This is a Conquest Slayer achievement.
Well, technically not just snakes but, 'I hate reptiles', just doesn't have the same impact. - Alligators, Basilisks, Crocodiles, Lizard Men, Sarnaks, Shissar, Snakes, Sokokar, and Turtles. (5000). | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

The (various flavors of the) alligators along the beach in South Ro provide quick kills to complete this. There's prolly about 30 of them on a roughly 5 minute timer. If you lack any Freeport factions, you can do The Great Caiman Issue while you're at it. Running around after them, I was averaging about 250 kills per hour (but that included some detours to kill some orcs).
I couldn't get to where the previous two posters mentioned. I assume that with the elimination of illusioning through doors, it's not accessible without some sort of key.
Instead, I went to House of Thule, Upper and there is a little pit in the hallway on the way to Fear Itself that has 33 snakes on a 5 minute timer (12 pops an hour = 396 snakes per hour; about 12.5 hours for all 5,000 snakes). They are level 70 or so. There is an occasional undead wanderer to be mindful of depending your level. I found these snakes to be super easy and the best option for me.

As the below poster says Ssrech temple is the best place to do this - there is a third floor room - fast respawn and all autoaggro in the room, afk killing is the best way to do this - takes a few nights to get the 5,000
Ssraeshza Temple, go to the Emperor's room, stand in the middle with your rog/warrior merc, at level 100.
8 Shissar spawn every 1-2 minutes. Great for AFK killing.
I stood more east of the ring, with duck on (so when I was "afk" they couldn't push me a distance away).
