You need the ingot and icon of Ardent and 1 bar of galvanized platinum (give enchanted platinum to Genni for this).

You need to kill Boondin the Enslaved, a gnome necromancer on the third floor in Befallen (approx level 25), to get the icon. The ingot is found at the bottom of a river in Everfrost (loc 2996, -5711).

Blaize the Radiant says, 'Hail, faithful one. I am Blaize the Radiant. Brother Gavel and I are well known among clerics for our forging skills, but special payment is required for our services. Special [ingots and icons] given to our members have been lost, and we will reward whoever retrieves them for us'

You say 'What ingots and icons?'

Blaize the Radiant says, 'The ingots and icons are all named after the virtues of the cleric who held them.. The virtues I require are those of the [reliant], the [ardent], the [fervent] and the [penitent]'

You say 'The ardent?'

Blaize the Radiant says, 'Theo the Ardent was in constant conflict with a gnome necromancer in Befallen named Babbinsbort, but he never could defeat him. Poor Theo drowned on an expedition to Everfrost when the ice of the frozen river gave way beneath him. Bring me the Ingot of the Ardent, the Icon of the Ardent, and 1 galvanized platinum bar and I will forge them into a reward for you.'

I completed this quest today on Rizlona TLP during Classic era.

You still have to turn in the Galvanized Platinum Bar.

I handed in the icon and ingot, which did not complete the quest.

I ran upstairs and turned in my enchanted platinum bar, ran back downstairs, and turned in the galvanized platinum bar.

I was given the gauntlets without being given the galvanized platinum bar back.

The bar is still required.

Someone probably turned in 2 galvanized bars by mistake, inadvertently starting the quest again, and only requiring the next person (you) to hand in the icon and ingot for completion.

Here is the definitive source for in game accurate everquest lore. Compiled by my friend Sir Banegrivm Shadowblight, who raised two armies and won the battle of Bloody Kithicor in Beta on two servers.

Ingot works
# Jul 01 2002 at 12:46 PM Rating: Default
Just picked up the ingot at the location above and had no problems. I usually right click items to get them to auto-equip and I couldn't do that with this item. I left clicked and had no problems.

Needed enduring breath cast upon me as the hole in the ice is a long way from the spwan point!

Is anyone else having problems finding the Ingot at the bottom of the frozen river in Everfrost? I have been looking for quite a while, and the one time it was there, it wouldn't let me pick it up. Just wondering if anyone else had been able to find it recently.

spawn time
# Mar 10 2002 at 10:58 PM Rating: Decent
Boondin does not have a spawn time of 3 days he does however fight with ghouls, maybe in those 3 days you were looking he just got slaughtered by a ghoul. My guild was there on a raid today and I personally killed him three times in about 3 hours each time he was fighting a ghoul and I went ahead and whooped his ***** Im a lvl 35 pally, just cast IoN on my sword and took out his pet first (skelly). 3 or 4 swipes by my sword he was done, then i just started hacking at Boondin he died icon rotted away, B/C of me not being a cleric and not caring bout the quest
Still working
# Jan 30 2002 at 5:46 AM Rating: Decent
This icon still drops in Befallen, the only difference is the name change.

I picked this up last weekend on a guild raid in Befallen. Just happened to be the only Cleric on the raid, other than the Rezzer we brought 'just in case'.

Easy

I don't know what you guys are talking about that he's so hard. I killed him with my 27 ranger, np. I killed his pet and then kill him. Maybe he was oom, I dunno. But I know he was very easy.
Boondin
# Jan 22 2002 at 11:13 AM Rating: Decent
His new name is Boondin Babbinsnort (apparently he earned his freedom). 24th lvl. Still has a pet. Still drops the Icon. Picked it up yesterday for the quest in order to help out a friend that just started a cleric. I wouldn't recommend soloing him unless you are 28th or so. 2-3 mid-20's could take him out without incident.
Can this quest be completed by a rogue?
# Oct 24 2001 at 7:07 AM Rating: Decent
I'm a rogue, and I picked the Icon up while romping thru Befallen with a friend last night - no one else was in the zone at the time.

Can this quest be completed by rogues? If so, it would make a nice present to a lower level guildie. :)

Thanks for your info.

As long as your Sol Ro faction isn't messed up, I think anyone can do it.
Where Genni is
# Oct 21 2001 at 3:08 PM Rating: Default
Genni is a NPC on the very top of Sol RO. If u have ever done the Lambent Gloves quest u no what i am talking about. if not, just go to the very top of SOL Ro and there is a what looks like a High Elf Enchanter. Hail here and she says she can make 3 or 5 different types of gems or bars, ask about the Gal. bar and then u are done i suppose.

Actually, Genni is an Erudite enchanter in Temple of Sol Ro...just give her a bar of enchanted platinum and she'll give you back a bar of galvanized platinum.

