Rain of Fear Information & Guides: An Overview | Group Progression & Task List | Raid Progression | Visible Armor

This task is the fourth in a series of six. It's a shared task (1-6 players) that begins with Reena Kedson (map) in Grelleth's Palace, the Chateau of Filth. She is located at 1200, 265, 0 (zone-in area).

Pre-Requisites:
- Level 85
- Completed "Rise of the Swinetor"
- Completed "Dirty Tactics"
- Completed "Double Trouble"

You say, 'Hail, Reena Kedson'

Reena Kedson says '______? Nice to see you. I hope you're here to help us out. These Fear Shards are causing more trouble than we expected. Still, I've had enough of these Alaran gods. We have enough trouble with the Norrathian ones. Let's put an end to this together, as one people. And we have a [plan].'

You say, 'Plan?'

Reena Kedson says 'It's simple. In theory. First, gather [information] on our enemies. Second, we'll have to take out the [scouts] and any other [defenses]. Then, after we gain [access], we'll have to deal with the palace [forces], and recover any [clues] as to their further plans.'

You say, 'Access?'

Reena Kedson says 'The minute we gain a foothold, they pull out another barrier. This time of the magical variety. It looks like Wuran, a priest of decay and Grelleth's son, has established a magical perimeter that very shortly we won't be able to pierce. I've got Jaris working on this, but he's going to need help. I'm recommending you.'

You have been assigned the task 'Halt the Decay'

Jarius Calmur has reported to Reena that after your initial successes, Grelleth's priests of decay have set up wards, under her son Wuran's direction. These will prevent any further attacks on the palace by any sizable force without incurring casualties. You'll need to get rid of the wards.

Discuss the wards with Jaris 0/1 (Grelleth's Palace)

Hail Jaris Calmur (map), also in the expedition camp.

You say, 'Hail, Jaris Calmur'

Jaris Calmur says 'I informed Reena, but the wards that Wuran and the other decay priests and necromantic filthcasters have put up are alarmingly strong. It's made effective against both Alaran and Norrathian, but those swinetor will never feel the effects. I can dispel them, but I'd need some source of their magic. Can I count on you for that?'

Jaris Calmur says 'Our plans will be perfect. We can't afford to make mistakes with magic this powerful.'

Defeat swinetor filthcasters and decay priests 0/3 (Grelleth's Palace)

Recover a swinetor magical trinket and give it to Jaris Calmur 0/1 (Grelleth's Palace)

Task Window Says: Kill the filthcasters and priests setting up the wards. Retrieve magical trinkets found in the upper floors of the palace for Jaris to form a countermeasure to the wards.

The kill targets are found throughout the outdoor area and in the palace.

The trinkets are found in the upper floor of the palace (scattered as ground spawns). Known spawn points:

5815, -330, 402 (in a room just outside of Kelmur the Quartermaster's area on the second floor)
6645, 185, 413 (in the small dead end room with bookcases)
6640, 200, 413 (in the small dead end room with bookcases)
6420, 60, 395 (in a room full of rusted barrels and equipment)
6285, 345, 400 (on a slanted table)
6175, 280, 400 (on a flat table)

Upon turn-in:

Jaris Calmur says 'Here is the wardbreaker. A fine piece of magical craftsmanship if I do say so myself. I couldn't have done it without you, of course. Take it up to the palace and use it near the entrance. That should shatter every ward in that so-called palace.'

You receive a "Ward Breaker".

Use the ward breaker near the palace entrance 0/1 (Grelleth's Palace)

Task Window Says: Use the custom designed Ward Breaker made by Jaris to destroy the wards. Use it by the palace.

Right-click the breaker by the palace entrance.

Jaris' ward breaker device emits a flash of energy and flickers appear all around the palace as the wards are dispelled. You hear a frantic, irritated voice in your head, 'So you can destroy my precious wards. But you still won't win! Sholoth is on our side. For Sholoth and Grelleth!'

Give your report to Reena Kedson 0/1 (Grelleth's Palace)

You say, 'Hail, Reena Kedson'

Reena Kedson says '_____, you never fail to impress. With their magical defenses gone, the swinetor are going to get desperate. I think it's time to stop with the guerellia strikes and hit them hard. What do you say?'

Wuran's wards are destroyed and the priests and filthcasters halted. The campaign against the swinetor has achieved a significant victory. Wuran, however, is not pleased.
