Rain of Fear Information & Guides: An Overview | Group Progression & Task List | Raid Progression | Visible Armor

This is the first task in a series of three; a shared task (1-6 players) that begins with a gnome named Hurble (map) in Zeixshi-Kar's Awakening. It's located at 500, -1715, 145 close to the northern cost in the northeastern part of the zone, nearby a blimp).

Pre-Requisites:
- Level 85
- No tasks

You say, 'Hail, Hurble'

Hurble says 'I don't know what is going on around here, but I could really use your [help].'

You say, 'What help?'

Hurble says 'I am the captain of the merchant airship you see behind me. Two days ago I set sail from Erudin on my way to Felwithe with a shipment of spell books. As I approached the Buried Sea, strong winds beset my airship and carried me all the way here, and eventually forced me to make an emergency landing. That is not the [worst part] though.'

You say, 'What's the worst part?'

Hurble says 'The shipment of spell books I was carrying have sprung to life! It's the darndest thing I have ever seen! I need someone to [take care] of this mess. My crew fled into the icy wastes once the books started flying around, so I have no one else to help me.'

You say, 'I will take care of it'

Hurble says 'Um, something else you may need to know. I may have, um, stolen a particularly powerful spell book from a rather cantankerous wizard. When we crashed here, the other spell books ripped the mysterious tome to shreds, eating some very important pages. I need to get those pages back.'

You have been assigned the task 'This Can't Be Good!'.

Hurble was transporting some spell books on his airship when he crashed in the Eastern Wastes. The spell books have come alive and must be dealt with.

Kill animated spell books near the airship wreckage and collect glowing pages.

Loot glowing pages from animated spell books 0/6 (Zeixshi-Kar's Awakening)

Deliver the glowing pages to Hurble 0/6 (Zeixshi-Kar's Awakening)

Speak with Hurble 0/1 (Zeixshi-Kar's Awakening)

You receive a Mysterious Tome.

Give the Mysterious Tome to Falmonius 0/1 (Plane of Knowledge)

Falmonius is located in the Plane of Knowledge at 5, 1110, 34 (library's main floor, across from the elevator, up the ladder).

Speak with Falmonius 0/1 (Plane of Knowledge)
Falmonius is an Erudite in yellow robes on the top shelf of the PoK library entry tier, right next to a Magician vendor.

If people care these days about the quest text being here on the quest page, here it is:
After handing in pages:
Hurble places the pages into the badly tattered spell book and the tome begins to glow. Hurble quickly throws the tome to the ground. 'Um, you may want to stand back.' The tome erupts in purple flames. The flames grow in intensity and a mass of magical energy bursts forth, almost knocking you to the ground. Six motes of light fly from the book and head into various directions further into the Eastern Wastes. Hurble looks worried. 'I don't think that was supposed to happen. I suppose I have no choice, but to tell you what's [really going on].'
You say, 'What's really going on?'
Hurble says, 'The truth is that I stole these spell books from my master, Falmonius and when he finds out, he will not be very pleased with me to put it mildly. This particular spell book was used to imprison six very angry shadows that Falmonius captured while in the Plane of Shadow. There must be some sort of mysterious magic here that has animated the spell books. I am afraid I am going to have to ask you to talk to [Falmonius].'
You say, 'You want me to be your fall guy with Falmonius?'
Hurble says, 'He is not going to be pleased, but he needs to know what has happened here. I would talk to him, but I am pretty sure he would incinerate me on the spot when he found out what I have done. When he isn't stalking the various planes of existence, he can be found perusing the spell vendors in the Plane of Knowledge. Take the spell book and give it to him. He will know what must be done.'

After handing in book:
You say, 'Hail, Falmonius'
Falmonius's brow furrows as you explain what just took place in the Eastern Wastes. 'Hurble! That idiot! I shall deal with him later. In the meantime it is vital that those shadows be [rebound] to the tome.'
You say, 'How would they be rebound?'
Falmonius says 'From what you have described, those motes of light that escaped the tome are most likely the shadows, escaping their prison. Those shadows must be contained! Gather some adventuring supplies and once you are ready to continue, speak with me again.

Rewards:
337 platinum, 5 gold
Experience (3-4% in Level 96 + 4 AAs)

NOTE: The Crystal Caverns task "Stalking the Shadows" follows this one (given by Falmonius).

This is a nice "repeatable" quest for level 96-98ish. I was dual-boxing it with mediocre 96 warrior and shaman. Just kill about dozen animated books until I got all quest pieces, hail Hurble and gate back to PoK (gate potions, etc.) - Reward was nice ~2% level and 4 AA's... Rinse and repeat every 6 hours (or once per weekend like I did...). Combine with Lesson and it was nice no-threat exp place.

The quest actually is part #1 of a quest series, once you finish #2 which is the one where you kill shadows in Crystal Caverns, you cannot do this any more.

The animated books are easily single-pullable. They have about 1.3 million HP and hit for about 10k max and are just pure melee so easy kills.

(edit) Oh, and I can testify, everyone has to be in PoK, and close to Falmonions, to get the exp reward. I once had my shaman at the bank instead of at the Library where Falmonious is and he did not get any EXP.

Exp is correct, received about 3% at 96. The mobs don't summon and are very easy to kite. as said before, group must be at Falmonius for final hail.

No, your whole group has to be close to Falmonius... I hate these nerfs.... no exp in the zone but you get the task ready (got Mercenary Achievement, but no Exp from Task).

Make sure your whole group goes to PoK for the final hail if you want XP from the mission...
