Pandos Flintside may be found at +100, -615 inside Hogcaller's Inn of West Freeport and is on Faydarks Champions faction.. He's not on Find (Ctrl+F) but Trissa Whistlesong (Task Master) next to him is.

You say, 'Hail, Pandos Flintside'

Pandos Flintside says 'Greetings! Please move along. I am not paid to converse with strangers... unless of course you have a muffin or two..?'

Vendors that sell Muffins in West Freeport (7 copper):

Gern Tassel
Innkeep Evelona
Innkeep Palola
Innkeep Rille
Pincia Brownloe
Rashinda Elore

Give him a Muffin.

Pandos Flintside says 'Mmmm. This smells delicious. Oh great!! No milk!! Don't you have any sense?! Just tell me the name of the bakery and I will run and get it myself. I am sure Lady Shae will be safe.'

Your faction standing with Faydarks Champions has been adjusted by 1.
Your faction standing with King Tearis Thex has been adjusted by 1.
Your faction standing with Clerics of Tunare has been adjusted by 1.
Your faction standing with Soldiers of Tunare has been adjusted by 1.
Your faction standing with Crushbone Orcs has been adjusted by -1.
You gain experience!!

If you tell him you got the muffins at the Brownloe bakery, he'll go there. As soon as he leaves, this ward comes out and will talk to you. This dovetails into the Hogcaller's Inn quest.

Invis does not seem to work now
# Feb 08 2003 at 7:36 AM Rating: Decent
Well, it seems all of these carefully described methods for fixing these factions are useless now if you are KoS. No level or type of invisibility seems to work on him now, so even with harmony on, and invis cast upon you, he will take your muffins, and curse the day you were born. Oh well, I should have worked on this sooner I guess. Oh, and as mentioned previously, charm works to pacify him, but you get no faction hits from the quest then.

Oh, I see reading below that invis hasn't worked since about mid 2002, so it is possible that the quest is no longer possible with scowl faction, period, but may work with higher factions.

I snared him to the zone to East Freeport. Camo'd, returned, and engaged sneak behind him. I then dropped invis and started factioning up with muffins.

But have you tried harmonizing Pandos and not bother with the invis? Does that still work?
RE: Invis does not seem to work now

You may have missed it in my short post above, but yes, I tried all combinations of Harmony (the low level version) and Invisibility. I did this at Scowls, and the moment I approach the fellow without Harmony on, he starts to attack me, even at 65. With harmony on at max trade range he simply takes the muffins and tells me he'll not deal with beings like me. I'm not sure there are any tricks left to try for a non-sneak class like me.
Idea?

Why not try getting wolf form, hand him the items and then have invis cast on you while the trade window is still open? I'm not sure what you mean when you say Invis doesn't work. But when you open a trade window the invis effects wear off.

Sorry if I'm totally wrong, but worth a try? Hope it helps.

This wont work as of april 2003 patch, as wolf form retains your original faction on mobs now.

Which is good... damn dr00d trains in Unrest.
How it is
# Jan 14 2003 at 1:52 PM Rating: Default
I did this last night, and in 3 hours got from Threatening to max ally. Here's how:

If you are KOS to him, do not waste your time trying to invis, hide, sneak, charm, or killing orcs in CB. Invis will work if you have someone standing there casting it EVERY time you hand him something, but if they are off by even a second, he will attack. Normal charms do NOT work on him. Hide will work until you try to turn in, same with sneak. Crushbone orcs raise ONE faction he is on, but not all three, so you can kill there forever and still be KOS to him.

Here's what DOES work:
Have a druid above level 14 come with you and use Harmony... NOT Harmony of Nature (the so called upgrade to harmony at 45), but the first and original HARMONY. I tried both, only the original worked... He wouldn't attack with the newer one, but I didn't get the faction hits either.

When handing in, DO NOT STACK.. Put the muffins in the window four at a time. He only counts one muffin per stack if you d it that way, so each time you are wasting 19 muffins times the four slots = 76 muffins wasted every time. Doing it that way also makes it take longer because you have to go to the store sooner.

I noticed after going through about 5 stacks this way, I went from threatening to dubious, and didn't have to use harmony anymore. About 15 more stacks, and I went from dubious to apprehensive. Took about 20 stacks to get from apprehensive to indiff. Only took about 10 to get from indiff to amiable. Took 15 stacks to get to warmly, 20 stacks to get to kindly, 30 stacks to get to ally, then another 40 stacks to max it.

