You need the ingot and icon of Constant and 2 bars of galvanized platinum (give enchanted platinum to Genni for this). The icon is found on an aqua goblin named Sludge in runnyeye. The ingot is found on Dwigus in Dagnor's Cauldron.

Find Gavel the Temperant in the Temple of Solusek Ro.

You say, 'Hail, Gavel the The Temperant'

Gavel the Temperant says "May the fires of Solusek Ro warm your innards! I am Gavel the Temperant. I work with sister Blaize to forge the most elegant finery for clerics known to man or beast. Because we have no need for material wealth here in the temple, we ask that you retrieve [ingots and icons] from the lost or fallen brothers and sisters of our order. When mixed with some enchanted, [galvanized], [vulcanized], or [magnetized] platinum into an alloy, the items I can forge are splendid indeed!'

You say, "ingots and icons"

Gavel the Temperant says "The ingots and icons are all named after the virtues of the cleric who held them. The virtues I require are those of the [reverant], the [constant], and the [devout]."

You say, "constant"

Gavel the Temperant says "Althuryn the Constant was brutally slain by two aqua goblins. The one called Sludge fled to Runnyeye, the one called Dwigus lives in Dagnor's Cauldron. Bring me the ingot of the Constant, the icon of the Constant and 2 galvanized platinum bars and I will forge them into a reward for you."

Dwigus Lowater is a wandering mob in Dagnor's Cauldron.

Sludge Dankmire is a static mob at the bottom of Runnyeye. You need to swim to the end of the slugde river and you will see an underwater passageway. Sludge is located at the end of that passageway.

Give 2 enchanted platinum bars to Genni in Temple of Solusek Ro and she will return 2 galvanized platinum bars.

Turn in the Ingot of the Constant, Icon of the Constant, and TWO Galvanized Platinum Bars to Gavel.

Gavel the Temperant says "Wear this with pride!"

You receive: Chestplate of the Constant.

Updated, thanks for all the details!
Sludge in Runnyeye
# Nov 07 2004 at 8:15 PM Rating: Decent
You can also get to the Sludge dude by diving down the middle of a star shaped fountain donw on teh bottom lvl. He is right under there. Then swim straight up again.

For that matter you may be able to target him and cast or sick the pet on him to draw him out.

Just another way to get him.

Found the guy in Daugnors by accident. He was next to the dwarven thief merchant.

The guy in Runneye is deep in the underwater tunnel so best to swim there, hit once and swim back out.

Bought the bars of platinum for 100 pp each from a jewellry merchant and got an enchanter to enchant them.

Handed the bars to the chick in the Temple one at a time.

Handed all four items to Gavel and got the armour !

At indifferent I was able to hail Gavel and speak of the various metals, but not the icons and ingots. After 2 hours of shadowmen slaying (with a group of 2 of us), I was still indifferent, but he would speak to me and the quest worked.. I guess you need high indifferent?

Dwingus swims around. I cast an enduring breath, swam after him and wooped him good -- part of the wooping being a dot spell. So off he swims in the murky water of night, his health meter drops to 0% and I get experience. But where is that corpse? Morale of the story: Lure him up onto land and root him or you'll be swimming round and round looking for his corpse in the deep dark waters of the Cauldren.

I was able to solo Sludge Dankmire at 29 (get invis potions and enduring breath potions) and I did Dwigus with a 29 enchanter, 30 sk, 30 cleric, and a 29 cleric(me).

In case anyone is wondering how difficult it is.
We were all untwinked (on VS server so not really possible to twink yet)

I read all the info here and then went straight to DC, expecting a long camp. Dwingus was up on Tracking as soon as I zoned in, so pulled him to a safe spot and kicked his *** solo as a 43 Ranger. Worth adding though that I did have to snare him, run and heal, then come back to finish him off. He is pretty tough.

Oh yes - why is a Ranger doing the quest? A gift for a Guildie is why 8)

Dwigus
# Jun 10 2002 at 4:50 PM Rating: Decent
Dwigus spawns in many spots and is an uncommon mob. He has no placeholders and spawns once every 4hrs 45mins. If not killed he stays up a couple of hrs before despawning.

He isn't a static spawn. He moves about the zone, mainly in the water. Bring a tracker if you want to have any hope of finding him.

My lvl 9 cleric was hunting in Crushbone, and a NPC named Lady Jen spawned asking for her stolen jewels returned. After whacking a few orcs, I recieved an earing as loot. Returned it to her, and recieved the chestplate as reward. I don't know if this is a common occurance, but it was a nice reward. Stats are cool for the lvl i'm at with the cleric.

congratulations! you just met a stealth GM event!
this is not a viable alternitive way, but it's still a warm and fuzzy feeling when something like that happens. cheers!

