This group mission begins with the guard of the depths in the Heart of Fear: The Rebirth (middle level). It's found at location 20, -435, -635 (at the very bottom of the pit in the center of the zone; east side). Pre-Requisites: - Level 85 - Completed "Lost Harbingers" - Completed "Channeling Cazic" - Completed "Growing Fear" - Completed "The Heart of Fear" You say, 'Hail, the guard of the depths' the guard of the depths says 'By the will of the Silent Herald, I am here to make certain the more [dangerous creatures] remain below so they do not harm our people.' You say, 'What dangerous creatures?' the guard of the depths says 'It appears I have failed. Menace, Doom, and Horror are coming. The most powerful and oldest apparitions of fear. And they are hungry. I cannot stop them myself. I will need your help. I am sure you can appreciate our common interests. If they are not stopped, they will kill all of us. Are you [ready] to assist me?' You have been assigned the task 'Menace, Doom, and Horror'. Menace, Doom, and Horror are coming. The oldest, most sentient apparitions of the Heart of Fear, they are rapidly growing in power with all the new sources of energy for them to consume in the Heart of Fear. They must be destroyed in order to make further progress and revive Cazic. However, the vile crystal inside of you continues to torment your mind. You need to put it out of your mind for now and push on. You say, 'Ready!' the guard of the depths says 'I hope so. If you are not, we will all pay the price. And that cannot happen yet.' LOADING, PLEASE WAIT... You have entered Heart of Fear. Hail the Guard of the Depths 0/1 (Heart of Fear) After you hail the guard, a non-aggro samhain called "Menace" appears and walks towards the platform ahead of the zone-in. On the platform are mobs called "a believer". Menace will approach these mobs one at a time and, from them, spawn 2x "an apparition of fear" (click for map image) which auto-aggro you (each hit for a max ~10,000; mezzable; stunnable). You say, 'Hail, the guard of the depths' the guard of the depths says 'Menace has broken through! The apparitions of fear are coming. They'll overwhelm us!' The Silent Herald shouts, 'Menace, one of the greatest horrors of this place. I suppose, now is the time. Feed as you need to.' A giant samhain called "Menace" appears and begins attacking the Alaran believers in the area. Defend the passageway to the depths by killing the apparitions 0/12 (Heart of Fear) Task Window Says: Defend the passageway by defeating apparitions. Menace is apparently distracted by eating believers. For each Alaran believer eaten by Menace, 2x "an apparition of fear" spawn and auto-aggro your group. These are mezzable and each hit for a max ~10,000. As you kill these mobs, the Silent Herald will be emoting its approval of Menace: The Silent Herald shouts, 'Yes, continue to feed! The Unspoken will only benefit.' The Silent Herald shouts, 'Such a magnificent power. A true embodiment of fear.' The Silent Herald shouts, 'Grow in power. The Unspoken wills it.' The Silent Herald shouts, 'You will only be more fulfilling for the Unpsoken when you are consumed, Menace.' The Silent Herald shouts, 'The power is incredible!' Upon the deaths of the last apparitions, the Silent Herald meets with an unfortunate fate: The Silent Herald is devoured by Menace! Menace vanishes into a dark mist. From here, you can head up the spiral ramp and to the top side of the pit. "a Harbinger contact" will let you know what's going on: You say, 'Hail, a Harbinger contact' a Harbinger contact says 'Those horrible apparitions of fear. The terror they inspire in me is divine, as if Cazic-Thule himself has blessed me. Still, they are not Cazic-Thule, and they are killing our people. I cannot contact Glask at the moment, Harbinger Iska is on the way, and we do not have the power to stop them. We turn to you for assistance. We have guards at the halls, each one keeping watch on Horror, Doom, and Menace.' Task Window Says: The Harbingers have arrived. There is a contact who addressed you at the top of the ramp in the chamber. Speak to the Harbinger guards at each corridor to hunt down Menace, Doom, and Horror. Optional Nameds Task Window Says: A rogue Harbinger challenging Glask's authority is on the loose. If you put an end to her, the Harbingers may give you an additional reward. She is hiding in one of the tunnels the Harbingers are not guarding. Task Window Says: A mad believer is causing serious damage to the Harbingers, and is apparantly uncontrollable even by the Herald. Defeat this individual hiding in one of the tunnels the Harbingers are not guarding and the Harbingers will likely be grateful. There are two optional nameds in the northwest wing. Each one killed adds an additional item to the final loot chest: - "The Mad Believer" (click for map image) --- Spawns two adds --- Casts "Zealot's Blades", random single-target stun+nuke for 37,000 dmg "The Rogue Harbinger" (click for map image) --- Casts "Renegade's Tackle", random single-target knockback+nuke for 28,000 dmg --- Casts "Fervor of the Unspoken", self-heal for 15,000 hp Speak to the Harbinger guard outside the corridor to Horror 0/1 (Heart of Fear) The "Horror" portion of this task takes place in the southeast wing (click for map image). You say, 'Hail, a Harbinger guard' a Harbinger guard says 'I've seen Horror down this corridor. Stopping it will not be easy.' Destroy the gestation crystals before Horror consumes them 0/5 (Heart of Fear) Kill the gestation crystals in the southeast wing (note: these hit back for a max ~13,500). If you take too long in killing these crystals, adds spawn from them. Defeat Horror 0/1 (Heart of Fear) Horror casts "Shield of Fear" (self resist/AC buff) and "Horror's Grip" (random single-target knockback + stun + nuke for 22,000). Shield of Fear: Self 0', Unresistable (0) 1: Increase Magic Resist by 150 2: Increase AC by 30 3: Increase Disease Resist by 150 4: Increase Poison Resist by 150 5: Increase Fire Resist by 100 6: Increase Cold Resist by 100 Horror's Grip: Single Target, (-190) 1: Decrease Hitpoints by 22000 2: Stun (3.00 sec) Speak to the Harbinger guard outside the corridor to Doom 0/1 (Heart of Fear) The "Doom" portion of the task takes place in the southwest wing (click for map image). You say, 'Hail, a Harbinger guard' a Harbinger guard says 'Doom is past here. Such a sight. I do not think I could survive a moment with it.' Destroy the gestation crystals and apparitions fleeing Doom 0/5 (Heart of Fear) Same as above, except if you take too long with the crystals, they start AEing damage. Defeat Doom 0/1 (Heart of Fear) Doom casts "Shield of Fear" (self resist/AC buff) and "Touch of Doom" (random single target knockback + stun + DOT for 4,000/tick for 8 ticks). Shield of Fear: Self 0', Unresistable (0) 1: Increase Magic Resist by 150 2: Increase AC by 30 3: Increase Disease Resist by 150 4: Increase Poison Resist by 150 5: Increase Fire Resist by 100 6: Increase Cold Resist by 100 Touch of Doom: Single Target, Disease (-900) 1: Decrease Hitpoints by 4000 per tick 2: Stun (0.00 sec) Speak to the Harbinger guard outside the corridor to Menace 0/1 (Heart of Fear) The "Menace" portion of the task takes place in the northeast wing (click for map image). NOTE: The task locks as soon as you hail the Harbinger guard outside Menace's corridor. You say, 'Hail, a Harbinger guard' a Harbinger guard says 'Menace is down here. After seeing what it did to the Believers, the fear in me is exquisite.' Defeat believers and fragments of Menace 0/5 (Heart of Fear) Kill the believer and fragment mobs en route to Menace. Defeat Menace 0/1 (Heart of Fear) Menace spawns timed adds, and casts "Shield of Fear" (self resist/AC buff) and "Frightful Menace" (100' range PBAE knockback + nuke for 23,000). Shield of Fear: Self 0', Unresistable (0) 1: Increase Magic Resist by 150 2: Increase AC by 30 3: Increase Disease Resist by 150 4: Increase Poison Resist by 150 5: Increase Fire Resist by 100 6: Increase Cold Resist by 100 Frightful Menace: Area Hate List 100', Disease (-900) 1: Decrease Hitpoints by 23000 Consult with Harbinger Iska 0/1 (Heart of Fear) Task Window Says: Harbinger Iska has finally arrived. Discuss what has happened with her at the top layer. Upon the death of the last named (as above), Harbinger Iska spawns on the north side overlooking the pit (click for map image). You say, 'Hail, Harbinger Iska' Harbinger Iska says 'You think you've defeated them? If only it were that easy. Things are worse than even Glask anticipated. Still, this is an opportunity as well. Glask has informed me we can use this power to resurrect Cazic-Thule! Menace, Doom, and Horror have escaped you and are killing the rest of the Harbingers. I believe I can lure them out with these tainted Cazic Shards that Glask provided me. I can keep them bound to the chamber below and weakened, but you will have to finish them off. I hope you are ready, because they are coming.' Defeat Horror 0/1 (Heart of Fear) Defeat Doom 0/1 (Heart of Fear) Defeat Menace 0/1 (Heart of Fear) Task Window Says: Protect the Harbingers and destroy Menace, Doom, and Horror. These mobs's "true forms" spawn in the pit (same abilities as above). They are not aggro-linked, so can be engaged one at a time. Report to Harbinger Iska 0/1 (Heart of Fear) Task Window Says: You've defeated the powerful apparitions. Consult with Iska. You say, 'Hail, Harbinger Iska' Harbinger Iska says 'So now the power of Cazic-Thule is within you. A true shame it could not have been one of us, but I suppose it was not meant to be. Now, we will ressurect Cazic-Thule. I have some equipment here that Harbinger Glask wanted you to have. Consider it a token of our thanks.' Retrieve the equipment Harbinger Iska has gathered for you 0/1 (Heart of Fear) Menace, Doom, and Horror are now dead. All that remains is to do what the Harbingers of Thule failed and revive Cazic-Thule. And continue to resist the power inside you.
