The Oracle may be found on top of a mountain at -15, -6730, -200 post-revamp.

You say, 'Hail, Oracle of K`Arnon'

Oracle of K`Arnon says 'Greetings, ______, I am the Oracle of K'Arnon. Do you quest for [knowledge] yourself, or do you offer that which I [seek]?'

You say, 'What about knowledge?'

Oracle of K`Arnon says 'I have lived long and have insight into many matters, yet I despise charity. To learn from me, you must first bring me that which I [seek].'

You say, 'What do you seek?'

Oracle of K`Arnon says 'I seek knowledge, which is superior to all things. And no knowledge is greater than that which is contained within the [Tome of Ages].'

You say, 'What is the Tome of Ages?'

Oracle of K`Arnon says 'The Tome of Ages has been compiled over the millennia by the Scribes of [Dal]. It was divided into seven distinct books by the scribes to keep the knowledge from one such as me. That said, with aid, I shall unite these books and the Tome of Ages shall be mine.'

You say, 'What about the Dal?'

Oracle of K`Arnon says 'They were elves once, but now are Teir'Dal, and as evil as they are wise. Many tomes have they written, but none greater than the Tome of Ages.'

You say, 'What about the Book of Ages?'

Oracle of K`Arnon says 'The seven Books that make up the Tome of Ages are those of Enlightenment, Scale, Turmoil, Monuments, Elders, Blood, and the Lost Book. Each of these great books is an important chapter in the history of Norrath. If ever you find one of these books, bring it to me.'

You say, 'What about the Book of Enlightenment?'

Oracle of K`Arnon says 'I do not seek the Book of Enlightenment at this time, but I might have need of it in the future.'

You say, 'What about the Book of Scale?'

Oracle of K`Arnon says 'Ah, the Book of Scale.. It would be wondrous indeed if you could recover the Book of Scale for me. If you do manage to procure the Book of Scale, I will gladly part with an artifact of my own that may be of interest to you.'

Giving him the Book of Scale nets you Miragul's Phylactery, used in the Fiery Avenger quest, a subquest for the Paladin epic.

Oracle of K`Arnon says 'Unbelievable! The legendary Book of Scale is mine! Please, take this as a small token of my thanks. I warn you however, if you ever manage to join the corporeal body to the evil that resides within, you will rue the day.'

Your faction standing with Oracle Of Karnon got better.
Your faction standing with Oracle Of Marud got worse.
You gain experience!!

You say, 'What about the Book of Turmoil?'

Oracle of K`Arnon says 'Ah, yes! The Book of Turmoil. I seek this book, and should you find it and return it to me, I will reward you with secret knowledge.'

Giving him the Book of Turmoil,

Oracle of K`Arnon says, 'Thank thee for this tome. Be sure to check back with me later, as I might have another task for thee.'
Your faction standing with Oracle of K`Arnon has been adjusted by 10.
Your faction standing with Oracle of Marud has been adjusted by -10.
You gain experience!

You say, 'What about the Book of Monuments?'

Oracle of K`Arnon says 'I do not seek the Book of Monuments at this time, but I might have need of it in the future.

You say, 'What about the Book of Elders?'

Oracle of K`Arnon says 'I do not seek the Book of Elders at this time, but I might have need of it in the future.

You say, 'What about the Book of Blood?'

Oracle of K`Arnon says 'I do not seek the Book of Blood at this time, but I might have need of it in the future.

You say, 'What about the Lost Book?'

Oracle of K`Arnon says 'I do not seek the Lost Book at this time, but I might have need of it in the future.'

I was messing around on Luclin one day and noticed on the map that there is an unknown zone on the map in EQ atlas for the Netherbian lair. I proceeded on over to it and maaged (with levitate) to wiggle my way through the rocks into the tunnel leading to darkness. I didnt make it very before I kept getting reset back inthe tunnel. I tried casting my Eye of Zomm and running with that. It did not get reset, but niether did it make it much farther then I. Obviously this is a zone line for the expansion, I was just wondering if anyone had any idea where to and ifit might possibly be realted to this quest at all.

If you are class that doesn't have Gate, I would suggest not worming your way in for a look. Try as I might I could not get back past the rock fall to get out with or without levitate.

Curiosity got the better of me and i read the spoiler on graffe and well i went to nerek and looked sure enough there was the guy now being that im a human wizard and kos how in the heck am i going to kill this guy get his head and give it to his sister withought everything in the zone argoing on me . VI didnt think much when they made this quest and as far as the Hoax part people only say its a hoax cuz they are not willing to try and see what they can find out. also as for people saying the items are in old world Kunark... Wrong the Oracle himself gives you the items all u need to do is find the books. How many librarys are in this game.... hmmm lets see Erudin, Qeynos, Charsis, CoM, where else. now i know for a fact that this quest does work in its completion i am RL friends with a GM. so just hang in there peeps well figure out the rest of it .