I waited near the NPC camp, which is mentioned in many posts as a possible spawn site, for about 3 hours and didn't see him. I don't have track and I would do a /who ranger /who druid every now and then and ask people if they saw Dwingus on track. Nada.

I came back the next night and waited around for about an hour, near the NPC camp again. Nada. Then someone asked for a rezz near the Unrest zone. While I was over there I met a 54 Ranger who was camping Bilge for the WIS staff. He said we could work together to find Dwingus and Bilge.

I camped the island, he camped the shore near NPC camp and gobbie tents. After about 1.5 hours, killing all the Tidal Lords and others, nada. He got tired and camped.

I stayed a little while longer and was about to camp when someone yelled, "Dwingus Up!". I sent a /tell asking to tell me where. He (I think a druid) snared Dwingus and brought him to me, using his track. What a nice guy!!!

Now...the bad part is I didn't see where he spawned, or whether he spawned in the area this guy ran into him, or just pathed there from other spawn site. It was near the BB zone, on the shore, on the right side, if you're looking at the BB zone (left side, coming in).

The ranger who helped me ealier said he'd been in there multiple times hunting Bilge and had seen Dwingus several times. He claimed that Dwingus spawns on the middle island and swims a path around the zone including the NPC area, the north shore by BB zone, and even Kedge down near the bottom of the lake, then despawns, only staying up for about 5 minutes or so.

So, unless you get lucky or have track, you'll HAVE to have someone help you, using track about every 2 minutes or so.

I can't confim whether killing the tidal lords and such had any effect on Dwingus's spawn.

The guy who ran into the zone and happened to see Dwingus, and did a /shout, then snared him and brought him to me...THAT made my day. Wish more people were so generous and helpful. /Cheer

Dwigus

Dwigus does seem to have a 2 hour spawn time, i took note of time after someone else killed him and asked location after explaining i was on a quest the person finally told me he spawned near NPC camp, went over there waited about 2 hours running around the npc camp and I finally saw him, his approx loc was pos102, pos294, just a little bit south of NPC camp. hope this helps(not sure if this is significant but he seemed to spawn both times after it what seemed to be a never ending rain storm)

Dwigus
# Feb 23 2002 at 8:43 PM Rating: Default
dwigus is NOT a PH. he is a seperate spawn that pops by killing a scalded rat. the rat is the one that run straight towards Conium Darkblade. Kill him and Dwigus pops in the middle of the sea somewhere. if you dont have track he'll fing you at the top of the island. eventually 8) Hope this helps.
to clear it up
# Jan 24 2002 at 2:07 PM Rating: Decent
to clear this up i just got the ingot of the constant off of dwigos in dalnirs cauldron or however you spell it..heh hes the PH for bilge farfathom and is on an 8hr times so you might want to get a snickers bar or 2. Oh and to help u he spawns near the fantastic 4 :)
Alternative to this BP
# Dec 27 2001 at 11:34 AM Rating: Decent
My cleric is using a Netherbian Chitin instead. Much easier to get, the same AC, weighs less. The stats are a little different, but about equally desirable. There's no wisdom or mana on it, but there isn't on this item either.

Netherbian Chitin is NOTHING like Chestplate of the Constant and is not a good substitute at all. For AC, maybe, but the focus effect on the Chestplate far outweighs anything that Netherbian Chitin has. It isn't even in the same class. If I had a Netherbian Chitin and decided to do the Chestplate quest, I'd ditch the Chitin as soon as I had the Chestplate in my hands. Chitin is garbage in comparison.

The Netherbian Chitlin (BP) drops of a Netherbian Swarm Leader, common drop. The Netherbian is a 30th level zone adjacent to the Nexus.

Kill shadowed men anywhere to raise Temple of Ro faction, or there is a quest to give a few pp at a time to a dude in sro nw corner at a camp.. info on that is listed in the sro quests lists im sure. I think it is random scroll or something.

I kept seeing him on track and actually found him inside a star shaped fountain in the middle of the pool outside the bank... he is inside the middle of the star, so you will have to get your feet wet to get to him.

I am currently doing this quest, and to answer the question about where Sludge Spawns, it is on the bottom floor of runnyeye, next to where the Lord spawns. ever time i ahve come across him he has been in the water.

all in all it took me 2 hrs to get both items with my 41 ranger. getting the pp for the Plat bars was the hard part.
