Dugroz may be found at -250, -1800 in the Swamp of No Hope.

You say, 'Hail, Dugroz'

Dugroz says 'Fffrroaaak!! Go away! I don't want to [work for them] anymore! Go find another slave!'

You say, 'What work for them?'

Dugroz looks relieved and eyes you, considering. Finally, he begins to recant his tale. 'I was once the slave of an important Iksar necromancer. I was his Dugroz, his head slave. One night, I heard two other slaves talking about me. I could barely hear them but what I did hear frightened me. My master was going to use me one last time. He was going to sacrifice me to craft a spell component for one of his most powerful spells. Hearing this, I used my privileges as his head slave and made my [escape].'

You say, 'How did you escape?'

Dugroz says 'As the head slave, I was allowed to move freely throughout my master's compound. I came across one of the slavemasters asleep in his chair and carefully relieved him of his [keys]. Then, quietly, I made my escape.'

You say, 'What keys?'

Dugroz says 'After I escaped, I lost myself in the depths of the swamp. I discarded all the keys but one. I will gladly give it to you if you can do me a [small favor].'

You say, 'What small favor?'

Dugroz blinks his eyes and leans forward. He whispers so quietly you must strain to hear him, 'I have taken up the same magics as my master. I require two components to complete a spell I have been researching for quite some time. The first is a vampire's fang. I have heard tales of a vampire who haunts the ruins of Kaesora. I also need a jade weapon stained by the blood of a chokidai. Look in the Lake of Ill Omen at the sarnak outpost. The leader used to herd chokidai, or so I am told.'

The "vampire's fang" is a Xalgozian Fang, dropped by Xalgoz in the depths of Kaesora. The "jade weapon stained by the blood of a chokidai" is a Jade Chokidai Prod, dropped by the Chancellor of Di`Zok at the back of the Sarnak fort, by the Lake of Ill Omen. Give these two items to Dugroz.

Dugroz says 'My thanks to you, ______, take this key, I know not what door it opens. Now if I can just find that necklace of power that I took from my master's lair!'

You gain experience!!

You receive the Key to Charasis. Once you zone into Charasis (a.k.a. the Howling Stones), it will go on your keyring.

I think that obviously refers to Drusella's necklace...

From the time I decided to do this quest, until the time I zoned into Howling Stones (and got the key added onto my keyring), took me an astounding 90 minutes. Just me (60 Shaman) and my pet, with only my buffs on and virtue. Fortunately, both the Chancellor and Xalgoz were up, so only had to fight gray conned mobs to them (Xalgoz conned green to me).
Have done this quest for most of my characters, and have spent many, MANY, hours sitting and watching buffs go bye-bye, until at least Xalgoz popped. Used to be you had to group to get him, and he only drops 2 of the danged fangs too. So, guess it was my lucky day today.
Best of Luck to all the rest of you folks, it is not that difficult. (BTW, when you zone into Kaesora, levitate down from the first pit in front of you, all the way, and follow the game map around all the way to the left of it. That's where the hole to get down to the old fort is. Xalgoz is in the building to the right of the walkway, and spawns at the "altar").

Did X-guy today and had been having trouble getting to him lots of SI Spiders and such and this was going to first drop down and dropping to bottom...Not the way to go. The otherway I tried today was a piece of cake. Go to the first drop down get off at mid level or firse oepning down and follow this invised to room with hole in floor drop down to right corner and follow the hall down and bam in the dead area so IUD and stay to the left of corridors and there is the church all dead except X-Guy and he dropped 2 fangs< of course> and necklace was hoping for the Staff of the dreaded gaze but alas no such luck. The chancelor was soo easy also both were green to this level 58 Necro <with the new conning system> so I got a tiny bit of Exp killing them. Now to get the key.

well, often found in Howling stones/charasis is the "Necklace of Superiority", a neclace. stating someone is superior in a way reflects power. maybe it wasnt a quest, just a drop that one of the mobs happened to stumble upon. just a theory. may be true, may not be. who knows.

I went to get Xalgozian Fang first. I soloed this with my 66 Cleric spell buffed with no KEI. to get down there I let mobs agro and AOE nuked. The longest part was finding where PH spawned I used the map at this URL to find the church. http://www.eqatlas.com/kunark/kaesora.html The second item took me less then 10 mins and that was all travel time. Jade Chokidai Prod I did with 66 Chanter and 66 Cleric. The Chancellor spawns at approx. n2511 p5013 p229. MOB Was up when i got there.

