Rain of Fear Information & Guides: An Overview | Group Progression & Task List | Raid Progression | Visible Armor

This is a solo task, the first task in a series of four. It is assigned to you automatically after first trying to enter the city area. You will be detained and ported into a prison cell.

Pre-Requisites:
- Level 85
- No task requirements

a border defender says 'Halt! I haven't seen you pass through here before, outsider. Guards, take this fool to the prison.'

You've been detained by Shissar border guards.

You have been assigned the task 'Prove Your Worth, Slave'.

You were thrown in prison the moment you stepped foot into the mysterious city of Chelsith, and must find your place among the slaves and Shissar citizens here.

Speak to Rikkey the Cricket 0/1 (Chelsith Reborn)

Task Window Says: The human prisoner nearby keeps trying to catch your eye as you look around your cell. Perhaps you should talk with him.

You say, 'Hail, Rikkey The Cricket'

Rikkey The Cricket says 'Hey there, Gnome. It's been awhile since I've seen one of your kind here. This is not a good place to be a Gnome. Well, it's pretty nasty to be anything but a [shissar], to be honest.'

You say, 'Shissar?'

Rikkey The Cricket says 'Yeah, they're all supposed to be locked up away somewhere, right? Then how the heck did they build this whole city so fast? It practically sprung up overnight, and something's just [not right] about it. '

You say, 'What's not right?'

Rikkey The Cricket says 'I dunno what's going on here. And, frankly, you've got bigger problems: the shissar here hate outsiders, and they're only letting in ones that can be useful to 'em, per Vyzh'dra's orders. He's [king] of this city, or something.'

You say, 'King?'

Rikkey The Cricket says 'Yeah, he's the big bad shissar in charge here. Never seen him myself, or maybe I have, these snake people all look the same to me. Anyways, I hear he sits up in that big tower doing crazy magic experiments. He never comes out, and he doesn't seem to care about anyone else here. You're [dead], friend.'

You say, 'Dead? What?'

Rikkey The Cricket says 'Yep, sorry. Oh, but it looks like this lady's first. Keep your distance from her.'

"a violent guard" appears and has an exchange with the prisoner next to Rikkey:

a beaten prisoner falls to her knees and begins to cry softly into her hands.

a violent guard says 'Nothing to offer your masters, eh? Then you get the same thing you offer us.'

a violent guard brutally hacks the prisoner in half, then laughs as it slithers away.

Rikkey The Cricket says 'Look, if you don't want to end up like that bloodstain, you've got to [prove your worth].'

You say, 'I'll prove my worth'

Rikkey The Cricket says 'Well, you can try speaking with the guards at the door, but they seem more interested in fighting than talking. If you can find a way out of here, look for a friendly fisherman on the beach. They're usually happy to get any extra help they can, and should be able to vouch for you to the guards. Better [a slave] then dead, right?'

You say, 'A slave?'

Rikkey The Cricket says 'I wish there were a better option, but there's not. Now take these slave ownership papers and get out of here before the guards come back.'

Find a fisherman on the beach willing to talk with you 0/1 (Chelsith Reborn)

Task Window Says: It's clear that slaves are disposable here. You need to find someone that will vouch for you and protect you from the brutality of the overzealous guards. Rikkey in prison recommended looking for a friendly face among the less judgmental fishermen on the beach.

Speak with Sridge, the Friendly Fisherman, around the shore line (next to the zone-in dock).

You say, 'Hail, Sridge, The Friendly Fisherman'

Sridge, The Friendly Fisherman says 'Get away from my [bait], you sneak!'

You say, 'I'm not here for your bait'

Sridge, The Friendly Fisherman says 'Oh, you're not here to steal my bait? You'll have to forgive my assumption. [Crocodiles and turtles] have been snatching my fish all day!'

You say, 'Crocodiles and turtles?'

Sridge, The Friendly Fisherman says 'The little scurrying lizards keep swiping from my line. I'm not sure if you're already on an errand for another shissar, but I'd love some help if you could spare the time. Fight off any of the scurrying buggers nearby and bring me their jagged teeth so I can show these dirt mongers that this area of the beach is off-limits.'

