Find Gavel the Temperant in the Temple of Solusek Ro.

Hail, Gavel the The Temperant

Gavel the Temperant says "May the fires of Solusek Ro warm your innards! I am Gavel the Temperant. I work with sister Blaize to forge the most elegant finery for clerics known to man or beast. Because we have no need for material wealth here in the temple, we ask that you retrieve [ingots and icons] from the lost or fallen brothers and sisters of our order. When mixed with some enchanted, [galvanized], [vulcanized], or [magnetized] platinum into an alloy, the items I can forge are splendid indeed!'

No matter what links you click, he does not mention the Icon and Ingot of Sacrament.

Say "Sacrament."

Gavel the Temperant says "The Ingot and icon of Sacrament are believed to be just legend, but I sometimes dream of what I could forge with them and 2 magnetized platinum bars!"

He needs an Ingot and Icon of Sacrament and two bars of magnetized platinum (give enchanted platinum to Ostorm for this).

The Icon of Sacrament is a groundspawn in Mistmoore in the middle jail cell, loc -70, 283, -234

The Ingot of Sacrament is dropped by a Giant Skeleton in the ruins in Rathe Mountains (-600, -1600). This skeleton is a darker color than the ones that normally spawn at the ruins.

Give two enchanted bars of platinum to Ostorm to receive the two magnetized bars.

Turn the Icon of the Sacrament, Ingot of the Sacrament, and TWO Magnetized Platinum Bars in to Gavel the Temperant.

Gavel the Temperant says "It is an honor to forge such a weapon. Wield it with pride!"

He needs an Ingot and Icon of Sacrament and two bars of magnetized platinum (give enchanted platinum to Ostorm for this).

Once the four items are turned in:

Gavel the Temperant says "It is an honor to forge such a weapon. Wield it with pride!"

Awarded the weapon only, no faction or experience.

The Icon of Sacrament is a ground spawn Mistmoore in the middle jail cell.

The Ingot of Sacrament is dropped by a Giant Skeleton in the ruins in Rathe Mountains (-600, -1600). This skeleton is a darker color than the ones that normally spawn at the ruins.

Thanks, added. I have conflicting reports as to where the Icon of the Sacrament spawns. Are you by chance playing on Ragefire/Lockjaw which don't (as of this writing) have LDoN unlocked? Perhaps the spawn gets moved out to Lesser Faydark at that time.

The icon is no longer a ground spawn in Lesser Faydark - along with the restoration of Mistmoore to it's previous state, the Icon of Sacrament is back in the Mistmoore jail area, inside the middle cell - it looks like a doll that has been dropped there.

This post is absolutely correct. It made no sense that they would take the time to change the location so I ran around the LFay area for a few minutes.....It was in the middle say like it says.

If you go in through the graveyard it's a quick grab. This item is only useful if you are doing a progression type run and are **** retentive about questing....which I am.

And what about Ytyrs ..?

I can't believe nobody has brought him up yet, but I guess he is a newer addition.

His name is Ytyrs the Reborn, and if you're lucky, you'll find him alone - if not, he can be surrounded by undead minions, going from 1, 2, to 6 of them at once.

He is at the camp, and -can- easily be avoided, but if you're lower level and run afoul of him, my suggestion is to cast Divine Aura/Barrier and run for zone.

Ytyrs is a Shadowman necromancer, dark blue to a level 38 cleric - and true to his name, he will resurrect immediately after death.

You -cannot- bring him away from his minions. He will summon them to his side, once he reaches critical health levels, from anywhere in the zone, I believe. Haven't tested it fully.

As a Shadowman, he runs faster than SoW speed, and he casts necromantic spells.

Try to battle him, and you're dealing with Ytyrs, plus his reborn self, and possibly an unknown amount of minion adds.

To anyone asking me why I am bothering with this quest ... because I love them. And yes, I am aware of how little use the weapon is, and that I can buy better, much cheaper in the Bazaar. Thank you =)
MQ this for an alt

I MQed this yesterday for an alt on the same account. My main(52 Paladin) has no trouble getting the ingredients for the quest, but my low level cleric cannot get them solo. So, what I did was aquire both ingot and icon with my paladin, turn them in to Gavel, log out of my paladin, log on to my cleric, which I already had in the temple of sol ro, and have her hand in the bars of magnetized platinum, and recieved the shield.

My paladin has amiably faction, and my cleric has indifferent. The time frame between paladin log out and cleric log in is was short. I am not sure how long you would have before the quest resets, perhaps till someone else turns something in to Gavel.