Said:"Can anyone confirm if this "Boondin the Enslaved" I picked up on track yesterday is Boondin Babbinsnort's replacement since they revamped Befallen? Or does the plain ole Boondin still spawn from time to time?"

I was in Befallen in Fenning Ro, the place had been reverted and killed him (got it as a booby prize from a wis who was snotty about getting the dagger of Marnek) It was on Boondin Babbinsnort no sine of Boondin enslaved, nor any sine of the Tier'dal.

ANyone know if the Change is time based ot triggered?

Thanks!

I'd just like to share a little story.

I'm always on the lookout for items which correspond to the Solusek Ro quests in the Temple for Clerics. I happened to be in Befallen with Ment the other night, and we were investigating some halfling. Well, he turned out to be a broken quest... but during my investigation, I found out that a gnome Necro named Boondin is in Befallen, and drops the Icon of the Ardent for the Gauntlets of the Ardent!

However, good ol' boondin is a 4-6 hour spawn. So, I am camped in the room where he is. Each day, I log in to see if he's there. For three days, I did this. And he never appeared.

Well, finally, yesterday, THERE HE WAS!! He conned blue, so I figured I could take 'em, and if not, I could probably get away. I prepared all my buffs, medded to full mana, and ATTACKED!! First I nuked 'em with a Smite. Well, his pet started whackin' me, and all the rest of my spells took a while to get off. I kept nuking him, and he was pretty hurt. He kept healing himself, though, and the pet was really becoming an annoyance. I decided to kill the pet first, to make it easier. His pet survived two Expels, but barely! I moved in to finish off his pet in melee, and LO! I HAD FORGOTTEN TO SUMMON MY HAMMER!!! So, I started to attempt Stunning him which also does 74 dmg. It kept getting interrupted, and fizzling!! FINALLY I got it off, and the pet died.

As soon as the pet died, good ol' boondin started walking away. I was at half hitpoints, and OOM, but I continued to follow him, in the hopes of pummeling him to death with my fists. I kept missing, though, cursing the fact that I forgot to summon my hammer! I followed him through the cave to the next room...

Then, suddenly, some random ghoul runs up and WHACKS HIM!! Poof! Gone! No corpse!! AARGH!!! Three days of waiting... A Powerful struggle, and... denied my victory prize!!! AND any exp!!

That really sucks. Why can a mob just steal your exp like that?

Oh well.. NEXT TIME I know better. 1. MAKE SURE I have my hammer!! 2. Nuke the pet first and get it 100% dead. 3. DO NOT LET HIM LEAVE THE ROOM.

That is my tale of woe. Thank you for reading my epic saga!

Buy a weapon. The summoned hammers are weak, and as you now know, suck because they are no rent, and sooner or later you will forget.

I killed boondin in befallen the other day out of boredom. What I noticed was 1) he's very easy for a lvl 41 to kill, even at low mana. 2) he's the hardest mob in befallen. Has more hitpoints, and a tougher pet than any other mob in the zone. Actually peeled off a noticable number of HP by the time I killed him, then tanked down his pet. Took two or three wraths to kill him, and his pet is harder than any of the regular skellies. Maybe about the same as a ghoul.

Was there to finish my Paw of Oppala quest, and got tired of just waiting for Gynok to spawn.

Changes since the Befallen patch
# Jul 01 2001 at 6:23 AM Rating: Default
Boondin Babbinsbort is now named "Boondin the Enslaved". He appears to be the same lvl as he was before the patch. However, there are new mobs in the room where Boondin spawns which makes camping him much more difficult now.

A Reanimated Sacrifice (zombie) spawns in the back corner between the fallen pillar and the wall. It took me 3 180 and a bit of melee to bring her down each time I killed her. Her agg range is wide, so if you're sitting in the corner opposite from where she spawns waiting for Boondin, expect her to attack when she pops. She's on about a 12 minute spawn cycle.

A Servant of T'Vyl now spawns (also on a 12 minute spawn cycle) at the middle of the back wall (opposite the door). This mob will do minor heals on the Reanimated Sacrifice. The Servant is much lower level than the Sacrifice. One 180 DD killed it instantly.

Getting to Boondin is much more difficult than before the patch. The new mobs are higher lvl than before, and their agg range is very wide. None of the newer mobs I encountered saw through normal invis/camo.

My technique for getting to Boondin was to get an invis up and get a levitate, run like heck to the well on lvl 1, jump down the well to the bottom floor, and then run like heck to Boondin's room. Once I killed him and looted the icon I gated out.

I don't know if Boondin's spawn time has changed. I was there 2 hours before he popped.

OK, yeah, so I was farming, but when my 25 DE cleric friend and I, 35 Barb shaman, camped him a few hours ago, he spawned twice within that time and he had the old surname on his tag, as well his pet. I took him down both times with 253 dmg ice nuke after I enstilled him in the corner where he spawned. Plus, the female DE SK that spawns to the right in the hallway dropped all 3 keys needed for the level. Happy hunting all!!
