You say, 'Hail, Shimsham Ratlobber'

You say, 'I will help'

Shimsham Ratlobber says 'You are too kind! We need to get my bag of gems back. When you are [ready] to begin, just say the word!'

You have been assigned the task 'Find the Gems. . . Or Die!'.

A goblin named Shimsham Ratlobber has asked you to help recover a stolen bag of gems for him. You are a bit suspicious of his request, but agree to help him anyway. Speak with Shimsham's friend, Griznab Finkledink.

You say, 'Ready!'

Shimsham Ratlobber says 'Off you go then!'

Speak with Griznab Finkledink 0/1 (Valley of King Xorbb)

You say, 'Hail, Griznab Finkledink'

Griznab Finkledink says 'You have just been tricked into competing in every goblin's favorite spectator sport, 'Find the Gems. . . or Die!'. Along the way you will encounter traps, puzzles, and obstacles that can promptly kill you! Aren't you excited?! The rules of this contest are simple; find several gems or die trying! Once you find all six of the gems, place them in Chrom's treasure chest to move on to the next part of the challenge. Nobody has ever won yet, but if you do, we just may let you leave! Fail and you will probably die a horrible death. Off you go then!'

Loot the radiant diamond 0/1 (Valley of King Xorbb)

Loot the blue sapphire 0/1 (Valley of King Xorbb)

Loot the deep green emerald 0/1 (Valley of King Xorbb)

Loot the red ruby 0/1 (Valley of King Xorbb)

Loot the purple amethyst 0/1 (Valley of King Xorbb)

Loot the pitch black onyx 0/1 (Valley of King Xorbb)

Task Window Says: You have been tricked into competing in some sort of sadistic contest. Locate the treasure chests containing a Radiant Diamond, Blue Sapphire, Deep Green Emerald, Red Ruby, Purple Amethyst, Pitch Black Onyx, and loot them.

Note: Opening and looting the wrong chests can spawn adds (1-3 at a time) or port you to a different part of the zone.

Radiant: Diamond: 2190, -1060, -155
Blue Sapphire: 2050, -260, -345
Deep Green Emerald: 2265, -735, -200
Red Ruby: 2800, -1265, -200
Purple Amethyst: 1510, -1225, -200
Pitch Black Onyx: 2690, -1510, -205

Place the radiant diamond in Chrom's treasure chest 0/1 (Valley of King Xorbb)

Place the blue sapphire in Chrom's treasure chest 0/1 (Valley of King Xorbb)

Place the deep green emerald in Chrom's treasure chest 0/1 (Valley of King Xorbb)

Place the red ruby in Chrom's treasure chest 0/1 (Valley of King Xorbb)

Place the purple amethyst in Chrom's treasure chest 0/1 (Valley of King Xorbb)

Place the pitch black onyx in Chrom's treasure chest 0/1 (Valley of King Xorbb)

This triggers the spawn of a golem named "Chrom". He appears at the other end of the room and is not auto-aggro.

The fearsome golem, Chrom, has appeared and looks anxious to smash you into oblivion!

Defeat Chrom 0/1 (Valley of King Xorbb)

Chrom hits for a max ~14,000; is permanently rooted; and summons. He spawns two adds at each health mark: 75%, 65%, 55%, 45%, 35%, and 25%. You'll see this emote when they spawn:

Chrom slams the ground with his mighty fists and the nearby _____ cluster breaks open revealing two angry _____ golems!

Adds hit for a max ~12,500. They are stunnable and mezzable.

Loot Chrom's Hardened Heart 0/1 (Valley of King Xorbb)

Give Chrom's Hardened Heart to Belmoore Bigdigger 0/1 (Valley of King Xorbb)

Task Window Says: The burynai nearby named Belmoore Bigdigger that you presumed was dead, has awoken. Give him Chrom's Hardened Heart.

Speak with Belmoore Bigdigger 0/1 (Valley of King Xorbb)

You say, 'Hail, Belmoore Bigdigger'

Belmoore Bigdigger says 'Thank goodness you defeated that big brute, Chrom! I have been trapped here playing dead for I don't know how long. Chrom's heart is actually a key we can use to summon a portal to get the heck out of here. Wait a minute. . . Oh, look! It appears a treasure chest has appeared! I wonder if anything good is inside? Why don't you loot it and then we can use the teleport portal nearby to get out of these abysmal mines.'

Loot the chest for your reward 0/1 (Valley of King Xorbb)

You have managed to escape from the dastardly contest that the goblin, Shimsham Ratlobber tricked you into competing in. Belmoore Bigdigger, who was also trapped in the mines, thanks you and goes on his way.

When I was looking into this mission I didn't find much info so I'll share what I learned after running it for the first time. I box so the way I ran the mission was to be efficient and kill as few mobs as possible- if you want to fight through then most of this doesn't matter. The mob density is very low though so it seems more like this mission is aimed at getting loot/spells.

Zoning into the instance puts you in the northeastern cave system (on most maps). You definitely want to add the /locs to your map file. It's not just a matter of finding the chests, it's about opening the right ones. There are tons of chests throughout the caves and you will waste a ton of time if you don't know which ones to open. You get an achievement for only opening the correct chests as well. The order in which you loot the gems does not matter.

Depending on your group makeup, you can double Invis/IVU and safely travel the entire zone- there is a mix of undead (skeletons) and live (rats/cubes) mobs throughout so you either need both or be very careful about switching. Opening and looting the chests breaks invis but in most cases you can avoid aggro. There were one or two chests where it was impossible for me to avoid aggroing mobs. You'll either need to kill it or handle it some other way so you can lose aggro; I would mez and then blur so I could open the chest.

Once you collect all the gems you'll head to the huge room with the stairs/pit. Normally this is the room that has the Ogre "krystul king" or something like that in the static zone (if that helps). Chrom does NOT spawn on top of you after you add the gems to the chest. He will spawn on the far side of the room and is non-aggro as well as permarooted. As noted in the description, he spawns pairs of adds starting at 75%. Chrom does NOT have a lot of HP so if you start to burn you will easily swarm yourself with adds. The adds spawn where each crystal around Chrom is so you know exactly where they are coming from. If you have no CC, it seemed easy enough to kill the adds then focus on Chrom again. I got lazy and started to just mez the adds as they spawned, stacked them up, and kept it locked with AE mez while burning Chrom down. You could kill Chrom in one go and not kill any adds if you really wanted.

If you evac out because you're going to wipe or don't want to deal with adds, you'll have to run back from the starting point. Do NOT enter the room until you know the adds have despawned. They will aggro you if you are in LOS. Took about ~5 min to depop. After you loot the chest there is a little portal in the corner that will zone you out onto the task giver.

First time took me about 45 minutes and that was with boxing, having no clue about anything, and over-preparing for Chrom because I thought he was going to be a monster truck. In general, I'd say you could do this task easily in 30 minutes. If you know it well and have multiple people running around collecting gems you could probably finish in 10-15 minutes if you tried. Easy task (if you can get to the taskgiver then you can surely beat it) and good way to get decent loot/spells. If you don't have CC just be prepared to deal with the adds somehow.

If you wipe, the adds despawn after a few minutes, and on the next attempt they will NOT spawn for any waves that you've already spawned. We ended up spawning all 6 waves, then evac'd. After the evac, we let the adds despawn, and we were able to fight Crom straight through without any adds spawning.