This place is incredible exp!
Loot aint that much these days, but I think getting the key was well worth it.

Only tough part is, as said before, the entrance. If a foolhearty adventurer jumps in alone, you might get killed by the few mobs at entrance. I went in first time and gated quickly since I came quite unprepaired... Second attempt took things calmly and they went down noprob.

Also, after killing few golems and noticing that the doors require key, I fell from the fake bridge (luckily had levi still on). Ran around downstairs, walked throught some Venril Sathir painting, cleared the rooms down there, until fell down from ANOTHER trap (seemed to be a red mat), which dropped me to a room with some Ikky monk lying in the corner. He was kos, but didnt aggro. Sat down, then he did aggro. Guy seemed to have alot of hps, but otherwisely he was a wussy. After some slime popped on me, gated out.

Fun zone, no doubt. Might be most interesting if things werent all light blue.

As for Kaesora, the only part that you might want to watch out for as a big precaution is if you go strait forward upon zone-in, there will be a hole...If you fall in you WILL get about 5 spiders on you. In my experience they were all necromancer/cleric mobs. I was level 54 I believe and I'm a necromancer. I just necro tanked them down and let my pet BS abit, if you're not a solo class you might want to take more precautions like invis in that spot. Other then that was a push over, I got a few neat Cure major poison potions too (if one of the necromancers get you with a poison dot). Anyway, hope this helps.

This quest is decievingly easy. I'm a 51 Wizard, and solo'd it no problem. Which is great, now I'm keyed to Howling Stones. A zone I am now very afraid of.

See, Howling Stones seemed like it might be a great place to solo. I figured keyed zone ment good drops and nice XP. The key was easy enough, so I figured the zone would be relitively easy.

Wrong.

I didn't do my research, and after my experience, noticed it wasn't noted in this thread, so here it is: Do not even zone into Howling Stones without a group.

I did, and suprise, second I'm in I have 2 or 3 mobs on me. Not sure of the number, because by the time my screen loaded I was down to 10% health. Needless to say I died.

So what to do now? I have a corpse in a zone I cannot even enter without dying. I spent some time asking for help in PoK, asked a few friends if they could help, even went thru LFG looking for someone willing to help. No bites. Finally a guildy logged on with his 3 65 toons and got my corpse for me, but I just wanted to let you guys know: Watch yourself.

This is a fun zone with decent xp. A few more levels and you can solo the entrance with ease. Actually, now that you know the proximity of the mobs you could go in at this level, root and blast. For those who dont know, the entrance has 2 mobs that wander around the zone in. The biggest problem is that they can either be skellies or the big sperm with teeth so invis might work or might not, depending on whats there. The sperm things are what drop the no rent key to the first wing, west I think. Its been a while for me in this zone but I think the spawn time is around 20 minutes.

To come and explore, you should at least come with a partner to help stay alive for the first few kills. Its pretty easy once the entrance mobs are down. Then you can med up and take on the golems guarding the wing doors. At mid 50s, most likely you will get 2 at a time but as you get higher they will come down single. You can get decent xp up to about 60 I think in this zone.

Good luck and have fun, hope this info helps anyone looking into going here.

For those that are tossing around the idea of the Necklace of Superiority and Drussil, please remember that the NoS originally dropped off the Kly in Dalnir. It was too good of an item for a lower level dungeon, so Sony/Verant/989 moved it to Charsis.

Regarding that the Kly uses a Sarnak model and not an iksar, and Dugroz mentions an Iksar Necro as his master.

This to me shrieks out QUEST.

I've tried many combinations of words on him for more information but without any luck.

Having been enslaved in Charasis, his 'master' may well be Drusella Sathir. She drops the Necklace of Superiority. I have since attempted to give him the necklace, but he just refuses it and gives it back.

This may be an unfound quest, or just a hint that Drusella drops a nice necklace.

Killed him solo as a 59 Druid today. No problem even as a non-pet class. Yes, the spiders see through invis more often than not. Just go slow, killing as you go. Staight ahead from zone in to "broken floor room" passage below to the right and slightly behind is the one you want. this passage "did not" show on my in-game map. Used IVU potions after this point, a must imo. These mobs are green but with enough HP's to be a real pain in a gang. A bit of trouble finding "church". Just keep heading "down" after you come to 5 towers. Slowly killed mobs around him. He burnt a lot of mana trying to heal them. Then killed him from within the church, just stayed away from the side with the hole in the floor. He cast like crazy, nothing stuck, my magic resist was 162. Dropped one "fang" and the Blade. Have fun

My whole group (45-52) died on the trip up but we got rezzes and then a port. PORTERS WILL BE VERY VERY VERY USEFUL

And I would do that by handing in the MQ part first, hitting accept. Then having the alt turn in the Chancellor part to get the key?

