Rain of Fear Information & Guides: An Overview | Group Progression & Task List | Raid Progression | Visible Armor

This is a solo task begins with Aranu (map) in Evantil, the Vile Oak. This is an Alaran located at 120, 440, 15 (at the base of the tree, west-central side).

Pre-Requisites:
- Level 85
- No tasks

You say, 'Hail, Aranu'

Aranu says, in Alaran, 'Hello, wanderer. Stay your weapons; I have no interest in harming you. I have come here to try to find a cure for the horrible effects the fear fruit are having on my people. I believe I just might have [found something] that may work.'

You say, 'You found something?'

Aranu says, in Alaran, 'The evil magic that leaks into the surrounding land from the vile oak has produced some horrible mutations in the creatures that live here. The strangest has to be the gibbering fear breeder. It is an elusive creature whose offspring look nothing like the adults at all. In fact, they look very similar to small eyeballs. I assume this is to try to scare off any predators that would try to eat them; not that their adult form is any more pleasing. Inside of the stomachs of these offspring is something [wonderful].'

You say, 'What was wonderful?'

Aranu says, in Alaran, 'While the offspring of the gibbering fear breeder are still young and in eyeball form, pearl-like growths are formed within their stomachs. There are many different types of these growths and I have found that when ground into powder form, they can offer some temporary relief from the addictive fear fruit. I need more samples however. Can you [help] me? Perhaps if I can get enough samples, I can create a more long lasting form of relief from the effects of the fear fruit.'

You say, 'I will help'

Aranu says, in Alaran, 'Thank you. Your kindness will not be forgotten. Collect [fearbreeder offspring stomachs] from fearbreeder offspring and return them to me. I have become quite adept at scraping the growths from the stomachs without damaging them.'

You have been assigned the task 'Strong Stomachs Needed'.

Aranu needs you to collect some fearbreeder stomachs so that the valuable, pearl-like growths that form inside their stomachs can be extracted to help make a substance that can help provide relief from the effects of the fear fruits.

Kill gibbering offspring breeders or gibbering fear breeders and give the fearbreeder offspring stomachs to Aranu. Aranu can extract the growths from the stomachs for you. You will need to collect some swirled pearlescent growths, large pearlescent growths, oddly shaped pearlescent growths, small pearlescent growths, delicate pearlescent growths, slimy pearlescent growths, and grimy pearlescent growths.

Collect some swirled pearlescent growths 0/1 (Evantil, the Vile Oak)

Collect some large pearlescent growths 0/1 (Evantil, the Vile Oak)

Collect some oddly shaped pearlescent growths 0/1 (Evantil, the Vile Oak)

Collect some small pearlescent growths 0/1 (Evantil, the Vile Oak)

Collect some delicate pearlescent growths 0/1 (Evantil, the Vile Oak)

Collect some slimy pearlescent growths 0/1 (Evantil, the Vile Oak)

Collect some grimy pearlescent growths 0/1 (Evantil, the Vile Oak)

Kill gibbering fear breeders (both adults or offsprings will do) and collect Fearbreeder Offspring Stomachs. Give a stomach to Aranu, and in return, he'll give you a random Pearlescent Growth. Turn in the Growth to update the task.

Give the swirled pearlescent growths to Aranu 0/1 (Evantil, the Vile Oak)

Give the large pearlescent growths to Aranu 0/1 (Evantil, the Vile Oak)

Give the oddly shaped pearlescent growths to Aranu 0/1 (Evantil, the Vile Oak)

Give the small pearlescent growths to Aranu 0/1 (Evantil, the Vile Oak)

Give the delicate pearlescent growths to Aranu 0/1 (Evantil, the Vile Oak)

Give the slimy pearlescent growths to Aranu 0/1 (Evantil, the Vile Oak)

Give the grimy pearlescent growths to Aranu 0/1 (Evantil, the Vile Oak)

Speak with Aranu 0/1 (Evantil, the Vile Oak)

If you are a pet class with invis this is simple. As an SK I just stayed invis and had my pet kill the offspring mobs. Seemed to always have my invis popped off at its death but I could just loot the stomachs, FD off any mobs as needed

they say it is supsoed to be random, very partial random IMHO. I have tried every area gotten 6 of one type, 5 of 3 others, , 2 of 2, and 1 of 1, still hunting for that elusive one that i am not getting. <shrug> maybe having so much excess will make the quest easier next time if i want to try again.

Make sure u get them from all over, even down in the cracks.

Collect a fearbreeder offspring stomach and give it to Aranu, he'll hand you back growths. What he gives back seems to be random. Recommend collecting more than 7 if you want to only do the turn-in one time.

The breeder offspring are the easy kills. The Breeders are level 100 and are a lot tougher, but there seems to be no difference, as the stomach appears to be a random selection.

You have to kill the breeders and collect their stomacks. But you need to collect from different ones scattered all over the zone. All of them die very fast, you will not take any damage. Some KOS mobs path close just like at the npc taskgiver. Turn in the stomacks to the npc he will give you back the growths. Very easy. Then turn in all of the items all done.

I doubt that it matters which breeders you loot from since they are all the same item (and stack). I am finding the swirled to be very rare; I have collected over a hundred stomachs and still no swirled.
