended for too long.

Event Completion

60 mobs must be killed in order to win the event. Upon the death of the last mob:

As the final projections of fear fall silent, the crazed hunters vanish into nothingness. A loud crash is heard as the room shakes. It appears a mass of crystal containing an assortment of armaments has fallen from the ceiling next to Glask.

Glask looks perplexed, 'The aspects of Phantasm's power are dead but the reborn body of our god remains paralyzed...'

The visage of suffering speaks as it vanishes from sight, 'This worthless husk that your allies so graciously threw away their lives to recover is but a soulless vessel. The antiquities you cling to are a dying memory. Norrath shall soon know that 'we' are fear.'

Glask looks on in abject horror as the body of Cazic-Thule falls within its crystal prison.

The visage of loss seems to revel in Glask's horror before its form fades from view, 'Your tithes of blood and tears serve the master well. We await your inevitable martyrdom upon alis altar.'

The visage of the void fades from sight in silence.

The visage of death looks upon the withered body of Cazic-Thule, 'It is time. Carry your fallen and put an end to this charade. Al awaits...'

Glask swings her leg back then delivers a dreadful kick directly to Sam's jaw which wakes him from his unconsciousness instantly.

Sam Napth looks around the room somewhat confused. He speaks with a slight lisp as it appears he has bitten through part of his own tongue, 'Didsh we winsh?'

Glask's voice is uncharacteristically shaken as she glares down at the halfling with rage in her eyes, 'So help me, by the memory of Thule, if you have lead us to the slaughter with nothing to show, I will drive my blade so far down your bowels that the memory of your evisceration will be the only thing any of your illegitimate spawn shall ever associate with your damned name!'

Sam Napth appears surprisingly unshaken by her threats, 'I am sthure that sthe key to Xaric's dethfeat isth just ahead...'

Glask snarls her lip and contemplates the worth of keeping her sword unstained by halfling blood. She addresses your party, 'We will march upon the usurper's lair shortly. Take this time to prepare, [leave] and return ready if you must...'

You say, 'Hail, Harbinger Glask'

Harbinger Glask says 'We will march upon the usurper's lair shortly. Take this time to prepare, [leave] and return ready if you must.'