Collect jagged teeth from crocodiles and turtles 0/45 (Chelsith Reborn)

Task Window Says: You found a fisherman to vouch for you, but he seems a bit on edge. Earn his favor by killing crocodiles and turtles stealing his fish, and bring their jagged teeth to him as proof.

This is a random update upon crocodile and turtle kills (1-8 per kill). Note: You only need to be on a mob's hate list to get the credit (you do not have to be a part of the group getting the experience for the kill).

Deliver the teeth to Sridge 0/1 (Chelsith Reborn)

You say, 'Hail, Sridge, The Friendly Fisherman'

Sridge, The Friendly Fisherman says 'Ha, you think life as a slave is hard? Try being a fisherman! It's [cutthroat] out here.'

You say, 'Cutthroat?'

Sridge, The Friendly Fisherman says 'Crocodiles aren't the biggest threat, apparently. The [other fishermen] took a cheap shot at me while you were out and cleaned out my bait bucket!'

You say, 'Other fishermen?'

Sridge, The Friendly Fisherman says 'Those dirty humans over there. Slaves like you, but clearly with less honor. Do me a favor and get my bait back from them, will you? I don't care if you kill them, ignore them, or throw them in the ocean. Just get my bait from their buckets, [okay]?'

You say, 'Okay!'

Sridge, The Friendly Fisherman says 'Good. I'll start putting these crocodile teeth into the sand as a warning to the others.'

Retrieve 20 handfuls of bait from buckets on the shore 0/20 (Chelsith Reborn)

Task Window Says: While you were kicking crocodiles, rival fishermen were kicking Sridge and stealing his bait. Go steal it back from the bait buckets on the beach.

Around the shore area are buckets. You just have to click these for random updates, but be advised that the nearby fishermen will aggro you when you do:

a tired fisherman says 'Hey! Get your hands off my bait, you sneak!'

These mobs hit for a max ~13,500.

Give the bait and poison to Sridge 0/1 (Chelsith Reborn)

Task Window Says: You found Sridge's bait, but also a weird vial of what looks like wicked poison. Bring both back to Sridge and see what he can make of it.

You say, 'Hail, Sridge, The Friendly Fisherman'

Sridge, The Friendly Fisherman absentmindedly drops his newly recovered bait onto the ground when he sees the poison vial in your hands. "Where'd you get that [poison]?"

You say, 'What poison?'

Sridge, The Friendly Fisherman pulls you in close and whispers, 'It doesn't matter. How would you like to get out of here, _____? Not all the slaves are as short-sighted as those fishers you just beat up. Some of 'em are [working together].'

You say, 'Working together?'

Sridge, The Friendly Fisherman says 'I've said too much already. Look, I think you've got a good head on your shoulders. You do what you think is best, but if you're interested in getting out of this imaginary [shissar] slaveland, take this vial to [Belissa] in the marketplace.'

You say, 'Aren't you a Shissar?'

Sridge, The Friendly Fisherman says 'Of course, I'm a shissar. But I'm a slave here too. Vyzh'dra has gone mad and I want out as much as the rest of you. You think I like building fences with crocodile teeth on a dirty beach next to humans?'

You say, 'Where is Belissa?'

Sridge, The Friendly Fisherman says 'You'll find her near the market in the northeast corner of town. It won't be easy getting there, but it'll be worth it, I promise. When you find her tell her 'Sridge likes my style' and hand her the vial.'

Discreetly take the poison to Belissa in the market area in the back of the town 0/1 (Chelsith Reborn)

Task Window Says: Sridge got secretive when you showed him the poison and seemed to imply that he knew a way for you to escape the city. You may not be able to trust him completely yet, but what other choice do you have? Take the poison to his contact in the marketplace, Belissa the Barker. You can find her in the northeast corner of the city. Sridge told you to repeat the following phrase to her exactly: Sridge likes my style.

Belissa the Barker (map) is findable via CTRL+F: location 1675, -875, 321.

