Rain of Fear Information & Guides: An Overview | Group Progression & Task List | Raid Progression | Visible Armor

This task begins with Bodhessel the Caller (map) in Shard's Landing at location 470, -1925 (in the Forsaken Village in the zone's east valley).

Pre-Requisites:
- Level 85
- No tasks

You say, 'Hail, Bodhessel the Caller'

Bodhessel the Caller says 'Tell me, _____, have you ever forgotten your [purpose]? Have you ever wandered the wilderness to find your way back [home]?'

You say, 'Back home?'

Bodhessel the Caller gazes past you, their hate-filled eyes boring into the mountain beyond, 'Our home is here. It has been three heaps and twelve legs since I was last [underground]. Riddance is good, but we are not enemies.'

You say, 'Underground?'

Bodhessel the Caller frowns as they look down at their ragged clothes, 'I do not look right anymore. Hope has won the clothing war, but only once, I swear. The Underground City is the dwelling of The Heralds of the Unspoken! Surely you have heard of [Ali].'

You say, 'What purpose?'

Bodhessel the Caller raises their arms to the sky and stares above, 'Purpose? Per pus. You are right: pus is gross, but not frightening. We sow fear in service of Fear itself. Do you know [Ali]?'

You say, 'Ali?'

Bodhessel the Caller says 'You will know Ali soon enough, no mind. Sleep while you can. But they must not sleep. We can stop their sleep before it gets too deep. If it gets deep, they will rise too high. Will you [help] me?'

You say, 'I will help'

Bodhessel the Caller says 'Oh, good. Then we will not kill you. Just scare you to death!' Bodhessel cackles for a good long while before catching itself, 'We have left that city. I did not understand, but then I did. We were lifted up, shaped by the horror to complete the circle. Everyone in that city is the same: others fear them, but they fear no one. That is furious. Fearious. We will make them all fear you, [agreed]?'

You say, 'Agreed!'

Bodhessel the Caller says 'Do you sleep? They sleep in peace. They should have nightmares. You and I will be their nightmares. Go to where they sleep. Go through the mouth. Or is it the nose? Either way, kill all those. Give them fear and be blessed with it yourself, child _____.'

You have been assigned the task 'Fear Begins at Home'.

Bodhessel wants you to kill Alaran in the nearby cult compound that it was exiled from. It is clearly insane, but it seems to have influence among the other exiles and may be able to put in a good word for you. Search for an entrance in the canyon to the west.

Find the Underground City 0/1 (Shard's Landing)

This is the area that connects to the zone's northwestern valley (labeled on this map for a different task).

Kill Alaran in the housing and council area 0/10 (Shard's Landing)

Return to Bodhessel the Caller 0/1 (Shard's Landing)

brown robed citizens are much easier to kill than yellow robed citizens.

brown-robed: necro class, cast a lifetap infrequently and the following dots: Grip of Zargo Rk 3, Ivrakdal's Pallid Haze Rk 3, and Ulork's Decay Rk 3. Not a lot of hp's, mobs go down as easy as any 96-97 level mob in zone

yellow robed citizens: Cleric class, huge mana pool. They spend most of their time casting so not a lot of DPS. As a soloer, took me a looong time to take one out, about 10 minutes and all my mana bar. I went afk to bio and had plenty of time, so if you want to do a set or two of push-ups or grab a snack while you battle, this is the mob for you. Also, you can distract them somewhat by slowing them, they concentrate on removing that slow as soon as it hits.

There were enough mobs in citizen living quarters I didn't have to engage the yellow-robed ones

XP for quest was less than 1% xp at level 97

Faction for quest brought me to Dubious with Forsaken Village mobs from Glares.

So how do mobs get Rank 3 spells anyway? Do they attend raids? These mobs I took in their bedrooms for crying out loud. I don't get Rank 3 spells, pfffftttt!

Found this out the hard way. In order to get the caller to talk to you, you have to stand on the rock with him when you hail him

and invis has to be off. This will cause nearby bugs to aggro but they are easy kills.

I have done no killing yet and was able to get this without creating agro.
Nearby mobs were only Dubious to me.

Council members and regular citizens will update this quest. Pretty self explanatory, mobs at their beds will count towards kill count.