These quests may no longer be "worth" the time and effort, since it is easier to buy something in the bazaar, but they are very fun. Having a complete set to show off to your friends, or attend guild meetings with is neat. Especially if you have an aversion to armor dyes and want to look nice.

Anyway, just thought I would share my experience. Good luck to all atempting this quest.

You wonder why the last post is in 2001? Well, the weapon just isn't worth it now that there's the Bazaar in Luclin. For the cost of the 2 plat bars (say 150pp each for a real non-twink like myself totaling 300pp), you could get a way better Wep.

I ended up finding a bargin at the Bazaar one late night. Sap of Piety (13/36) for 75pp. Really close to the same stats as the wep this quest results in.

Buy something better. . . .don't spend 5+ hours doing this quest or begging high levels to help you out.

Can't even sell the wep when you get another since it's nodrop.

Only get this if you feel the need to have a complete set of cerimonial armor for GM events.

Yet another person who doesn't get the point of the game...

Everquest is about fun, about challenges, about setting goals and achieving them. The point isn't the material reward you get, it's the quest itself.

So you can farm some giants and go buy all the best weapons and armor in bazaar. So what? What does that get you? You did NOTHING. Sure, you look cool, with a bunch of technicolor electrons floating around a ficticious avatar. Are you here to play, or just to impress your friends?

I hope the people that come here for information about challenging quests that they want to do for armor and weapons appropriate for their levels don't get discouraged by all the nitwits who are always screaming "It isn't worth it," because all they have in mind is the endgame.

Hello, may seem like a dumb question but when the explanation says: (give enchanted platinum to Ostrum for this)

what exactly does it mean? who the heck do I give to who..should I give all the items to the same person? please help as I don't want to be giving plat bars and such like only to hear the NPC say "hmm..not sure what to do with this but...thanks!!!"

Any help is appreciated!

thanks

You give 1 bar of enchanted platinum to the npc. Ostrum will magnetize the bar and give it back to you. There are other npc's that alter the enchanted bars for different quests.

in mistmoore i got into a graveyard group..when opening the jail cell one of the "prisoners casts a few 250hpts on our tank..i peeked inside and there it was on the floor..its a purple doll.
let me back up and say that you open all cells by opening one of the cell doors..dont get locked inside...then to Rathe
In Rathe wait for the Dark Brown 'A giant skeleton'..it took me about 2 hours..then off to the jeweler and get two plat bars (100pp each) and find a enchanter to enchant them then off to Temple of Solusek Ro.
in temple of sol ro ...not sol eye!!! look for Orstorm..check faction..mine was indifferent (after i killed about 30 shadowed men ; i was apprehensive..hehe.) give him bars one at a time ..make sure you got a empty slot..take both bars and give them to Gavel ; one per slot , along with the lore items and taadahh!!

I was recently lucky enough to have my 22 lvl cleric walk into the jail in Mistmore with a camoflouge and loot the item and have time to gate out with out so much as a scratch. Lucky I quess. So I decided to push my luck and run to Rathe Mnts. (I stopped in South Karana to lvl a little, hehe.)
I zone into Rathe Mnts. and try to find my way. Ok I'm a bit lost but eventually find my way. One problem every where I ran I saw giants ready to pound the tar out of me. I got by with an invisibility (thnx lone caster)and made it to the coords given above. I saw giant skels now blue and even conn to me. I also LOTS of GIANTS running around.
I want to know how people avoided the giants and camped the skeletons?

Camp up to the left of the spawn (i.E. the hill) pull to their. As a side note the giants and barbbone kill each other so you may want to sit and watch, but be sure to kill the barb is the darker giant skele pops.

I agree this is a good weapon for your 20s but loses it's usefullness. In retrospect I regret the amount of time (and deaths) I used to get it. After lvl 29 you lose almost all opportunity to melee and become a healing mana machine. I used my caduceus for a couple months until I replaced it with a wis based weapon, so now it's sitting in the bank where it's been since. The worse thing is you can't even sell it to recupe something for the time and effort used to aquire it.
Just my opinion

I found and killed the dark bone GS for fun not knowing what it dropped. As a 46 druid I now have the Ingot of Sacrament. I have a 19 cleric friend who could use the Caduceous. Can I turn in the Ingot and Icon and have him turn in the magnetized plat to get the Caduceous?
RE: Can this item be multiquested?
# May 09 2001 at 12:55 PM Rating: Default
Yes, it can.

Have your Cleric friend get teh Icon from Mistomoore and the magnetized platinum bar. You turn in the ingot first and your friend immediately afterwards gives the Icon and the Bar. The Cleric will then be given the Caduceous.

