Rain of Fear Information & Guides: An Overview | Group Progression & Task List | Raid Progression | Visible Armor

This is a solo task that begins with Keeper Nenth (map) in Shard's Landing. This is a Carnifex mob located at -500, 1615, -502 (this is the arena of the Underground City -- the tunnel area that extends from the zone's northwestern valley).

    Pre-requisites:
    - Level 85
    - No tasks

    You say, 'Hail, Keeper Nenth'

Keeper Nenth stares at you in surprise, 'What could One want of us, that they would dare to disturb our silent meditation? It seems unlikely that the Silent One would have sent such a noisy messenger in our hour of [need].'

    You say, 'Your need?'

Keeper Nenth coos to itself, clearly delighted with your interest in its plight, 'Clearly One has not been sent to our aid - and yet, that may not stop One from working such miracles as a messenger may. If One would but hear our [plea], perhaps an agreement may be reached?'

    You say, 'What plea?'

Keeper Nenth sighs, covering its heart with one hand, 'Sore has been our heart of late over the fate of those poor wretches known as the forsaken. They who rejected our love are loved all the more strongly and might yet be saved from an even worse [fate].'

    You say, 'What fate?'

Keeper Nenth says, in Alaran, 'Among the forsaken, three poor souls stand out. It is said they make treasures of rubbish and guard them closely, foregoing both food and rest. In their madness all sight of hope has been lost, leaving only the most pitiful of existences. One might [free] them of their burdens by relieving them of that which they guard so closely.'

You say, 'How would we free them?'

Keeper Nenth says, in Alaran, 'If One were to seek out those known as Ashki, Lera, and Selya, the cause of their hearts' ache might be found. By retrieving the source of each one's misery, One might redeem them from their fate.'

You have been assigned the task 'Coveted Rubbish'.

Keeper Nenth has asked you to aid in the ridding of forsaken Alarans of their unnatural possessions.

Speak to Ashki and learn of its obsession 0/1 (Shard's Landing)

Note: There are see-invis KOS NPCs inside NPC houses.

Ashki (map) spawns at about -20, -1560, 5 (the middle hut of the three west huts, in the Forsaken Village in the zone's east-central valley).

You say, 'Hail, Ashki the Forsaken'

Ashki the Forsaken says, in Alaran, 'Hush! You'll scare my beloved pets, and I don't want them [running] around and messing up their fur while I'm grooming them.'

    You say, 'Running?'

Ashki the Forsaken says, in Alaran, 'Well, admittedly they don't run much anymore, since I broke their necks. *chuckle* You see, they kept trying to run away, and I [couldn't let them] do that, now could I?'

    You say, 'Couldn't let them?'

Ashki the Forsaken smiles faintly, 'Let's just say, they're my precious pets. I couldn't live without them.' It resumes brushing one of the dead oashim, humming softly.

Search the dead oashims' corpses for the object which causes Ashki's unrest 0/1 (Shard's Landing)

Find well-groomed oashim corpses arond Ashki's house and /open them until you loot "A Grease-Blackened Scroll".

Speak to Lera and learn of its obsession 0/1 (Shard's Landing)

Lera (map) spawns in the house at about -210, -1630, 10 (the southwest hut in the Forsaken Village in the zone's east-central valley).

You say, 'Hail, Lera the Forsaken'

Lera the Forsaken says, in Alaran, 'Can't you see I'm busy trying to repair my gardening tools right now? Honestly! How am I supposed to keep my garden free of weeds if my tools keep [breaking] like this?'

    You say, 'Breaking?'

Lera the Forsaken says, in Alaran, 'Well, it's not like I mistreat my tools, or anything, but for some reason they keep getting dented and chipped. Maybe the dirt out back is too rough? Is that even possible?? My [plants] seem to be managing alright, but my poor tools just can't seem to take it.'

    You say, 'Your plants?'

Lera the Forsaken says, in Alaran, 'Hmph! It's none of your business what kind of plants I'm growing. So kindly let me get back to my work - oh! - and stay out of my garden! If you trample my poor plants, there'll be hell to pay!'

Search the "plants" in the garden for the object which causes Lera's unrest 0/1 (Shard's Landing)

Find eerily familiar plants (these are actually bone piles around Lera's house) and /open them until you loot "A Garden-Variety Skull".

Speak to Selya and learn of its obsession 0/1 (Shard's Landing)

Selya (map) is found at 50, -1920, 1 (the middle house of the eastern set of houses in the Forsaken Village in the zone's east-central valley).

You say, 'Hail, Selya the Forsaken'

Selya the Forsaken looks up in alarm, 'Please be careful where you step! Just think [what] would happen if you were to knock over one of my vases and it broke!'

    You say, 'What would happen?'

Selya the Forsaken says, in Alaran, 'Oh... er, it would break. Yes! And it would be irreplaceable! These are all my own work, you know, and each one is absolutely priceless, so be very careful!' It sinks back against the wall, apparently stressed just at the thought of broken vases, and mutters to itself, 'Perhaps pottery was a bad idea, after all.'

Destroy vases to find the object which causes Selya's unrest 0/1 (Shard's Landing)

Find poorly crafted vases around Selya's house and /open them until you loot "A Strange Glass Shard".

Deliver A Grease-Blackened Scroll to Keeper Nenth 0/1 (Shard's Landing)

Deliver A Garden-Variety Skull to Keeper Nenth 0/1 (Shard's Landing)

Deliver A Strange Glass Shard to Keeper Nenth 0/1 (Shard's Landing)

Speak to Keeper Nenth 0/1 (Shard's Landing)

On these last 3 hails, you'll need to wait for the animation to be over with and right on top of them for the hails to give you credit.

Deliver Nenth's message to Ashki 0/1 (Shard's Landing)

Deliver Nenth's message to Lera 0/1 (Shard's Landing)

Deliver Nenth's message to Selya 0/1 (Shard's Landing)

Return to Keeper Nenth 0/1 (Shard's Landing)

On the last 3 hails, delivering the messages to the 3, you have to be right on top of them and wait for animation to be over. I was within hail range and I didn't get update. Had to do it again while closer to them.

This little task is on a 6hr lockout. But, if you request and receive the task when you go to bed then the next morning do the task when you first wake up and when you finish you can request it again right away. The xp prior to lvl 92 is really pretty amazing when you figure it takes about 20min to do. Furthermore you can collect several collectables along the route. Stay out of the huts, there is only one hut that dose not have see thru so don't take the chance if you see a collectable inside. Also you must first /target the rats/skulls to open them, no atk needed but, you do need to atk the vases in order to break them but again must be targeted first. I did this task on my pocket shammy whenever I had free time and took him from 88 up to lvl 92 in a couple of weeks, considering I only use him for buffs it was fine. I still get between 2% and 3% at lvl 92 + the 3 aa's.

    LONG LIVE EQ!!!

Anyone have any ideas on how to loot the rats and plants? I have right clicked and left clicked but no effect. I have tried /loot but no luck. This takes the fun out of the game.

The three hails in the village at the end of the task appear to update only at the end of the animation - don't "hail and dash", or you won't get the update.

Just a head's up on the final round of three hails to the mobs inside of the forsaken village (the delivering Nenth's message parts).

You need to get nice and close to the three mobs when you do the hail. Otherwise the task won't update. For Lera, that means get your face into the back outside wall of that house (thus avoiding the see invis mobs inside).