I'm new to MQing, I've always just done the whole quest.

Just wanted to add. to sum up all I know and most stuff that has already been said.

Spawn time is 2 Hours

This guy will cast:
Malo-lower resists
Togors-Slow
Instill-root so he can run
and some side DoTs

These are REAL easy to resist... but you should have your resists around 50 (30 you will be owned)

I have pulled him into the corner to the left, and I have only gotten an add once, and that time i wasnt paying attention and moved way out and got aggro.

He melees like crap-IF you die-he will stand above your corpse or wherever it was he was last when you were no longer a priority.

I have a level 55 Rogue and i never cared for resists that much. I once came to kill him by myself after a raid, so i had virtue, FOS, Avatar, Haste wore off.. and no resists. I single pulled him with a sarnak right next to him. I got him down to 6% and he healed himself slowly after he slowed me. then DoTed me and Rooted me and ran away. No adds came but I did get one. then he was off for a few minutes and he never despawned. then someone else came down to camp him and he never popped. I am thinking that he never returns to spawn point unless he gates and he only does that if you pull him and hes about to die. GL peoples I hope i helped you.

I camped him 9-03-03 fought my way down without invis or invis to undead. No problem if you dont try to run away,Kill the healer spiders first if you get several adds. At one point i had 5 spiders on me took me to 30% health only cast stun on healers when they started to heal. Once in undead area was easy killing undead till i worked my way to church area . At church area pacified the guardians and pulled 1 at a time till I cleared out church . Xalgoz was up I stood at left side in church pulled him with dismiss undead and proceded to stun him dropped him and had 69% health and 70% mana still left. He dropped a fang a blade and necklace . Slowly made my way back out with little problem . Now on my way to SoNH for my key. Btw only had my buffs on and no KIE but it would have lessened med times didn't see anything try and dispell me.
This was my first time here and followed map from eqatlas as a guide.
Good luck all hope this helps out

Just my 2cp. I did this with my 56 BST the last two nights with no problems what-so-ever. LOIO I just slaughtered every Sarnak in the fort. I just coincidentally killed the Weaponsmith in the fort before I got to the Chancellor, so he had no help and was a total pushover. Last night I went to Kaesora. Bought a gate potion just in case I needed it, but was able to take out pretty much all of Kaesora solo. Even found my way back to the entrance np. Xalgoz went down almost as easy as the chencellor did. Now all I have to do is go to SoNH to find the frog.

I did this Kaesora piece solo just for fun. I used invis and lev to the towers area and then switched to ITU. With the very low aggro range of a lvl 64 I could single pull with a temp flux staff. Once in the room with Xalgoz (ITU up still) I loaded up some ae's (static pulse and wave of heat) and let it rip. Sure I don't need the key but I am a post-velious player. Never been to Kunark much so I wanted to explore. Besides the dang planes are camped to bursting atm. Got the VP part too while I was in.

As a necro 54, I had no problems getting the quest items. Finding Durgoz was not a probelm either, thanks to the many people who have posted about his new location. The real probelm, for me, was Uulump. The latter is yellow to 54, and highly agressive (that is, not only was scowling at me, but seems to have a fairly large aggro range). The first time i dropped invis in front of Durgoz, Uulump aggrod; I barely made it out (SS and the gate). The second time i went there i made sure i stayed behind Durgoz while turning items in, and it worked. Uulump, btw, does not see invis.

Hmm, had you done a lot of Kunark froglok hunting? Ulump is a fairly nasty mob for the druid epic, lev 55 warrior and almost completely immune to magic. But I was informed that he starts dubious to everyone. Maybe that's not correct in the case of necros and other evils, but it certainly was the case for me and many of my friends at least.

LOIO is simple. Just slaughter your way in. Kaesora is a little harder... there's a pit of spiders that can be nasty to get around. But your pet should be able to solo them.

After that, it's a cake-walk.

I haven't solo'd the Kaesora portion, though I wouldn't think it would be a major problem.