Dark colored Giant skeleton is level 30(a bit higher than normal one).
I donno how often it spawns, but i camped there about 20 hours in total. I did it solo, then i think i could get it less time if i did with some ppl.
The more you clear up other undeads, the less time you can get it in.

Soloed the camp for exp when I was level 27 and 28. This thing spawned twice, in about 4 hours. The first time, it tore me up solo so I called in a level 32 druid friend, and we killed it with no difficulty. Second time it spawned, I left it alone.

Spawned in the middle of the camp both times.

I've got the Ingot and figured the hard part was over but I've been looking for the Icon. Unfortunately, I'm not high enough level to sit in the jail. But I've been looking for like 5 hours and still no look.
RE: Icon
# Feb 17 2001 at 4:26 PM Rating: Decent
I found the item not in the middle of the floor but istead hiding inside of one of the cells. I was invisible at the time and even picked up the item and walked away without setting off the critters there. Once I knew where to look it is quite simple to get. I suggest you print a map and look at the jail room closely. You will notice 3 secret doors connected to the room.

The one that leads to the room from the graveyard is the one I used to enter the room. If you follow the right wall after entering the jail room you will find another secret wall a very short distance from the one you entered from...this leads to a nice little room with no critters in it. At least I never saw a critter the entire time I was there. You can go to this room to gate out of mistmoore without critters seeing you.

Once in the jail just open the one door. Be sure you are ready for pain if you are not invis...because this opens all the doors in the room and the three other doors have a critter behind each of them. I am told by several people that the icon can be in the center of the jail room or in one of the cells...

I was invis when I did this part myself. I was careful not to set into the cell inself because once the door closes you are STUCK inside the cell. I just picked up the item...went back to the little room I found and gated out of mistmoore...all done...

Here's how to do this quest
# Sep 26 2000 at 1:03 PM Rating: Default
The icon is on the floor in the MM jail, that part's easy. Just don't go locking yourself in there :) On the wall with 2 "cells", it's in the left-hand-side cell - looks like a little purple doll on the floor just to the right of the mob's feet (if there's a mob in there)). Just invis up & sow, bolt in there, open the doors and grab it.

The ingot is also pretty easy, you just gotta be patient and of the appropriate lvl. I did this easily w/ me (32 cleric) and a 31 druid, we barely broke a sweat and didn't even kite it. Go to loc -588 -1590 in rathe mountains. This puts you in a little hill by the ruins. Now face the ruins. There's a bunch of spawns all over the place, but there are 3 "middle" spawns that pop in a somewhat traingular pattern around the center leaning post of the runis. From the loc on the hill, you can see 2 of these "middle" spawns, which are right next to each other on the left side the leaning post, and you can't see the one behind the leaning post. I was keeping just these 3 spots cleared out. The dark colored "a giant skeleton" spawned after about 3 ph's (roughly 15 / 20 minutes of camping) in one of the spots you can see from the loc on the hill, the one furthest away from you (closest to the wall). Pulled it solo and proceeded to nuke the bejesus out of it (it does have a considerable amount of hp, but nothing too insane, maybe 2k hp or so). It did not run, so prepare to fight to the death. If you're in your low 30's I recommend bringing a friend, as it tends to be kinda magic resistant (lots of partial resists on my undead spell), however it sucked down druid's combust every time.

Getting the Ingot
# Sep 03 2000 at 9:51 AM Rating: Default
The ingot drops from a giant skeleton much darker than the others at the ruins (not the tower) in the southern area of Rathe Mountains.

We wasted an hour or two killing every spawn (About a dozen cycles), and then tried a new strategy. We killed all the undead present EXCEPT the giant skeletons. When we had about 5 giant skeletons up, the dark giant skeleton showed himself.

Take out any skeletal monks or barbed boned skeletons first, as they tend to want to kill the giant skeletons. Once there are two or more giant skeletons, any of these competing mobs will be defeated, protecting your progress toward the dark giant skeleton.

(It took about 15 minutes with this strategy.)

Note: A high 30's character can pull from the ruins without any of the other mobs training along. Very convenient if you can arrange it.
RE: Getting the Ingot
# Dec 18 2000 at 4:48 PM Rating: Default
This strategy along with keeping the center skellies clear seems to work. Keep the outer skellies as giant skellies and have a high level pull (with either a bow or spell) the center. We got the giant dark skelly to spawn about 10 min after setting it up (we had about 6 giant skellies on the outside area, dark skelly spawned in the middle for us). Good luck :)