Well, there is a solution to your problem! You can gain good faction with almost everyone (especially the guards) in Neriak doing the Wine Quest. You need help by someone tho. You have to give a lot of wine to Lokar To'Biath (yes, to the same guy you have to kill later on).

HTH in your researches :)
RE: This does work
# Aug 14 2002 at 12:51 AM Rating: Default
NOT the same guy you kill. The guy you kill is her OTHER brother, who is the upstairs bartender in the same room she is in.

What are you talking about? Have you done this quest ever? You have to kill Lokar To'Biath, the same guy you give the red wine. Giving red wine will result in positive faction with the Merchants and Guards in Neriak. Also it will result in another keyword for the book of turmoil quest. The Bartender in the Blind Fish has nothing to do with it.

EDIT: Just for information, the trick "<open tradewindow>-<have someone cast invis on you to be indifferent>-<trade>" does not work anymore.
That means you have to look for another way to get good faction in Neriak (slaying the little treehuggers for instance).

Actually this DOES still work and has NEVER been made so that it doesn't as to date. It's ALWAYS worked. It's just a matter of knowing how.

Give the items without invis on. With the trade window poped up, and the items in it, have invis cast on you. When your invised Click the trade button. I have done it MANY times and just yesterday for a fact on this very quest.

You have to be at the least Dubious. If your not dubious then resort to killing the halflings, or in some places Wolf form will make you not KOS and dubious at the most. Then while in wolf form you can do the Invis trick.

You can do this with many many quests. Including the Bandage quest to fix your halfling quest if you want. I'm ally now to most of Neriak & warmly to Halflings.

Yes you are right, it still does work. Perhaps I messed something up last time i've checked it with my alt. I believe I was still invis and in this case the trade window won't pop up.

For all the classes out there who can 'hide': You don't need to have someone cast invis on you, you can do it just fine by yourself.

True. And I've heard that Fein Death works just the same? But I've yet to 100% confirm that. But apparently if you can pull it off you can hand items to an NPC will in Fien Death? So it must make you at the least Dubious..?

OK here are the books read on this website in the lore section read the whole story from begginning to end
1. enlightenment where erudites gathered knowledge
2.scale- age of the dragons
3.turmoil-time of war and destruction in norrath
4.monuments-well easy its the combine era all the great things are constructed.
5.elders-wisest people among norrath i think
6.blood- not sure exactly
7.lost book-think about it.... all the knowledge was lost and
Now dont same im wrong im just saying what i remember i have to recheck my sources but its logical read the history of norrath then compare it to the names of the books it makes sense each book is a different age in norraths history or explains it from when all was learned till destruction and loss of knowledge....... so think about it use some logic.... word out

i recently bought the eq rpg book. it describes each age (and the order in which they occured.)

1)age of scale. when veeshan scared the world and deposited the dragons.

2)the eldar age. when brell got involved and made a pact with tunare, prexus and rallos zek to make creatures and take it from veeshan.

3)the age of monuments. innoruuk creates dark elves. brell makes another pact this time with rallos zek, cazic-thule, and brislebane. it was in this age that the zek races tried to fight the gods and were punished.

4)age of blood. erollisi and mithanial marr go to norrath and make the barbarians (which fought with everything they came in contact with. hence the bloody part)

5)The lost age. sol ro destroyes the elddar forest, takish-hiz crumbled elves leave tunaria (antonica). humans are made. and the creation and fall of the combine.

6)age of enlightenmeent. humans settle in freeport and qeynos. tunaria gets named antonica (after antonious bayle III) humans learn magic and the erudite leave for odus.

7)age the turmoil. miragul rediscovers necromancy and the eruidite civil war begins. the vah shir are translocated to luclin and the hole was created. paineel was created.

theres is actually a 8th age the age of legend. that is the age norrath is currently set in. just thought id mention that and perhaps it might lead to some new clues

hoax?
# May 02 2002 at 11:03 AM Rating: Default
i posted on graffe about this and i got a reply back from one of the kind masters of the site saying this quest was a hoax. Now, I can assure you that the oracle does speak of these things, but I'm thinking that it's not really a hoax, it's more of "Hi, we at Verant decided not to put this quest in, and then forgot to take it out. We know of the problem, but we don't fix it."
Either that, or it's a "Well, it's broken and we're too lazy to fix, it but the stuff sucks anyways, so find your nearest wizard and ask him to port you to PoH or something, begone" type of thing.
Now, if this quest really does work, how do you trigger him to be looking for the other books? Or, if you find them (god only knows how you might do that) and then turn them in, if he's "not looking for them" does he then just say "Well, I wasn't looking for this item, so you've wasted your time on one of our best thought of timesinks BWAHAHAHAHA" take the item and then tell you not to let the door hit you on the way out. Either way, I think this quest either needs to be upgraded to be more in line with the high level encounters and keys and such that the "modern" end game player does, or removed completely from the game. Not saying that the reward sucks (I don't know what the reward is, I haven't finished it) but considering it's an old world quest.....

