Pre-Requisites for Participating:
- None

You say, 'Hail, Noble Helssen'

Noble Helssen says '_____, you have done well removing the tainted [weapons] from the city and defeating the Iceshards, but now the King's life is in danger. He is under the influence of the crystal, and if he cannot be saved, then Kael will be enveloped in his madness. If you can muster a [large] force, we can divest the King of the crystal's power. If you can only field a [small] group, still we must try!'

You say, 'I have a large force'

Noble Helssen says 'Good. Outside the temple the King still strides about, raving and waving his accursed axe, bellowing epithets at his visions of Dain Frostreaver IV and Lord Yelinak. We must [go] and confront him now.'

You say, 'Let's go'

LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
You have entered Kael Drakkel: The Madness of King Tormax.

Summary

- Say "ready" to Noble Helssen to trigger the event.
- Offtank or kite King Tormax (not too far from the Crystal) for the duration of the event (summons from 100% and leashed to the event area).
- DPS the crystal of fear to 80% to spawn "Dain Frostreaver IV" and 4x "a coldain figment".
--- Dain Frostreaver IV spawns with a large damage shield (can be taken off with Cleric Mark of Erion) and starts banishing players to the arena (three at a time) after he reaches 50% health (KOS mobs in arena).
--- Coldain figments are snareable/rootable.
- DPS the crystal of fear to 50% to spawn "Lord Yelinak".
--- Lord Yelinak has emote-based frontal, rear, and PBAE nukes; as well as a secondary, large emote-based unavoidable PBAE nuke (move the disruption crystals to his location to disrupt this AE).
- DPS the crystal of fear to 15% to spawn all six of the above mobs.
--- All mobs retain their original abilities. Kill them all to make the crystal attackable again.
- Destroy the crystal of fear.

Triggering the Event

Speak with Noble Helssen to trigger the event. Note that as soon as this happens, King Tormax goes aggro (summons from 100% health and is auto-aggro).

You say, 'Hail, Noble Helssen'

Noble Helssen says 'We have failed to wake King Tormax from his trance of rage. Every second he grows more agitated, such that we cannot approach him. He defends the crystal, brandishing his axe at anyone who dares glance at the malevolent thing. We have no choice: We must [destroy] the crystal! If you have not the heart to face such trials, [leave] now!'

You say, 'Destroy the crystal?'

Noble Helssen says 'Whatever the King may do, or whatever strange apparitions may confront us, we must destroy the crystal. We will fight the King if there is no other option, but we cannot let him fall in battle. Are you [ready]? You should all rush the crystal at once!'

You say, 'Ready!'

Noble Helssen says 'Go, adventurers, free the King from his madness!'

Semkak Prophet of Vallon shouts 'By Rallos' Axe, to just stand here and watch! Must we trust these puny ones?'

Yetarr shouts 'It is as it must be. We cannot fight our king, even in his current state.'

Kyenka shouts 'Keep our king safe! Use your healing magics if you must!'

Noble Helssen says 'You must attack the crystal when it is vulnerable! Destroying it is the only way to free the King and save Kael! Do not [leave] before you have finished what you began!'

King Tormax

King Tormax must be kept alive for the duration of the event (he can be healed with player spells). If he dies, the event immediately fails and resets. While he has to be kept alive not too far away from the Crystal, he will also remain aggro for the entire event.

King Tormax summons from 100% health; hits for a max ~40,000 and single-target rampages (no flurry; no AE rampage). He is immune to slow spells as well as all forms of crowd control (no root, snare, mez, stun, or charm). He regularly casts two spells:

Axe Swipe: Directional 100', Magic (-940)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 35000

Banishment of Fears: PB AE 100', Magic (-940)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 25000

He is leashed to the area in which he's found (can be pulled towards the ramps on either side of the room, but not TO the ramps). If you leash him, he hits his target with "Kingly Punishment", warps back to the crystal, and lets out this emote:

King Tormax lashes out doubly for being drawn too far from the crystal of fear.

Kingly Punishment: Single Target, Unresistable (0)
1: Decrease HP when cast by 75000
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 30000 per tick
3: Decrease Movement by 20000%

King Tormax must be kept alive for the duration of the event. If he is killed, the event immediately fails and resets.

You'll also see this emote from time to time, but it's unclear what causes it, or what effect it has (information needed):

King Tormax's strength increases as his anger grows.

You'll see this emote as well, where the 'blank' is a random (?) player or hostile NPC:

King Tormax unleashes his wrath against _____.

If you see this emote, it means he's buffed himself with "Rage of Tormax", a 2-tick attack buff (it's not known what brings this about; it may be health-based, but unconfirmed):

King Tormax defends himself from your withering onslought.

Rage of Tormax: Self 0', Unresistable (0)
1: Increase Attack Speed by 35%

Event Progress

In the middle of the event area is "a crystal of fear" (attackable; does not fight back). To finish the event, this crystal has to be destroyed (DPS'able via regular means, except that it's a belly caster -- to land spells on it, you must be standing in its melee range).

