At the end of the "Orc Belts" quest, Deputy Budo told you to find Marshal Ghobber and tell him, "Am I one with the Wall?" Find Marshal Ghobber at the ground level of the bank in Rivervale.

Your Location is 126.28, -203.77, 7.29

You say, 'Hail, Marshal Ghobber'

Marshal Ghobber says 'Greetings! Allow me to introduce myself. I am Marshal Ghobber Truppack, Marshal of the Great Wall Patrol. Are you [new to the squad]?'

If you have ally standing with Marshal Ghobber (which faction?), you will see the following in response to this:

You say, 'Am I one with the Wall?'

Your faction standing with Guardians of the Vale has been adjusted by -1000.

(This drop in standing appears to be a bug in the quest.)
Marshal Ghobber says 'Yes!! Welcome, Deputy ______! You are now an elite member of the Great Wall Division. Wear this ring with pride. You may take it to Hendi Mrubble of the Clerics of Mischief for healing at any time. Wear it with pride.'

You receive a Squad Ring. Since your faction has been lowered to warmly at least, you cannot repeat the dialogues with Marshal Ghobber.

Find Hendi Mrubble.

Your Location is -230.38, -379.60, -14.71

You say, 'Hail, Hendi Mrubble'

Hendi Mrubble says 'Why, hello there!! Welcome to the Church of Mischief. I am Hendi Mrubble. The 'R' is silent. I am the resident healer of the church, so if you are in [need of healing], or want me to [cure poison] or [cure disease], let me know. If you've got a touch of the crazy brain, I can't do a thing for you.'

When you give her the ring, she gives it back.

Hendi Mrubble says, 'May the swift and silent spirit of Fizzlethorpe Bristlebane smile upon your frail soul.'
You gain experience!

Receive: Squad Ring (recharged)

Must be at least Amiable faction with Hendi. She is on Priest of Mischief faction.

My 42 ranger had spent much time a few years ago questing in Rivervale so he had decent faction. His recent long camping in Xorbb's gorge pushed him to ally with the Guardian's of the Vale.

Remembering this quest I went and got the ring. Though unlikey that a naked tracking alt will ever use it... one never knows.

My Halfling Druid (Karana) has recently done this. I had just gotten to ally with the deputies and could not get the ring. I went to EC and camped the orcs for a bit and got maybe 12 DF belts. After turning these in, I went back and got my ring. Faction went back to amiable.
I have been turning in the cleric items every chance I get and I am still only amiable with them (I forgot what I was to start). I also did the Acoylyte's Anklet quest.
I have not used the ring yet but I am guessing my faction is good enough to get it recharged. I'll reply to this thread when and if I use it.

1) Ally faction must be high to recieve the ring
2) Hendi Mrubble is in the Church of Mischief at /loc N231 X N375 in Rivervale, she recharged my ring at /con amiable
3) Be prepared for hours of faction building
4) Handing in bandages will lower the Coalition of Tradefolk Underground faction but will speed up the Guardians of the Vale faction farming to recieve the squad ring.

I have several characters who are all regarded as allies by the RV guards and none of them has yet acquired a squad ring. And I heard that once you do acquire the ring, your faction is lowered so that you can't use up the charge, destroy the ring and then go back and request a new one over and over. You have to rebuild your faction each time. So what's worth more to you, having the highest possible faction in Rivervale, or this ring?

How do you click on Deputy Budo? I cant give him any belts cause he is stuck inside the wall and wont come out. is there a way to go in there or something? What faction do you need for the squad ring quest? guards are all warmly, but citizens are considers you kindly. what and whose faction do you need to raise and to what?

I believe Budo has been moved to the ground floor for quite some time. He is always there when I walk in with low levels and is there after patch.

He is on top of the tower. Go into the tower, and climb the ladder. It worked everytime for me.

Like the other person said. Just get a train of rats and snakes then run into the buildnig and slowly move outside the building. If you bring just one normally he'll kill it before you can get him all the way out of the wall.

I would always aggro a small creature and make it chase me to where Budo was stuck, he would run out of the wall to come kill it.

I'm not sure if this helps, but if you buy a metric crapload of bandages and give them to the halfling that's been stung by the bixies in the corner to the left of rivervale in one of the last huts, you gain faction with the guards. This certainly helped me because I went from apprehensive to warmly =)

Just so you know, I did this quest by doing the bandage quest in Misty. It took me 63 stacks of bandages to get from amiable to ally, ran to the NPC, and said " Am I one with the wall?" I got the ring and faction with them dropped to amiable. No killin, but it cost me about 80pp in bandages. Maerchants are still ally too.

MORE VALUABLE THAN IT USED TO BE
# Oct 28 2002 at 6:41 AM Rating: Decent
My level 46 Halfling Warrior heals herself for 100 HP with it.

Before Planes of Power 'insta ports' I thought the ring was valuable enough for fun raiding in Runny Eye.

Since Planes of Power, going to Rivervale's Cleric Guild to recharge the ring and heal yourself to 100 percent is just a matter of minutes !

I was ported to Nk, just barely cleared stones when a Griffawn jumped me. I ran once around the rings hopeing a Druid would pull it off me, with no luck. I then ran North hoping to make it to the guard tower. When I got to the base of the hill by gypsy camp I started the death crawl, triggered the ring I put on my finger while running there, and was able to run rest of the way to guards with a few hit points to spare. A 90 HP heal might not seem like much, but in the right circumstances it is a life saver. When I dinged 14 and was going to leave Rivervale, ring or no ring, I finally got it. Time well spent to get it.