anyways, just my rant/2cp. If ya don't like it, too bad 8)

This has to be one of the most interesting things I know of in game. This quest has been known of since the beginning but still hasn't been solved after nearly, what is it now, 4 years? Anyway, on to the point of this post, back in one of Annyhillus' earlier posts, he mentions something I find interesting considering the next expansion VI is coming out with.

Quote:
"I feel it duly necessary to report that the Plane of Earth and the 'Planes of Power' are mentioned in conjunction with this book... I do not know if there is a connection."

Anyone else think thats odd?

From this post:
https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=65&mid=98686299388667

BTW good work on this Annyhillus. Hope you solve it first.

Something I found over the last couple of days in the Game Lore section of this site

From "The History of Norrath"
Brell Serilis was first, and from his Plane of Underfoot, a dark realm of vast caves and endless tunnels, he quietly created a magical portal to a cavern deep in the belly of Norrath. Through this portal the Duke of Underfoot seeded the depths of Norrath with all manner of creatures. Brell then returned home, sealing his portal within a labyrinthine chamber of mystical Living Stone.

I am betting that when the Planes of Power expansion comes out, the entrance to the Plane of Underfoot (or whatever Brells plane is to be called) will be in the Hole and will possibly have something to do with this.

You putz, turning in the Book of Turmoil DOESN'T reveal anything about the Book of Scale. You have to ASK the Oracle about it.

# Mar 14 2002 at 4:55 AM Rating: Default
*Ack, just realized the book of scale is used in the Fiery Avenger Quest. But, still curious if anyone ever turned in the Book of Turmoil and the Book of Scale in one after the other. Perhaps that would spawn the the need for the next books.

To anyone's knowledge, has the Book of Scale ever been turned in to the Oracle? I am curious what exactly will happen. Given that no one seems to have seen any of the other books besides the book of Turmoil, that the other books will either be triggered into existance after handing in the book of scale, or.....the quest is still broken?
Any further knowledge would be greatly appreciated

Since Oracle of K'Arnon is part of the Dark Barganners? due to his statement when attacked. Does that mean that Oracle of Marud should be a 'good' Erudie? Which means he/she could be an enchanter and thereby look like anyone. sigh. making it that much harder to find him/her.

I am looking thru Erud and Paineel. When i get the alliance spell i will cast it on myself and then go thru again and talk to everyone. plus i will add some charisma bonus stuff to help with the responses.

Doing my own research this is what I found out just today. He was up as soon as I zoned in on the boat from Freeport.

You say, 'Hail, Oracle of K`Arnon'

Oracle of K`Arnon says 'Greetings, Ghek, I am the Oracle of K'Arnon. Do you quest for [knowledge] yourself, or do you offer that which I [seek]?

You say, 'What about knowledge?'

Oracle of K`Arnon says 'I have lived long and have insight into many matters, yet I despise charity. To learn from me, you must first bring me that which I [seek].

You say, 'What do you seek?'

Oracle of K`Arnon says 'I seek knowledge, which is superior to all things. And no knowledge is greater than that which is contained within the [Tome of Ages].

You say, 'What is the Tome of Ages?'

Oracle of K`Arnon says 'The Tome of Ages has been compiled over the millennia by the Scribes of [Dal]. It was divided into seven distinct books by the scribes to keep the knowledge from one such as me. That said, with aid, I shall unite these books and the Tome of Ages shall be mine.

You say, 'What about the Dal?'

Oracle of K`Arnon says 'They were elves once, but now are Teir'Dal, and as evil as they are wise. Many tomes have they written, but none greater than the Tome of Ages.

If ever you find one of these books, bring it to me.

You say, 'What about the Book of Enlightenment?'

Oracle of K`Arnon says 'I do not seek the Book of Enlightenment at this time, but I might have need of it in the future.

You say, 'What about the Book of Scale?'

Oracle of K`Arnon says 'Ah, the Book of Scale.. It would be wondrous indeed if you could recover the Book of Scale for me. If you do manage to procure the Book of Scale, I will gladly part with an artifact of my own that may be of interest to you.