The Chancellor I first solo'd at 49 or 50 I think. I did him twice again at 50 (he was stubborn about dropping the jade chok for me). I've also seen him just flat own pairs and trios of 50's because of aggro.

My two bits worth is that I wouldn't try it with a non-charming or rooting class - even the rooting class in questionable. I tried him a few different ways, and the only way that consistently worked was to charm him and use him to clear the room (which has TONS of greens in it, and some of them will help him). By the time I had cleared the room, he was OOM, and cake to just kite around the rather large room. It's worth noting that he took very, very little damage while clearing the room for me.

He does hit reasonably hard for his level, and has a pet to help, plus a reasonably strong Dot. He also Malo's you if you're not careful (he maloed me on only one of the 3 times I charmed kited him).

For rooting classes, if I were to try it it would look something like:

Invis, and run to the rear left corner of his room. If you wait, he will usually come towards that corner enough as to be out of the aggro range of the adherents (who will help him even if you're high level). Root him and dot him. Deal with pet - most likely in similar fashion.

the low down on this quest.

RESIST GEAR. solo'ed dizok as a 47, 48, 50, 52, and 55 monk (getting JCP for guildies, alts, and self). if dizok and his cohorts cant land spells, they die faster than you can blink.

RESIST GEAR. duo'ed Xalgoz at 52, 53, and 56. solo'ed him at 56 (all as a monk). again, if he cant land spells, he's huge wuss. if you're going to duo, take a healer friend and just PL them on the trash for the walk down and while holding camp. the xp bonus on this dungeon is sweet for 30-40 lvl peeps.

some points: dizok can sometimes stiff you on the spear. no worries. if he spawns without it, kill the bugger and wait the 2hr for repop.

xalgoz sometimes drops 2 fangs, so this camp is good for duo's rather than solo, or else you might end up leaving fangs to rot (which is a waste).

Lucky me, managed to team up with a couple of lvl 58 characters. Just as well, because my 42 Druid's behind would have been handed to me on a plate in Kaesora otherwise. We each got a fang, then headed off to LOIO to get the Chancellor's prod. Only needed 2 (one char had from earlier)- got one to drop, and bought the other in the Bazaar because we couldn't wait for the respawn. Then it was of to see Dugroz, and 3 keys were handed to us. Exciting quest for me, lucky i had backup.

Actually, the warrior / druid combo shouldn't have any problems once AT the church. Getting there is another story. First you have to make it past the spiders (pray invis doesn't drop)... Then you run into the undead area (itu potions will take care of that). Make damn sure you have a good map or get a guide if first time in Kaesora.

Once at the church area, set-up in safe corner and have druid pull from distance. (Don't set-up IN the church, there are mobs that spawn under it and will aggro up through the floor when fighting.) Root park adds and let warrior tank. At level 49 most of the mobs in there are green to light blue, very few mobs are dark blue. Xal himself is a necro and will try to stun, boiling blood and poison dot you. Once the spawn is broken church area is cake.

Probably not. Kaesora involves fighting groups of mobs on your way down to Xalgoz. Then if Xalgoz doesn't drop two fangs on the first kill, you have to wait like 45 mins for him to respawn, and there are lots of wandering mobs in groups of two or three.

Without traffic control and at least the partial Complete Heal, you'd most likely be toast in Kaesora. Add an Enchanter and Cleric to your mix, and you shouldn't have a problem.

I think the Chancellor's easier, though still you have to deal with groups of MoBs to get to him. I just HATE getting wiped out by a small group of greens! [:banghead:]

Xalgoz is a joke after you get used to PoP Tier 1 mobs...His hitpoints are maybe 3k tops. I am pretty sure that my 1300 HP harmtouch w/ disc took 40 to 50% of his hp...the hardest part is finding your way back out of there after the kill.

But green zones make people play sloppy, and I would caution that making sure that you dont get too overconfident and aggro every green undead mob in the area is crucial...they're easy to solo up to 4 or 5 at a time once you're 50 plus, but more than that could eventually kill you.

Chancellor Dizok for the other half of the HS key is easier to get to and is also very weak. I invised right over to him and killed him without clearing the room first, aggro range for the sarnaks was small...

Small price to pay to farm an Adamantite Club for my monk and to eventually get the Greenmist for my SK main.

All mobs except xalgoz are on a 13 minute timer at the church, xalgoz himself is on a 25 minute timer.
