Trantor Everhot is at location 437.48, -185.74 in North Kaladim.

You say, 'Hail, Trantor Everhot'

Trantor Everhot says 'Yes, yes! I am a very busy man. I've got blueprints to work on, [dwarven wire] to perfect and formulae to calculate. In between those tasks, I have to find time to head down to Irontoe's and down a few Tumpy Tonics.'

You say, 'What dwarven wire?'

Trantor Everhot says 'Oh! Interested in my dwarven wire, are you? Many are. I have no problem letting you use a spool, but I have to warn you that I have not perfected the strength of it yet. I will make you a trade. A couple of[Tumpy Tonics] for a spool.'

You say, 'What are Tumpy Tonics?'

Trantor Everhot says 'Aaah! I love Tumpy Tonics. They were created by Tumpy Irontoe. He was once a member of the famed Irontoe Brigade. Since they disbanded and left for parts unknown he decided to stay in Kaladim and open Irontoe's, the finest well in Faydwer.'

Tumpy Irontoe is at location 161.28, 220.18 in South Kaladim.

You say, 'Hail, Tumpy Irontoe'

Tumpy Irontoe says 'Welcome to Irontoe's! The finest watering hole this side of Oggok! If you're looking for anything special and it ain't behind the bar, just ask. Maybe I can make it.'

You say, 'Can you make Tumpy Tonics?'

Tumpy Irontoe says 'So you want a Tumpy Tonic? I can make you one. All I need is a flask of water and a kiola nut. The kiola nut can be bought in the Ocean of Tears island chain.'

Cleonae Kalen in The Ocean of Tears sells Kiola Nuts.

Hand Tumpy a Water Flask and a Kiola Nut. Do this twice.

Tumpy Irontoe says 'Okay. Where are the other ingredients?'
Tumpy Irontoe says 'Here you go. One Tumpy Tonic. Don't drink that too fast now.'
You gain experience!!

Return to Trantor and hand him 2 Tumpy Tonics.

Trantor Everhot says 'Hey! Only one?!'
Trantor Everhot says 'Great! I did not have the time to get down to Irontoe's today. Here. Like I said. A spool of dwarven wire. Now go away. I ain't sharing these tonics.'

Well, it seems that I got 12 nuts, succeeded at 10 tonics, and got 5 wire. Trantor is currently at the mushroom farm. Odd place for him to be, according to this, and did not have to really talk to him. Actually, the only I talked to, was the head ranger dude. Trueshot. Oddly enough, I do not remember him being there, the last time I was there getting mushrooms. Go figure.

I was working on getting nuts from OOT and passed the island while riding boat without realising it. So on my swim back, I stopped at Sirens and camped them for easy xp at lvl 17. As I was about to leave, a whole group of sharks were stacked up next to shore, just in reach of melee, yet they didn't attack back. I killed everyone, also darkblue to me, without losing one HP! Think I will stay around that spot and lvl some, ***** the truesot bow for now!

I hate to tell you this but you can give the items to Tumpy and he will combine them for you and give back the tonic that you need for the wire from Everhot.

Of course, I am always for increasing trade skills, but one as important as this just use Tumpy. :D

Keep your eye open for Tumpy Tonics at the local taverns. I've found them for sale in Kelethin and Kalidim. Saves a lot of time when you don't have to travel to the Ocean of Tears to get the nuts.

Listen if you cant get faction in Kelethin or kelidam try doing something about it. Kill some crushbones just stop whining "they wont talk to me." They did not make this very difficult so dont make it difficult on yourself

I am a Erudite Enchanter and when I went to buy the nuts I was jumped and killed by a pirate that aggro'd from way of screen. The way I was able to purchase the nuts was to jump of the ship and cast Illusion Wood Elf from the water and I had no problems.
Dindaek?
# Feb 15 2002 at 9:38 PM Rating: Decent
Just reading over this quest guide, and noticed that it said that it was begun by Dindaek Everhot. If I'm not mistaken, Dindaek isjust another NPC merchant in Everhot's place. I believe that this quest is begun by Trantor Everhot. Just noticed this, and thought I would mention it.