Altogether I used 155 stacks to get from upper threatening to max ally. I would imagine scowling to thretening is a high number, like 25 or 30 or so stacks. I would also imagine that going all the way through thretening would be about 20 stacks.

Altogether to go from can't get any worse to max ally should be only 220 stacks TOPS. Remember NOT to hand them in stacked, and it is inexpensive because you will only be paying for four muffins per faction hit. Turning them in stacked, you'll pay for 80 muffins per faction hit.

If anyone disagrees with this method, go try it before you argue with me. I just did this last night, so I know it works.

Wow I as a 52 druid invis in last night got to him did plain four then tried the 4 stacks of four and got 4 faction hits. I counted i had over 30 hits and i know I can't even carry that many. Maybe there is some other reason. I was indiff to him and became amiable.

RE: How it is

I forgot one major detail...

The reason the old harmony works and the new don't is the old is AoE...

Cast it on him from a distance, and then run close and cast it again.

You need the harmony spell to be on you too. This tricks the game into thinking you have good faction with him, not just that he's ghetto mezzed.
Another option to try

The sisters within Ocean of Tears will give you positive Tunare faction by turning in the pirates earrings. If your high enough to get within the POG and survive there, you will most likely find everything on the Seafury isle blue to light blue to you. The pirates and Gornit often are green. They drop earrings, just run back and forth from the Sea Fury isle to the Sister isle.

I already knew what would happen the moment I helped kill within the POG. It doesn't ***** over your Karana faction fortunately, only the Tunare.

Take care all.

Doing quests with charmed NPCs will not raise faction sadly. The rest of the quest will work, but faction will not change. You will either need to use a sneak/hide or FD method, or get a friend to help you with the invis method.

ok here how to do this took me a bit to figer this out when your KOS.

First fine a friend that can Inv ya

Fine Pandos Flintside, a dwarf in the Hogcaller's Inn, Go into room next to him, Stand far away as you can to where you can just give him 4 stack of 4 muffs, you will have to open door and hand him the muffs then have some one inv you then hit give, Then repit it. Hand him 4, 4 stacks of muffs and inv then give, This takes about 1000 buffs or so.

Faction broken?

I was Kos and did this you dont need a druid or enchanter. the easy way is this.
grab a bard to sing invisibility song stand back far enough not to aggro him and hand in muffins you can cancil the bard invise and start your trade by the time you have all 4 slots full with 4 muffins each your invise and can hit trade and get the faction.

im a 56 wizard and it took 800 to get to dubious
or about that

So, you went hunting in POG for whatever reason, and you are now KOS to sizable portions of Kelethin and Felwithe. But you actually care about this faction and want it back! Or you're a DE who has gotten themselves to non-KOS in Freeport, and you want to help yourself with some goody-two-shoes faction on Faydwer so those nasty guards will not chase you.

How do you do it? Here's the quest details to do so:

* * *

Notes from my experience with this quest:

I did this quest to fix my faction with my enchanter who had been to POG, and timewise it took me about 60-90 minutes to get out of KOS. (Alliance spells do NOT work on this NPC). Here is what you must do to get this to work.

1. Hire yourself a druid or ranger who is high enough to cast harmony and to cast invis on you.

2. Get invis, go to upstairs hallway. The dwarf guy stands at the end of the hall on the left. His high-elf ward is in a room and wanders in and out sometimes. Her name is Lady Shae, she's a paladin of Tunare, and she's on something called FelGuard faction. Apparently this is her own little faction, as she was apprehensive to me (high elf/Mithaniel Marr) and the dwarf was KOS when I first got there. The quest didn't seem to improve that any, and you can improve your faction with Lady Shade by giving her white wine (the little lush!). If she aggros on you, she's green anyway, about level 12. :)

3. I found it was best to stand at the wall lamp on the left-hand side. This was max trading range with the dwarf once he was harmonized. My harmo/invis'er stood to my right. Make sure you turn spell effects ON, as it is easiest to see when the harmo has been cast. Standing this close to the dwarf and having your harmo caster close also means you too get hit with the harmonize, and you can tell exactly when it fades.

4. Make sure you're still invisible at this point!

5. Have the ranger/druid harmonize Pandos.

6. Click off invis and give Pandos 4 stacks of 4 muffins (unstacked of course).

7. While you're putting the muffins in the trade window, have the druid/ranger re-invis you. Make a hot key to tell your invis'er when to invis you, and that will speed things up considerably.

