At the end of the "Orc Belts" quest, Deputy Budo told you to find Marshal Ghobber and tell him, "Am I one with the Wall?" Find Marshal Ghobber at the ground level of the bank in Rivervale.

Your Location is 126.28, -203.77, 7.29

You say, 'Hail, Marshal Ghobber'

Marshal Ghobber says 'Greetings! Allow me to introduce myself. I am Marshal Ghobber Truppack, Marshal of the Great Wall Patrol. Are you [new to the squad]?'

If you have ally standing with Marshal Ghobber (which faction?), you will see the following in response to this:

You say, 'Am I one with the Wall?'

Your faction standing with Guardians of the Vale has been adjusted by -1000.

(This drop in standing appears to be a bug in the quest.)
Marshal Ghobber says 'Yes!! Welcome, Deputy ______! You are now an elite member of the Great Wall Division. Wear this ring with pride. You may take it to Hendi Mrubble of the Clerics of Mischief for healing at any time. Wear it with pride.'

You receive a Squad Ring. Since your faction has been lowered to warmly at least, you cannot repeat the dialogues with Marshal Ghobber.

Find Hendi Mrubble.

Your Location is -230.38, -379.60, -14.71

You say, 'Hail, Hendi Mrubble'

Hendi Mrubble says 'Why, hello there!! Welcome to the Church of Mischief. I am Hendi Mrubble. The 'R' is silent. I am the resident healer of the church, so if you are in [need of healing], or want me to [cure poison] or [cure disease], let me know. If you've got a touch of the crazy brain, I can't do a thing for you.'

When you give her the ring, she gives it back.

Hendi Mrubble says, 'May the swift and silent spirit of Fizzlethorpe Bristlebane smile upon your frail soul.'
You gain experience!

Receive: Squad Ring (recharged)

Must be at least Amiable faction with Hendi. She is on Priest of Mischief faction.

It may not be difficult, but it sure takes a long time.

My Chanter took days and days of casual play to get this. But, it was absolutely worth it.

It's like a little security blanket in a big, scary world.

Based on your response to the ring you my poor dimwitted monk can never claim to be a wise man.It is meant to be used in emergencies when your about to die.It is a 1shot 80 heal....using on down time as you did was totally stupid. But then again considering th efaction needed to get this ring I think you are a lieing sack of s##t anyway.

I got my ring while in Rivervale but now I am in Freeport. Is there any other cleric in the world that will recharge the ring other than Hendi in Rivervale? I worked to hard to get the ring to give it to a cleric and not get it back. Please advise

After the latest patch, you don't have to worry about not getting it back, so long as the mob does not care about it. I.E. if the ring is not used in any other quest, you'll get it back from mobs you give it to if they don't need it for a quest.

I have just compleated this quest but cannot seem to raise my faction with the clerics through their quest. I am a human warrior who worships Mithaniel Marr. I have tried to complete the faction quest numerous ways and times, but was rejected every time. My question is do you have to be a cleric or a halfling to be able to recharge the squad ring?

I have heard mention of the quest having a level cap on it above the 30's. (other posts) Looking up the spell "healing", it said that it went up in the amount that it heals from the orignal level to 100hps. Does the effect of healing go up in amount with the level of the person using the effect as well?

Admittedly there isn't much of a change between 80hps and 100hps when you're getting hit for the hundreds, but it would be nice to know...

Cleric Recharge

I had heard about this quest and journeyed to Rivervale specifically to get this ring. It took me a little more then one evening's work, total Goblin and Orc smashing time probably around eight hours (not too sure though). Now that I have the ring, I want to make sure I don't lose it when I try to have it recharged. I was originally Indifferent to the Clerics, but after doing the Cleric Supply Quest only once, I jumped to Amiable. Heartened I repeated the quest several times, trying to raise it to Kindly so I could be sure of a succesful recharge. I've now done it no less than fifty two times, and still am only Amiable. My question: is there a set number of times you need to do this quests to get high enough amiable, or am I safer doing it a further few (dozen) times to get it to Kindly?

To answer my own question, I did this quest a further 4 times (for a total of 56 times) and was still amiable! But was soo sick of it by this time I said ***** it. SO I decided to use the charge on the ring, give it to the cleric and hope for the best.

Did it and YES it worked. Hendi Mrubble hands back the ring and says something like "May the swift ans silent spirit of Fizzlethorpe Bristlebane protect you" and the ring is placed in the FIRST AVAILABLE SLOT IN YOUR INVENTORY, not back on your finger (So don't panic and think it's been lost when you see it's not on your finger)

So we know that you probably don't need to do this quest quite as many times as I did to get the necessary faction with the Clerics (Although I did start with high indifferent faction)

Not always the guards have two seperate rings. That they drop. A squad ring and a silver ring. Both are no drop and the Silver Ring is just junk and no stats on them at least none that are listed. Its how I got mine ;)
Orc Belts
# Nov 24 2001 at 7:40 AM Rating: Default
The fastest way to get faction is to get Orc Belts and turn them into Deputy Budo in the guard tower next to the archway in the wall in Misty Thicket.

One orc belt is worth about 10 goblin warbeads.

Best item ever. Any melee class that doesn't have the ablitiy to heal themselves who fights in kith, RE, or misty can just run back to cleric guild and heal yourself up to full. use ring, hand it in, use it, hand it in, etc... This thing has saved my butt more times than I can count. And it's often a surprise when i'm pvping. Oh well

I think this a pretty good quest for any halfling starting out. By the time you are ready to leave Misty Thicket to kill bigger and better things you should have the faction to get this ring, and you get to go into the world with a cool healing ring

You need high ally faction (just plain ally is not enough). I dropped down to amiably as well in doing this quest.