At 80%, the crystal locks health, and Dain Frostreaver IV + 4x "a coldain figment" spawn. Kill those five mobs to unlock the crystal's health.

At 50%, the crystal again locks health, and Lord Yelinak spawns. Kill Lord Yelinak to unlock the crystal's health.

At 13%, the crystal again locks health, and all of the above mobs respawn. Kill Lord Yelinak, Dain Frostreaver IV, and the four coldains (kill order does not matter) to unlock the crystal's health.

NOTE: While the crystal of fear's health locked, it also has an aura around it called "Crystal Gravitation". This acts as a pushback from the crystal's location, so you'll need to fight mobs away from it.

Crystal Gravitation: Single Target, Unresistable (0)
1: Slow Push (400)

In addition, throughout the entire event, the crystal pulses the AE "Crystal Resonance":

Crystal Resonance: PB AE 300', (-500)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 12000

Destroy the crystal to complete the event.

80%: Dain Frostreaver IV & the Coldain Figments

When the crystal of fear reaches 80%, you'll see these emotes:

Noble Helssen shouts 'King Tormax's mind has conjured a vision of Dain Frostreaver IV!'

a crystal of fear discharges short range energy as it regains its defenses.

Dain Frostreaver IV's form takes shape, wielding a heavy, armor-breaking axe.

"Dain Frostreaver IV" + 4x "a coldain fragment" spawn at the ice wall just north of the crystal's location. They immediately auto-aggro the raid.

The coldain figments each summon when damaged below 98% health; hit for a max ~25,000 (no rampage; no flurry); are rootable/snareable and stunnable, but not mezzable or charmable. They only cast spells while the Dain is alive.

Dain Frostreaver IV summons from 100% health; hits for a max ~40,000 and single-target rampages (no flurry; no AE rampage). Upon spawning, he is buffed with the permanent damage shield "Dain's Defense Breaker" (dispellable by players' reverse damage shield debuffs):

Dain's Defense Breaker: Self 0', Unresistable (0)
1: Strikethrough (1%)
2: Increase Damage Shield by 4000
3: Increase Attack Speed by 50%

Dain Frostreaver IV casts "Dain's Skull Cracker" every 20-25 seconds:

Dain's Skull Cracker: Single Target, Magic (-940)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 40000
2: Stun (1.00 sec)

He also has three emote-based attacks:

Emote

Dain Frostreaver IV marshals his forces.

The above emote occurs every 35 seconds. 10 seconds after this emote, Dain Frostreaver IV and each of the coldain figments cast "Frenzied Blow" on their targets:

Dain Frostreaver IV executes a coordinated attack.

Frenzied Blow: Single Target, Magic (-940)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 10000

Emote

Dain Frostreaver IV shifts his weight.

The above emote is seen after Dain passes 60% health. It occurs every 20 seconds. 10 seconds after the above emote, he AEs "Armored Roll":

Dain Frostreaver IV rolls into his enemies.

Armored Roll: PB AE 70', Unresistable (0)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 40000

Emote

Dain Frostreaver IV shouts 'You will be banished, _____, _____, and _____!'

The above emote is seen after Dain passes 60% health. It occurs every 50 seconds. 10 seconds after this emote, the three named players are banished to the arena into the middle of a pack of 5-6 wolf figments, and rooted in place for a short time with "Banishment Root":

Dain Frostreaver IV shouts 'Begone, _____!'
Dain Frostreaver IV shouts 'Begone, _____!'
Dain Frostreaver IV shouts 'Begone, _____!'

The banishment strips invisibility effects, so the banished players will need a very quick casting invisibility spell or a divine aura spell to avoid death from the wolf figments. (The wolf figments are rooted in place; don't summon; and aren't killable. They hit for a max ~18,000.)

Kill the Dain and all four coldain figments to progress the event:

Dain Frostreaver IV has been slain by _____!
a coldain figment has been slain by _____!
a coldain figment has been slain by _____!
a coldain figment has been slain by _____!
a coldain figment has been slain by _____!

Noble Helssen says 'You have destroyed the figments of King Tormax's mind! The crystal shard has become vulnerable again!'

King Tormax roars with anger as the source of his power becomes vulnerable.

50%: Lord Yelinak

When the crystal of fear reaches 50%, you see these emotes:

Noble Helssen shouts 'King Tormax's mind has conjured a vision of Lord Yelinak!'

a crystal of fear discharges short range energy as it regains its defenses.

Lord Yelinak is manifested from King Tormax's fears!

Lord Yelinak spawns in the middle of the event area and immediately auto-aggro's. He summons from 100% health; hits for a max ~40,000; single-target rampages; and AE rampages (full damage). He has several emote-based attacks:

Emote

Lord Yelinak begins to flap his wings.

