    ooh no 80p!!

Seriously, 80p ain't much, must be a lotta newbs trying to get this bag. i hope I pissed some of you economic impaired freaks off. I really just wnt to start a new string, but the time/monetary cost is worth the added 15%. Monks know this stuff better than any other class.

All my time wasted. I just gave him the 4 items and got nothing in return. Faction was dubious. Just for others out there that were doing it. I was just messing around with it for fun, but turned out to be a disappointment. You're probably better off working on you tayloring skills and getting a 10 slot WR pack.

Dubious is the lowest faction before they start to attack you. Almost no quests work with less then apprehensively faction.

Vendors wont sell to you att dubious, quests wont work. So try raise your faction and then do it again and it'll probably work.

The value of this pack has obviously gone down and will rarely be better than the Tailored Backpack the quest requires. It may be helpful for a few niche applications such as a Necromancer to carry Food, Water and Bone Chips in while far from home.

    My 2cp anyway.

Well, thats just ridiculous. Why would someone use a weight reducing pack to carry food, water and bone chips. Food and water weight 1.0 a stack at most, and often as low as 0.1. Bone chips weigh 0.1 It would make mose sense to carry those items in a concordance of research 0.2 wt, 6 slot no reduction, as the 2.8 less wight for the container is greater than you wouyld save on those items. Of course, if you are hauling ore, or weapons around 25% reduction is pretty nice.

You do NOT need a forage skill of 100 to forage these, my wood elf druid foraged them with a forage skill of 67!

Nice for blacksmiths who carry a lot of extra armor which is all heavy.

A tailored bag (stupidly cheap) weighs 0.8, has 6 slots, holds large items and gives 10% weight reduction while this weighs 3.0, has 6 slots, holds medium items and gives 25% weight reduction.

Discounting the cost differential unless you had seriously heavy medium sized items to lug around this is a complete loser.

Now that the tailored backpacks are 10% weight reducing (on top of being 10 slots and can hold large items), the value of this quest went down.

You have to turn in a tailored backpack (along with other things) to get a pack that holds 6 instead of 10 items, holds medium instead of large items, weighs 3.0 itself (same as regular or tailored backpack), and the effective weight reduction is 16.66% (items in the tailored weigh 90% of original, in this they weigh 75% of original).
    Low STR? Go for it

It takes a little bit, but at 30 as a druid WE I need all the weight reducing I can get. Follow through with this and have the help of a TP, should take about an hour, and it holds decent amounts. And, just for the "2 hours my ********** folks, I did it in about an hour and a half :)

I can't make a 10-slot BP. So, I needed to buy one. Spent 100pp. Spending time in South Karana allowed me to get the mushroom. East Karana provided the tea leaves. The wine cost about a gold. So, for 100pp I have a weight reducing BP. Sure there are better items, there always will be. But for the investment, it is definitely worth it. Besides, if you acquire the items as you play, it helps you keep your sanity. Don't set out to start and finish a quest in 2 short hours. It just won't happen unless you have luck on your side.
    Not worth it
    # Jan 25 2001 at 8:24 PM Rating: Default
Why give up a 100 pp 10 slot backpack for a 6 slot 25% reduction in weight. You can sell tons of taylored BPs then buy the 100% weight reduction BP in Sol for running around with and it is a 8 slot BP.

us casters have no strength so these bags are importnat to us. i have done this quest and it realy got on my nerves. you need to have a Foraging skill of at least 100 to forage those things. i had to get a friend to forage for me and that ended up taking a lot longer than 2 freeken hours.

just wanted to through this out there. this quest took me about an hour maybe, i make my own BP's and so that was pretty easy. i bumped my forage skill from 63 to 71 in the 45 minutes i spent foraging for these items and so it is very possibe without a forage skill of 100. also, that cat is upstairs in the big building near the docks. i am glad that i took the time to do this one.

Forage 100 - not true - i've got both these items as an Iksar monk just using the racial forage which is nowhere near 100

How large items can it hold then?
If x-tra large, (example a Scythe) then I would do the quest.

If you're a melee class and carry around like 4 or more weapons all the time, or extra armor depending on what you fight, weight reduction is always nice.

    # Oct 15 2000 at 11:28 AM Rating: Default
Doesn't hold any of my weapons. Can't believe I paid 70pp for a Handmade backpack to turn in for this thing. Aside from the decent exp, this was a waste for me. It would be worth it if I could put my extra armor and weapons in it. I wish I had my 10 slot backpack still. Who needs weight reduction on 4 stacks of food?
    RE: hm
    # Jan 01 2001 at 10:27 AM Rating: Default
it holds small to medium size items. my items i want to put in it all fit in a small box so they should fit in this. if not ill be real **** if you know what i mean.

    # Sep 02 2000 at 2:39 AM Rating: Default
You would have to be desparate for weight reduction to lose 4 slots for that 25% of six items. I can't see bothering with this quest.
    RE: Weight reduction
    # Oct 20 2000 at 7:54 AM Rating: Default
To lose 25% of extra weapons or armor is not all that bad to lose 4 slots. There are lots of bags out there with 10 slots. My warrior carries several weapons, as he is master at with all weapons 2hs and some of the 1hs are kinda heavy, not to mention if you go on a dungeon or any raid with some decent loot. If you win the roll for some nice armor its an easy extra 10 stones of weight. I think the quest is worth it, and takes no time at all really, if you are lucky enough to know a wiz who will teleport you, you can get it done in about 30 min or so. All in all, 2hrs and a HQ Bear skin to get a 6slot 25% reducer is not all that bad.

The handmade backback has 10% weight reduction already. With this bag, you're not saving 25%; your saving 15% and losing 4 slots.
Seems that there are lots better weight reduction bags that don't require shelling out the platinum to buy a backpack. I can think of weight reduction items in High Pass, Guk, Kaesora, and Permafrost just off the top of my head.
    RE: Weight reduction
    # Dec 02 2000 at 7:46 AM Rating: Default
Sounds good. But it only holds regular weapons like a long swd and an axe, will NOT hold any 2-hand weaps or armor bigger than sleeves. I did the quest cuase i make lots of bows for sale, now i can't put in the bag DOH
    RE: Weight reduction
    # Jan 01 2001 at 10:31 AM Rating: Default
i can put a bow in a small bag. your saying it doesnt fit in the sack? well crap guess that just saved me a 10 slot backpack. thanks for the info. all the things i was going to put in this sack all fit in a small box but from what every one is saying is that if it doesnt fit in a belt pouch, it wolnt fit in this sack.