Well I camped the goblin camp right outside the entrance to runnyeye for approximately 4hrs and acquired a total of 80runnyeye warbeads.

I started out as amiable and when I turned them in I was still amiable :( I plan on camping them again to get the ring.

Also what is the faction of the Clerics that can recharge it?
Got it Finally!

Well, it took me 4 evenings of off and on hunting but I finally got my squad ring. I am an 18th. level Half-Elf Rogue. I hunted about 3 -4 hours a night so the estimate of 15 hours is very close. My faction started out as indifferent with the Sheriff and guards. I hit ally level on Sunday afternoon. Still couldn't get ring. Went out to eat and came back later. Got 6 more backpacks full of beads from killing goblin warriors and I killed Mooto 3 times. Went back to turn them but didn't need to. I stopped by the Marshal and asked him the "Am I one with the Wall" question and lo and behold he gave me the ring. Even gave me the clue to return the ring to the female cleric with the last name of Mrubble, sorry don't remember first name. Faction dropped from Ally to Amiable. Which is fine with me. They still like me. hehe
I gave the 6 backpacks full of beads to a 2nd level halfling druid and he got 3 levels off turning them in. Needless to say, he was pleased.

Now I'm going to get my faction with Clerics from indifferent to amiable so I can get it recharged in the future.

Very nice item to have for any class that can't heal itself. Rogue, warrior, mage, etc...
Could really save your butt in battle or give you enough HP's to be able to run away if need be. This is an item my Rogue will have as long as he's around, I'm sure.

Good luck doing the quest. It's worth it, in my opinion and fairly easy to do. Just need to be patient. Doesn't cost any money to do either if all you do is kill the goblins and turn the beads in. You also get all the food and drink you'll need for quite some time from the Sheriff.
Quickly boosting faction

I have a 1/2elf druid and i started with aimable faction. This helped me get the faction needed for the runnyeye warbead quest so it might help with this one too. I went and bought about 5 or so stacks of bandages and did the lil honeybugger quest. I ended up giving the bandages in stacks to save time and i got my faction boosted up to ally very quickly. But don't con the honeybuggers while you're in the house with them you will still con indif or aimable. When i got to the guards onthe way into rivervale i coned as an ally

Very long Quest
# Jul 01 2001 at 8:07 PM Rating: Default
I just finished the quest, it is a VERY long quest and I worked on it off and on for many, many lvls =o) (your length of time will depend on what you /con to the squad to begin with and how dedicated you are to getting that ring). Some information you might want to know:

1. You need to be considered an ally to the squad. (Well, i did, i'm a druid/woodelf)

2.Once you are considered an ally, you still need to kill gobblins, orcs and/or do the bandage quest MANY MANY times before you can acually get the ring, so don't get discouraged if they don't give it to you as soon as you /con ally.

3. Very important: Once you DO finally get the ring, your /con will go back to amiably. So, while you can get another ring, you acually have to do the WHOLE thing all over again, you CANNOT just go back and get another ring.

Hope that was helpful!

Gather around, kiddies, and I'll tell you a story from long ago (circa mid-1999).

Back in the day, the status "No Drop" did not exist. So, people who were completing this quest could give/sell the ring to whomever they wanted. The thing was, since your faction remained the same with the Guardians, you could get an unlimited number of rings. Get ring, sell for 10 plat, get ring, sell, etc. So, this faction hit was the step taken to prevent this kind of exploit. Later on, No Drop status was finally added to the ring.

And thus ends today's lesson.

I killed one of the halfling guards at the misty thicket wall and he dropped a 'squad ring' its magic, lore, no drop and its effect is +5 charisma, looks just like a silver ring. Can't seem to find any info on it though but its clear it isnt the same squad ring

I am a level 22 Human Paladin who has Ally faction with Marshall Ghobber and he just says "You are in good standing etc...." and NO ring. I have a couple of hypotheses:

1) the quest has very recently received a level cap and I'm now too high or
2) I need a higher level of Ally which I haven't had time to acquire.

The faction level needed used to be VERY high into the "Warmly" range. It would not surprise me in the least to discover that it requires a faction level well into the new "Ally" range.

To answer my own question, I went to Runnyeye and killed goblins for quite a while. Never got the "you cannot possibly improve your faction with ..." but when I went back to the Marshall, still ally and ... eh voila, my ring! My faction then (as expected) immediatley dropped to amiable.
How much faction is lost by getting the ring?
# Feb 23 2001 at 6:44 PM Rating: Default
It used to be that you could use the ring's charge, destroy it, and get a new one for the asking. They (obviously) fixed that one. Now, when you get the ring, your faction goes down, so you have to kill more stuff to get a new one.

My question is, how much faction do you lose in getting the ring. All of it? Or do you only have to kill a moderate amount of stuff to get a second ring? I need to know, I gave mine to the wrong NPC and it's gone gone gone now.

A lot of faction is lost by getting the ring. You go from very high warmly (probably Ally now that they've added another level above warmly) down to amiable. It will take a lot of effort to work it back up.

You have to have high "amiably" faction to recharge the ring. The only known way to raise the PriestsOfMischief faction is by doing the cleric supplies quest. Hail the left-most cleric on the platform for more details.

I just completed the quest and I am a Barbarian warrior. The best way I found to do it is kill the higher level goblins in runneye(That is if you are high enough level).