You say, 'Hail, Belissa The Barker'

Belissa The Barker says 'What do you want, _____? I'm busy.'

You say, 'Sridge likes my style'

Belissa The Barker looks around and smiles at you, "Well why didn't you say so? Give me that thing you're carrying before someone sees you with it. Oh, and take this [note].

You say, 'What note?'

Belissa The Barker says 'Stop talking about it and shove it in your pants, hatchling. You know where the [aqueduct entrance] is?'

You say, 'Aqueduct entrance?'

Belissa The Barker says 'Go to the wall directly east of me and follow it north until it opens up into a courtyard with four giant pillars. It's not difficult to spot, but you can consider it your first test. Fight or sneak your way to [Kilithyr] in the rebel camp at the center of the aqueduct. Give him the note and he'll know what to do with you.'

You say, 'Kilithyr?'

Belissa The Barker says 'Are you really going to repeat everything I say so we double our chances of someone overhearing our conversation? Get out of here!'

Sneak into the aqueducts, avoiding the guards if possible 0/1 (Chelsith Reborn)

Task Window Says: Belissa didn't explain much, but she did mention a camp of rebellious slaves hiding down in the aqueducts. Find the aqueducts entrance to the east she mentioned.

Head to the aqueducts. To get this update, jump down the well in the very far northeastern part of the zone. (Note for further travel to the aqueducts, you can use any of the portals: For mapped locations, see the image on this NPC entry.)

Deliver the note to Kilithyr in the rebel camp 0/1 (Chelsith Reborn)

Task Window Says: You made it to the aqueducts, but it's dangerous down here. Stay in the central area, where it's safe, and deliver the note to the group's leader, Kilithyr.

Kilithyr is in one of rooms close by from the well drop-off. (He is also findable with CTRL+F.)

You say, 'Hail, Kilithyr'

Kilithyr says 'How'd you find us, _____? Are you [friend] or foe?'

You say, 'I am a friend'

Kilithyr eyes you suspiciously, 'Friend, eh? Who [sent] you?'

You say, 'Belissa sent me'

Kilithyr says 'Sridge and Belissa got a good thing going up there. They've been sending down more recruits than all our other agents combined. Well, I hope we can trust you, because we don't really have a [choice].'

You say, 'A choice?'

Kilithyr says 'Trust me, if we were anywhere else, you and I wouldn't be friends. But we're all desperate here, so we set aside our differences and work together. You did notice that the two people that recruited you are [shissar], right? They're not usually our friends either.'

You say, 'Shissar?'

Kilithyr says 'Yeah, the situation here is so bad even some of the snakes are turning sides. I still don't like 'em, but I won't refuse help. Us slaves are in a tough spot, but if we stick together, we'll find [a way out of here].'

You say, 'A way out of here?'

Kilithyr says 'I'm sure you've noticed that something's odd about this place. Buildings occasionally vanish and people are constantly disappearing. We're not sure what magic is at work, but we have to find a way to break it. Thankfully, [Grulid] has been a big help on that front.'

You say, 'Who is Grulid?'

Kilithyr says 'He's the best magician we've got down here in the wet stones. I can tell you've dealt with magic before. Why don't you go see if you can help him?'

Speak with Grulid 0/1 (Chelsith Reborn)

Task Window Says: Kilithyr isn't the friendliest leader you've ever met, but he's determined to help slaves like you escape Chelsith. He wants you to meet the master magician in the camp, Grulid. Find him nearby and introduce yourself.

Grulid is in the adjacent room at location 1500, -45, 143 (also findable with CTRL+F).

You say, 'Hail, Grulid'

Grulid says 'I wish we were meeting in more pleasant circumstances, _____. Let us work in haste, for there is no time to waste.'

You survived your first day in this new Chelsith, and have discovered a group of fellow slaves working to break free of their Shissar overlords. You've vowed to help them and earn your freedom once more.

The phase to start the conversation with Belissa the Barker is listed in the lower objectives in the task: "Sridge likes my style." But you can go to the next task objective by just saying: "Kilithyr."