8. Once invis and muffins ready, click trade. If you are NOT invisible when you click trade, you lose the muffins and get no faction! I found I could do 3-4 sets of trades with Pandos before harmony wore off, once we got the hang of unclick invis - trade window - invis - click trade.

I found out it took me over 1,000 muffins to get out of KOS. Once you are no longer KOS, you should no longer need to be invisible or harmony to trade with him and get faction, and faction goes up MUCH faster. (I didn't feel like sitting around Freeport all that much longer, so I fed him muffins til I was aimable. For a short guy, the man sure can pack 'em away).

At 6cp/muffin and approximately 1-2 hours worth of time, this is the cheapest, easiest way to fix your Felwithe/Kelethin faction!

Notes on fixing factions for "good" cities: If you are KOS to Freeport and want to know how to raise faction high enough to be able to buy from the muffin vendor, kill orcs in the Commons. Do NOT do any of the Crushbone orc belt quests - with those quests you're either killing off one or the other factions in FP (pally guards in N/EFP, or the corrupt militia in WFP), so just concentrate on wiping out orcs. My dark elf SK spent 2-3 levels around 8-12 whacking orcs, and she can walk freely through most of Freeport now, including banking. She has also hunted Mistmoore to get her non-KOS to bards, and Blackburrow to get her aimable to Qeynos (2-3 levels worth of killing in BB in the low teens - druids still don't like her, the snobs). Goblins in Butcherblock are good to make you favorable to Kaladim, and there are varying level camps there for that. (my enchanter solo'ed over the hill from Kaladim from 3-9, and thus killed many krag chicks and gobbies, so Kaladim just loves her now).

Wolf form only helps against racial faction (ie DE vs human, etc).

Once you've been to POG, you've KOS'ed against specific non-racial factions. Non-racial factions can only be fixed via hunting or quests, and it doesn't matter what race you are in many of these cases. (sometimes it has a minor influence, but NOT always).

Wolf form and/or any other illusion form does not help with this quest. This quest can only be completed through a combination of harmony/pacify + invisibility; other members of your party do not receive a faction hit.

And if you know, can you tell me, what quest i can do additionally to raise this same faction. Additoinally, a friend of mine helped another to kill a guard for some quest and is now kos in fp and all over ...how can she raise her faction, and what kind does she need to raise? would this help her as well? Heres How It Works - Revised
# May 28 2002 at 1:33 AM Rating: Default
Ok, since they nerfed the invisible so you can't open a trade window anymore you may think you can't do this quest if your faction is Maximum Scowl as it may be if you killed a lot of stuff in plane of Growth. But you can still do it - no problem!

You will need a druid to help you and there is a trick to how to get it started while you are still in Scowling faction.

First, you have the druid cast Harmony on Pandos. Then you have druid cast invisible on you, and you try to give an item to Pandos from as far away as possible. Keep moving up until you are at maximumn distance and able to finally trade.

Here is the tricky part - once you have found that maximum spot, click off your invisible, and hand 16 muffins to Pandos (4 in each slot). Have the druid invisible you again BEFORE you hit the trade button. Voila, you are now indifferent. Hit the trade button and you get your 16 faction hits. Now just repeat this step, of break invisible, giving muffins, re-invisible and then hitting the trade button. Your druid friend will have to stay with you and do the reinvising and occasional reharmony, but once you get to Threatening, you can finish the rest by yourself without fooling with the reinvising stuff. Took me about 1,000 muffins to get to threatening where I could do by myself and I was at maximum hate. To get to Maximum Ally it will take about another 2,000 or so muffins - sounds like a lot but you are handing in 16 muffins at a time so it only takes about 2 hours from start to finish and costs you less than 30pp of muffins. Pretty easy when you consider how tough it is to raise your faction from maximum hate to maximum ally in almost anything else.

BTW - killing orcs in crushbone is a total waste of time. I killed them there for about a week and it did not help my faction with the Emerald Warriors a hoot. Skip that and just do the muffins with Pandos.

I did this quest within the last week for my (agnostic) Dark Elf, and watched the faction messages fly by. Every so often I'd con the dwarf as I handed him muffins. Eventually I got him to con as Amiable, but then I went to Kelethin and Felwith to check the guards there and I was STILL KOS to them. Any suggestions other than killing my DE faction by slaughtering in CB?
RE: Dark Elf in Kelethin?
# May 28 2002 at 1:39 AM Rating: Default
The reason it 'seems' it did not work for you is because the guards are a different faction from either the Soldiers of Tunare (paladins) or the Clerics of Tunare (clerics). You need to do a different quest to raise your guard faction at the front gate and wandering around the city.