Vendors won't sell to me
# Feb 06 2002 at 12:02 PM Rating: Default
With the exceptions of the middle guy in the Inn and the bait vendor, I can't get the vendors to sell to either my High Elf or Wood Elf, even when they con amiable, even with Illusion Human. Anyone know what race/faction you need to buy kiola nuts?
RE: Vendors won't sell to me
# Dec 13 2002 at 2:45 PM Rating: Decent
They con amiable to me as well just the other day. I reported it as a bug. On sister island just as you cross from Freeport zone into OOT. Does anyone know where else to buy these?
vendor
# Dec 01 2001 at 10:20 PM Rating: Default
i cant seem to find the vendor that sells the kiola nuts. i went to that island from freeport, which happened to be the only island between fp and bb. i went to all the people on that island and none of those people were selling the nuts. most of the people won't even talk to me. i checked all the huts and the inn on the island and still no nuts!
Usefull
# Aug 24 2001 at 3:06 PM Rating: Default
Just a little help if you cant find this item, you can go to trumpy can give him a kiola nut and a flask of water then he gives you some. and you get the kiola nut on the island in the ocean of tears
Brewers that can gate are great!
# Jun 11 2001 at 7:41 PM Rating: Default
I am currently raising my alts brewing by making Tumpy Tonics and what I do is take the boat to Sister Island...Load up on Nuts then gate back to FP and brew like crazy:) I'm bound in WFP so I'm right near a brew barrel and around a corner from a water vendor...Its a great set up! Just wish the Nuts where stackable.

Well if any of you are on Tholuxe Paells server. I will gladly save you the trouble if Im in kaladim at the time. I am a master brewer so its nothing for me to make them and I have several stacks in the bank at my disposal. I usually sell them for around 40pp a stack, only because of the trips I have to make go get the nuts and then go back to make them. I can work with anyone short of that much cash. Well happy hunting to you all and good luck.

Trumpy Tonics the easy way
# May 29 2001 at 2:53 PM Rating: Decent
These are very easy to get but there is one unfortunate thing: The kiola nuts do NOT stack. So make sure you have plenty of open slots, particularly if you're going to be attempting to make the Trueshot Longbow. (You will need 2 dwarven wires, which will take 4 kiola nuts to get). Side note: the Tonics DO stack, so really, you just need to worry about open slots to get the nuts.

1. Get on the boat to Butcherblock at Freeport. Preferrably get SOW put on you before you leave, because you will want to get on and off the boat fast, otherwise you get stuck on the island you buy the nuts at until the next boat passes.

2. At the first island the boat STOPS at (will be on the right) run off the boat to the building directly across from the dock (slightly uphill). There is a woman behind the bar selling rations, etc. The kiola nuts look like chick peas and since they do not stack they have no number either. I think they cost around 2pp each, and remember, they do NOT stack and you will need one per Tumpy Tonic, two to get dwarven wire, and four if you play to attempt the Trueshot. Buy as many as you want and run back to the boat! If you get stuck... well, practice your fishing or something, but if you're not high level, try to avoid aggrevating any NPCs on this island because they're pretty high level (30+). The pirate (which I've never seen) is supposed to be around lvl 15.

3. Get off at Butcherblock and head for South Kaladim. In Tumpy's place you'll find Tumpy behind the bar, hail him and he'll ask/tell you something about (if I remember correctly, been 2 months since I did this) his famed skills as a brewer or something. Give him 1 water FLASK (cannot be forraged POD of water) and 1 kiola nut. He'll give you back a Tonic, and I believe he also give you exp. I did this at about lvl ~14 so it probably wasn't much for me.

At this point you can happily pound back your Tonics, but if you need dwarven wire, here's what you do next:

4. Enter North Kaladim and hunt down Tratnor Everhot. I usually found him in the Farm (NE side of zone). Hail him and he'll make some comment about being thirsty and lazy and could you please fetch him some Tonics. He wants TWO for him to give you dwarven wire. Give him two and ta-da, more exp and your roll of dwarven wire. (and remember, if you are going for the Trueshot, you need two rolls of this stuff - one to get the staff to make the bow, and another to actually make the bow itself - so 4 Tonics needed). I think you can give him 4 Tonics at a time but don't quote me on that. ;-)

For further Trueshot info, check right here on Allakhazam at http://eqdb.allakhazam.com/quest.html?quest=178.

