Mystic Dovan spawns in the same place as Captain Nedar (one during the day and one at night) at +2645, +3029, +43.69 on the second balcony of one of the structures near Cabilis.

    You say, 'Hail, Mystic Dovan'

Mystic Dovan shows the signs of a great mystic. You can feel the power resonating from his aura. 'Greetings and may the cursed blessings of Cazic-Thule be yours. What may I do for you this fine evening? Perhaps I can [cure disease] or [heal] you, perhaps even [purge toxins] from your system?'

    You say, 'Cure disease.'

Mystic Dovan says 'Your malady shall dissipate once you deliver to me one giant blood sac.'

    On hand-in:

Mystic Dovan grabs from his beltpouch a fine dust and cakes the slimy blood sac with it. He then punctures the sac and smears the blood upon your chest. Your chest tingles. Your fill your lungs and exhale a bitter mist.

Your faction standing with Scaled Mystics has been adjusted by 1.
Your faction standing with Legion of Cabilis has been adjusted by 1.

    You say, 'Heal me.'

Mystic Dovan says 'I can call upon the power of the ancients to mend your wounds if you can deliver to me two brittle Iksar skulls.'

Brittle Iksar Skull drops off skeletons in Field of Bone and Lake of Ill Omen.

    You say, 'Purge toxins.'

Mystic Dovan says 'The toxins shall surely be purged from your system when I have proof of your allegiance to the empire. Let that proof be one goblin watcher signal torch.'

Watcher Signal Torch drops off a goblin watcher in either Lake of Ill Omen or Warsliks Wood. Hand one to Mystic Dovan.

Mystic Dovan chants in an unknown tongue as he takes a dagger and slits your forearm. He then takes a tiny glowing vein worm from his beltpouch and forces it into the open would. You feel the worm explode within. The pain is unbearable, but then, a coolness courses through your body.'

Your faction standing with Scaled Mystics has been adjusted by 1.
Your faction standing with Legion of Cabilis has been adjusted by 1.

Do you get bigger faction hits with this than the bone chip quest?
#Anonymous, Posted: Nov 19 2001 at 9:58 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) you ******** he means THE SWAMP OF NO HOPE, not the field of bone, MYSTIC DONVAN spawns in the place where captain NEDAR does, and its TWO not THREE....sheesh

I tested this information and now understand why Allakhazam does not include it in the quest database.

Here is the log entries I got upon Hailing Captain Gideen in Warsilks Wood zone:

    ***********
[Sat Sep 01 22:19:02 2001] You say, 'Hail, Captain Gideen'

[Sat Sep 01 22:19:02 2001] Captain Gideen says 'I hope you have come to assist in the defense of the gate. We have had numerous assaults by the goblins. No doubt it is due to those [goblin watchers].

[Sat Sep 01 22:19:31 2001] You say, 'what goblin watchers'

[Sat Sep 01 22:19:31 2001] Captain Gideen says 'The goblin watchers are rumored to be the communication link between goblin outposts and patrols. We have found goblin watcher signal torches on a few of them. You bring me back no fewer than three and I will reward you.
    *********

Then I tried giving Captain Gideen three Brittle Iksar skulls as you suggested. Here are the log entries I got:

    *********
[Sun Sep 02 03:23:22 2001] Captain Gideen says 'Hisss.. What is this?!! Bribery!! You shall earn nothing from thiss. I did not ask for it. Be gone!!

[Sun Sep 02 03:23:22 2001] Captain Gideen says 'Hisss.. What is this?!! Bribery!! You shall earn nothing from thiss. I did not ask for it. Be gone!!

[Sun Sep 02 03:23:22 2001] Captain Gideen says 'Hisss.. What is this?!! Bribery!! You shall earn nothing from thiss. I did not ask for it. Be gone!!
    ************

I think you are confusing the Goblin Watcher Signal Torch quest with the Brittle Iksar Skull quests.

    Hates Enchanters

I came wandering around this area in Iksar Illusion. The Mystic here saw through that immediately and, exclaiming that he hated enchanters, came gunning for me.

Now I am an Agnostic Erudite who has killed endless Sarnaks in Ill Omen. I conned warmly to the Troopers and, even without the Illusion or anything, I was only apprehensive with them. So I take it the Mystic is on a different faction? Or was it the illusion that ticked him off?

With the illusion I was indifferent to the Crusaders, which I take it means they would KOS me without it. I haven't done the bone chip quest yet to raise faction with them. Is Mystic on their faction or another one?

While I am an Agnostic, I have killed my share of lizards in Cazic Thule. Would this affect my faction with any of the groups in Cabilis?

    thanks!

Mystic Dovan is an iksar shaman of ScaledMystics faction. He is also used for at least one of the iksar shaman weapon quests.

    Easy Faction Gain

The reward (apart from the cure) is faction gain. Collecting a lot of blood sacs is easy and they're not much use for anything else so go bolster your faction with the Mystics (and one other I can't remember), there is no negative faction from doing this.
And his method of curing you is kinda cool - very shamanistic :).

The only one of these that could have any use is the disease cure--as diseases may last a long while. However, at low levels, there is nothing here that will disease or poison you bad enough to need to do this quest. I find that simple sitting is easier than the healing, same with poison. If you are poisoned and have to run all the way to him, you will probably die or the poison will wear off before you get there.
