Jeet (Rogue Guildmaster) is at location +562, +195, -32.25 in North Kaladim. He's on Find (Ctrl+F). You will need Amiable standing with Miners Guild 628 to obtain this quest.
You say, 'Hail, Jeet' Jeet says 'What business do you have here?! This here is the mine and that means if you ain't a [member of Miner's Guild 628], you'd best be moving on!' You say, 'I am a member of Miner's Guild 628.' Jeet says 'Well, then, get off yer rump and give us a hand! If you don't have a mining pick, then get down there and use your fingernails! If you're new and you want to earn a pick, you can [volunteer to exterminate the rats] that have been infesting the mines!' You say, 'I will volunteer to exterminate the rats.' Jeet says 'Well, someone has to do the dirty work around here. Let it be you new miners. Go patrol the mines and if you see any rats, bash them good! Return to me with four rat pelts and I will give you some armor as payment. If you want a 628 mining cap, yer gonna have to smash that infernal [cleaner]!' Giant Rat spawns in the middle of the railway bridge, and shares its spawn with Infected Rat and Cleaner VII. Loot 4 Giant Rat Pelt. Giant Rat Pelt
Just like that, unstackable. A Giant Rat drops them (go figure!) I did not try Befallen, like a poster below mentions, but I got 22 off of vendors in the qeynos and surefall area as well as two in qeynos hills.
Field rats and such in qeynos hills don't drop them, but you may as well kill them so more "A Giant Rat" spawns. I tested a bunch of rat pelts and fur, he gives them all back saying he doesn't need them except for the "Giant Rat Pelt"
Is there any other ways to raise faction with Miners Guild 628 besides the 3 quests listed here at Allakhazams? I am human warrior with R-Z as deity, so I am considered evil by dwarves. After several trips to CB for belts and pads and doing bone chips I am now amiable with guards, warriors and merchants, indifferent to clerics and pallys but dubious to rogues so I can't get any quests out of them or use their merchants.
If you were me and I were you, would we still be friends?
There is a way, but it isn't a quest. You can kill Peg Leg and company for good faction with the Miners Guild 628. They are bandits in Butcher Block.

Ok, if you have the time, or can TP, this is the way to get better faction with the dwarven rogues (after you already have indifferent faction).
Go to Befallen, the pelts must be from GIANT rats, not large ones, like at West Gate, and Steamfont. Giant Rats are all over the place, just fill up your containers, and viola!
Armor is tattered/patchwork, copper cash, and decent exp, great faction though, especially since my DE Chanter can sit in DE form at the bank now...
BTW, the way to get faction to indifferent is to smack up the bandits in BB. PLing a buddy at one of these camps works too, got me from apprehensive to amiable in a couple days.

Finally completed this quest last night. I'd been collecting pelts for a while -- I never seemed to get them consistently off of the rats themselves (just body parts).
Anyway, I was a 5th level Rogue, and here's the funny part. I received NO patchwork armor, just a bunch of experience (enough to ding me to 6th level). As far as I can tell, there could be two reasons for this: (1) I never "officially" joined the Rogue's Guild; my character died before delivering the note, way back when. They still let me train there, however. (2) It also may be because I already had some patchwork armor that I had just bought.
Addendum: OK, this is a correction, because now I think I did get some armor out of the deal. I checked my inventory last night . . . and I had a set of patchwork arms in there. I must have gotten that _as well as_ the experience -- I know I got experience, because, as I say, I made 6th level.
Gotta go kill more rats and see what happens.
p.s. It _is_ a pain waiting for the rats to spawn; I had better luck in West Freeport . . .

If yer huntin' Giant Rats, stop by Innothule Swamp. Loads of 'em. Just keep an eye on the Trolly NPC's if yer of a lighter race. Good luck.

Those rats are different. They are "a giant rat" the ones that pop in the mines are "a Giant Rat". Notice the caps in the name. It makes all the difference. Besides, why would anyone doing the rat hunter quests go all the way to Innothule? It's a long way to travel through some dangerous zones for some patchwork armor or the rat catchers cape.

I wonder why you get a negative hit with the Qeynos Thieve's Guild? What do they care about the Kaladim Rat Problem?

The Rogues Guild in Qeynos (Circle of Unseen Hands) are opposite faction than Miners 628 in Kaladim. The Rogues of Qeynos are considered evil and Miners 628 is considered good. Being that this a Miners 628 quest, you lose faction with Qeynos Rogues.
If you are a "good" rogue then you should not be liked at Circle of Unseen hands. I have been KoS at rogues in Qeynos since level 10. To hell with the evil rogues of Qeynos. By the way, anything you do to raise faction with Qeynos Guards will also result in a negative faction hit against the Circle of Unseen Hands

When you enter the mine, go left and follow the path until you get to the track across the water. Wait here, the rat will come across this part every time before exiting. I sat about a half-hour, saw 5 rats, one was infected (didn't fight it), and 3 of the 4 normal ones had a pelt and an assortment of ears/whiskers/feet. This was on Erollisi Marr btw.

The rat in the mine only spawns every 5-10 min, spawns as an infected rat half the time, and only one in 5 Giant Rats that spawns actually seems to have a pelt. Also you have to engage the rat quickly or he will flee out of the mine and get killed by a guard.
As a quest, this much camping for a low piece of armor is pretty lame unless you go hunt Giant rats elsewhere

you get Patchwork, and an easier way to get the pelts instead of waiting in the mines, go to Dagnors and kill the rats there, they are very common and you can hand in those pelts also for the Patchwork Armor.