Good luck and enjoy your Tonics (and or Trueshot or other quests!)

I was trying to remember the Factions you use to get from handing in tonics to the guys on the dock. Was wondering if this might not be an easy way to raise factions in FP especially for my DE necro

#Anonymous, Posted: Jan 12 2001 at 1:53 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) The tumpy tonic quest was not only nerfed, it no longer exists. So dont bother trying. This is just another one of the many ways Verant says **** YOU to its paying customers.

Don't know what you're talking about, besides the fact that this is NOT an official Verant Forum, so I do not see the point why you want to flame here?? I also love the fact that nearly every flamer thinks that he/or she can judge that they can't code or run a game, when it still is the most popular MMORPG around.. And their subscription numbers are still rising, I for one have never had any complaints.. I also know how hard it is to run a complex IT-infrastructure, as far as that goes Verant does a a very good job..
Anyway, I actually did this quest yesterday on the Cazic-Thule server and had no problems whatsoever.. So you might wanna check again, or report the fact that it doesn't work if you're on a different Server..

/em raises his tumpy tonic to the posters health!

Groflah is a dwarf in freeport who also wants the tonics, you get some sizeable faction hits when you give em to him...however this only works when he is in the bar by the docks....which can take several hours for him to spawn...no fun

If you kill the PH, you can force the spawn.

Unfortunately, killing the PH is a big faction hit...

I dont know why this would have to be an "Official Verant Forum" for me to say what I please. I dont think Verant would post my message on qeynos.com.
As for game code, I have seen good and bad examples, all the way back from the 286 days. EQ does not fare highly among well written code. Just look at all of the bugs, and worse, all of the downtime for patches. The kunark expansion slows down because of too many polygons (try running ww in high res). Not to mention frequent disconnection, and a list of other bugs. One of my favorites are creatures walking through walls to attack you.
Complex IT-infrastructure (yokes). Its a server. Do you even kow what type of system they use? I'll give you a hint; its not a p3 800 from best buy. If you want to see a real complex structure check out what dialpad.com did.
But like I said before EQ is one of the best games around, so on that point we agree. What I also said was NO NERFING. Gamers should create severe penalties for such behaviour. I think a programmer that does this should have his hands cut off. At the very least the software co should refund all fees to the end user. Nerfs and patches are cop outs, and just like "downloadable drivers" are second chances for crappy code--at the users expense.
There Im done venting.... The quest does not work on the tallon zek server, but ill try it again today. BTW do you know how many tonics you need to give to grolfach? There have been some changes regarding quest items in freeport (deathfist slashed belts now have to be given 2 at a time), and I was wondering if this would be consistent on all servers.

/anon snaps to attention and salutes Yilar crisply.

Tumpy Tonic can also be brewed, incidentally, though the ingredients are the same as for the NPC: 1 kiola nut, 1 water. Trivial in brewing is 135.

there is another guy who accepts trumpy tonics and gives you ALOT of exp. I have not tried it myself but i haave heard of lvl 1 people going to lvl 5 just from giving him a few. He is located somewhere in freeport and his name is... well i forget. So look for someone who wants trumpy tonics in freeport.
RE: give to...

Is the guy still there? i think his name is gralof or somthing, if he is still there does he take the tonics still? i have 40 some and dont want to destroy them, i want XP!

If you are oon the baot FROM freeport, it will be straight houde if you go straight from the dock, you will have to go to the right a little. There is a person in the 'hut' behind a counter, right click to see the display, it is usually the first item on the right. If you are doing the Trueshot Quest, don't forget to get 4, you will need 2 dwarven wires, one to put in the bag Maesyn Trueshot gives you, and one to stick in your fletching kit.
GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY HUNTING FELLOW RANGER!!!