Guards are on one of two factions.. can't remember which.. but it's either Emerald Warriors (woodelf warriors) or the Merchants of Kelethin (duh). Either way, both of these factions can be raised in CB.. but not by killing orcs. The ONLY way i know of to raise merchant faction is by doing the slave key quests.. dont know if that lowers darkelf factions though. You can find out about that quest if you go to quest for the Crushbone zone. Hope it helps

Indigo Brotherhood
# Apr 18 2002 at 7:32 PM Rating: Default
Just a quick question here, if your faction drops with the Crushbone Orcs, will it mess up anything with the Indigo Brotherhood? I know that killing those orcs will directly lower the faction with the DE guards, but I remember hearing that the two are related, that having good faction with one will let you be ok with the others. I'm not sure how true this is, but being a DE myself, I wouldn't want to lower anythign with my own city if I could help it. As to why I would want to raise these factions...well it would be nice to walk around Faydwer and have one less group of people to worry about.

the two factions ARE related. the darkelves are secretly allied with the crushbone orcs to wipe out the woodelves/highelves, AND (surprisingly enough) the ogres and trolls. Anyway, it won't lower faction with the indigo brotherhood however, and thus it's a very good way for a darkelf to work on faction in kelethin.. as if one would want to..

Definative Answer - Fix Tunare Faction
# Mar 20 2002 at 3:17 PM Rating: Decent
Does the quest still work?: Yes!!

What faction is he on?: GFay's Champions I think(not King Tearix Thex for freaking sure nor miners)

How to do this:

First off if you've killed in PoG you are most likely max KoS. No problem!

Don't waste your time killing in Neriak or Crushbone. After hours of killing you won't change your faction by one step.

You can *NOT* charm NPC's and get faction by doing the hand-ins. Forget it..it won't work. You only get the exp.

He does *NOT* have innate see invis. It appears that Lady Shae may cast see invis on Padros at some point. The point is, if he can see thru invis just kill him (or maybe dispell, I didn't try it) since your faction is bottomed out anyway (if you killed in PoG) it's not going to make any difference taking one more hit. Once he respawns, he should not see thru invis.

If you are KoS to Pandros, you *need* a druid to harmony him. Once harmony has been cast, have the druid invis you. Open a trade window with Pandros from max trade distance. Since he has harmony on him he will not attack. Put 4 muffins in each of the 4 trade slots (for a max of 16) and have the druid re-invis you. Click trade. Hello 16 faction hits (plus a tiny bit of exp...I should have had AA exp set to 100% when I did this). You will not need to re-harmony him. Repeat the trade/invis portion until you are out of muffins.

Once out of muffins, hand your backpack to the druid and ask him to go buy another backpack full so you don't have to move. After about 800 muffins I became dubious to Pandros so I could do the trades without invis. After 1909 (including the 800 to get to dubious) muffins and 2 hours of clicking I became amiable from max KoS.

This is so simple and I hope I've outlined the best way to do this. Some of the info is repeating what's already been said but the most important parts are
1. Don't kill things for faction (waste of time)
2. He doesn't have innate see-invis
3. It only takes about 2 hours to get to amiable

Good post! Thanks for the info. I'll deffinatly use it to get my Faaydark faction back.

Also to reconfirm that killing things for faction IS a waste of time: After killing the wrong priest in the Temple of Solusek Ro and killing Shadowed Men for 2 weeks my faction wasn't getting any better. I spent about 200p on the "human" orc in South Ro and 15 minutes and was max ally again. :)

Khanntus here again

Hmm now i turned in 1 muffin for each slot total of 4 muffins it was working for me, if that doesnt work do the bat wing quest in felwith it is listed below think you have to be dubous to keepr of art just do the ba wing it brings up faydwer champions faction, you might have to make 3-4 trips to ec were unlimited bat wings are sold, be patient it can take couple days to a week to finally get to where you want it.

Trying to fix my fraction after a Day in PoG , i took my enchanter friend to Pandos. Got my friend to charm him and handed in the muffins, however i only recieved the xp and 'wheres the milk' messages, no fraction adjustments. Should this method work? as it made me indiff fraction with Pandos instead of the usual KoS.