You say, 'What about the Book of Turmoil?'

Oracle of K`Arnon says 'Ah, yes! The Book of Turmoil. I seek this book, and should you find it and return it to me, I will reward you with secret knowledge.

You say, 'What aobut the Lost Book?'

Oracle of K`Arnon says 'I do not seek the Lost Book at this time, but I might have need of it in the future.

This does seem to confirm that the Book of Scale may be indeed the two halves dropped by both Lord Nagafen and Lady Vox. I have not had the opportunity to do the quest for the Book of Turmoil yet but I will post exactly what happens and what is said when I do it if it will help others.

Wha..? Who summoned me?

I have returned to announce that the quest lives on. The very idea that it has been solved by a single individual is totally absurd! Did this person kill Vox with a wink? Miraguld, which I believe is part of this quest, is as powerful as a dragon. Most of the steps to this quest involve mobs that require large numbers of players to destroy. Then there is the loot issue. Too many people would have to be involved for 'rumors' to go unsupported. I grow tired of children acting smart and 'thinking' that they know it all. Bring PROOF or shut up!

Now, to my fellow researchers... I have yet to see confirmation that Befallen is in fact an ancient city, yet, it is now occupied by Tier'Dal, aka 'the Scribes'. Information coming out of Befallen has yet to reveal anything of significance.

Kunark remains unrealted to the Tome. I haven't completely ruled it out but I am nearing that point. All books I have come across on that rock have had nothing to do with much of anything.

Velious, forget it.

Planes? There may be something amongst them but I haqve yet to see or hear of anything relevant.

I return to my slumbers now... be safe.

I've read in many places that Kunark was the only planned expansion for EQ. It was one of the reasons it had such powerful items in it as the design team was let loose to do what they wanted. The assumption was there would be nothing else added (Brad has said as much in his producer/developer posts and interviews he's done).
So if this was the case, and assuming the quest was finished, all the items should be in old world or kunark and not velious.

Just a thought

You are wrong, Kunark AND Velious were part of Norrath in Beta Testing, they took both continents out before they released EQ.

EDIT: Here is the information I've found on a EQ fanpage

Original Norrath Map - old_norrath.jpg
This is the original map of Norrath including the two continents that were dropped for the official release. These continents will probably be added later in an expansion pack.

About the last book, i was in the bathroom tokin a dub, and i got an idea. To get into the old elf city, there might be a door like the door to the hole, a rock, the tourch could have something to do with a quest to get the key to this door, and when i think about it, it may start in a place that has a relation with the elders(sp?), scribes, or elders(?) god, or perhaps bertox. Check the .s3d files in your eq directory, no files for a place called Takish-Hiz or something like that = no such zone...

I know this quest is old and such. That is common..with all everyone has found on this. But that does not mean it has to deal with the Basic Norath. Now lets stop and look at what we have here.

We all know the first 2 book Scale and Turmoil.
I see where another Book drops in unrest has any one tried that book and I have yet to see what book the oracle Asks for After you give him scale.

I love a good Quest just as much as the next person but if I am going to spend time putting togther a Naggy and Vox raid togther I kind of wish to know if this is working. That way when the pallies and others gripe when I want the book I can give them a Good reason I wish it.

I do think ..some where back in my mind this is working..least to some extent other then turmoil due to the fact he still asks for the other books.

Reason for this is that FACT VI went through a few patchs ago and pulled alot of the old none working Quests out. I know this because alot of the useless ones in the darkelf Town where removed and no longer exists even the Key words.

Now I may be wrong and this may not be done..but if it is not I have seen people wondering about this quest for 2 years Someone Send a letter to Alan and get him to state if this quest is complete or not.
#Anonymous, Posted: Sep 06 2001 at 12:51 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Well, I hope you play better than you use the english language. Having said that, the quest is still working. Get the Book of Scale and turn it in to the Oracle. Then follow the next step.

Oracle of K`Arnon says 'Unbelievable! The legendary Book of Scale is mine! Please, take this as a small token of my thanks. I warn you however, if you ever manage to join the corporeal body to the evil that resides within, you will rue the day.
You gain party experience!!

"..join the corporeal body to the evil that resides within..."

This is just talking about turning in the soul to miragul in Everfrost. The Oracle doesnt mention anything else about the other books when you turn in the Book of Scale.

Sadly the Oracle does not give any information about any of these books. Have you read the Book of Scale, what is it telling about?

Maybe you need the phylactery to talk with Miragul and ask him about the remaining books.

Thanks for posting your information!
Now, if you could go on and give the Book of Turmoil and ask again about the other books? :)
It would be highly welcomed.