# Aug 09 2002 at 11:40 PM Rating: Default
normally when you try and get 2 of an item it detects using the integer compiler that you already have one so if you have a friend hold on to the one you have because it is droppable you should be able to get another and your friend give you your back, like the case of putting it in the forge and was still able to get another one so this plan should work, the software is not that advanced to barcode each item and check through the server for the exact one and see if you rented it that would take hours and be a worthless piece of software for the 4 or 5 cases where you can do this

You can not trade lore items with someone who has one anyway.

I am happy to announce that after doing quests and killing everything i could to get faction for my first 20lvls, then killing randomly when going to Rv for spells, finally at lvl 44 i am one with the wall. So now that i have greater healing and am closing in on superior healing i get the ring that has a one charge 90hp heal. Can someone from verant please take the time to consider some of the quests you have that are insanely dumb before creating new ones. A 44 druid with a 90hp heal ring, lol, what will you think of next.

No worse than the druid spell charm plant. lvl 29 spell, and at lvl 48 the sarnak i have to kill is still dark blue to me. and apparently not high on the leave mob to rot list. His friends make it almost impossible to get because all were green to my 53 warrior friend, and we still got chased out of the zone.

I have killed Mooto 4 times. Turned in 28 belts from Orcs I have personally killed and turned in at LEAST 50 beads from goblins I killed. I still cant get the ring. All this and I am a Halfling Druid. Seems a bit excessive to me.
Squad Ring is NO DROP
# Jul 07 2002 at 2:50 PM Rating: Default
Just tried this last night while gathering supplies and got my ring. It most certainly is NO DROP. The special ability on this item is simply an instant cast of Healing, a 90 HP heal that various classes get. A friend has also figured out the recharge part with the Clerics, but I don't have that information at the moment.

This 90 HP heal is not so bad as it seems. For one thing, warriors and the like DO NOT have this ability regardless, so you would be 90 HP ahead of death in a crisis. Also the ring casting time is INSTANT. So hopefully one could time the proc and not be interrupted. Not so horrible if used strategically.

I too noticed my faction go from ally to amiable (with the marshall & guards). This does not make any sense, but who said ever said this game was bug-free. Although I seriously doubt it, perhaps after using the Healing component it becomes droppable. I have never heard of such a thing in EQ, however.

46th Half-Elf Ranger of Karana.
Faction Hit
# Jun 24 2002 at 6:51 PM Rating: Default
Ok question - Why the hell would you drop from ally to amiable after you killed a frickin butt load of gobs for them. That doesn't make a bit of sense.
RE: Faction Hit
# Nov 25 2002 at 1:43 AM Rating: Decent
That is so that people don't just say the phrase half a bajillion times and stockpile these rings so they can go solo lvl 20+ mobs as a 10th level druid. The faction hit means you can't do the quest a second time immediately and have to work back up to get a 2nd ring.

Besides, aimiable is just fine for me. =^.^=
RE: Faction Hit
# Jan 03 2003 at 1:06 AM Rating: Decent
How you going to do it over and over again when the ring is LORE? I'd really like to know this trick.
RE: Faction Hit
# May 29 2003 at 4:01 AM Rating: Decent
Because at the time, the ring wasn't lore. Nothing was lore. The "lore" attribute didn't exist back then, and so dropping your faction was the only way to keep people from getting and endless supply. Verant came up with the idea of the lore tag later, after they implemented this quest. Now the faction hit is unnecessary, but Verant/SOE never went back and fixed it.
#Anonymous, Posted: Jun 12 2002 at 8:28 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) you guys have nothing to do, SUREEE at 30+ youll come back from OT to recharge your 90hp heal ring XD i say that if you arent hunting around RV its useless, its no drop so you cant show off, its like saying hey i have a Kodiak's endless intellect Tunic and the effect is worn , can you show me it!?, no i cant its no drop, bah your a liar, what if you really have this tunic?
wow, I missed this somehow.

Thats kind of sad I over looked this quest. I both turned in numerous belts, killed Mooto a few times AND have done the warbeads (a ton). I cant believe I didnt cash in yet. I am only 14 but also a halfling... my faction probably could not get any better. I need to get this ring, im sure it would still be a decent healing at my level in a pinch....

** Does oyur faction lower with this alternate group (I assume cleric faction) when you recharge it? Like getting the ring itself? **

Its dropable also, thats kind of sweet also if you outgrow it, its a very nice noobie ring.

I dissaggree it would not be hard at ALL to rebuild faction. I was loaded to the gills with goblin war beads. By the time you do this once, it would only be easier to build faction again.

·Like the lvl 50 Iskar that shaughter whole orc camps in the commons.

Good luck all

gonna try for this today, along with trying to find more of the newbie armor.

The *ONLY* choice for halfling clerics to worship is Bristlebane, which suits me fine ;)

so all the NPC's are gonna be bristlebane worshippers, but only Hendi will re-charge it from what I understand.
Ring Charge

Once you leave Rivervale will any other cleric in any other place that worships Bristlebane recharge the ring. If they will how do you determine who a priest worships?