The above emote occurs randomly and is a 10-second warning for "Wing Gust":

Lord Yelinak churns the air with his wings.

Wing Gust: PB AE 100', Cold (-940)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 20000 (also a knockback)

Emote

Lord Yelinak gathers frost in his throat.

The above emote occurs randomly and is a 10-second warning for the frontal AE "Chilling Breath":

Lord Yelinak exhales frost.

Chilling Breath: Directional 200', Cold (-940)
1: Decrease Spell Haste by 15%
2: Limit: Spell Type (Detrimental only)
3: Decrease Attack Speed by 25%
4: Decrease Hitpoints by 25000 per tick (3 ticks)
5: Increase Curse Counter by 50

Emote

Lord Yelinak's tail starts to twitch.

The above emote occurs randomly and is a 10-second warning for the rear AE "Tail Thunder":

Lord Yelinak thunders his tail against the ground.

Tail Thunder: Directional 70', Magic (-940)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 22000
2: Stun (2.00 sec)

Emote

Lord Yelinak concentrates and begins to swirl the clouds above.

The above emote occurs every 50 seconds and is a 15-second warning for "Icerain Explosion":

Lord Yelinak calls down a barrage of ice from the sky.

Icerain Explosion: PB AE 300', Cold (-940)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 100000

Noble Helssen says 'By Sullon that was nasty! Perhaps you can find a way to disrupt that dragon to prevent that from happening again!.'

The "Icerain Explosion" AE can be prevented. In the vicinity of the crystal of fear are numerous crystals called "a disruption shard". When you see the warning emote, move one of these crystals to Yelinak's location. If disrupted, you'll see this emote:

Lord Yelinak's concentration is broken by the crystal shard, and his rain of ice spell is interrupted.

Kill Lord Yelinak to progress the event.

Lord Yelinak has been slain by _____!

King Tormax roars with anger as the source of his power becomes vulnerable.

13%: Everyone's Here

When the crystal reaches 13%, it locks health and 1x "Lord Yelinak" + 1x "Dain Frostreaver IV" + 4x "a coldain figment" spawn and attack:

Noble Helssen shouts 'King Tormax is now beset by both Lord Yelinak and Dain Frostreaver IV!'

a crystal of fear discharges short range energy as it regains its defenses.

Lord Yelinak is manifested from King Tormax's fears!

Dain Frostreaver IV's form takes shape, wielding swift, sure-hitting hammers.

All six mobs are of the exact same difficulty and have the same abilities as previously see in the event. Kill all six of them (in any order) to unlock the crystal of fear's health:

Lord Yelinak has been slain by _____!

Event Completion

Destroy the crystal to complete the event.

a crystal of fear has been slain by _____!

King Tormax drops his axe as the blades crumble into dust. He shakes his head as if waking from a dream.

King Tormax looks at the temple grounds. His retainers watch his face and keep their hands upon their weapons. Slowly the King's faculties return. 'Against whom have I fought? Blood seeps from wounds I knew not that I had, and my hand is numb as though I have wielded steel against steel.'

Noble Helssen shouts 'Forgive us your wounds, my King, for your mind was not your own. The brothers of Iceshard wielded a crystal of immense power against you -- against all the citizens of Kael. The brothers now lie in their own blood. May their memory be purged from our minds and records. But though we cut them down, we could not sever the crystal's hold upon you without force.'

Yetarr shouts 'My King, you should retire to the Keep. Allow your wounds and your mind to mend.'

King Tormax raises his hand and silences his retainer. 'My mind has remained long enough in idleness. Searching my memory is like peering through a thick fog: I see only flashes of steel and the faces of Dain Frostreaver and Lord Yelinak peering at me, mocking me. What has become of the city in my absence?

Noble Helssen shouts 'There is much to recount. Many of our people are dead, and it shall be no easy task repairing the trust between the kromrif and kromzek. With your return, though, there is hope the city will not fall to fear and civil war. At your command, my King, we shall enter the Keep and begin immediately to repair the destruction wrought by the Iceshards.'

King Tormax looks to Noble Helssen and creases his brow. 'Your words sting more than your steel. My wounds do not compare to those inflicted upon Kael Drakkel. We shall return to the Keep, but I shall take no aid until I have given it to the city.'

Noble Helssen shouts 'As you command, so shall it be done!' Addressing the adventurers before him, Noble Helssen continues, 'Adventurers, you have proven your worth. You have saved King Tormax and the entire city. I hold you as warriors of great strength and honored friends of Kael Drakkel. When you [leave] here, do so knowing that we are indebted to you.'

Just messing around with this raid and we were unable to kill the crystal with the King off-tanked too far away. So that's a mechanic that isn't listed - Keep the King pretty close to the crystal.

RE:

"Offtank or kite King Tormax for the duration of the event (summons from 100% and leashed to the event area)."

If he summons from 100%, kiting is out of the question, no?
